Get help and assistance with your Sonos system

I’ve got an unusual issue which has started over the last few weeks.The Sonos in my bedroom (Wired Sonos Amp S2) when playing BBC sounds keeps dropping out - sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes every 1 minute. The stream sometimes recovers after a 5 seconds, other times it simply stops.This morning, when I played the same stream via my desktop App, it actually has given me a more useful error message (than I got from the App) stating “song not encoded properly” ?However, if I play BBC Sounds via my mobile or desktop, it plays perfectly.I’ve done the normal “reboot everything” including internet.I’ve also setup continual PINGs from my desktop to the Sonos in question (just in case its somehow having connection issues) and to the Internet (just in case my Internet is failing). Everything shows a constant connection. Obviously Sonos buffers the audio stream anyway, so the odd packet loss should not impact it (if I stop the internet it takes around 25 seconds before the radio actually st

Curiosity …What can I learn from the information I can see when I go to ‘About my Sonos system…’ ?I understand the serial numbers (MAC addresses plus a character), Sonos OS (mine are all S2), IP addresses, and wireless modes (presently mine are all WM:0).I take the hardware version and ‘Version’ (software version) to be self-explanatory.Series ID is interesting.  I wonder what it means.OTP is even more interesting.  Some of my players have this and some not.  I wonder whether it’s something to do with SonosNet.  Perhaps, if I understood it, I’d know which players are supporting which other players in the network.  This could be useful if I were planning to move them.  FYI, presently only the Boost is wired to my router. Peter

Hi, I work from home as a call centre agent and use my Sonos five stereopair every single day. Hi, I work from home as a call centre agent and use my Sonos five stereopair every single day. Up until the app update, I used to have it set at 3% which was perfect. Just enough noise in the background, but not too loud that it became distracting whilst taking calls. Since the update however, one percent is way louder than even 3% was before the update took place.I've tried other products in the house and they all seem fine, it is just this pair of fives.  I've tried other products in the house and they all seem fine, it is just this pair of fives. We have another five in the dining room which is connected to a mixing desk through a line in cable, and a one SL in the kitchen which, at one percent, is way quieter than the stereo pair in the front room where I work.  is way quieter than the stereo pair in the front room where I work. Currently both my Sonos 5 Gen 1s are working well with S1 on iPad. Wondering if I can install the Sonos S1 for windows and also control the speakers? Will it conflict and break anything?

Currently with the imminent release of IOS 18 apple has made available the possibility of listening to the dolby atmos format via AirPlay 2 pre for third-party manufacturers.

Just what the title says. The names of my Apple Music playlists are just blanks, just white space. This is true on my iPhone, my iPad, my desktop controller (Windows) and my Apple Fire tablet. All are S1; don’t get me started on how Sonos has abandoned users of S1.This seems to be a system problem and not a matter of deleting-then-adding my Apple Music service, which I’ve already done. Do any other users see this? Is Sonos aware and are they addressing it?

I have not used my (probably 2nd gen) sonos system for five years. Getting it set up and on a new wifi system in my new house has been impenetrable, and I don’t have an RJ45 cable to tie it into the router. Is it possible that there is not bluetooth device configuration on these? And the discussions I see about this are not very encouraging. Is it the case that I have to establish the system on the new wifi network via cable somehow in order to configure any of it to work in the new house. Feels like poor design, even for the time. 

When e.g. sonos radio is played, or music from Idagio is played from my Android tablet, I cannot overtake it from my iPad, even after stopping the music on Android. Message shown is “playback has started from another device". Also, Android insists it is playing after it has been stopped, either on the Android app or using the touch button on the Sonos device.The Android tablet needs to be restarted to solve this. Force closing the app does not help.I have 3 Play5s, one LR pair and a single in another room. 

HelloI have just purchased a Sub Mini and it will not connect to my pair of Play 1s. It says “There was a problem adding your sub mini”. I spent about an hour online chatting with a Sonos rep and we went through all the troubleshooting - rebooting/factory settings etc. I also have a large size sub in another room which has worked fine for over five years, so there is nothing wrong with my router! Why do they always look to blame the router? There is nothing wrong with all my other working Sonos connections either.Has anyone had similar problems? If so, how was it sorted out? If at all. 

Hi I am a Mac user with an iTunes library that I am trying to add to the new app, I have followed the guide setting up the folder as a network share etc… it seems to start the process saying updating music library then it stops with the following see screenshot. Before anyone asks the music folder is on the internal SSD drive

Hi I have 4 Connect Amps that have been working fine for some years but just recently they are dropping the Audio for a few seconds which is very annoying. I have spoken to Sonos Support on a few occasions and done everything they have suggested to fix this which they say is WiFi Interference such as switching channels etc but still have problems. This happens on any music source but I have noticed when the speakers go silent the sound levels are still going up and down on the app as if its playing the audio in other words not muted, not sure if this helps identify the problem. I am getting to the point now where soon these will be removed as they just aren't worth the hassle. I have seen a few threads where people have had the same problem but the only answers I have seen are contact Sonos Support.Has anyone had this problem and got a viable solution??????Some posts suggest an issue with S2 being introduced so does anyone know if this is a problem??

My Sonos ace are giving me problems with cracking static sounding noises not only at high volume but low volume but when I open up the Sonos app it like it stops completely just wondering if i should trade my pair In

Since the ‘upgrade’ I’m unable to connect to the wired Booster so I can adjust volume on my stereo. Is this something I can fix or is this an upgrade problem? 

I have connected my move 2 to my WiFi and it says it will appear on the app once I turn it off and on again but then it never does. Please help. 

I currently have one Roam 2 that I am able to connect via bluetooth to my Denon AVR 760H and use without any major issues (minor issue in the process of reconnecting when the receiver is powered off).I was wondering how would I pair two Roam 2 speakers and get my Denon to see and use them as a pair (single bluetooth connection)? And when they are paired, is each volume control on top of the speaker itself (not using the receiver volume control since it is not supported per Denon) independent, or does reducing the volume on one reduce the volume on the other when they are paired? Again, volume controls on top of the speakers only.Thank you!

Beam + 2x Era300 + Sub Mini 2 Hi all, The sofa is centered against the TV.You see I don't have plenty of space to move. I am thinking of getting wall mounts and I want to place the Era300 in 30* degree. Listening plenty of music, sometimes movies.What would be the best position to place them taking into account my situation for the best Atmos? Thank you  

Before I completely go mad! I’ve spent hours with Panasonic who sent me back to Sonos so I have no spoken to 3 times and have just got a new optical lead.The sound will come through the Ray but will not stop going through the TV. I’ve tried both not using my TV remote and using my app but then there is no sound through the Ray. live turned off and turned down the speakers on the TV but I cannot  operate the ray with out the sound coming on the tv. I can just listen to the tv by turning down the Ray but not the other way round.im at my end with it all.My old telly worked perfectly.i do understand that this Panasonic is made else where than other Panasonics and I’ve checked ideas from others but nothing will.Am I going to have to buy a new TV because of this crazy situation which is driving me slightly crazy. Help! 

AGAIN!When im listening music on Spotify through WiFi, i can’t control volume using IPhone buttons. Same thing happened few months back, on both of my speakers (Move and Roam).When i want to turn the volume up (using buttons) suddenly the volume bar pops out and i have to slide it left or right to adjust my volume. It’s the only way to control it.To sum up. If im playing the music on wifi mode and want to change the volume (and my iPhone is laying on the table, blocked), instead of just clicking the buttons, i have to pick it up, unlock, open Spotify, THEN click the buttons on the side, THEN the volume bar pops up and i can change it by sliding left or right… Is this a joke? 

I have Sonos Five. It plays Sonos radio fine but when I play Apple Music it stops or skips. It started a couple months ago and the last few weeks it has gotten worse. Now the apple music will stop playing after a few minutes but if I switch it to Sonos radio it will play just fine with no stops or skip.  

HiI have a Sonos Connect S1 and I would like to see my Upnp server or access to the file.I have a netgear Ax1800. The serveur is see by buble upnp and files aslo with VLC.But Conect S1 do not propose the content of the netbios repository and I cannot create an access to the files. I gave it the name DNLARAX20 in my netgear parameters. This should be \\DNLARAX20 without name or access.But that don not work.Do you know how to do ?

I have multiple problems with my garbage sonos system. Fixes are always temporary and I have gotten in a habit to always reset my android phone, wi fi, and unplug every sonos piece of garbage on my system before plugging them back AFTER the wi fi is back online.  That does not always work on the first run. I own a garbage beam, garbage playbar, 2 garbage SLs, a garbage sub, and a garbage move 2. I have been using the latest garbage app since it was launched. Somebody please help with this sonos garbage.

After a long period of not frequently using my Sonos Play 5 Gen 1 based system I turned it on this morning to find that while I can DNLA MP3 encoded files. My 22,000 FLAC and AIFF encoded files are returning a “file not correctly encoded” error. For the last 20 years or so the system has worked absolutely fine. The last time I used it was Dec 2023. So I guess a recent firmware update is to blame.All my music is stored locally I do not stream or own music purchased online.Is there any common wisdom which I am missing on this matter which may guide me out of this situation ?

Hello everyone,My Beam gen 1 keeps stopping the music (from Spotify) on its own. I really don't understand why. Sometimes it stops after 15mn, sometimes 1 hour, it's very random.I already did a factory reset. No difference.I don't have any problem with my Beam gen and 2 and Roam SL.I set a static IP for it in my router like for the 2 other Sonos products.Would you have any idea why this is happening? I've been having that problem for years now.Thanks so much for any idea.Greg

Using the Sonos/Tidal music service on an iPhone. An artist’s radio will not play properly. So I tried using the Sonos/Tidal service on my PC. Used play to choose play now. The artist’s radio plays fine. Then I saved the Queue as a Sonos playlist. And gave it a name. Now It shows up as a Sonos Playlist on my PC without opening Tidal.  As well, the playlist shows up in the Sonos app on my iPhone as a Sonos  Favourite. Without opening Tidal. Plays fine. This is great because I like having a number of playlists on tap depending upon the mood. It is easy to remove a playlist and add a new ones.
