According to the FAQ at https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1589/related/1, it sounds like you can set up your wireless devices (laptop, tablet, etc.) to use SonosNet as a wireless mesh for the home. Is that correct? I thought SonosNet was proprietary and could only be used by Sonos components. Allowing SonosNet to be used by non-Sonos devices is a VERY value-added feature. This means that having a Play:1 in your distant room, for example, would give Wifi access to the network/internet to mobile devices in that room (via SonosNet). I see a VERY good benefit for having additional Sonos components (including Sonos Bridge) in that regard. Saves you from buying Wifi Repeaters to extend the wireless range for tablets & computers in your house. Did I read the FAQ correctly? I hope so 🙂
Hi All, I am new to Sonos, yesterday I set it up for the first time and was prompted to configure a remote, which I did. As I was new to the system I configured the remote, volume up, volume down etc... was not the correct thing to do but it worked. I wanted to change the remote and the controls, so I reprogrammed the remote and selected "Replace Current Control" which allowed me to reconfigure the remote. i.e. press up button, then up 3 times. Then press down button and down button 3 times and finally the mute button. That's when i realised I didn't program the mute button correctly. Now when I tried to "Replace Current Control" again, at the first press of the up button, the software states that it's finished the configuration of the remote and ends. I have reset the system (holding play/pause on power up) and run through the setup wizard, but when go to add the remote, the first press of the up button, the software states that it's finished the configuration of the remote.

How long should 'Adding share information to a Sonos system' take? Only mines taking over 30mins so far...
My grandfather always used to play an old a.m. radio fairly loud near the doors / windows at his house whenever he left the house as a security deterrent for bad guys...make them think twice before breaking into his house. It would be really nice to switch on a "Home Security / Vacation mode" that would play selected music/radio stations at different random times...or perhaps have a calendar schedule very similar to a programmable thermostat schedule. All customizable from your Sonos controller / iphones /android device.
We have a Sonos 1 speaker. Sadly one of the main things I need my audio system to do is play radio four. We do listen to music but I am an artist and work from home and use "listen again" every day. This is so disappointing for me. And I think possibly for other people - Lots of my friends use the iPlayer to re-listen to the BBC programmes. You can download a number of programmes to MP3 but to be honest most of the ones I listen to must be subject to copyright and cannot be downloaded - just streamed for up to 4 weeks after the program (the Book of the Week, 15 minute Drama, etc). I feel this is a real omission by Sonos as the BBC iPlayer is such a fantastic resource for everyone. I do not want to have multiple speakers around the house, and it seems that Bluetooth can do pretty much everything I wanted to. So at this point it seems the sonos system has limited use and will be returned.
A computer that is running the SONOS controller app is connected to a VPN. Am I correct in assuming that the SONOS speakers will NOT stream music over the VPN just because the controller is connected to the VPN, even if they are all connected to the same router?
I've just started using Sonos and have connected it to Apple Music where I have several "Smart Playlists". These does however not appear in any of the Sonos applications/apps. Why not and when will it be fixed ?
I can't select anything from the Manage tab drop down menu on my Mac desktop controller ?
Hi - I was reading about Sonos in another context and I was given the impression that software 7.0 is removing UPnP support? (in other words, you can't use UPnP anymore to control a Sonos system). Is this correct? Thank you
I have a set up in my house with 10 Sonos speakers. I tend to group them in the various rooms..... Kitchen (3 Speakers) Living Room (4 Speakers) Kids Bedrooms (3 Speakers) Master Bedroom/Bathroom (4 Speakers via Connect & Connect Amp) I change the Groups depending on the set up the house at any time. Watching movies etc...... Is there any way to get the system to remember 'Groups' so i can just click on a PreSet say 'Movies' and it will link the appropriate speakers together. I know you can create stereo pairs but i want to create 'super groups'. Many thanks
The manage music library button is greyed out and can not be used. We have used it several times before.
Cannot add my wife's spotify account. When adding music service I get the option 'add to sonos', not add account. Now what? This is not mentioned in the guide.
Newbie. New playbar set up on my iPad. What is the best way to add another user with their own iPad. New Sonos account or share account?
I HATE the new iPad and iPhone controllers, and I am mad as hell that you would force this piece of crap on a long-time and frequent user like myself. Is there any way to revert to the previous controller version? Where is the Queue on the iPhone version??? I use the queue all the time.
Not to confuse with the ongoing alarm related issue. If I'm away from home and have an alarm set to play music from a playlist, does the music stop after some time or only when the entire playlist is played?
Firstly - Awesome products (hardware and software) world leading and world beating, there is no other option for ease of use, reliability, flexibility and sound quality in my opinion. Main point - I'm sure the development team are in deep at the moment with Apple and I'm aware that an integrated solution will be available in Q4-2015. My idea or question is can it be integrated directly to AppleMusic App (Music on iPhone, iPad) so you don't need to launch the Sonos App. Why do I ask? Well I fear that the personalisation and sheer richness of the AppleMusic service will be lost if it is integrated in a similar way to spotify on the Sonos App (menu driven etc.) Also if I'm moving between car or walk into house the ability to seamlessly stream music to sonos to continue my listening experience would be, well 'magic'. So if anyone has any influence over the development cycle and roadmap and this could be flagged as a potential it would be much appreciated.
I set an alarm up for my sonos play 3 in my room. Which has worked fine a couple of times letting me pause it but today every time i hit pause it just restarts the playlist I chose as the alarm music. Now I cant use that speaker amd have just turned the volume right down. Help
My understanding is this was initially released only for apple products, because of the variety and varying quality of microphones used by android phone manufactures. Surely the simple solution to this problem is to use an external microphone, that plugs into the headphone or micro USB port. SONOS could either create one, and make money by selling it. Or team up with third parties currently producing these microphones, and get licensing money from certified Trueplay compatible microphones.
Would be nice to set up a couple of default groups and just be able to select those instead of alway having to go individually and select. I have 9 rooms on Sonos. Usually have a group of 3 together and a group of 2 together.
Using the Sonos app with Google Play Music how does one add a song to a Google Play Music playlist? I only see the option to add the song to a Sonos playlist. This presents an issue since I also listen to music through wireless Jaybird earphones when out and about or at the gym. In this case I use the Google Play Music app and would like the songs I added while listening at home to appear on the playlists there as well. Maybe I'm just missing something which is definitely possible. Thanks!
After what must be close to 2 years I have finally solved drop outs on my Sonos system! I have quite a 'rambling' property and my system originally consisted of 3 bridges, a soundbar, a sub, 2 x play 1s and a play 5. I recently replaced one of the bridges with a boost in the hope that this would solve my drop out problems on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon music - my music library on my iMac was slightly more reliable but nowhere near even 70% reliability. Curiously my play bar and sub and play 1s worked perfectly with my tv and sky. However, my typical music listening experience would be Spotify or Apple or Amazon music services playing for a few seconds then cutting out, restarting, then stuttering and finally cutting out altogether. I had spoken to two or three Helpdesk folks over the past 1-2 years and never got the problem fully solved. And I'd tried many other fixes in the meantime. Most recently I was promised a call back - which never came - so I decided to try to fix the p
Hello, i have configured today my sonos speakers, all is working really good, the only think i cant configure is to add spotify to the sonos app. hope you can help me
hi like the title says. anyway to make it work? ive tried to restart my PC but its still not working. thanks.
We use Sonos in my cafe. Tonight, it seems someone who used to work there and has access to the system decided it would be awesome to mess around with us and change the music and turn the volume up. Is there a way to reset the system to clear all the passed employees off the access list?
