is it possible to connect a wireless bluetooth microphone to sonos speaker?
I understand internet access is required for setup. Is a connection required to play via AirPlay once setup is complete? I’m looking to gift this to my parents who do not have Wifi.
I have a Russound A-H484 Multi-Source Multi-Zone Hub. I recently purchased a Sonos Amp, and have the speakers in the room directly connected. Works fine. I would like to connect the Sonos as a ‘source’ to the hub as to leverage the 2 external rooms via the CAT-5 and their own separate amps. Is there a way to treat the Sonos Amp as a source to plug into #1 below, thereby then sending signal to the other two channels? (proposed with the dotted red lines). The goal would be to send signals to the 2 external channels. IMAGE ATTACHED FOR CLARITY. SONOS AMP TO RUSSOUND A-484 HUB
I have a 5.1 system using a Sonos Playbar (not the beam). I have a Sony Bravia 850B and a Comcast Xfinity cable X1 box. I primarily use the Xfinity remote to control to TV and volume (and it was set up using the Sonos app). However, I notice that (it seems) over time that that I've got to crank up the Volume that shows from the remote to almost 100 to get adequate sound. When this happens, and I look at the Sonos app volume, it's inevitably really low and raising it even slightly from the app makes a dramatic difference in the volume of the TV. In other words, its as though the two volume setting are not properly synchronize and are operating at different scales. This would not be so bad if once set they'd stay that way. HELP! Any ideas? This has been going on for well over a year and I finally got around to asking about it. My software (on all devices) is up to date.
how do I get my tv hooked to speakers?
Hello. I have just bought a Beam for my Samsung Q70 tv. Without the Beam my husband can use his Bluetooth headphones at the same time as the TV speaker which is ideal for our situation. With the Beam this is impossible as stated elsewhere in previous topics. My question is can I use the optical output from the TV with an adapter to connect his old headphones, (Sennheiser RS120, which have a RCA jack connector) at the same time as the HDMI Arc to the Beam. The problem being that even with voice enhancement on the Beam he still has trouble distinguishing voices at times and it would be useful at night when he stays up later than me. I can buy an adapter and try it anyway, then return the adapter if it doesn’t work, but I just wondered if anyone has already tried this? Thanks
I have a new Samsung RU7300 TV, and new Bluetooth headphones. Without a Beam plugged into the HDMI ARC port : I can switch audio output from TV speaker to headphones without problem. My selection sticks. With a Beam plugged into the HDMI ARC port : When I switch audio output from the Beam to TV speakers, or to the headphones, the selection works for one or two seconds, then switches back to the Beam by itself. I need to know fast if it's incompatible so that I can return the Beam to the store if it's not. I tried as a workaround to plug the Beam into the TV's optical audio output. Problem : no volume control from the TV remote. So not acceptable.
First of all, I am really enjoying my Sonos setup for the most part, but I am having a little trouble with my Beam. A little background and setup description. Purchased a pair of Play One’s a while ago. Love. Love. Love. Purchased a pair of SYMFONISK Sonos speakers. Love. All speakers have been tuned with Trueplay Researched the Beam and nearly every single review was glowing. As a satisfied customer of the Play One’s and the Symfonisk, I figured what the heck and bought it. The beam is currently hooked up to my TV via ARC and paired with the Symfonisk speakers as surround. The Beam just does not sound very good as compared to the other Sonos products I have. When listening to TV/Movies, it sounds tinny and thin. There’s little base or substance to the vocals. The cheap Vizio soundbar I had previously sounded much richer and was not much larger. While playing music, the Beam sounds lack-luster as compared to the Play One’s or symfonisk. I even tried comparing just the one Pl
Hi, Had SONOS many years and been quite happy with streamed Spotify and feeding via Connect from my HIFI. However now trying the higher quality streaming available. The issue I have is that if I use Qobuz via the app and Airplay its clear I am playing CD/FLAC but there is nothing in SONOS other than Qobuz place (FLAC) in brackets after the track name. If I search for say the Adele 21 album and then select Play the album is played in 320 but if I select each track individually the CD (FLAC) track version is played. Is there a way to ensure I pick up the higher quality track if available?
How do i turn off wifi on hard wired players? This thread indicates it is in the controller. I’m sure I’ve seen it there before, but cannot find it. https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/disabling-wifi-6814228 These article indicates the same: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/3684?language=en_US When I try: https://bsteiner.info/articles/disabling-sonos-wifi “To disable the WiFi link start by issuing the following HTTP request: http://<sonos_ip>:1400/wifictrl?wifi=off You should get the following answer: wifictrl request succeeded HTTP 200 OK You can also check that the link has indeed been disabled by going back to the status page. The 'ath0' entry should not be present anymore. The setting is not persistent, so if you happen to be unable to connect to your player after disabling the WiFi you can undo the change by power cycling the player. If you want to disable the WiFi link for good, simply issue the following http request: http://<sonos_ip>:1

Recently purchased this TV: LG OLED55E9PU E9 Series OLED TV (2019) I can’t figure out how to play surround sound from the TV. Surround sound from my Beam, 2 Sonos One’s, and Sub work when using AirPlay but audio for surround speakers and sub drops when playing from the TV. Links to videos or walk-thrus would be much appreciated. thanks!
Is there a Sonos Controller App for a Windows desktop computer
I’m a technical person but relatively new to Sonos and home audio so apologies if this is a dumb question. I have a Sonos Amp with two ceiling speakers and a Sub, all working fine from the Sonos app and through an Amazon Echo. I want to add a projector with which to play movies, and have the sound come through the Sonos. I have several Fire TVs and an Apple TV hanging around, and I feel sure there should be a way to get one of them to work. Having researched quite a bit (this forum is awesome btw!) I think I have to split the sound element off before it gets to the projector. Fair enough, I can get an HDMI splitter. But, what gadget do I need to get the Amp to pick up the split-off sound? Conceptually it needs to somehow wirelessly broadcast the sound back to the Amp - what sort of thing does that? Or is there some clever way to get the Fire TV to send it directly? I would like to keep the amount of stuff attached to the projector to a minimum, so a Fire TV stick would be my preferre
Have a new PLAYBASE running alongside a setup with a Harmony One (complete with Hub). Added the PLAYBASE to the Harmony config, but there are no options for the new, TV-specific features. Anyone have any luck adding these so they can be controlled via the Harmony (and I don't need to power-up my iPhone, etc).
Hi Guys ... I just got my new Sonos Beam a few days ago and just got around to setting it up today. The set up on my Samsung UN55J6300 was pretty straight forward. The Sonos app walk through was pretty simple. I’m connected to my TV through my HDMI/ARC port. The sound was great and then about an hour later when I came back to the TV, I’m not getting any sound from my Beam. I tried hitting the reset at the back of the Beam and the lights flashed but still no sound. The Beam can play music from my Google Play account so I know the speaker is working. I went to the TV setup section of my Sonos App and it will say that there’s an issue with the connection of my TV. I’ve checked the HDMI ports and everything is plugged in securely. I’m using the HDMI cable supplied by Sonos. I’ve checked to ensure that my Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) setting on my TV is turned ‘ON’. But yet, when I try to test the connection, it will say “Anynet+ not connected ... please try again”. I’ve tried mul
Hi everyone, recently got hooked into Sonos for home audio and decided to replace my home theater with a Sonos 5.1 system. However, I seem to have run into a problem many before me have, which is TV only showing up as Stereo in Windows. Current setup:Beam+Sub+2 SymfonisksSources: Sony Blu-ray player and an Intel NUC (8th gen) with Kodi 18. TV: Panasonic HDTV, 2015 model.Am I wasting my time in trying to find a solution to get a solution using Windows or has someone made this combination work?
Are there any issues, such as overheating in stacking one Sonos amp on another? I’m sure this question must have been asked but I was unable to find anything when searching on the question.
I was shocked and disgusted to find a whole colony of ants living in my Sonos one, in my living room. Don’t know what to do. When I lifted the speaker after seeing the trail of ants around it, these white little beads fell out of the speaker. My hand was also immediately infested with hundreds of ants. Not only am I traumatized, but I have no idea what to do to get them out and save my speaker.
I play my vinyl records through a turntable which is connected to a pre-amp and then to a play:5. It is a great combination as it combines old and new enabling me to listen to my records, CD, and music streaming, without having too many boxes (which the wife hates). The only drawback is that there isn’t a headphone connection on any of the units which would enable me to listen to the music in peace while the family are clattering around the room. Looking at the messages on the community this doesn’t appear to be a new problem but has anyone found a way around it (please note the comment about not having too many boxes). thanks.
I connected a Beam to my LG C9 OLED TV (US version) via HDMI-arc as recommended in Sonos app setup. Using the LG Magic Remote I can control TV volume up/down and mute, but I can no longer turn the TV power on or off! The remote setup automatically via LG Device Connector, TV automatically setup the device to work as a universal remote. Connecting the Beam also stopped my FireTV Stick 4K remote from controlling the LG TV volume and power on/off. After setting up the FTV Remote with Sonos manually via the Sonos App (Settings > Room Settings > Beam Room > Remote > Remote Control Setup), I was able to get volume up/down and mute working, but it still can't turn the LG TV power on/off. The only solution I have to turning the TV on/off is asking Alexa, somehow that works but the remotes' power buttons have been disabled. I've seen several posts on remote issues with LG (and others), no clear solutions. This Sonos article discusses using the LG Remote by using Optical connect
Hey all, Thinking about getting a Sonos Beam as TV Soundbar, but somehow concerned about the level of data privacy/security when bringing in another microphone in my home. Can you please explain how the Sonos Beam is designed once it comes to deactivating the Microphone when pressing the button on top of the device? E.g. is the light part of the electric circuit of the microphones or is it only a software-wise deactivation of the device? Is it possible to remotely activate the microphone e.g.? Is the microphone still listening/recording even if deactivated? Is the microphone listening/recording if Alexa/Google Assistant aren’t setup? I would really appreciate some input as it helps me to take a decision on which soundbar to buy. Thank you and best regards, Kai
Hi, using iPad and iPhone. Is it possible to run Sonos Move via airplay on Sonos Port own wifi? Sonos Port is connected to a router with wifi with ethernet cable and sonos move is using the routers wifi not Sonos wifi. Having trouble with neighbours having fun with the balance and pause buttons. Very anoying. i am looking for a way to use Sonos Move only on or in the sonos net 2.0 network? Is it possible? It may also be that my iPad OS and IOS is hacked,. They paused my Sonos Port yesterday while only using Sonos port. Coaxial out to an amplifier. I have named my two Sonos Move speakers Dining Room IN Norwegian. There is a kitchen room in my airplay devices at the at the shut down screen with time and date and log in screen. Choose output device option after song title. Ios ipad os log in screen. That is not one of my rooms (kitchen). They may have a duplicate of my Sonos system.
I am having a problem with the TV Input on Sonos Amp.. it’s attached to TV via optical cable. It will work intermittently, then essentially stops working and the controls are greyed out. Volume slider does nothing either. All other sources work fine. Any thoughts?
