Sonos Beam instead of Base?

Hi All

I currently have playbase, sub, and two ones in 5.1 via digital out going from base to TV with numerous devices connected via HDMI to TV. I've never really managed to cure lip sync issues with this setup, in some cases its just about noticeable in other cases its like a full second out, especially with some Sky Q channels.
Now that the beam is HDMI arc (I have sony A1 so no problems with that) I'm seriously considering switching to the beam. Am I right in thinking they'll be no such lip sync issues for a start? As I've also got sub and ones in 5.1, would I really notice a huge difference in sound quality by switching the playbase to a beam? My main use is as TV surround, secondary is music. Finally, would it be ok to tuck just under a TV cabinet on the floor, as the Sony A1 has no clearance for anything directly in front of it at all?

HDMI arc is no guarantee for lip sync issues to be fixed

You want to bet in touch with support you should be having these issues

I frequent avs forum and just about every soundbar manufacturer has lip sync issues for some people, sometimes the sound bars need to be returned for a replacement

Thanks for that. Just to add if I connect directly bar to device it'll be (acceptably) ok. It appears the 'pass thru' in the TV causes most of the problems. I was hoping HDMI arc might have better settings for audio control, to help correct the issue? But maybe it'll be just as bad. 😉

Did you switch to to the Beam? I also own the Sony A1e tv and I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the sound improvement if I just added the Beam to my set-up. Is it worth it? Thanks.
