Today, my Sonos iOS app stopped working. I can no longer manage what speakers to use for playback as it is requesting an update and I can not skip this in the app.Frankly, with Sonos history, I fail to see why I should update if things are working for my. My devices are offline (Wifi connected but no access to internet), so no reason at all, not even for security reasons to consider updating a working system. Also I disabled the automatic app update on my iOS device also due to Sonos history of bad company politics, really bad release notes and incapability in the software development space. I just want to use the speakers I paid for.Things have been working ok (just using Airplay) for me. But I needed to give one device an internet connection shortly as it had lost its registration and now I am back in this Sonos update mess.Has anyone found a way how to work around this enforced update? I really do not want to pull up a separate Android device just to roll back to an app version that
I have 7 Sonos speakers (somewhat unfortunately right now) and control them using the Android app. For me, I regularly update and have to power cycle some of my speakers regularly just to make them work. I mostly use a music library that is on a NAS. As much as possible, I have the sonos speakers connected by LAN vs wifi. What is still broken for me:I have an Era 100 and an Amp on smart switches as I need to regularly power cycle them for the sonos app to recognize them. This is needed about 50% off the time. About 25% of the updates, I need to power cycle the speakers for the update to be successful. For my Sonos Move, that is actually 100% of the time I need to do that. Music Library: when I choose to play a genre OR a playlist, it only works 25% of the time. Most times the app just spins. It NEVER works when I try to start it by pressing the randomize option. I always have to start it using the “PLAY” button and then once playing I can randomize the list. It always fails when I try t
Hello. My setup:Philips 65OLED855/12 (4x ARC, 0x eARC). TV Supports Dolby Atmos/Vision by itself.Connected devices:PS5Nintendo SwitchApple TV 4K+Ethernet 128GB (3rd Gen)Sonos Arc Ultra. Will Orei HDA-927 or Feintech VAX01202 work for Apple TV Atmos content? I don’t need Dolby Atmos for gaming. I only want it for movies. For now, I need to use PCM output, otherwise I get lip sync lag. I followed every other adivice (resetting all devices, setting passthrough etc) and I want to buy something that is cheaper than HD Fury.I know that Orei HDA-935 works, but I don’t need 3 outputs I suppose.
sonos app is so bad i have 4k worth of system that doesn’t work. so bad stay away people. Do not buy sonos
Hello everyone. I have a question. I just bought a move 2 as i wanted to replace an old iPod station turned into a bluetooth speaker ( a Geneva). I really like it but the truth is that i dont use portability a lot ( just to take it with me on my deck occasionaly). I was thinking maybe to change it at the store for a pair of era 100 (and a roam for the porshe) but i am wondering if two era 100 which would produce quit a better stéréo sound can also produce at least as much power in term of volume as the move 2 as i think is just enough for my living room in a party situation case. Thanks a lot for your answers
I was hoping after todays firmware update that the S1 app on Android would no longer prompt me or give me the option to turn of said prompt to downgrade to S2 version. Please Sonos, update the app so I can shut this off in settings! Thank you! 😥
I just received an email that Calm integration with Sonos will end. This is a big loss, as my whole family uses this. We will definitely cancel our Calm subscription, but it also is a blow for Sonos. Very unfortunate that this happened after being on Sonos for many years.
Anybody seen this?Wouldn't be so bad, if not April 1st…Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.(link to @controlav’s Phonos app Facebook page removed)
Wandering about the place connecting speakers as I did some chores in different rooms to listen to my playlist. Go to Sonos app to disengage the zones and…WTF! I mean WTFF!App now useless as it insists i perform an update I do not want to. My system works just fine as it is. After reading various problems I have neither the time and most definitely not the inclination to become an updated “network expert” to sort out problems I never asked for. Sonos you have to bricked my heavy investment in your product.Fortunately I also use SonoPad - for controlling the TV volume - which allowed me to separate my speakers. Why MUST I update my Sonos system to continue to use it?
I was despairing getting clear voice on a pair of Sonos 1s at low volume until I found if you face them backwards with the rear towards where you are voices are suddenly clear and prominent! Give it a go as I was about to give up and try another make.
Why I am not able to add era 100. I am on repeat update app
My previous post “Play & shuffle from folder view of local library still missing from Oct 28 app update” has been closed to further comments, so I’m continuing here.As the topic says, the ability to play or shuffle from the folder view of the local music library is still missing from today’s iOS version, 80.16.32, with firmware 83.1-61210.
I have had enough with three out of four Sonos Connects that stopped working. Time to Wiim. Sonos is garbage!!!!
How have you still not read the room? Your app doesn’t work. You mistake social media for real life. You could at least make your crapppp work. Capeesh?Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.
Why is this thing so bad. It lags, the UI is terrible and the features are crap. It reminds me of an old version of iTunes. Sonos you really need to take note from the likes of Spotify and Google, their apps are amazing.
Hey!I have found a solution to the problem where my Iphone does not find the sonos system from time to time. And sometimes not at all. The problem was that sonos have godt an IP adress like 192.168.68.55 , but the network my phone was getting from the mesh network was 232.168.xx.xxThis means that they wil not connect together. The soultion was to turn of the 5G and airdrop, set wifi of and on again and then chek that the phone connects to 192.168. ***. ** Then i got in to the Deco app ( wifi app). And got to the advance menu. Here you want to set a permanent IP adress to your phone or device. I found the IP adress that is on the same network as sonos (but ofcourse the last digits is diffrent) and set this up as the IP adress that i want the network to give to my phobe each time it conects to the network. After this it has been working just fine, no more problem. ALSO! You must make sure there is no spesial symbols or “Æ, Ø, Å” in the networks name. Change this and resett wifi for
I’m playing music from a personal library on a NAS, with the music managed by the Apple Music app on an iMac.Everything set up according to instructions etc - and everything works, plays etc. So far, so good. Metadata is correctly registered. But - the play screen on the app does not show album correctly. It shows some iTunes Library XML gibberish. On the MacOS app, album is shown correctly (image following in a post below)Is there something to do to correct this? Or is it yet another thing that hasn’t quite caught up btewwen the old and the new app?PS: Could we get correct sorting of names with starting with “The” and “A” - dropping these from the sort order as it should be?Screenshot showing correct album information from the MacOS app.Moderator edit: Combined posts
We have a Sonos system with some older devices (only play on Sonos 1 app) and a newer device (uses the new Sonos app). We used to have 2 different network routers in our house, and the 2 systems worked on different networks. now we have changed to a single network, and can’t figure out how to use the different apps to get all our devices to work. My spouse’s iPhone can’t find the older Sonos system on his app. any suggestions would be appreciated before my husband throws them all out the window.
Hi, I have just got my 2nd Gen Sky Glass TV and I’m trying to get my Playbar to work. The tv comes with an audio optical socket so I’ve connect the bar to the tv. I need to know the correct way to get it working / connected to the tvthanksheath
While playing music there is no issues at all, while watching my TV the sound fades in and out. I’ve checked all my wires and even changed some wires and even change TV’s. any ideas
When talking with Sonos support they want me to send in a diagnostic, BUT the diagnostic won’t provide the information they need. Support informs me “everything is fine” because I assume the app sees the devices and thinks “all is good”. However, my use case is outside of the app (seriously who uses the Sonos app for anything other than setup?). We play music and then the speaker drops, sometimes we connect and the it says it’s playing music but there is no audio. iOSOne SL Everything is up to date. How can I get sonos to understand that their app won’t give them enough information and that I am enraged by their equipment everyday? All I know is I am never recommending sonos to a friend or even my future self.
Not sure if this has been asked before but I’m curious if I can use USB A out from a Wiim Amp to the USB C in to the Sonos Era 100s? I’d have an SVS subwoofer also hooked up to the Wiim Amp which would act as the overall brain. Inputs into the amp would be bluetooth from a peloton bike and HDMI arc from a TV. Wiim confirms USB A is an output from their amp.The scenario I’m trying to justify is keeping the Sonos Eras while using an external subwoofer since I’m unable to use them without grouping with the Sonos Amp. Anyone tried this? If so, any audio lag between the Wiim and Eras using the usb output from the Wiim and input to the Eras?
Volume shuts off after playing for a few minutes. I have one pair of outdoor Sonos speaker powered off one amp.
Why can’t I arrange my song lists as I want???
I used to shut it off by removing the music from all the different speaker groups… it would acknowledge it would shut down … not anymore… how do you turn it off?
