Hey!

I have found a solution to the problem where my Iphone does not find the sonos system from time to time. And sometimes not at all.

The problem was that sonos have godt an IP adress like 192.168.68.55  , but the network my phone was getting from the mesh network was 232.168.xx.xx

This means that they wil not connect together.

The soultion was to turn of the 5G and airdrop, set wifi of and on again and then chek that the phone connects to 192.168. ***. ** Then i got in to the Deco app ( wifi app). And got to the advance menu.
Here you want to set a permanent IP adress to your phone or device. I found the IP adress that is  on the same network as sonos (but ofcourse the last digits is diffrent) and set this up as the IP adress that i want the network to give to my phobe each time it conects to the network.

After this it has been working just fine, no more problem.

ALSO!
You must make sure there is no spesial symbols or “Æ, Ø, Å” in the networks name. Change this and resett wifi for sonos and your phone if the case!

Moderator edit: Partially concealed what looks like a public IP address.

What you described sounds like you have two devices doing router duties on your network…. The classic reason for connection issues.

The 233.x.x.x seems more like a public IP than a private IP.

Is your IP device in bridge/passthrough mode?

Hmm, dont realy know. It is my only private ruter in the house. And the iPhones is just as normal.

As I didnt find a case like mine on the support Chanel I just wanted to share my solution 😄

What you are describing sounds like the feature ‘Wi-Fi Assist’ in iOS,  your iPhone prefers your mobile data 5G connection over WiFi.

The iPhone is connecting to 5G mobile data when you really want it to connect to the weaker WiFi network that the Sonos system is connected to.

Turn *OFF* the WiFi Assist feature:

Could be, but its wery strange. I have fiber cabel with over 700 mbs up and down and three mesh ruters who all have direct cable. So the Internett is faster than what most people got 🤷‍♂️

It was a problem when i disconneted the 5g on the phone to. But have not tried to turn off any wifi assist

The speed of your internet is irrelevant here. Finding a solution to why your phone chooses a 232.x.x.x IP is what we are trying to understand.

Can you describe your network? Do you have a combination modem/router device from your ISP that the mesh router is connected to?

Do you have a VPN running on your phone or your network? If so, turn it off when using the Sonos app.

I’m sorry, I dont really know a lot about this. But it works fine now. I just wanted to share my problem and solution with the community. :D

No, VPN and not sure about the rest. The fiber goes in to a box then new box, then in an switch and then to the deco mesh network.

It would be nice to know why the phone goes to 232.x.x.x sometimes and sometimes the 192.x.x.x but I am not really good with internett and stuff. I found the problem with help from sonons, but they could not help me fix it. After some googling i got the router to give my phone a set IP adress that now works.

Thank you :D
