If anyone is looking to buy these expensive sonos mounts, think twice. I purchased 2 of the playbox mounts. Upon having my amazing electrician install them, my play1 speakers keep hitting the end piece of power cable. the power box that they include is not deep enough. After many videos back and forth to Thenos support, they claim there are "tricks to installing them" ok i said. They sent me pictures of their power outlet and it's different from the ones they included in my shipment. Their power outlet is deeper. i tried to call them 20 times and it always goes to voicemail. I tried to get in contact with the business owner but he refuses to reach out. His secretary is the only one responding after i threatened to do a chargeback. When you watch their installation videos, they make it look so easy LOL. Well it's not. I spent good money to have my electrician install these pieces of crap. I finally got one of them installed after many attempts with a screwdriver to pry the

Really need some help figuring out which way is up here. I want to use my speakers with my AppleTV for watching movies and listening to music. I listened to demo speakers at the store. To be honest, a pair of Play5s may just be enough for my taste, but would like the option for true stereo later on. The AppleTV can connect to the One, Play5, and Beam through AirPlay or I can do the Beam through HDMI ARC. If I if I just get a 5 to start and get a second one later, will they be stereo L/R or just two speakers playing the same thing? If I get the Beam and connect with ARC, will it set up a network that I can then use with non-AirPlay speakers like the Play1?

I'm in the process of wall mounting my sonos playbar and while working through it I have come up with a few issues that I'm hoping others have solved. The first is when you wall mount the unit, the standard optical cable when plugged into the playbar sticks out past the bottom which doesn't look very good. I purchased an optical elbow, but now when I try run the optical cable through the small hole in the middle of the wall mount bracket, I'm unable to bend the optical cable enough to get a flush mount. Has anyone solved this optical cable problem? Also, does sonos have a cover for the cable connection area that can be installed when wall mounted so that none of the cable connections are visible?

Hello I have had a Sonos Beam since about July 2018 and I'm loving it. So much so I expanded my setup to include two Play 1's to create surround sound and a Sonos One in the kitchen. However there is one thing that I can't quite work out. When I turn the TV on from Stand-by sometimes the I get no sound when connected though my SKY+ HD box. I have to use the AV switch on my Panasonic TV to change to the SONOS ARC input or the TV Ariel input channel. The sound then starts and I have to wait for about 5 - 10 seconds before I can switch the input back to the SKY+ HD input ( HDMI) and then it will work. This does not seem to affect Airplay or Alexa etc so I'm not sure what the issue might be. I have tried a re-setup and power down etc but the issue returns. Anyone have this issue?

Has anyone successfully connected an iMac to their Beam? If so, what input/output did you use?

I have some funny shift patterns so it means I can end up watching TV when the rest of my family is in bed, rather than have to use the TV/Beam I thought it would be best to grab a set of good bluetooth headphones for such occasions. It seems with the Beam being 'always on' my TV always reverts back to receiver (Beam) after selcting the headphone connection....the only way I can use my headphones is if I unplug the HDMI ARC connection which isnt ideal. My TV is a Samsung NU7400..not sure if its a Sonos thing or a Samsung thing. I think an option to sleep the Beam or turn it off somehow would resolve the issue.

Hello, I am trying to solve a problem that has been triggered by my recent acquisition of a NVIDIA Shield TV Earlier my setup was: Amazon FireTV->HDMI->Samsung JU7005->TOSLINK->Sonos Playbar+Sonos Sub + 2xPlay1 With the above setup, playing anything from netflix on either Amazon Fire TV app or Samsung App, resulted in a fine 5.1 dolby digital sound output on Sonos No I have attached the NVIDIA Shield TV in the same way NVIDIA Shield->HDMI->Samsung JU7005->TOSLINK->Sonos Playbar+Sonos Sub + 2xPlay1 Anything I play on Netflix App on NVIDIA causes the Sonos to play stereo only. I have spent some time with NVIDIA Support and it turns out that the core reasons are: 1) Netflix always outputs with dolby digital plus or PCM, no dolby digital (at least with my subscription) 2) NVIDIA Shield TV is not capable of downsampling from dolby digital plus to dolby digital (Samsung TV and Amazon fire tv can) 3) Samsung TV advertises it's sound capabilities to NVIDIA TV and only lists D

Hi All I currently have playbase, sub, and two ones in 5.1 via digital out going from base to TV with numerous devices connected via HDMI to TV. I've never really managed to cure lip sync issues with this setup, in some cases its just about noticeable in other cases its like a full second out, especially with some Sky Q channels. Now that the beam is HDMI arc (I have sony A1 so no problems with that) I'm seriously considering switching to the beam. Am I right in thinking they'll be no such lip sync issues for a start? As I've also got sub and ones in 5.1, would I really notice a huge difference in sound quality by switching the playbase to a beam? My main use is as TV surround, secondary is music. Finally, would it be ok to tuck just under a TV cabinet on the floor, as the Sony A1 has no clearance for anything directly in front of it at all? Thanks :-) Paul

As the title says i've ordered the Beam and it should arrive tomorrow. I currently have a sub paired with two play 1s (with a play 5 as my center speaker for music/not TV). The play 5 will now go upstairs so do i keep my sub paired with the play 1's when i connect the beam to my TV or does the sub sound better paired with the beam?

Hello, I have a beam connected to the following TV via HDMI (ARC): TCL - 49" Class - LED - 4 Series - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR Roku TV I can NOT get the visuals to synch with the audio (ie lip synch issues). I have (obviously) tried adjusting the delay under the settings for the Beam on the app, but that only makes it worse. It renders watching tv/movies unwatchable. Anyone else experiencing this/any ideas? Thank you. George

Hi. Just connected my Sonos Beam to my Toshiba 43u6863db via the HDMI ARC. Content via Apple TV HDMI. All working well apart from sound output appears to be in stereo. Settings in Apple TV set to Dolby 5.1. Is this normal or can the Beam accept Dolby sound without additional satellite speakers? Many thanks.

Speech in movies tv are so anoying loud its sounds like broken tweeters you hear the word s like ssss. I have retuned true play few times this dont help.changed treble and speach and clear voice no diffrent Also its on every source. Also the sub level was lover after few weeks that i have turn it up. The set-up: (new) LG oled65B7A TV , Roku Stick Plus with Sonos PlayBar, paired Play 1's and a Sonos subwoofer. Audio wise everything works fine (audio and video) thru cable box and Roku Stick+ to watch Netflix or any of the other streaming channels EXCEPT for when I try to watch any Amazon Prime videos. Then suddenly no sound comes from the Playbar? I've reset the TV changed various sound inputs but not luck. For whatever reason sound does not come thru when watching Amazon Prime. Prior, with the same setup but a different TV all was working fine, sound from Amazon Prime video's was not an issue. Any ideas on what may be causing the sound issue with Prime video watching? I've spent hours trying to figure it out and searching online. Thanks!

For the standalone Sanus TV Mount for Sonos Beam (link below) https://www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/sanus-tv-mount-beam.html Can I mount this on top of the TV set? It is only photographed mounting underneath. Looks like you could flip it around, but just wanted to confirm before purchasing. Thanks to anyone who could answer! Also, any experiences with this mount, love to hear!

COME ON SONOS!!! This is getting to the point of pathetic. Get your business into the 21sy century and work on at 7.1 surround sound update. Maybe we have to throw this Sonos system in the trash and go to your competitor for the outdated abilty of 7.1. The question is when are you going to sort this out?

My family enjoys backyard movies. I am setting up an Amp with outdoor speakers. If I have my iPad plugged into the projector (for video), can I simultaneously use Airplay to the Amp for the sound? Or does plugging into the iPad make Airplay through the Amp unavailabile? Thank you

I have connect my TV to my Beam via the HDMI-ARC which is HDMI 1 HDMI 2 is connected from my TV to my Mag322 iptv box and all is working well however The HDMI 3 from my TV to my SKY box although I get a picture I cannot get any sound to work Does anybody know what I might have done wrong or the correct way to get both the iptv box and my SKY box to work I use the sky box as a back up when I get internet issues and also for some specific programs that I do not get on my iptv system Thanks

I have a room in my attic with a couch against the back wall. I have a 5.1setup with. Beam, sub, and two play ones. My plan is to mount the play ones to the wall on either side of the couch. Is there and optimal distance (both height and width from couch) to mount? The reason is ask is because if I can mount them fairly close to the corners of the couch, I will be fine running the wires directly down the wall behind the couch, but if I mount them above and to the side I will mostly likely look to put outlets where I plan to mount or an in wall power kit to hide wires.

Hoping someone here can help me figure this one out. I am having lip sync issues with my video provider, Charter Spectrum, for their basic US cable package - for both Live Programming, and DVR'ed programs (interestingly, the lip sync is even more pronounced on DVR, but it is pretty bad as well on live feeds). Here is my basic setup: Cable Box: Spectrum 201 (it's Spectrum's latest gen box) Television Set: Samsung QN49Q6F (QLED 4K UHD 6 Series Smart TV 2018) Sonos Beam Set-Up: Optical directly from the Beam to the Television Things I've attempted: 1. I've tried a variety of setting combinations on both the Cable Box (my only options were to toggle audio output between "Dolby Digital", "HDMI", or "Other"), and on the Television. Nothing has helped, or seemed markedly better than the other combination. 2. Had a Spectrum technician come over - he said my only option to resolve the lip sync issue is to connect the optical directly from the Spectrum 201 to the Beam - this

My initial setup went fine and the Beam worked as advertised. The setup was temporary while the Pro Wall Set-up was being finished. After mounting the TV, and the Beam along with a DVD Blue Ray the audio playback went from ARC/HDMI to television thru the Beam (and no Dolby & Atmos etc) Sonos App would not resolve to getting a good CEC (Samsung AnyNet) connection. The steps in the following URL worked: https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/enabling-cec-on-your-tv-for-beam-6810049/index1.html#post16251595 My hunch is the BlueRay was hogging the connection.... All steps followed and Bob's your Uncle. Cheers

I have a Playbar, and a Samsung TV that won't pass through 5.1 from its optical out if the input is HDMI. Our Motorola cable box is connected to our TV using HDMI, and I want to get the 5.1 when I watch TV. I've looked through the questions and answers posted here and elsewhere, and it seems like some people have used an HDMI switch from Monoprice with an optical out to get around this problem.  The suggestion is to connect the HDMI source to the HDMI switch, and the HDMI switch sends out the full 5.1 audio through the optical out and into the Playbar.  (I'll call this the "HDMI switch" approach.)   The other approach is to connect the cable box's optical out directly to the Playbar.  (I'll call this the "cable box direct" approach.)  This works, but I don't like this approach because we leave our cable box on at all times, and when we turn off the TV, the Playbar still plays audio from the cable box, as the Playbar has no idea that the TV's been turned off.

I cannot connect the Smart Remote volume button to the Sonos Soundbar.

TV surround / party sounds - hi I currently have one Play 1. I am looking to buy a TV soundbar and also want some good sounds for an upcoming party. Is a Beam and additional Play 1 the way to go? I would keep the Play 1s together in one room in the future for music and the Beam in another room for the TV but bring them all together for the party. I do have a budget unfortunately. Sorry i'm really green with all this stuff - I've been trying to do some research but would really appreciate your advice. Thanks.

I was playing around with the settings in my new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, and I saw this on my phone while checking what audio in the Beam was receiving!:D Edit: It shows that the audio in is Dolby Digital Plus in the controller app on my phone, but I get no sound! Just to clarify!;)

Beam in PCM mode = audio in sync. Beam when outputting Dolby Digital is out of sync by about half a second (tv plus Netflix/amazon etc..) ARC or optical makes no difference. The sound quality is great with both formats but their is also a noticeable rise in quality with DD. I was wanting to get 2 Play One's and have surround sound but can this be the case if i stay in PCM mode or would i be wasting my money? The sync is noticeable enough using Dolby Digital that it's not viable even though the sound is better. TV is middle of the range Sony.
