I just downloaded the desktop controller for Mac, updated the software, and connected with my speaker. But everything under the Manage menu is greyed out, so the only thing I can listen to is preset radio stations. Why is everything greyed out, and how can I access those fields, specifically Music Library Settings?
Hi, I am in the midst of building out a Home theatre setup and like many would like to reduce the number of wires in my living room. I currently have a PRIMARE SPA 22 A/V receiver (http://www.primare.net/assets/_managed/cms/files/SPA22usermanual.pdf) and also a pair of JM Lab Focal front speakers both of which produce exceptional sound. I would like to know whether it is possible to use my existing 2 channel setup with the PRIMARE SPA 22 A/V receiver but introduce a centre channel and 2 rear surround channels all connected to the A/V receiver so that I can have the A/V receiver pushing the sound from a BluRay movie/player to the the Sonos components and the 2 Focal speakers. Thanks, M

Hi I have just purchased my first Sonos speakers - Play 1 and I have 3 of these in different zones/rooms. Currently the speakers are not grouped and I was wondering is there a option to group these speakers when creating the alarm? E.g. I create a new alarm, for this alarm I want the speakers to be grouped. The then alarm plays on ALL speakers or set of speakers that I choose and once the alarm has finished the speakers go back to its original setup - no grouped? If this is not possible how do we go about suggesting this as a feature request as this is feature which I'm sure would be useful. Thanks Sho
Ever since Sonos dropped the dedicated remote control in favour of the Smartphone app, I feel the solution isn't as good as it once was. I notice in recent weeks, new remotes such as sevenhugs hitting the market. These I feel are a little but if a gimmick in terms of costs and some requiring yet another hub connected to the network. The application I'd like to see is basic Sonos commands such as volume or play favourite supported on the Philips Hue remote which already control my lighting. I see Lutron Caseta supports Sonos integration. This is the type of functionally I'm after. A simple and cheap remote which on entering a room can switch on the lights and have basic Sonos controls. We are after all in the age of IoT but I see Sonos making little progress on this area.
Many topics about compilation albums are present, but I think this problem has not been addressed in this way (it is in the forums though, in 2009 already for that matter: http://forums.sonos.com/showthread.php?t=13742). When browsing the contents of a compilation album, only the track titles are shown. For compilation albums, the individual track artists should show as well. When you have many compilation album, those track titles names get pretty useless on their own. You need to see the respective artists along them. In the forums someone suggests to stick the artist in the title tag. Abusing the title tag by inserting the artist there along with the title is not an option. Other devices and programs use this tag too, I will not spoil it. The information is right in the (contributing) artist tag, just show it. There's plenty of room on all modern smartphones and tablets, let's use it.
Hi, my CR200 rechargeable battery is running out of Life. Funny side-effects such as it starts the player randomly at night when almost powerless. Can i buy areplacement and is it possible to change for a non-technician like me ?
I have 2x Play:5 and 1x Play:3, always in a group. Using the alarm clock I only want the player in my bedroom to start playing music while the others stay muted. Sonos currently offers to either 1) play on one device which will un-group the player from the others or 2) playing on all group (un-mute all). I'd like to see an option to use the alarm clock on one player but keep the group sticky! Thus, I could simply un-mute the player in the kitchen once I got up without having to re-group the players. Additionally, with the current implementation the following is a little annoying. When using the alarm clock (with option 1) not including the group) and then starting the iOS app the focus is on my other two players (new group) rather than the one which plays music. So first I have to switch player to be able to pause the music. Thanks for considering such ideas!
Would be happy to see an option to define group/zone presets. From the worklow sometimes it may be more intuitive to choose a radio station or a playlist and instead of "play now" in the preselected zone choose the zone where it schould be played. This would automatically redefine the group if it was changed the day before. It also can be used for the alarm to be played in the prdefined group zone without the need to group the rooms in the evening ...

Has anyone else experienced poor Pandora functionality with their Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS (car head deck) when using the Pandora app on their iPhone via bluetooth? For several months, I was getting intermittent connectivity and disconnects in the car when attempting to listen to Pandora using the Pandora function on the Pioneer head unit. I called Pioneer several times and each time they insisted that there is no known issue with the head deck interfacing with iPhones. I didn't believe them until one day it hit me - the Pioneer basically comandeers the iPhone's Pandora app and acts as an intermediary (to allow thumbs up/ thumbs down via the touch screen on the radio), but the Pandora function still resides on the phone. Sonos is the only other software on my phone that has anything to do with Pandora. So, I removed the Sonos controller app from my phone. Problem fixed! I then reinstalled the Sonos app to my phone and the problem returns. Has anyone experienced this? And more import
The lowest volume is to high sometimes. How do I get the volume lower?
Hi Sonos team, I own a PLAY:3 speaker and have had trouble with updating the software therefore not allowing me to use my device. I have attempted to re-pair it and update it over both wireless and wired connections with the Error Code 1101 popping up each time I try. If you could help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jack
According to the FAQ at https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1589/related/1, it sounds like you can set up your wireless devices (laptop, tablet, etc.) to use SonosNet as a wireless mesh for the home. Is that correct? I thought SonosNet was proprietary and could only be used by Sonos components. Allowing SonosNet to be used by non-Sonos devices is a VERY value-added feature. This means that having a Play:1 in your distant room, for example, would give Wifi access to the network/internet to mobile devices in that room (via SonosNet). I see a VERY good benefit for having additional Sonos components (including Sonos Bridge) in that regard. Saves you from buying Wifi Repeaters to extend the wireless range for tablets & computers in your house. Did I read the FAQ correctly? I hope so 🙂
Hi All, I am new to Sonos, yesterday I set it up for the first time and was prompted to configure a remote, which I did. As I was new to the system I configured the remote, volume up, volume down etc... was not the correct thing to do but it worked. I wanted to change the remote and the controls, so I reprogrammed the remote and selected "Replace Current Control" which allowed me to reconfigure the remote. i.e. press up button, then up 3 times. Then press down button and down button 3 times and finally the mute button. That's when i realised I didn't program the mute button correctly. Now when I tried to "Replace Current Control" again, at the first press of the up button, the software states that it's finished the configuration of the remote and ends. I have reset the system (holding play/pause on power up) and run through the setup wizard, but when go to add the remote, the first press of the up button, the software states that it's finished the configuration of the remote.

How long should 'Adding share information to a Sonos system' take? Only mines taking over 30mins so far...
My grandfather always used to play an old a.m. radio fairly loud near the doors / windows at his house whenever he left the house as a security deterrent for bad guys...make them think twice before breaking into his house. It would be really nice to switch on a "Home Security / Vacation mode" that would play selected music/radio stations at different random times...or perhaps have a calendar schedule very similar to a programmable thermostat schedule. All customizable from your Sonos controller / iphones /android device.
We have a Sonos 1 speaker. Sadly one of the main things I need my audio system to do is play radio four. We do listen to music but I am an artist and work from home and use "listen again" every day. This is so disappointing for me. And I think possibly for other people - Lots of my friends use the iPlayer to re-listen to the BBC programmes. You can download a number of programmes to MP3 but to be honest most of the ones I listen to must be subject to copyright and cannot be downloaded - just streamed for up to 4 weeks after the program (the Book of the Week, 15 minute Drama, etc). I feel this is a real omission by Sonos as the BBC iPlayer is such a fantastic resource for everyone. I do not want to have multiple speakers around the house, and it seems that Bluetooth can do pretty much everything I wanted to. So at this point it seems the sonos system has limited use and will be returned.
A computer that is running the SONOS controller app is connected to a VPN. Am I correct in assuming that the SONOS speakers will NOT stream music over the VPN just because the controller is connected to the VPN, even if they are all connected to the same router?
I've just started using Sonos and have connected it to Apple Music where I have several "Smart Playlists". These does however not appear in any of the Sonos applications/apps. Why not and when will it be fixed ?
I can't select anything from the Manage tab drop down menu on my Mac desktop controller ?
Hi - I was reading about Sonos in another context and I was given the impression that software 7.0 is removing UPnP support? (in other words, you can't use UPnP anymore to control a Sonos system). Is this correct? Thank you
I have a set up in my house with 10 Sonos speakers. I tend to group them in the various rooms..... Kitchen (3 Speakers) Living Room (4 Speakers) Kids Bedrooms (3 Speakers) Master Bedroom/Bathroom (4 Speakers via Connect & Connect Amp) I change the Groups depending on the set up the house at any time. Watching movies etc...... Is there any way to get the system to remember 'Groups' so i can just click on a PreSet say 'Movies' and it will link the appropriate speakers together. I know you can create stereo pairs but i want to create 'super groups'. Many thanks
