Talk Sonos Products

My Sonos roam arrived the night before we went on holiday last week.  I am pleased with the flexibility of the wifi and bluetooth modes, but it soon became apparent after we got to our destination that the bluetooth device switching on the Roam is very poor.  We had 3 people in the house who paired to the speaker at various points to play their music choices, but when the next person came along, it was a great big faff / fuss to work out who’s phone or iPad was hogging the connection, and ask them to turn off their bluetooth in order to free up the roam to connect to the next person’s device.   We have a bose soundlink mini which allows you to cycle through the existing paired phones/devices and provides some oral feedback on each press “Connected to Michael’s iPhone” *press* “Connected to Michael’s iPad” *press* etc…   Can Sonos please consider something similar?     

Patrick Spence mentioned early in the year either in an earnings call or interview that they were going to release two new products this year. So I guess I am just looking for clarification as to what those new products officially are and if we can expect anything else. By my count we had this year:Roam Ikea Picture Frame Speakers?? Beam-Gen 2?? Ikea Lamp Speakers-Gen 2 (not officially released yet I believe)??Do we know what is the second product? Or is their something else, that “one more thing...” I personally am of the camp that wants a set high end over the ear headphones.

I have 2 Play:1’s and I want to connect them to a Vizio Smart TV. What do I need? Connect, ConnectAmp, Soundbar? Thanks. 

Hi, I went to use the Sonos app this morning on my phone and it appears to be stuck in an update loop. The app won’t function and says at the top an app update is required, when I click “Learn More” I get a screen saying an app update is required, I click “Update Now” which takes me to another screen with a button saying “Update”, which takes me to the app store, but there is no update available. I saw other historic issues with this which suggested updating off another controller (my girlfriend’s Android is doing the same as mine) so I tried off my PC. The update failed with an error 1001, which I understand is the system in unable to find a speaker. Thing is, all the speakers are showing on the PC app, which is now the only method I have to listen to music! Any help gratefully received :)John

Hello. Lately my Arc has had the status light alternately flashing red, white and green. There is nothing wrong with the audio, but this was never the case before. In the app's settings, I have always had the status on light disabled. I'm not sure why the lights are doing what they are doing. Should I be worried?

Why buy a Sonos speaker when Sonos defeats the option qualities an app such as Pandora provides? Pandora enables a repeat song option when I’m using my AV system, or in my car. or my workshop speakers using aux. through my iphone. Yet Sonos disables this feature. Only on a Sonos speaker I’m not able to replay a song. Sonos, are you listening? 

i noticed that already a lot of people ask this question but I have to know for sure because it costs a fortune.I have an Epson EF-11 projector. As an external visual source I use my MacBook. I am aware that my projector does not have HDMI arc or earc so it can’t be connected to an Sonos arc. But is there someway I could connect it to my projector and experience the whole Dolby atmos stuff? Is it possible, in this particular case, with HDfury arcana?thanks for all the answers

Hi everyone. Hoping you can clear something up for me. When I first received and set up my Arc last Summer, I remember that the Sonos System Info (under About my System) would differentiate between the two types of Dolby Atmos audio signal received: DD+ or Dolby True HD.Having established that my Arc was capable of receiving both types of Dolby Atmos signal (depending on source, of course), I pretty much stopped paying attention (just so long as the magic 'Dolby Atmos' lights up on the app, I'm happy.I've been playing with my set up again, however, and even sources that I know to be TrueHD rather than DD+ display simply and only as DD+.Has something changed on the software end? Has anyone else noticed something similar? I'm running the latest version of the S2 app and software, 13.2.2. Nothing has changed on the hardware side (although I'm acutely aware how finickity these audio settings and set ups can be).If anyone could clear this up for me, I'd appreciate it. Cheers.

I actually did not know that neither Roam or Move connects to the Sonosnet (but to the router’s WIFI directly), when I bought my Roam. Which is a bit sad, because I do have wired speakers scattered around the house, but only one router. Do you guys think they will ever enable this through a software update? Update: I totally see I forgot to mention sonosnet in the title, and it seems like I cannot edit that, or delete this post to redo it.. 

Hi there,Is there a way as an app developer to connect to the Sonos library that connects to Spotify, Pandora etc?  In some sense it would be an overlay to the actual Sonos app that does nothing more than connect to the various music services available through the Sonos app.  If the answer is "no", what would be the process to formally request this or introduce the concept for consideration by Sonos?  Thank you.

Alright, please bear with me. I know the beam is not designed to be compatible with these kinds of devices. But…. if we can be theoretical at least, what does it take to convert the digital output from the pioneer djm 900nxs mixer to a signal that the sonos beam can play?I have seen some people converting RCA to digital hdmi audio, but I just bought such a converter, and the beam would not recognize it. I then noticed that the pioneer mixer has a digital output, same physical plug/socket as a single RCA / phono connection, but should be digital, however I don’t know more about it than that. Can someone please let the customer base know when Sonos plans to get their supply chain issues resolved.  Common sense should have hit someone in the front office knowing the simple fact that when everyone is stuck in their houses, miserable, they are probably going to look to products that are going to improve their mental state.  Number 1 on that list is music and TV!  Perhaps it is time to begin manufacturing products on this side of the globe?  You moved your manufacturing from China to Malaysia however China is still controlling that supply market.  Actually China is controlling our entire country as well.  I own a custom AV installation company and we currently have 15 jobs waiting on your products to get completed.  Without them we can’t get paid- How about ramping up production before you lose your loyal following! 

has anyone used two sonos amps to power a pair of speakers, one for the left and one for the right to eliminate speaker wires ?

I just bought the Arc and two SL1 surrounds. I’m happy with the TV audio but music lacks both the high and low definition that you hear with a wired system and amp. If I replace the two surrounds with a single Five speaker might that help? Also, can I adjust volume on the Five independent of Arc while listening to music? My living room is 18x 20 with 20’ ceilings.

I have a Beam used only for music - ie playing YouTube music.  I’m happy with the quality of sound but would like it to be louder. What’s the best speaker/s I could add to it to make it louder? Thank you. 

Apologies if this has been covered before Recently bought a LG TV (LG OLED65GX6LA)  Running the latest Firmware 03.23.35 , and have linked up my soundbar via a optical cable and have two Sonos play ones as rear speakers and a sub and it used to work well. Since september I only get sound via internal speaker.I control the playbar and my TV using Logitech Harmony.Adressing the Playbar using the Sonos App Version 13.2.2 and Build 64320120. I can play music as usual but no sound from the TV or via HDMI connected devices via playbar or satelites.I don’t know what changed, but it’s frustrating not getting any surround sound... 

I recently purchased a Beam Gen 1 while being unaware that Gen 2 was right around the corner (still in the return window.) I like the sound of the Gen 1 for both cinema and music listening. Given my setup, I actually don’t care as much about the performance for cinema as I use the system  primarily for music. So, I’m thinking that features such as DTS and eARC are not as relevant for me. I also use my Beam on it’s own when watching movies and don’t activate any of my other speakers.That said, I want to make sure I’m getting the best product that I can. Is it worth returning my Beam Gen 1 and getting the Gen 2 if I primarily care about music performance? Will the Gen 2 be better or worse for music performance? The same? I’m having trouble distinguishing the difference, if there are a different amount of speakers, different size speakers, etc.

I have a system that was setup by an installer that is no longer available.  It consist of several of the white Connect:Amp that operate in wireless mode.  I would like to add an additional system to power some new outdoor speakers.  I don’t think the Connect;Amp are still available.  What product should I add?  It would be two speakers with about a 100 foot run of cable.  Thanks

I finally got my hands on a Sonos Amp as I cannot get a Sonos Port for the life of me. I have a customer who I am installing a large outdoor 70V system for and I want to use the Sonos Amp as a line out source and not an amp. I know this isn't "recommended", but Sonos really can't blame integrators for looking at alternate solutions given their serious shortage of products (and they also just canceled my large order through Anixter as with all their orders so I have no choice).  The customer wants to use the Sonos app so I need to make this work.Please assist with solutions.  Thank you!

Hello, everyone!I am currently using Sonos Arc with two Sonos One SL and a Sonos Sub. I am perfectly happy with this setup used for TV, but not so when listening to music. I find the stereo field too narrow from the front. As such, I am thinking of buying two Sonos Fives to widen the stereo image.First of all, is it even a good idea? Will incorporating two Fives into the setup (situated further apart than the width of Arc) a viable way to accomplish my goal?Secondly - will it be possible to configure all of the speakers into one setup? If not, is it possible to have two configurations (Arc+2xSL+Sub AND 2xFive+2xSL+Sub) and change them on-the-fly? Or will I have to manually reconfigure everything everytime I would like to change from “Movie Time” to “Music Time” (not a good scenario)?

I am suddenly unable to fast forward in a song on the Android Sonos S2 app. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Hi,I am considering upgrading my TV to an HDMI 2.1 capable device with ARC/eARC support (for future proofness) and specifically I am looking at the Philips OLED 806 or 807.Many thanks to @pwain for reporting so thoroughly the issues he is encountering related to eARC & Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos on this and other fora! However, I am getting a bit worried that I will have similar issues with this TV.Specifically, I am running the Sonos AMP with two passive B&W boxes as fronts, and two Sonos Ones as back speakers. I believe at this point, the Sonos AMP supports just plain ARC (no eARC), so this probably simplifies the situation a bit. I use the latest Apple TV 4K for playback with Plex/Infuse.Does anyone else here have any experience to share with the Philips OLED 806 or 706 and the Sonos AMP in a similar setup as described above?

As stated in the title, I think the Sonos S1 devices (such as the Connect Amp, the Connect and the Playbar) are all connecting to the one and only Google Wifi router in the other room. I would like them to connect to Google Wifi AP that is in the same room as they are. I have everything working except this issue, all the units have a “weak connection” to the Wifi. It would be great if there is a way to make the Sonos units see the local AP.

Hi all,I was looking for some time for a new setup in my living room: have a simple system for music (streaming), TV watching, very occasionally movie (typically I watch movies with headphones not to disturb family and neighbours) and later add turntable. My primary choice was KEF LS50 Wireless II, but due to costs and usage simplicity I’ve chosen Sonos Arc to try (I have no other Sonos products, neither planning to get any, at the moment)And while Arc seems to be good for TV, and obviously movies sound much better, I am bit disappointed in its music performance. I am not audiophile by no means (just know good sound a bit), but to me music sounds very “uninspiring”, especially on low volumes. So the choices I am looking at the moment:Add Sub to Arc - I’ve read that music performance improves, specifically on low volumes, but I presume it will not do miracles (i.e. proper stereo). Also, in order to connect turntable, I would need to buy Port, which would increase the price closer to KEF
