I got a flier from monoprice.com today that mentioned some thin Ethernet cables in multiple lengths and colors. If you are thinking about wiring your Sonos system one of these cables might be less visible than an older, fatter cable. Possibly on other sites too, maybe cheaper?

Playing tv through my connect:Amp. I have a Connect:Amp and would like to play tv / movies through the system speakers. I have a headphone jack on the back of my TV with a converter extension to RCA. I plug in the jack to the tv and the RCA extensions to the Connect:Amp. I switch my tv to jack / optimal output and then go to the sonos app to choose line-in. It looks like it’s all working fine but there is no sound. What’s the deal? Thanks.

Hello, folks. I've moved into a new place and need floorstands for my beloved black, first-generation Play:5s. My local Best Buy was a bust. Then, I ordered the Flexson floorstands from Amazon, but after making me wait three weeks, it canceled the order saying they were out of stock. I hate Amazon now. Assuming the original Flexsons are unavailable, what's the next best alternative? Do floorstands for the second-generation Play:5s work as a substitute?

Nakamichi Shockwafe Pro 7.1Ch DTS:X 600W 45-Inch Sound Bar with 8" Wireless Subwoofer & 2-Way Rear Satellite Speakers. I was looking to maybe sell my playbar and get the above system instead. I mainly want a soundbar that is wireless for playing movies. I torn whether to stay with Sonos and buy the Sub but that an extra $600 when I can get all that above for $650. It looks like Sonos is not ever going to offer DTS support. So I will never be able to get the best sound from my Blu-ray or 4k discs. I just wonder how many of you have the 5.1 set up is it worth it? What speakers do you use for back surround? Are the play 1s good enough or would you recommend getting the play 5s for surround?

Just bought my first Sonos product, a Play 5. I love it, but I want to add to it to feel even more surrounded by my music. Given the layout of my living room/kitchen below and the current Play 5 denoted in blue, should I add a second Play 5 to make a stereo pair or should I add a pair of Play 1s to throw on the back wall of my kitchen?

I’m looking for a decent cheap tablet to use as a sonos controller. I’d love something that has a powered dock if possible. I’d really love something that could be setup to run just a few apps, or maybe only the sonos app. And go!

I want to install a SONOS system at a lake house in a rural setting. CenturyLink is the provider and I would be purchasing a ZyXel pk5000Z or pk5001Z DSL modem through them. Does anyone have any experience with this type of configuration, and if so, what are the results? Thanks.

So here is what my setup will be: 5 pairs of Indoor Ceiling Mounted speakers. These 5 pairs will need to be 3 zones (3 connect:amps) 1 pair of Outdoor Mounted Speakers (Understand this would require it's own Connect:Amp) So I know the easy solution is 4 connect:amps and I am done. I have 2 pairs of speakers in garage and 2 pairs in kitchen/dining area which are open concept so that is why I only need 2 Connect AMPs for these 4 pairs of speakers. My indoor/garage ceiling mounted speakers are Polk Audio RC80i's My outdoor speaker is undetermined- leaning towards Bose 251 or Polk Atrium #? Will take recommendations My question is: Should I go with 4 Connect:Amps to power/play through all of the areas mentioned above or should I go with a third party amplifier and just get 4 Connects. The difference in price is $600 ($150 extra between Connect AMP and Connect) and I figure I could put a couple hundred into a good amplifier and still save some money going this route. An

Hello, I'm pretty new to Sonos and just bought a Soundbar (got a good deal on one!). The devices I would like to use with the soundbar are a new Samsung 55" LED TV and a turntable that plugs into a mixer. Hi, I am hoping someone who knows what they're talking about can help me with my query. I just bought a Connect:Amp to go with an internal/external speaker set-up I'm hoping to put into a new home. I'm running this with a Sonos One in the Kitchen area and plan to build on the set-up over time. Living/Dining Area (5.4m x 4.2m) - 4 x Polk Audio RC60i Outdoor wall to garden area - 2 x Polk Audio Atrium 4 Speakers As I'll be running the above 6 speakers off the Connect:Amp, I intend to have two of the internal speakers on a manual switch with the external speakers, so only 4 speakers are ever running off the Connect:Amp at any one time (otherwise I believe I could blow it) My question is two-fold: 1. Does the set-up above seem reasonable? 2. Are there any cheapish powered subwoofers people would recommend for the internal set-up? I can't afford to get a Sonos Amp right now, so looking for an interim solution for a while. Some recommendations I've seen: - Wharfedale Diamo

I’m wanting to know what the best set up with Sonos would be. We’re going to have a gym an reception area and would like to be playing two different music. The gym area is about 100m^2 with over 12’ ceilings. The reception area is about 5m^2. What would you suggest? Also we’re in Qatar so our power outlet is 220v. Is that an issue for Sonos products? Would 4 Play 5’s in the gym and 1-2 play 3’s in reception be a good setup? Do we need anything else to link multiple play 5’s in the gym? What about a subwoofer for the gym Area? Any other products? We would be streaming Spotify or the coaches would playing music from their phones. Well also have a computer in the gym connect to display TVs that is capable of playing music. Hi, We are planning on having our patio done, and currently I own a Connect Amp that is not connected to anything. I wanted to place some speakers and wanted some suggestions on where and how I should place them. This is a 3d image of what we are getting, so whats everyone's thoughts? I was thinking about the GS3s, but have not purchased anything yet. Also, how many speakers will I need to get music in the patio/deck.

I just bought the Playbar. It replaces two medium sized B&W speakers which were quite old. The receiver wasn’t as good anymore either. With Loudness activated, sound was very good. Without loudness, crap. However, I am quite disappointed with the sound in comparison with my old speakers. It does not sound as full, or wide. Especially with movies, I might even consider calling it flat. Missing high and missing low. I have read that many buy the SUB and that this should make quite the difference. But: how about low volumes? I don’t like turning up the volume and prefer low volume with everything. The TV cabinet I have is quite wide (2.5m / 8’). Will adding Play 1’s on the ends of the caninet and pair as stereo help mich as well? Will the Play 1’s increase the hifhs and will the sub fill the lows? I really like the controls and app of Sonos, so any suggestions to improve will be much appreciated.

I have a question regarding having a sound bar in a Large room w/ high ceilings? Should I use a sound bar or have the room wired for traditional surround sound?

Reading some other topics and seeing a Boost being recommended as a WiFi networking solution got me to thinking. A Boost is $100 while a Play 1 is $150, getting another speaker for $50 more might be tempting in some situations. So how would the Play 1 compare to the Boost in WiFi operation?

I'm not a current SONOS customer, so I'm trying to get the answer to the following: I understand that the SONOS Connect is used to feed SONOS audio sources to an existing amplifier/receiver system. What options are there, however, to make available the output from an existing amplifier/receiver to a SONOS network? The scenario is as follows: Imagine I have a (legacy) amplifier/receiver hooked up to a reel-to-reel player, tape deck, turntable, CD player, radio... What options are there to pass through all these sources to a SONOS network using the SONOS Connect through my amplifier/receiver? The way I understand it, the SONOS Connect is currently only able to accommodate one source at a time via the analog Line-In connectors. However, I don't want to have to switch connections every time I want to play music from a different source. Can I connect my amplifier to the SONOS Connect to be able to play all sources connected to the amplifier and can I, likewise, use the SONOS Connect t

i am planning on buying a sonos product as a gift for a friends' home in France do I need to buy a special product or adapter for that country?

I want to stream my own music from a NAS to my own amplifier and speakers. It's the streaming and music selection part I'm having trouble with. I currently use a Plex server with Plex phone app with a Chromecast Audio doing the streaming. But my wife is struggling with all the extra steps (get out phone, launch app, wait to load library, find and select music, select 'cast', select specific Chromecast device, wait for connection etc). And that's when the Chromecast is even available on the network, which isn't a given. I'm wondering if there's a better way. Some kind of streaming device that plugs into my amplifier and is always connected to the source plus a phone app that caches the library well and is always connected to the streaming device so that we don't have to set up the connections every time we want to listen to music. Is there a Sonos product to help with this? Or can anyone suggest a different product mix?

hi all. im in the market for a new home theatre system. I have older KEF egg speakers with a KEF sub. The speakers and sub work absolutely fine. i have speaker cable wired into the roof so was planning on keeping the KEF's to add rear surround sound connected to a playbar and use the KEF sub. I understand that the connectamp allows me to connect older speakers, so was going to connect the rear surround speakers to that. My question is, can i also add the KEF sub to the connectamp? the sub is powered. i dont have power in the roof, otherwise i would have used just two play1's but dont want the hassle of adding the power. For the money that i will be spending on the connect amp, it would save me having to my the sonos sub... so.... in the end the set up will be 1. playbar 2. connectamp 3. two kef eggs connected into connectamp for rear surround (not powered) 4. kef sub connect into connectamp (powered)

Can anyone tell me if there are any floor stands for the new Play One with Alexa, I purchased a complete system playbar, sub and 2 x play one speakers and I made the mistake of ordering new stands but they only fit the Play1, I feel it's a bit stupid of Sonos to give them the same name only difference being a numerical 1 and and alphabetical One, because the play 1 floor stands support the speaker with a screw into the rear of the speaker but the new play one does not have any fixing support , and I need then to be on a stand and not just placed on a table, any ideas people

Hi there, I'm living with a medium sized studio appartement with already 3 Play:1 in it, which is probably already a bit overkill ...but, being the big Sonos fan that I am, I was wondering if I could get a Sub for fuller sound and without disturbing my neighbors (I'm always lower than 10% anyway) – Do you think it's even worth trying? Hi, I'm wanting to get my husband speakers of some sort for his birthday. We have a large Toshiba tv maybe 60-65 inches? Can't remember. in our living room. It's connected to cable. Our living room is fairly large and even when we have the tv on 100 which is as loud as it can go then we can barely hear the shows when playing the DVR. I have no clue where to start or what to get. We bought a sound bar speaker from target once and it did nothing. It actually was lower than the tv it seemed. We've heard this is the best so I need to know what might work best for our situation.

Hi, I am looking for some advice regarding expanding my sonos zones to include my kitchen. The room measure 2.4M (8ft) x 4M (14 ft), with a height of 2.4M. I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion regarding the choice between a stereo pair of Play 1's (I have these in a 3 x 3 room, and they work very nicely), or a single play 3. Hi, I'm wondering if we can expect any major updates to the line up soon. I'm interested in buying a playbar, Sub and 2 play 1's for my surround system. The One will probably replace the play:1 some day, but I prefer the play1 because it's easier to mount. Is it 'wise' to buy it now or could there be any major upgrades to hardware in the near future? I wonder if Airplay2 will be available to the current line up since that's still a little vague, no? Concerning Voice Control: don't really need this, but I might buy a Sonos One in the future for the kitchen or bathroom. I assume if you have 1 Sonos One you can also use it to execute commands ( for instance play music in the living room) to the other 'dumb' speakers? Thanks!
