What to get

Currently have the Sonos one and the mic sensitivity is lacking so I'm thinking to upgrade to echo dot + (2) play 1 or (1) play3. Questions: are the drivers in the play1 and play3 the same? I'm trying to fill the sound in a large kitchen, could someone that owns that play1 and play3 provide feedback? I don't need it to be super loud and would rather have clarity throughout the room than all the music coming from one side but I do love my bass.

I am seriously considering the purchase of a Sonos One for my daughter but have some serious concerns. I have been reading (here) about customer concerns over the mic sensitivity in the Sonos One - many, many complaints. The responses I have read is to expect software updates from Sonos to correct this in the future. The Dot is tried & true and my personal experience with it so far and its integration with my Play 3 is great. I have not read a great deal of positive responses from Sonos saying these fixes will come soon. Would love to go with the Sonos One but not certain this is the right decision. Can someone help me? Hi All, New to the boards and have had a search through and seen a couple threads that are similar to this yet non seem to answer the exact questions I've got, so thought I'd make a new thread and see if anyone could help me out. I've inherited a Gerrard turntable. 2 Monitor Audio system R352 standing speakers, along with a technics stereo integrated amplifier A6000MK2 and an ARCAM Alapha 8 AM/FM Tuner, and I just wondered what I need to connect this to my sonos network, would it be a Connect or Connect:Amp? The technology is a little old school for me that I don't really know what any of it means, very much a sonos generation of plug in connect and play, taken me a year to actually get the whole turntable system working as I was missing a phono lead for the turntable with earth spade terminals, but got that and can now finally use the system which works great, but would be even better if I could connect it to my sonos system and play the LPs through all the sonos speakers w

Hi - I currently have two Sonos Play:1 speakers and recently purchased a record player that I would like to be able to play using the Play:1's. To connect using the in-line from the record player I understand I need a Play:5, Connect or Connect:Amp. That being said, if I purchase a Play:5 and connect to the record player, would the Play:5 them be able to connect to the Play:1 speakers? Or would I need the Connect or Connect:Amp. I currently own a P1 and a P3 and I am thinking of creating a stereo pair for a medium size (social) room. Would you spend $200 or an additional P1 or $300 for an additional P3 in order to create a stereo pair in that room? Any feedback and thoughts would be appreciated!

I am purchasing an existing home and exploring audio options. The local security/audio is recommending Sonos and in their quote, had 10% over what Sonos charges on line. Is this usual ? When I inquired - it was stated that this is approved by Sonos and has to do with professional set up ( not any hard mounting etc ... but I guess it would be turning using TruePlay ). Is this normal. It adds up when you are looking at a $5K quote. POVs welcome !

I am looking to add a multi room system in my house but do not know what I am doing and could use some advice on what to get. I am looking to add sound in the living room and dining room as two separate zones. This will be audio only and connected to in wall wired speakers. The wiring for those speakers goes down to the basement. At the same spot in the basement, I have the internet router. The house is supported by a mesh network and I have strong coverage throughout. To connect those speakers, I believe I need a CONNECT:AMP for each room. We mostly just listen to internet streaming like Spotify. Do I need to buy a receiver/tuner as well? What else do I need to actually play music, control volume, etc? I believe we can use an app, but I would like to have a dedicated remote in each room as well. In the kitchen, I already have a Beosound 8 which is a wireless speaker that I like very much. I would like to keep that speaker, but would prefer to control all sound in the house from on

I would like to get a floor stand for my Play:5. Where I live, I have two options, and both are basically the same price. I am building a new house and designing the sound system. I do not have Sonos today, so I am new to this technology. I have listed my plan below and have a couple basic questions. 1. Regarding, the living/dining/kitchen setup, do I need to make sure my speakers are 8ohm to run all four off one Connect: Amp? The existing forum responses are not quite clear to me. 2. Evening everyone! First post here. So the title says it all really. I've decided that I'd like to start my journey into having a wireless speaker setup around the house. We are an Apple household, with iPhones, iPads and two Apple TV's (4th Gen and 4K) and use Apple Music as our streaming service. We also have Amazon Prime and have used an Echo Dot previously. Our only speakers are the ones in our phones, a Samsung soundbar and Now given that we are so Apple heavy, when looking at the various options and discussing it with the boss (AKA Wife), we came to the conclusion that the Sonos speakers seemed to be the most family friendly and unrestricted, as opposed to say getting a HomePod which is Apple only, that when we have people round they can download the Sonos app from their respective app store if need be and then load tunes up with minimal fuss. But would the community here say it's worth jumping in now or waiting until the dust clears...? I personally can't see

I am looking at buying the Connect:Amp to connect my ceiling speakers by Sonos. Is it possible for these speakers to be connected to my TV via the Connect:Amp also? Apologies if this question has been answered before

Hey folks! If I want to have three separate zones that are quite far apart from one another, and all of which have wired speakers, how would you recommend I go about doing that? I will be able to place my Connect (or primary base or whatever) at the router, and I can connect my first zone of speakers directly to that. Can I daisy-chain a Connect to two separate Play-1 boxes? Is that the most elegant solution? The wifi connection isn't great, so I'm interested to hear what setup you'd recommend in two different scenarios: - If I could get the wifi to work well - If I wanted to connect all the zones using ethernet (presumably using daisy-chaining?) Thank you for your help! I'm excited to become a Sonos fan but the hardware capabilities are a little confusing.

Hi I have a 2013 Smart Samsung TV with SKY HD box and a Playbase, I am after a universal remote that will play nice with all these. Any Recommendations TIA Ian

Due to the loss of Sonos functionality caused by Cascading, Software Upgrade Incompatibility ... I'm going to have to make some changes. I am currently running a Sonos system with 2 Sonos Connect, a Sonos Connect Amp, a Play:3 and a Play:5 I am controlling these with the "Sonos Controller for Mac" Version 7.0 on a MacBook Pro running 10.7.5 I also have a hard drive plugged into my wireless router that contains all of my personal music and that I frequently access with my Sonos system. If I get rid of the Macbook, could I run the entire set-up with just a dedicated iPad Mini? Seems like these could be had on Ebay for under $200. Would an iPad work better? I plan on making this a dedicated device so that future Sonos upgrades that require me to also upgrade my OS, won't impact all my other software. Thanks for any recommendations. Gary

Like many of you, I've got a combination of Sonos and Homes in my life. Unfortunately I only currently have two Play 1s but I'm desperate to find a way to cast music via my Homes, to my Sonos. As I see it, there are currently two solutions. Get a Play 5 or Connect and then add a Chromecast Audio. The obvious choice seems to be the Play 5, but will I be able to cast to all the speakers in my house if I have that? Or would I need to have a Connect to enable that? Is there another option? Could I buy a PlayBase and connect that to my TV then add a Chromecast to the TV and cast music to the Chromecast and then to the Playbase (and maybe to the other speakers?) If it would work, it seems like the best option as I'm much more interested in getting a Playbase than I am a 5 or a Connect. AND FINALLY, have many people had luck getting things to play via IFTTT? Is that a viable fourth option? Thanks for all your thoughts!

I am a current Play5 user of the 1st generation speakers. I recently mounted them on some Flexson speaker stands and I am delighted with the product. I know Flexson has a new stand for the 2nd gen. Play5 but I can't find them in the U.S. (California to be exact). I would take a recommendation on other options or...if you know of a local reseller that deals in Flexson.

I've been contemplating Sonos for quite a while, but having built my house with mostly in-walls and ceiling, I had a hard time justifying. Now with the Alexa integration, I'm taking another look. My whole house system could easily be retrofitted with 6 or so Sonos Connect devices, but before getting there, I'd like to try it out. So I figured my family room TV could use an update, currently using an old 2.1 setup with no integration into my whole house system. So my thought was to get a Playbase, which I would use equally for TV and Music. But I was a little worried about the bass so I thought the Play:5 might be a good option, especially when on sale for $399. Regardless of the 70ms delay when using the P5, thoughts? I don't mind spending 300 more for the Playbase if the bass is on par with the P5. Not sure the optical connection to get dolby digital is all that important either as I never plan to add 5.1, I have a 7.4.2 home theater already. Basically, talk me into the Playb

Morning all, my system is getting pretty big now, mainly CA's or ZP120's, a few Play's, subs and a single ZP90. They all (with the exception of gym which uses B&W 805's) use B&W in-ceiling speakers .....CCM616's, CCM663's, CCM 664's etc. And they work well.....the 663's very well. But they are expensive and to progress further, I think I need to be looking at good alternatives and was interested in what that might be. If anyone has any suggestions, products etc that would give the those various B&W's a run for their money then very interested to hear about.....especially if cheaper. Many thanks

I am about to enter the Sonos ecosystem to replace my old wired 5.1 setup. It is important that I can use Alexa to request music using the same system that will be serving 5.1 sound when watching movies. In a 5.1 setup, would I need to buy 2 new Alexa enabled One's if I didn't want to use a dot? I am unsure weather it would be better to use dot's to drive them or have Alexa built into the speaker's themselves. I will wait for Spotify support regardless so I have some time to mull this over. I'm looking at getting the hubby something for Christmas and he was eyeing up the Sonos when we went shopping but I've no idea what bit to buy!! He wont particularly want it for the TV (at first anyway- no point just yet as our TV is old and needs upgrading) more for music, multiple rooms would be nice but I think he would be happy with one to start off with so see how he likes it. So... what bit do I need to buy (I'm a total technophobe!!!) All help advice very much appreciated.:D

I am interested in getting the Connect or Connect Amp for my new bathroom renovation. I want to have 2 Kohler SoundTile shower speakers (4 Ohms) and 2 Polk ceiling speakers (8 Ohms). I am aware that with these speakers I cannot just connect them all to the Connect Amp due to the 4 Ohms of the Kohler speakers. What is my best option? I was thinking of getting the Niles SSVC-2 speaker selector with volume control and impedance magnification. Would this work? I know I could purchase 2 Connect Amps, but since the 4 speakers would be in the same room it doesn't seem like a good solution (and is more expensive). I appreciate any responses! Thanks!

Hi all! I have a single Sonos Play 3, and love the sound. However, when looking for the soundbar for my TV and movies, I ended up buying the Qacoustics M4. It trumps the Playbar in terms of sound quality, IMO, I've heard both. But! The simplicity of Sonos is just not there. I plan to sell the QM4 and Play3, buy the Playbar and add maybe two play 1's later. Does this sound like a good plan to you?

I am planning on using a Sonos System in our new house and had been planning on using a playbar sitting on our mantle with a TV above. I am now wondering if I could use a playbase off to the sides in the bottom bookshelf, perhaps the white one and it could kind of blend in. After reading a good bit here it is clear that this forum is NOT a sonos corporate "place" staffed by sonos people but rather a "place" staffed by people who are doing this in their own time for no comp. (I see these comments a good bit.) Therefore I am going to ask a question that I otherwise would not (because it might be unseemly). I have a BUNCH of sonos stuff already and have for years. Gosh I have loved it. Music (almost) everywhere (not outside (ok... sometimes outside). Sounds great. The app. I thought that was the coolest thing in the world years ago. Sounds soooooooo good. Glenn Gould playing Bach. Thievery corporation at 4:20. So so nice. And I have a connect so I wired some sorta cheapy outdoor speakers to my garden from a nice conventional 2 channel stereo amp from back in the day (Onkyo or Yamaha or something... you know hat I mean) But sonos seem to be trying to become more home theater-centric. Being new to the product, I am looking for advice and will be as brief as possible in my explanation... I am currently using Play 5's and am so impressed with the product. I do have occasional wi-fi issues. My home is wired to all rooms with both speaker wire and CAT5. All current wiring runs back to one location. My desire is to utilize hard-wired ceiling mount speakers in various rooms with the ability to utilize Sonos. Total Hard-wired rooms would 8+ Home is near 8k sq ft. I have not purchased the in-ceiling speakers yet. I understand these are not available. Are there certain brands ideal for sound with Sonos products? Do I need an "Amp" for each & every room? I currently have my Play 5's in various rooms and "group" to play the same throughout. Is this the same when using Amp and hard wired speakers?
