Hi, thinking of upgrading from SL one to era 300. Considering buying two Era 300 and doing stereo pair. Challenge is that I want to put them on the window sill, and the diameter there is about 5 inches, which work well for the SL one but may be too small for the Era 300. See pictures attached. Do you think I can still place the 300s there? Green circles are where I’d be locating the speakers (and where I currently have the Ones now). I don’t feel like putting them on stands as I don’t think the area would look good. Alternatively, considering the Five, which would fit well.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

Hey @Saltdiver, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I must say, that’s a very beautiful living room! 🙂

Era 300 -> Dimensions (H x W x D) 6.3 x 10.24 x 7.28 in / 160 x 260 x 185 mm
Five -> Dimensions (W x H x D) 14.33 x 8.03 x 6.06 in / 364 x 203 x 154 mm

Sonos One SL -> Dimensions (H x W x D) 6.36 x 4.69 x 4.69 in / 161.45 x 119.7 x 119.7 mm

If you believe that the Sonos Five would fit there well, I’d personally choose that, because that extra 1.16 in / 31 mm of depth hanging out (or even more by the looks of it) scares me for the possibility of it falling down.

But maybe that’s just me! If you’d like to try, go for it but I would suggest to do the purchase directly from Sonos.com, that way you can take advantage of our return policy if not satisfied by the outcome.

I hope this helps.

Or wall mount them on the pillars between windows.

Another approach would be attaching a flat plate to the windowsill.

Note that the 300’s emit audio out the sides. Placing the 300 at the center of a window is better than placing at a side.

I agree with @buzz to use a flat plate to give an extra couple of inches if using an Era 300. There are a couple of ridges underneath the Era 300 that make contact with the surface and likely the front ridge would overhang the windowsill otherwise so Era 300 would be at a slight downward angle.

I’d have doubts over the Five working well in that location as the power cable extends out the back. Placing them horizontal rather than vertical may make them more stable if you did go that route.

Another option would be upgrading to Move 2 instead. Their footprint would fit nicely on the windowsill and give you portable speakers for use on the balcony.

the challenge would be the power cords, would need to find a way to hide them

Thanks, will give it a try and if doesn’t work then will return. Good to know about the return policy.

I’m trying to put two speakers in that space and do a stereo pair, I don’t think i can do that with the Move. I’ll try the Five and if it doesn’t work will return and then just do Era 100.

Plastic trunking? Not ideal, but a bit more discreet than the bare wires.

You can stereo pair two Move 2s when using WiFi.

didn’t know that, so good to know. That’d be my backup option then in case the Fives don’t fit well. Thanks.
