Controllers and Music services

I have an old set of Play:1’s in my living room that sound great but I am frustrated at the lack of AirPlay.  In my media room I have a Sonos Beam (1st Gen) and two Sonos Ones. AirPlay accesses that room just fine. It just occurred to me: if I swap the two speaker pairs and have the Play:1s paired with the Beam in my media room, would Airplay then work with all three speakers? Thanks so much.  

Our Sonos app takes about 20 seconds (!) to connect to our system. Simply trying to turn down the volume takes almost half a minute. Once connected it’s a little faster, but still takes several seconds to do anything, and by the time it catches up, you have already tried several controls, which means the whole thing just goes nuts.This has been the case for nearly a year. I’ve tried everything - rebooting/reinstalling everything, changing wifi channels, IP conflicts, removing all sources of interference, moving components closer to the router, one component at a time, alternative control apps. Nothing helps. I understand networking - it’s not my network.If this continues into 2025, I need to start looking into ditching Sonos. I really don’t want to do this, but this lack of control has seriously degraded the main benefit of Sonos. I followed the instructions for the 913 error and share my music folder in my OneDrive. I added it to my Music Library and I updated the music library. My Playlists are showing and playing. When I go to Music Library, there is nothing - nothing showing under artists, nothing showing under albums. This is so damn frustrating.

The app is not improving. I may retire my speakers. Anyone else?  It's unfortunate.

It’s Saturday morning.It’s raining in the UK 🤣So I sit down to listen to some music.At least I would if the App actually worked and my Sonos system did not keep stuttering and stopping.When Van Morrison sung “Mama told me there’d be days like this” I did not expect it to mean that my historically reliable Sonos system would refuse to play music on a wet Saturday morning in the UK.And that is why I hate the new App.

After receiving contact from some boss at Sonos about fixing all the new app problems- I am not surprised to find that nothing has changed. Random connecting- so slow when choosing radio station- locking- freezing- not recognising products- volume not working - just about all the things that were wrong ARE STILL HERE! When you see posh houses advertised in The Times with the added bonus of Sonos networked sound you thing poor sods- it must take £5K off the house!!!!

I think I’m getting close to finally connecting my main Sonos Music Library that resides on a 1TB Crucial X8 drive. After updating the speaker firmware and the Sonos S2 controller on our iMac (Sonoma OS), I was able to play music from the iMac controller but, when adding that library to the iOS app, I continually got the “Access Denied - Check User Name and Password.”With that being said, I’m assuming that I use the network path for that iMac and music folder, the user name for that iMac and, the password used to start up and access that iMac… correct? I’ve triple-checked those credentials and they seem correct. Unlike the links on a Sonos video link, I’m typing the network path thusly:  //Carols-iMac/Sonos Family Room   I’ve also seen “ \\ “ .  (As a point of clarification, Sonophone has no issue with this network path and I’m able to play my music via this method. I have just about had it with Sonos. In a world of smart people who do this for a living, how are they not able to fix the issues? My system is older (Playbar, Play 1) but that shouldn't matter as long as they are supporting them. Maybe someone here can help me. I start playing music using the Sonos app. I select my room(s) and off it goes. However, after a short time, if I go back into the app, it shows my queue is empty. I can't do anything with what is playing. Even worse, I couldn't answer a call because I had my music louder and I couldn't use the app to pause it. I know I can use the button on the decice but that isn't always the option if I'm in another room. The same thing happens using Spotify or Apple. I don't get it. Figure this out already. I've been a customer a long time but I am at my end point. Makes me not want to upgrade my stuff at all.

Since the May app upgrade I have almost abandoned my Sonos system . Th Sonos 1 app only sees 1 of my 5 units.  I have Sonos 2 app installed on another computer in my upstairs office and that sees 2 other units, but not the one seen by the Sonos1 app. I contacted support and then spent a long time rushing up and down stairs turning things off and on, all to no avail. Is there now a fix or is all this kit destined for the skip?I have 2 x Play 1’s as a pair in one room, 2 other Play 1’s in 2 different rooms and 1 Play 3 in another room.

Hi All, My Sonos system (Arc, Sub, 2x300’s) works perfectly. No issues there. I can log in to the app, again, no problem. However...I also have a pair of Ace headphones and while they are connected to the App, I cannot enable the handover feature from the Arc because it ask me to log in again (I am logged in!) and this is just a repeating cycle that never gets to the next step. So...given the issues a lot of folks have had, I am loathe to delete the App and try to start over to fix this. Is there a fix where I do not have to reset/delete?  Cheers! 

I am just about ready to give up on Sonos! I have configured a whole house system if you will with Sonos speakers in almost every room of the house including the downstairs but I never know if they are all going to work or just some of them and occasionally none of them. Not a complicated or fancy setup but ever since changing to the new app several months ago, the problems began. The latest issue is that the only service that will come on and stay on is the Sonos Music service. Amazon Prime, Apple Music, Pandora and Sirius XM all have the intermittent service problem and I want to have other services available consistently! I do call Sonos support and spend a couple of hours troubleshooting, get it working for a few days and then, back to problems! Maybe this is just a rant but surely Sonos can do better! I have been using it successfully since 2015 until the last few months with very little problem so I know Sonos can do it. 

I have a controller on my iMac from the original Sonos 1 System. Does that system still work? I ask because it seems to be blocked and when I try to connect to my existing system (with 5 speakers) it can’t find them.PS. the controller on my iPhone continues to work fine.  So - should the controller on my iMac continue to work?  

I have been a KPIG listener for 15-20 years. Many know that KPIG was one of the very first streaming radio stations out of Santa Cruz.I have been a Sonos owner for 10 years. KPIG has always been wonderful. However, listening to KPIG is a challenge with the new updated Sonos App, combined with TuneIn radio requiring a subscription fee to listen to KPIG has made it difficult to listen to KPIG via Sonos. As it is at this moment, I have: Sonos on my MacBook with Sonos player v 16.4.2 And have the updated TuneIn Player on my MacBook. YES I can play KPIG from my computer. However I cannot initiate KPIG from my iPhone Sonos App. This is the Black Sonos App. It shows up in my favorites on my iPhone but I have to initiate it from the MacBook. I cannot

I do realise that there is a chapter listing on the new Sonos app for my Audible books. However currently they seem to be non-functioning as when you tap the play button next to each chapter, the speaker just simply plays the audiobook where it left off or just keeps randomly changing from chapter to chapter without any real playback on the speaker.  It would be great to get the chapter list playback up so that one doesn’t have to click the next button like 25 times just to get to chapter 26 from say chapter 1. 

How do I connect to Spotify 

The latest “update” (or one of the many in the past three months my system has been idle out of utter frustration) doesn’t work.  It recognizes Apple Music, allows me to scroll to and select the desired album, and when I select play, I get a spinning wheel of death.  Then it wants me to connect to  a Play 1….which I don’t and have never had.  Where is that class action lawsuit? 

Hello everyone !I apologize in advance for the translation which may be approximate.I purchased a Sony PS LX310 BT vinyl turntable, which I want to connect to my Sonos environment without connecting Bluetooth. I voluntarily bought a Sonos Era 100 in order to bridge the gap between the turntable and my Sonos environment (1 Playbase, 2 Sonos One in addition).I read on the Sonos site that a simple RCA female output (red and white tips) and a 3.5mm USB-C jack adapter are enough to detect the turntable on my Sonos Era 100. So I bought them. However, it is impossible for me to play my vinyl records because the local source (Line-in) is not detected on my Sonos application. I find myself very annoyed, I don't want to pay for an Amp. Have you ever had this problem or do you know how to resolve this problem?Thank you for your attention to my request.

Upgraded to the latest version. Figured it couldn’t get any worse. I was wrong. Anyone else having issues with Deezer?I can navigate Deezer see my playlists, favourites etc. that’s all goodi can also see recent music played and searched for prior to the update and play that no problemwhat I can’t do is search Deezer. When I try and search for music I get results from other services but Deezer has a red exclamation mark next to it. When I click on this I get the message “An error occurred with Deezer. Try again later”I know it’s not my credentials or anything like that as I can still browse and play things from Deezer as explained above. The issue only occurs when I try and search new musicI’ve reauthorized the account but that made no difference. So if I want to listen to music now I need to use the Deezer app. Favourite the song or add music to a playlist just so I can then find it on the Sonos app. 

I don’t get the same results in the Sonos app when searching Storytel compared to the same search in the native Storytel app. I have also seen similar results with Spotify. Something can be found in the native music service app, but not when searching for the same thing through the Sonos app.E.g. I searched for an author in the Storytel app. I got 59 results. Searching for the same author in the Sonos app just gave me 38 results.I can of course “cast” from the native app to my Sonos system and start playing it that way. But the queue functionality is very limited when doing it this way and it is not possible to queue multiple things in this manner.

Hi,Does anyone know the latest version of the Mac/OS S1 Controller.  I am currently running 11.14 Build 572150280 and am being encouraged to update to a download version called Sonos_57.22-59130.dmg.I can find no release notes nor any info on this update on the Sonos website or the App Store.  I have been running S1 for some time, having managed to downgrade from S2 a while back.  The system has been running fine since that time and has never been updated, but is is recently prone to dropouts of several seconds duration every 15 minutes or so.  Reset of my entire Sonos setup and Wifi mesh system has not improved the situation.Grateful for any info on the latest S1 update.  Wild horses couldn’t drag me back to S2!Thanks in advance.

I create playlists separately and dump them all in a folder that is indexed by the Sonos music indexer. These are simple .m3u files in their own directory with a full pathname. Some of the playlists load and play fine. For others, the player spins a bit before it gives up with “Unable to browse music.” It is therefore not a problem with how the playlists are formatted. I know for a fact that songs in the “unable to browse” playlists are in fact correctly indexed in Sonos; I can play them if I navigate to the relevant folder, and can find them by artist. It is therefore not a problem with access to the files. So why are some playlists ok and others not?Environment: Desktop - macOS Monterey; App - Sonos Controller vers. 16.4.2 (up to date, as per check for updates); build 81158074.NB - There is a thread that addresses “Unable to browse music” but it’s several months old and it seems to be resolved. 

I keep getting conflicting messages and stories with the following issue. On my music share some albums (they are compilation or what the system defines as that) show up in strange ways :For example:Album x with tracks 1-10 will show up 10 times with one track in each album.  Or it will show up 10 times with more than one track in random order. Or it will show up blankAnother thing that is not mentioned by Sonos is whether they will put back alphabetical indexation. With 2000 albums, it’s virtually impossible to browse otherwise.Non of these issues are mentioned on any of the information that Sonos give out about updates, present and forthcoming. Sonos support up top tier 2 sometimes say it is an issue sometimes not. So I would like to know if this is being looked into and something might be done. I use the system to play my music and with these problems it is virtually unusable.
