What to get

Hi, I’m a long time user of Sonos with a One, Play:1 and Play:3 at home. However, we moved house to a bigger house with a decent sized garden, and now the nice weather is here and we’ve started to sit in the garden I am finding an issue with my phone being too far from the router so having poor connectivity to WiFi which means the phone cannot control Sonos. Layout context: Router is in the living room at the front right corner of the house Sonos One is also in the living room (front left corner), Play:3 is in the front bedroom upstairs and Play:1 is on the kitchen windowsill close to the back door which leads on to the rear garden. None are hard wired. Patio area where we sit is in the back left corner of the garden, effectively diagonally opposite the router. So the issue is that when we sit out on the patio, the phone is still connected to WiFi, but only just, with a poor connection. Looking for some advice... I have a Denon x4100w running my surround in living room. It also has a turntable. I have 2 Sonos Ones in my kitchen And 2 passive speakers in the kitchen ceiling. And 2 Klipsch Outdoor speakers. I was thinking of getting a Sonos Amp to run the passive speakers outside and in the Kitchen. Everything is currently hooked up the the Denon bit the Zones are kinda painful to deal with. Is there any way to keep my living room powered by the Denon, but also have that managed by the sonos? Hi everyone, I just moved into a house that was built in 2017 and comes with three pairs of built-in ceiling speakers. One pair is in the living room, another pair in the covered patio and the last pair in the master bedroom. I am completely new to all of this so pardon my ignorance but what do I need to get started? I'm interested in having a home theater system in the living room connected to my tv and also play music (but not necessarily at the same time). From my reading, it sounds like I may need: Sonos Amp to connect to my built-in ceiling speakers, alexa echo, along with audio cables for just regular music in the living room, patio and bedroom Sonos 5.1 set up (playbase, sonos 1 speakers and woofer) for my TV Obviously this is going to get very spendy so I'm looking to see if there is any way to consolidate this? Hi all I'm considering investing in a Sonos system, but have a few question before I invest in the bucks. 1. I have an Xbox One X (4K), Apple TV (4K) and Nintendo Switch (and maybe a Wii U as well). All HDMI connections. I'm using a receiver at the moment to accommodate the number of inputs. The receiver isn't 'Works with Songs' compatible. If I plan to buy a Beam, what's the best way to connect? HDMI splitter? It needs to feed through 4K and 3D. 2. I would then like to get some satellite speakers. Is there any difference with Play One and Play:1, apart from Alexa/Google Assistant? Is it worth getting two Play:5 (space isn't huge). 3. What's the 'fill' in a room from a Play:1 or One? Do I 'need' to get two for a standard sized bedroom? Or perhaps even a Play:5 4. Similar question... If I have an open planned kitchen/living room in an apartment area, do I need another speaker, say a Play:5 in somewhere to fill the open space? Or Can I use the surround theatre setup (as above) to

Hi everyone, we have newly installed outdoor speakers (with a Sonos amp and 4 Martin Logan speakers-2 rear with subwoofer and 2 front ) . We also have an outdoor tv (cosmos) that we would like to connect to the speakers. Our installers have put another Sonos connect to the back of the tv in a socket box (which is now sideways on the tv stand). It doesn’t seem right. What is the best way to connect the sound from the outdoor tv to the Sonos system? I believe we also have an additional Sonos connect for the front speakers and a Sonos amp for the rear speakers and subwoofer. And currently another Sonos connect for the outdoor tv, which is outside in a socketbox, sideways. It just seems really odd. Please help. I would ideally like to switch from tv audio to music easily and have the tv audio automatically switch on to the speakers when we turn on the tv. Hello, I have a set of Play 1s and I intend to add a subwoofer. I have some cds that I cannot get on Apple Music that I would like to play. Is the Sonos Connect the only way to connect a CD player?

Currently I have a Playbar, sub, 2 play 1s in the room. I really don’t have anywhere to put the play 1’s except for a stand behind the couch which would not be ideal with 3 kids running around all the time. I thought about hanging them in the wall but it would look odd with the way the house is built. Then I thought about buying a Sonos beam and hanging it right behind the couch above an entryway which would look more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. So it brings me to my question. Would it be as effective as having 2 1’s behind me? If not, I’m open to any other advice as long as the setup would look clean.

Hey Guys, I have SONOS:Connects and a bunch of unused in-ceiling speakers. What I really need is SONOS:AMPS. Obviously I can sell one and buy the other but I will take a big loss selling used and buying new. Is there a small third party AMP out there that when paired with a non-amp CONNECT matches or exceeds quality of the standalone SONOS:AMP? Of course price is the big factor... if too expensive I will just buy the powered SONOS box. Not looking for any features but the ability to power the speakers at same quality. I'm hoping you guys have talked about this one before and can shortcut me to a product or tell me this is a dumb question. I'd like to avoid spending the morning reading about cheap amps. 🙂

Hello, We currently have 4 Sonos Play:1s, including a pair in a L/R configuration in our living room. We have an Epson 710HD projector that I've been considering using in a home theater setup. I plan on hooking up a Roku device and Steam Link to the projector via HDMI. What I was originally planning on was getting a Play:5 since it has the line input and I was thinking I could go projector RCA out to 3.5 line input on the Play:5. In this scenario, my home theater sound would be 2x Play:1s and the Play:5. But then I realized that the projector doesn't have an audio output! To get around this, I'm considering getting an HDMI Audio Extractor Splitter so the configuration would look like this: I considered replacing the Play:5 with a Sonos Playbar but the cost of the Playbar and Subwoofer together is prohibitive. Why should I get Sonos over Bluesound? Never heard of them before now whilst searching the web.

My wife and I just closed on my new home, and getting very excited to make our personal tweaks. Well I'm in charge of the living room AV setup, and could use some advice. The attached image shows a side view of my living room and where there are existing mounts. The angle of the picture may not show it, but the front and rear mounts are evenly spaced at roughly the same height. Note that I'm doing some minor renovation in the house and also have an electrician on hand (to install light fixtures, Tesla garage charger, and wire my alarm system), so the speaker wire vs A/C power conversation is not an issue. I have three play1 speakers throughout the house and hard wired speakers in the ceiling of the living room that I’d like to use for sonos and tv. Will an Amp work for that? Also, besides the two ceiling speakers the only other sound for tv comes out of the tv speaker itself. I would like to add a playbar or playbase and possibly a sub but would like some insight as to which hardware to purchase. Any help you can provide is much appreciated!

Briefly: Already have Living Room: 2 x Play:3s in stereo (hardwired, and closest, to my router) Kitchen: Play:1 Main Bedroom: Play:1 Living Room and Kitchen are grouped. I've been thinking for a while that it would be really nice to play music from YouTube on my iPhone or MacBook Pro to my Sonos system. My current setup is too old to support this but my understanding is that I can achieve it as long as I add one of the newer speakers e.g. Sonos One. And Father's Day's coming up so it would be a shame not to! I'd realistically only want to play YT to the Living Room + Kitchen group. Firstly, am I correct? Secondly, where would you recommend putting the new speaker? I obviously don't want it as part of the stereo pair for aesthetic reasons (the Play:3s are on stands). Do I need Sonos amp for Sonos outdoor speakers? If so, why?

Newbie here and new to Sonos products. We moved recently and both home audio and TV setup now different requirements. Looking at whole home audio vs. old-school hardwired speakers in the ceiling, so hairsplitting over Play1 or One. Meantime, for TV setup, at minimum, like to have a Beam, w/ wired headphones, get 2 Play1 or One for rear speakers, no subwoofer needed. Will probably forgo cable/satellite as we don't use many channels. OTA and Firestick4K. Occasional BluRay. Haven't used "Alexa" yet, but like to incorporate at some point. (See SNL's skit "Alexa for Seniors" that's where we are....) Have read the multi-page posts that seems to focus on Beam and BT headphones while using TV sound are not compatible. Wondering if any users have tried a non-BT headphone w/ Beam in use simultaneously? or wired headphones alone when no soundbar/rear speakers desirable? If so, what worked for you? What would you buy first? the sonos beam with subwoofer or the sonos playbar with 2 play one?

I have a large living / dining room area (30 feet long x 18 feet wide x 19 feet high celing). I am interested in playng music (no TV). What would be a good setup: two Sonos 5 or 4 Sonos One or two Sonos One?

So I’ve been looking at sonos products recently and think the newer amp may be ideal for my situation. Currently I have 4 In-ceiling speakers in my living room which is separated from dining/kitchen by French doors ideally for parties etc id like to play music through the 4 hardwired ceiling speakers as well as two of the sonos play speakers in the dining and kitchen rooms..will this work? one question I can’t seem to find is that is there a limit to how many sonos products I can link together with the amp? Ie. Can I have 4 total sonos play and a sound bar as well as a hardwired sub connected through the amp? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hello, I recently purchased the Sonos Beam on sale over Christmas, but I am considering returning it and purchasing a Playbase instead. I want a Sonos solution in my living room that can act both as my TV audio system and also be my primary music system in my living room. I am leaning towards going for the Playbase rather than the Beam as I feel it will give louder sound and more bass which will make it more suitable as a long term music solution. I have also found it for sale at £500 which is much more attractive than the usual £700. My main concern about the Playbase are: 1 - Lack of DTS Is this an issue and what exactly does it mean? I have seen numerous review raising the lack of DTS and Atmos as being a big omission in a system this expensive. What is the general consensus on this? What does not having DTS actually mean? And what is the drawback, what features does a Playbar or Playbase user miss out on as a result? 2 - Possible upcoming Playbar refresh

I'm currently researching landscape speakers such as: JAMO JL4810 Sonarray acoustic landscape AS4.1 or something similar. A lot of these show install with "their" amps and show a daisy chain type connections in series (ie a 70V system) for multiple speakers and the sub. Would the wiring be any different for the Sonos AMP since the AMP is an 8 ohm system? Would I use a similar hookup if I were to use the AMP, or should I buy "their" amps and purchase a separate CONNECT? Thanks!

HI guys, proud owner of a Beam and Sub combo that works very well indeed but I felt that the beam could be so much more. I've been looking at the new Sennheiser with its atmos and Dolby + 3D production out of one bar and the Beam seems to be lacking somewhat. I think there is probably a good market for another soundbar that encompasses Sono's functionality and easy with a higher end and louder product with multiple inputs. I had a sales guy say that there possibly going to be some changes mid year where he works and were hopeful for a new product. Anyway better go as I've had a few and may not be making to much sence. cheers Paul

I currently have an 4 zone ABUS audio system. Basically a main hub upstairs, CAT6 run to (4) individual keypads, speaker wire ran to (2) ceiling speakers in each room from the keypads. I want to be able to control each zone speaker level and audio signal independently. From what I've read I could accomplish this with the SONOS connect amp. But to do this on (4) different zones I would need to have (4) Connect Amps. Is there not some multizone connect amp? Any ideas would be helpful. I'm not interested in changing my existing speakers out in the ceiling.

Hi Guys, So I recently got a Beam when I traveled to Germany (can't buy it where I live, no dealers). Now, I found something on the ads, a guys is selling a Sub for 500 euro, but I could probably bargain it down even more. The problem is that is still a whole lot of money. The Beam I bought was on sale that day, so I go it for 388 euro, minus the tax return I got, coming to about ~330 euro. But the Sub is really a lot of money. Really a lot. How big is the benefit? I listen to music on Beam, and I watch movies (via Plex and Netflix, and I really miss DTS!!!). Will it be transformative enough to justify that much money? I'm planning on 2 satellites when Ikea starts selling Symfonisk Book Shelf speakers in August. In the meantime, what is your experience in combining Beam with Sub? I live in an apartment building, so I can't really let "go" too much. I've read somewhere that by offloading bass, you get better mids and highs. Does it mean better soundstage and directionalit
