Bien cordialement
Some while ago @countryman came up with an answer to this Question, but the eBay links that pointed to his solution have now expired. Does anyone have the answer?I have a Samsung TV that currently feeds a Sonos Beam via the HDMI-ARC socket on the TV. I need to extract the audio from this feed so that I can drive a pair of headphones at the same time as feeding the Beam. @countryman solution was as follows. Just need the original values of X and YAvoid the passive optical splitters. You get what you pay for. Buy an active optical splitter such as X . Note that the identical unit on Amazon is about 3x the price of this one ! Buy a simple DAC such as Y Connect up the Samsung to the IN of (2), the Sonos Beam to one of the (OUT) and the DAC to another (OUT) Job done.
I purchased the Sonos Arc, Sub and two one Sl's. While I was sort of happy with the Cinema Sound stage, I wasn't happy with the sound of music through this set up. In my opinion, the arc is an awful sound with music only, great with Home Cinema. While I get that this set up is primarily for Home Cinema, I have changed the One Sl's for two fives. However, I only wish Sonos would allow the user to disable the Arc when playing music through the Fives. You can disable the sub and the surrounds, why not the Arc? At the moment I have set the One SL's back up with the Arc and sub and set the Fives up as another room within our living room. A pretty overkill option just to use the Fives as a standalone pair. Im wondering as a work around, if the option of disabling the WiFi of the arc in the app would work? However, I see you need an ethernet cable connected to do this. Maybe if I put an ethernet cable and don't connect to the Router, this will enable the user to use the toggle within the app
I have an arc two subs and two ones. I won’t to be able to hear my music in other rooms. What’s best options to group with?
Hello! Considering the Arc or Beam but would love if I could use my existing Bang Olufsen speakers together with the soundbar and not have to get the Sonos sub. is there anyway i can do that?i have a pair of Beolab Penta and Beolab 3000 and a Beomaster 4500 amp. is there some gadget that would make it possible to use my existing speakers with a sonos soundbar? best regardscarl
Hi,I am planning to simplify my existing whole house Crestron system and do not want use any of existing kit which is getting old and takes up a huge rack. Can someone confirm my understanding is correct please. My understanding is that I could get up and running using a Sonus amp and connect four wired (passive) speakers and sub to the amp and with the app I would have Sonus working in say the lounge. Is this correct? Each amp is a zone, therefore, even though I only have 2 ceiling speakers in 2 other rooms, I cannot connect all four to an amp (number 2) as cannot control independently. Is this correct? Assuming I have 1 & 2 above correct. In order to control four rooms independently (using existing ceiling speakers) I need 4 amps? Am I right in thinking the Sonos amp has the functionality of the port with the addition of ability to power speakers and therefore I don't need to purchase?Thank you!
Sonos Arc with Front and Rear Surrounds! How to connect! Ultimate Sonos surround system with 7 speakers and 2 subs.Setup: 1)Use digital audio splitter2) and 2 Sonos HDMI digital audio adapter. Connect everything via 1 optical cable and 2 hdmi + 2 Sonos HDMI optical adapterThen you have to install 2 system in Sonos app:1) In Sonos app you can connect Sonos Arc with 2 Sonos fives (or Sonos in wall or Sonos ceiling with rear Sonos AMP) + sub2) And second you have to connect Front Sonos APP with Sonos in wall (or Sonos ceiling) + Rear Sonos AMP with Sonos ceiling (or Sonos in wall) + sub. I highly recommend connecting a subwoofer as it will take the bass off the speakers. Since I had a problem that the sonos in wall vibrated a little. But after connecting with a subwoofer, everything became fine.At all you will get fantastic audio experience. How to connect in this video: Moderator Note: Made corrections requested by author.
Hi All - I am wondering what amplifier people use for Sonos Connect products. I have been using Audiosource amps with Behringer EQs for in-wall JBL speakers. The system sounds OK but it’s a lot of components, IMO. I’m curiuos what others have been doing. Also, I am getting a hiss in one of my systems that I have to troubleshoot and that’s adding to my interest in a more robust, reliable set up. Looking forward to hearing backDave
Hi,I am trying to figure out the best solution for my family room. The size of the room us 18X 25. I like live and acoustic music and was wondering what the best combination is? Are 2 Five speakers worth it?
Have just added sub mini to my existing Beam (1) and 2xPlay 1 setup. Appreciate there are other setups ( more £s) but this is the best home cinema setup I’ve experienced to date. Think I’m going to enjoy this upgrade :-)
Hi I currently own Sonos Arc and Sub. I have In ceiling speakers and outdoor that where already in the house. What products do i need to purchase so I can join the Lounge room in ceiling speakers into my theatre setup and also be able to choose to play music outside separately.
Hi all, home has multiple Sonos products, many in stereo pairs. I was going to add a turntable with pre-amp to the mix and I wanted to have those in stereo pair as well. My questions are: A: if I go with the Five, do the stereo pairs need to be close to have a split rca cable to separate left and right channels? And this would lead to longer runs of the cables if this was the case. B: should go with 2 Fives and a port to run the turntable to the audio in, and from there can I arrange stereo pairs with the fives via wifiC: if I go with B, and the room is 20’x20’ are the fives in stereo pair too much and should consider one(s)? bonus question: will the analog output of the turntable, sound better direct from turntable to five, instead of converting to digital and using Wi-Fi for the signal and thus throw everything out the window and go for 1 five with direct input. thanks for considering sharing your opinion! allan
Hello Expert,I had a 10 year old tv which I already replaced with a 164cm QLED.Now i have to replace sound bar. The old one is not worth mentioning. The room is 520 cm * around 500 cm (door on one side and kitchen at the other). My main problem is that the plan agreed with our bouwer does not have much space around the speaker compartment. The plan may not make sense, hence sending a photo of what we started with.My friend suggested Sonos Arc. I took some test in mediamarkt and like them as well. But the problem is that I am not sure how much space is needs above, below and on the side to give the Atmos affect.Renegotiating the agreed design with the builder is almost a deal breaker in Netherlands. And the again i might have to order the steenstrips etc, which may infinitely delay the project.Should I go for Arc or a lower variant? Or can someone suggest minor adjustment in the design that can help. Thanks a lot in advance
I can log into Sonos via website, when using the IOS app I get wrong password or email message. How to fix this? I have 2 new Ports on a new eero wifi/network. Both are hardwired. eero APP shows both connected to network. Port 1 has solid white light, I can AirPlay to this one. I can not log into it or see it on the network via app to add features. I get a message that both app and port need to be on same network, I only have 1 network. How to fix? Port 2, status light flashes: 4 short white 1 long red 1 short white 1 long amber 1 long green Then repeats. I have tried all resets I can find via web with no luck. How do I fix?
So, the long awaited sub arrived yesterday, and I've immediately set it up in my living room (which I believe falls into the Sonos definition of small-medium size) and paired it with Arc and One's as Surround and so far is one of the biggest disappointments I ever had from a piece of tech.I've played music, movies, tv shows and to my hears, I couldn't hear any differences, the sub at 0 is almost not audible, at 5 you can hear something, and bringing it at +15 finally showed some heavy bass, but I don't think that it is normal. On top of that, to me seems like the Arc and Surrounds are still playing those bass notes, instead of handing it down to the Sub and mid - high seems exactly the same as before, and I've expected it to sound better. So I've started experimenting: Tried turning the sub off, made no tangible difference to my hears Tried moving the sub to another room, so that I couldn't hear it, and to my hears the arc was still playing low frequency sounds. Tried turning off the
Can you shuffle stations?
Hi all,After a short two and half year my Sonos one gen2 decided to quit its loyal service. As you can see in the picture below, resistor c285 fried itself. Do you think after replacing the resistor it wil work again? and what resister do i need to get?
Is the hdmi cable provided with the arc is getting the best possible performance for sound??
A podcast I have listened to on Stitcher via Sonos for some time has just moved to be on Spotify only. Now searching via Sonos app for this does not find the podcast. When I search in Spotify app, it is there and I can play on my iPhone but when I try to switch playback to Sonos device, get error message for all Sonos devices “can’t play this right now”. This seems to affect only podcasts rather than playlist or artist searches. Am I correct in assuming that Spotify podcasts can be played via Sonos ? This seems odd if true. Any ideas welcome. Thanks
I have two Play:5s with a Sub Gen 2 and I use them horizontal with Trueplay disabled. Would putting them vertical make any difference to how they sound vs when they are horizontal?
Pretty new to the surround world. Been a Sound Engineer for 25 years so I focused on getting the best stereo sound I could.Just ordered a new Beam Gen 2 and have a couple of older Play:1 speakers. I planned on just keeping the Play:1 as multi room speakers, but I’m curious about adding them as surrounds. If I add them as surrounds, does this affect the Atmos playback in the Beam? As in, does it then try to play all surround content as 5.0 or will it play the Atmos content through the Beam while adding some rear info into the surrounds?Or are the surrounds ignored when playing Atmos content?Having trouble finding this information. Thanks.
I’m not sure how to contact Sonos regarding feature requests so I’ll just add it here and hope for the best: I would like to be able to adjust the amount of the “night mode” effect used. I live in an apartment and there’s only maybe a 2-3 hour window in each day where I can fully enjoy my surround system. Unfortunately that’s during the day when it’s bright in my living room.Because of this I have to use “night mode” almost exclusively when watching content. While it sounds great, it’s a bit too extreme for normal daytime use. If I could bring the effect down 50% it would be perfect. I think that a lot of users would appreciate this function and a lot of purists might be less disgusted to hear it was being used. 😁
With your time with your Sonos setups, what would you like to see Sonos add in future software updates that Sonos currently doesn't offer via software?
Hey allJust after some advice. We have a Playbar set up with two Ones as surround sound. We have a new Five and will connect the record player to.Are we able to add the Five to the surround system or will this have to be a standalone speaker?
I am a very happy and loyal sonos customer, (I am using a translator I hope you will understand my thoughts) surely there have been some requests in the past but I would like to ask the technical department 2 things .. 1) from the sonos app why don't you put a sound bar center channel equalizer?2) or create a free system in the sense that I use my play3 as left and right channel and arc only as center channel
