I was so excited to receive my Sonos Era 300 yesterday. Everything sounded great at first. But last night I was going to fall asleep to some music like I sometimes do and I noticed a static pop sound. It’s like listening to your music while someone is slowly closing a bag of chips.
I tried everything. Unplugged, reset, tried playing through both the Sonos and Apple Music app and it still did it.
Anyone else notice this issue?
I’m hoping it’s a software issue, but I’m not waiting to see if it is
The recent software update (release date: 5/31/2023) included steps that we believe resolved this problem with unwanted noises coming from Era speakers.
If you don’t mind, please ensure you are running the latest software (Settings » System » System Updates » Check for Updates), then test once again and post here whether you continue to hear these noises or not. We’d most especially like to hear from anyone who has installed the update and still hears these noises, but hope not to. Thank you.

IMO it looks like a hardware issue because I rearranged stereo pair (left positioned era as right and right as left) and the first era always has much more "vinyl noise" than the second one

As you are both reporting hearing popping noises coming from your Arcs since you added Era 300s as surrounds, could you both please reproduce the issue and while the source is still playing, submit a support diagnostic, replying here with the given numbers when convenient? Thank you.

Yes - if you hear popping noises (not unlike the pop and crackle from a vinyl record) from your Arc since adding Era speakers as surrounds, please post your diagnostic number here. Thank you.

hi - I am having the same issue (Arc, 2x Era and Sub) - popping/static noises and since the recent update I’m now getting the era 300’s dropping sound. Had none of these issues with the same set up that had 2x Play 3 acting as the surrounds. Diagnostic number 1551964344
Yes same here! I understand this update was to eliminate the crack noise! I will start testing now! So far… so good! Looking forward to your comments….
