I just got a Sonos 5 delivered yesterday and already have a Sonos Play 5 (2nd generation). i tried to Stereo Pair them on the Sonos app and it does not seem to work. I was really looking forward to the stereo pair and assumed they were compatible. Can I Stereo Pair a Play 5 with a Sonos Five? I think i already know the answer and they are considered two different products. Thank you, Juan
I got my Sonos Move yesterday and intend to use it in our patio. To my horror, it started playing and then went dead. The WiFi signal wasn’t strong enough and the patio is maybe 5 or six steps from the router but on the other side of a sliding glass door. I have had a Sonos One sitting on the patio but almost touching the door and it works fine. But it is using the Sonos network, not WiFi. If I open the door, the Move works fine but I let the air conditioning out. I thought the Move is using 5.0 - not 2.4 (which can go through glass doors easier, I believe) but it already is using 2.4 and the title of this post is wrong. I found an iPhone App to measure WiFi signal strength and walked around measuring with the glass door closed…..I found a “hot spot” and I believe it is because the spot also had a view of the bedroom window and was getting signal from there as well (I have a Google WiFi mesh with a node in that bedroom. The Move works well in this hot spot but it isn’
I have a 5Ghz router which of course also can use 2.4 ghz. The sonos app can only find the 2.4ghz network, why is that? ( i use an older bridge to connect my system). if the sonos system uses 2.4 ghz network and my app device uses 5ghz i can see and control all of my speakers but not the Sonos move. That i do not understand. Someone who can explain that to me.
I am away from home in a family house (different wifi network, geographically separated), but have bought a Sonos Move. What’s the best way to set it up? I want to be able to start using it, but then when I go home have it join the rest of my main Sonos system. Should I set up the move with a new/different Sonos account (email) at my family home, and then when I return home, should I factory reset the move and re-set it up on my home wifi + home Sonos account? Should I first set up the Move using the same Sonos account but different Sonos system (apparently one account can have multiple systems?). Then when I take the Move home, somehow have it join my home system (I hear the Move can join multiple wifi networks?) Is one better/cleaner? I don’t plan on moving back and forth between these two places, I just don’t happen to be at home when first starting to use the Move.
When trying to AirPlay from iMac 17-inch, Late 2006 running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) I’m getting an error: An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device “Move”. An unknown error occurred (20). iTunes version 12.2.2.25At the same time, airplaying to Beam with 2 Play:1s works fine. Any ideas?Thank you.
I am trying to setup a new Sonos move, and when I get to the WiFi setup screen on my iPad and choose my WiFi network, the next screen says “Enter your network password. We’ll set Sonos up on: <MyWiFiSSID>”… and on this screen there is no box to actually enter the WiFi network’s password. Then when I click Continue, I get “Verify network info for <MyWiFiSSID> Please wait”…, then after about 20-30 seconds, I get the error “Password incorrect. You need to enter the correct password to set up this speaker wirelessly.”What am I missing? Whey doesn’t the app have a place to actually enter your WiFi network’s password?… I am stuck and cannot continue beyond that point.
I’m sure this has been asked, but I couldn’t find an answer to this. I previous was living in a place with my own internet, modem and router. I just moved and the unit I’m moving to shares internet with the unit upstairs where the WiFi router is, so now have no wired options available to me. I need to update my play de, Sonos 5 and two sonos 1’s to the new internet via WiFi. Is this possible? If so how do I do it?
