Hey all, I currently have a beam and really like it, for more esthetic reasons, looking to move to an Amp plus bookshelf speakers. Wondering if anyone can speak to phantom center on Amp vs Beam. Obviously the quality of the sound you’d be getting with an amp would depend on what you’re using. I am leaning toward Q Acoustics 3030. I feel like you’d get better stereo separation with two speakers vs Beam, but wondering what the dialogue experience is like with the Amp. We use the dialogue boost on all our Sonos products. Thanks all!
With so many of the products seemingly on backorder, do they charge your credit card immediately or when the item(s) ship?
HelloI am planning my KNX Smarthome and am wondering how to power all the ceiling speakers. For different tasks, I need to be able to control the speakers with Airplay-2 and via Sonos. If I got it right, the new Sonos amp covers both, but a combination of connect. amp and (existing) Airport Express stations connected to the analog line-in should do the same at half of the price. Are there any reasons not to use this connect-airport combination and buy the new amp with an integrated Airplay-2?
Hello Everyone,Our new house is wired for speakers and the holes are already cut, any recommendations for wired speakers?Important elements:two zones, one for TV and music, one just for music each zone has 4 speaker holes Holes are ~ 9.5” no power at the speaker locations, only speaker wires Thanks,Jason
It’s 2021 and yet the Apple Music w/in the Sonos app looks like it’s from 2001! Bottom line is that features within the Apple Music app are missing from Sonos. There’s no Browse. The My Music feature doesn’t show all of my downloaded music that I have in my Apple Music Library. The Radio feature within Sonos doesn’t match up. Even the ‘My Sonos’ feature is not accurate. The ‘recently played’ isn’t in sync or flat out wrong. I love the Sonos speakers and want to add to my system but dang it Sonos, the app is really starting to cause a problem and has me thinking of going in another direction. Yes, the Sonos app will play music but it’s becoming a pain. I get it that Sonos has to work with Apple and other providers but I’ve been a Sonos user for years and still nothing has improved.
Hi,I have a question related to iPhone volume control. When I send music directly to Sonos from my iPhone, I have no trouble controlling my Beam’s volume from my phone. On the other hand, when I stream video content (Netflix, etc) through my Samsung tv (connected to my Beam via HDMI Arc), I can’t control the volume other than from my tv’s remote. Is there no way to do this? It seems like a pretty simple situation, but I can’t figure it out. Thanks very much
I accidentally upgraded two products that I don’t want to upgrade. I was thinking it was an update, not upgrade. How do I release them from upgrade status?
Trying to help hubby connect to our Sonos Roam, whilst away from home. Bluetooth is connected, blue light on the Roam. His phone is saying it is connected, however he can not play music. When he tries from the app it is saying that it is looking for a network. The Roam has been added to our home network. The hotel Wi-Fi will not have a Sonos network….. tried turning off Wi-Fi all together.
Hello just purchased a epson 4040 pro series projector.i currently have sonance outdoor satellite speakers throughout the yard paired with Sonos amp and Sonos Hub. I also bought a denon audio receiver, a hdmi switcher, Apple TV. The projector is mounted outside in a weatherproof enclosure. The screen is motorized and sits on the group and it sealed in a weatherproof box that has to be opened before using remote to control screen. my question is it possible- hdmi from projector to hdmi switcher, hdmi from switcher to audio reciever. Audio out from Sonos port to audio in on reciever. To use the sonance outdoor speakers for the projector.then to also be able to use the speaker to watch live tv.
i have 2 solution if your beam stops every time you turned your tv off an on1)YOU NEED TO TURN ON THE TV AFTER SONOS THEN TURN OTHER DEVICES ONIn my case i always turning on the tv after i turned on my tv box (humax). i didn’t change the priority for some time then decided to give the tv priority and problem solved. soturning on order;1-sonos2-tv (wait until tv completely booted)then turn on whatever you connected to your tv through hdmi. you can buy usb on off switch for any usb device that you want to control when to turn on. (google: usb on off switch)I have a roku and a humax tv box also connected through hdmi to My Panasonic tv. Humax tv box was causing the problem. now my beam is on all the time because it doen’t have a on off switch and takes some time to boot so i turn on my tv first, wait for few seconds to see a blank screen after it shows panasonic logo and then i turn on my tv box and voila, i have my beam works flawlessly. roku does not create an interference.2)unplug any
I’ve lost the capability to control sound on my Sonos Beam from my Samsung TV remote. This had been working fine for years but stopped working after a full power outage. Since then, to change the volume, I either need to push the buttons on the sound bar directly, or I need to use the Sonos app on my phone. The sound bar is hooked up to the TV via optical cable, and I've confirmed the TV is set to use the Optical sound output. I've replaced the batteries in the remote, and have also tried two Samsung remotes (both of which are connected to my TV). When I hit Vol+/-, the /- indicator on TV shows up, but the sound on the Beam does not change.I have tried re-configuring the remote, deleting/adding the remote but nothing has worked.I’ve already read past fix suggestions relating to Samsung Universal Remove settings eg.https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Qled-and-Frame/Can-no-longer-control-Sonos-sound-bar-optical-cable-via-remote/m-p/1674545#M13739but this doesn’t work. Has anyone els
Good morning,Last week I bought the Sonos Roam and installed it. As always, vertly easy to add a Sonos speaker! I've added to a room where I already have a Sonos One. They play together, but when I want to regulate the volume, this is only possible for the One, the Roam is visually on mute. With the buttons on the Roam I can change the volume, but not via the app.Is there anybody with a solution for this?Thank you all and have a great day!Stefan
Hi there,Just got a playbase from a friend and added two play 1 I already have as surround. The sound is great on Music, YouTube, TV news, but it performs really bad on dialogue/quiet scenes in movies (from Netflix) with dd 5.1. Disappointed. The sound level on dialogue /quiet scenes is simple too low compared with action scenes, it is really hard to understand and the overall experience is very bad if I have to constantly adjust volume. What more interesting is, the dialogue in an action/loud scenes is fairly clear and loud, I don’t know why.As for speech enhancement, it did little help, although night mode do increased dialogue level and lowered loud sound, but the sound feels too “thin” for me and not very pleasing, I don’t want to use it except for late night.Did some researches from the community, found no answers to this question: Would a sub added to Playbase solve the dialogue issue in movies? I live in an apartment, for now I think the bass from Playbase itself is good enough
I have multiple rooms and previous only one Sub in the dining room. I have updated my Amps and bought a new Sub for the dining room and moved the previous Sub to the Study The Study is connected via an Ethernet cable direct to the Amp Sub port and through a BT extender (hard wire in power circuit) The Dining room via WIFI The speakers in the Study and Dining room are two separate wired YET When I play the study alone music is heard in the dining room – even if I turn the dining room Amp off and visa versa Utterly confusing It is like the Subs are connected and drive the speakers without full sound How do I separate the two subs I’m going mad
Is it true that I cannot select multiple speakers for the alarm?I understand it can play to grouped rooms, but we don’t use static groups, so that is not an option.
I am using eARC via my Apple TV to play audio from my TV ( LG C1) to my HomePod. That seems to be working fine except that it doesn’t seem to recognize the Symfonisk stereo pair that I also have connected to the Apple TV. Is there a way to play audio to both my HomePod and Symfonisk speakers using eARC, or is playing audio to both the stereo pair and HomePod only limited to AirPlay? From what I understand, I can’t play audio from my TV to the Symfonisk speakers without another speaker. I believe I read that I can play audio from my TV to the Symfonisk speakers with a Roam using Bluetooth. Would that be the only way to get the Symfonisk speakers to work with the TV outside of a sound bar? (A sound bar would make my life much easier, but I don’t have the space for it.)
I am wholly disgruntled at Sonos partnering with Brian Eno and making his Lighthouse station only available in HD. It is both thoughtless and greedy in my view (by both parties). How many fans of Brian Eno are able to afford new Sonos 2 equipment, further paying a monthly subscription to listen to his music? Do they expect those of us who have lots of Sonos 1 equipment to simply pay a fortune to upgrade? And what about those who cannot afford Sonos equipment in the first place?Sonos should insist on providing alternate listening options for use with any equipment in SD. Shame on Sonos and Eno alike.I don’t object to paying for music but I really am disgusted at the ivory tower mentality of this project (not to speak of the very deep pockets required to participate).Sonos previously had an unblemished record in my book and I have persuaded many people to purchase at least one speaker, sometimes more.I won’t be doing so after this disgraceful act.
If I buy this new subscription being offered can I play it on my IPhone when I am away from my house and no wifi?
Apologize if this has been asked. Searched the forum and couldn’t find an answer.I have 2 Onkyo receivers in my setup and am having the same issue with both. Currently have a TX NR686 and TX NR585. The 686 is connected to a 3rd Gen Sonos connect and the 585 is connected to a brand new Sonos port. Neither the connect nor the port can be found via the onkyo setup/works with Sonos search. I get the same time out on both and a resulting connect cannot be found message.I have tried rebooting the router, updating firmware, rebooting receivers and removing and reinstalling both Sonos components in the system. Nothing has made a difference. My assumption is that the problem is in my network setup. I have not been able to get to a solution using onkyo tech support. So I’m trying here. My wifi is a eero mesh system. I’m far from a network expert so looking for advice on things to try. any help is appreciated.
I have no experience with Sonos, but i think this is the best choice.Building new house, at first I need some basic knowledge (minimum setup in al rooms) to be able to discuss further. In living room will be TV and projector with free-standing two stereo speakers. Sonos as a cinema system (in wall or ceiling).Depending on the specifics of the object, there can be no cables from house to outdoors (to second floor jacuzzy zone or fireplace zone, steam house). All equipment is planned in technical room no 11.Proposals can be drawn by hand (easer to understand for me), with the SONOS equipment layouts /schemes. The area in square meters is indicated next to the rooms numbers. The first floor from one side to the other is 26 meters horizontally and 23 meters vertically. Little bigger image in links first floor linksecond floor link thank you for your help!
How many speakers does the average Sonos user have? Are most people just buying one unit and using it for everything in their apartment and maybe getting a Roam for on-the-go experiences? Do most people buy a stereo pair or surround sound set-up and then keep growing their ecosystem? Right now, I own one Sonos unit and would love to eventually get a sound bar and enhance my home theater with a surround system.
So I am running Apple TV 4K into this:https://www.lg.com/us/home-video/lg-hu810pw-4k-laser-projectorjust arrived and it is LEGIT… not amazing in bright room but WOW and so many features. and wanting to run 4.1 with this setup:Sonance in-wall (front) Sonance in-ceiling (rear) Sonos Sub I have the Sonance installed and am waiting on my Amps to ship (October). My understanding from reading the forums here is that I will run one HDMI eARC cable (Zeskit Maya 8K 48Gbps Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable 1.5ft, 4K120 8K60 144Hz eARC HDR HDCP 2.2 2.3 Compatible with Dolby Vision Apple TV 4K Roku Sony LG Samsung Xbox Series X RTX 3080 PS4 PS5 https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08TRGKKR3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GR8XJM0ZXQK8D836QWFK?psc=1) from projector eARC out to Amp for front speakers, then set up other amp + Sub in some sort of “surround group”? Think will it work?
I’m trying to figure out whether to rip lossless or not and wanted to do an a-b comparison of the same track recorded at different rates. But I have to distinguish the tracks in some way. I tried editing composer tag using Windows Medial Player and then rebuilt my Sonos library, but it still shows only Beethoven, not Beethovenb, the edit I had done. So how to I distinguish two rips from the same track so I can play the different versions, either through editing tags or some other means? Thank you.
I’ve really liked the size and sound of the Roam, but there’s been a few problems with the battery. The first is that the Roam keeps turning itself on, even while sleeping or turned off - but this is being addressed in another thread. The second issue is that even while plugged in (not Q pad, but USB), the Roam battery drains while in use. I’ve a Move that doesn’t do this. The Roam *does* charge while not in use while plugged in (unless it wakes up from Off, then it drains), so there’s not a connection problem. At the very least, it should continue to charge AND be able to play music. I’m forced to use it plugged in while outside because it never has more than a 35% charge due to the draining issue while shut off. Please tell me there’s a software/firmware update in the works to fix this. It’s pretty frustrating to have bought an expensive device and not be able to use it as advertised.
I currently have a Connect (Gen 2) connecting a pair of 25-year old Bose ceiling speakers. The Bose subwoofer is broken. Can I just buy a Sonos subwoofer and be good to go? If not, and I buy Sonos ceiling speakers, can I use my Connect (Gen 2) or do I need to upgrade that to an Amp?
