Amazon Fire TV has 4 settings for audio and I'm wondering which would be the best to choose. My audio is HDMI through a Vizio M65-D0 monitor which supports Dolby Digital Plus. The four options are: Dolby Digital Plus Automatic (If your HDMI device does not support Dolby Digital, you will receive stereo.) Dolby Digital Plus OFF (HDMI will provide stereo only) Dolby Digital Plus over HDMI (If your HDMI device does not support Dolby Digital Plus, you will not hear sound.) Dolby Digital over HDMI (If your HDMI device does not support Dolby Digital, you will not hear sound.) (Is it true that Sonos does not support Dolby Digital Plus?
Looks like it might be, assuming it hasn't been crippled. Hope it supports pinning an app. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/amazon-rolls-49-99-mass-130335246.html
I have a Roku Streaming stick and I think it would be great to be able to control your music from your TV!!!
I would like to request a sort feature on the songs in a playlist. Especially for my favorite songs in my Deezer favorite list I would like to be able to change the sort order so that I get the most recent additions on the top (date added descending). This would also be my preferred default setting as opposed to the current date added ascending. As in order to play the song I last added to the playlist, it now forces me to scroll all the way down to the list. Typically, I am most interested to listen to the songs I most recently added. Thank you very much in advance for your consideration! Martijn
Hi guys the following could sound a silly question but I want to know if someone sees a use case for the old Sonos remote control in these days knowing that today everything is controlled from the Sonos smartphone/desktop apps. The reason I'm asking is that some one is selling one in my country (we're is not easy to find Sonos products) and since I'm a Sonos crazy I was wondering if I could use it somehow in my current configuration that is made of a playbar, two Play 1s, two Play 3s a Sonos Connect, a Play 5 (2nd) and a Sub.:S., also I'm not sure it is still supported by the newer speakers. thanks for your thoughts.
We love to watch and listen concerts on TV. Sonos automaticly switches to surround sound when receiving a tv signal. We therefore like to have the option to change to music mode when the Sonos receives a TV signal. We are wundering whether there are more Sonos users who want this feature? Please react when you want this option too.
Hi Why can't I find a track by an artist that is in a compilation album using the search? Specific example I have the Paloma Faith track I 'Can't Rely on You' with the artist shown as a contributing artist in the ID3 tag on the Now 87 album. ( I am not using iTunes at all!) Indeed when playing the album the artist name appears on all the controllers (CR100, android and PC versions). But when I search the music library for the artist name it only shows a different album of the same artist but not the individual track in the compilation album.
Hi Everyone I'm considering buying a Sonos PLAY:5. Since this speaker is a year or two old , I wanted to know what's the life cycle of a sonos product , when might another play speaker be released?. For how long does the company continue churning out software updates for their products? for example an android phone will only get software updates for a year or two and then nothing. Thanks:)
I think I understand that it is possible to add individual shared folders rather than only a single folder and all of is sub folders. I share the top level iTunes folder because it contains iTunes' library files. (I use sonos in lose conjunction with iTunes, so it is essential that I have access to its playlist file.) The problem, however, is that I do not wish sonos to index all of the subfolders. (For instance, "music" subfolders but not "audiobook" folder. ) So what I'm wondering is: is there some way to index only certain files as well as certain folders? Or some other way to index only certain subfolders of a folder AS WELL AS only certain FILES within it?
is there any way to use the line in feature with the dot so I can still use my speakers for tv? When I connect to the Play5 I can't get tv sound because it bypasses the playbar, making the connected Play5 the default speaker.
When using the Boost to generate the dedicated SONOSNet can you apply standard network security to this network? I am specifically looking for a MAC address based acces control mechanism to ensure only my authorized devices are able to gain access to my home network.
Everytime I start my desktop PC (Win 10) Sonos app I get the message " Please update to the latest Sonos Controller app". I click update and it fails saying "Desktop controller has failed, please close program". The app on my Android device is up to date and works fine. Any suggestions?
Just out of interest, when calibrating with TruePlay the app tells you at the end that the sound will improve over time. What does that mean? Is the app continuing to calibrate in the background? And if so, how does that work with multi room...
I have started getting this message after 2 years of use, nothing on my network has changed. any ideas what could be wrong
Using iPhone app. Version 5.0. I find that the app often changes the zone I'm controlling, usually after I've left the app and come back to it. For example, if I'm controlling the kitchen, the next time I go to use the app, I'll have to switch from my daughters room even though I have not switched there first. If the app can't always remember the last zone controlled, how about letting me choose the default zone?
Hello, Is there a way for the next update to have the -ability to lock a group area in the settings menu. eg. You have a large alfresco area, maybe using 3 x connect amps, and because it's in the same location, you don't want to keep grouping the areas or accidentally ungroup them, in the settings menu you can group them and give them a group name, and when you use the areas, it will have all areas including the new grouped zone/s, but will not have the name of the individual zone it contains, also global audio settings, if you have two connects/amps, and one subwoofer, the normal setting will only allow the eq of the sub and speaker combination for one of the amps, but if you have multiple areas in this grouped zone, a global setting also should be applied (I have a customer that has 4 connect amps, 2 subwoofers-unable to add more subs because of locations.) the problem with current setup is that they will turn the volume up for New Years, two x Amp speakers will only do the p
Hi anybody know if you can import sonos playlist in to iTunes? Listening to lots of music on sonos I am saving off top songs in to a sonos playlist now I want to get that in to iTunes. Is this possible? Otherwise can I listen to sonos through iTunes rather than sonos and then save to an iTunes playlist?
I wonder how to schedule a specific composition or playlist, etc to play at a specified time. For example, I want my music to turn off in my bedroom at night automatically and turn on in the morning as an alarm-clock, but playing a speicific set of compositions. I did not find any scheduling functions in the software nor in the controller. Another question is if it's possible (I believe it's not) to play 360 kbps mp3 files. I hope it will be taken care of in the next release.
After updating the app today, "Room Settings" disappeared from my Settings page. I can no longer adjust anything. Does anyone know what's going on?
Really enjoying my new Sonos system. Have been building a pc based library for jazz & classical items (~2,000 files) over many years. I'm an Ubuntu(Linux type) user. I've streamed all my library items to the Sonos system and have solved the genre issue by setting custom tags in the TCON (id3v2) frame. So far so good, however some files show up in Sonos as just the file name. I suspect that these files do not have GEOB tag values, at least that's the only difference I can see at the moment. Setting a title or genre tag is straight forward but looking at the GEOB tag I feel I'm getting out of my depth! I know that there are loads of posts on the subject of tags with Sonos but haven't seen anything of great relevance to my problem. Any ideas would be welcome.
Hi there, I have been experiencing the issue ever since I opened and am using a Sonos Bridge bought 12-18 months ago. Before I continue, let me say that the reason I am creating a new thread is because a) The proposed solutions in other threads haven't worked and; b) I am living in an apartment for university students that provides their own wireless internet with their own modem and router. Hardware: Play:3 - Two Bridge - One The router in my apartment is on the other side from my Play:3's, which are in my room, approximately 10-15 feet away. When first setting up the system, I was able to quickly and easily find both the Bridge and Play:3's. Sonos asked me to update and when I did I was "unable to update" due to a "problem in checking for updates (1101)." I am given the options Try Again and Not Now. When I choose Try Again Sonos falsely tells me my products are up to date. I have tried unplugging everything, restarting my computer then only plugging in the B
Roon v1.3 is good.. but are Sonos + Roon working together on getting the Roon Advanced Audio Transport enabled for Sonos? Bluesound has it and I want to keep my investment in Sonos..
For what it's worth, I have 6 Sonos zones (2xZP80, 2xZP100, 2xPLAY:3), and 2 Echo's (both of which happen to be right next to my kitchen and MBR Sonos PLAY:3's). I adore both products and have been dreaming of this announcements. I almost held off on purchasing the last 2 PLAY:3's because I was loving Alexa so much, and now I'm glad I didn't. The combination will be great. Now all i want is to be able to be on the private beta 🙂 I've been a Sonos heavy user since 2006, and I've been an Alexa heavy user for a little over a year. They play slightly different roles in my life today... I do find myself asking Alexa to shuffle music, which is annoying, since it doesn't know about my local Sonos library and playlists. I ask Alexa to play the news and podcasts, which is great, but it doesn't play throughout the house - which is annoying. They just should play together. And now they're going to. Peanut butter and jelly. Chocolate and peanut butter. Sonny & Cher. Good stu
How can I change my controller settings after moving my speakers round.?, delete rooms, add playbar to living room from a TV room
Hi, I have Sonos controller app on iPad and iPhone. I have a sonos bridge connected to a home hub 3. I regularly - several times a day - loose connectivity with the sonos app - it just says searching for sonos system. This will happen although the sonos components are happily still playing music. The only way to get connectivity back again seems to be to either reboot the router or switch wifi off and back on again on the ipad/iphone. It's very frustrating. Have there been software updates recently that might have screwed the connectivity up? Up to about a few weeks ago never had this problem Thanks
