I have 3 Era 100 speakers to cover two rooms and they work great with Airplay from my iPhone and laptop. I am trying to add my Onkyo TX-NR6100 receiver to the home wifi network (mesh with eero) and despite much watching videos and reading instructions, I cannot make it work. I’ve added the port to my system and it shows up, but the two things that I do not feel I understand are (1) the cable connections to get the receiver to push sound to the port to push sound to the network; and (2) how to configure the ‘works with sonos’ on my Onkyo (which I probably have to ask elsewhere).I have no hard wired speakers.TIA.
Every so often one of the channels on 2 of my sonos Amp just stops working. It appears to be random. Resetting the units doesn’t seem to fix the issue. the units are stored out of the way of any outside interference and the speaker cables are fitted to ceiling speakers. It is 100% not a cabling issue
So just received an email that new Sonance in-wall speakers are coming soon. When I clicked on it it said 8” were “new”. I thought they always had 8” round speakers. Is this is or is their more? I am looking for a set of rear in ceiling speakers for my Arc/Sub 3 set up (no option to put stands and speakers in the back. Hoping for something that incorporates Atmos into the new speaker set up. What is the news?
Hey there.I’ve got a Sonos setup including an AMP, an ERA 300, a sonos move and a roam.I can easily group and degroup all of those, connect my TV through HDMI to the AMP.I just got a Project turntable that I’m connecting to the Amp with RCA cables. The Amp detects the audio in, but it seems that the sound is really really low, and I can’t get it to be of good sound level.Any idea what might be the issue? Thanks in advance, Best regards,Pierre
HiI have The Sonos AMP + in wall speaker bundle connected to my TV (hdmi arc) as front speakers. Could I add to the config to make it -Sonos AMP + Sub Mini + Era 300 (or Era 100) wireless setup Which Era speakers are compatible with Sonos AMP ? Is the Sub mini compatible with AMP? please advise. thanks,Mangesh
Hi, I have a question.. I turned off the wifi on the sonos app and connected my sonos amp with a network cable... but still on my router the sonos amp shows that it is connected via wifi on 2.4... does anyone else have this problem and how to solve...thanks
I would like some suggestions for a good player. It should be smallish.
I am building a new house and the owner wants all specified speakers changed to sonos speakers, how do i get cost proposal? Send me an email reply so i can send requirements.
Because the turntable is sensible to vibrations while is connected to a Receiver, and I already have a Sonos audio system (Sonos Arc+Subwoofer; Sonos Beam), I bought Sonos port to connect Phono with preamp to Sonos wifi network at home away the big speakers of Denon AV receiver. The Sonos system works Ok, but connecting Port (out) to analog connection “not-phono” of receiver doesn’t sound OK. (For example: Media IN RCA). HOW should config Sonos Port to get out correct IN sound of receiver?
I would like to understand the difference between plugging my Sonos port into the RCA inputs on the Onkyo and playing music and using the “Works with Sonos” setup in the Onkyo menu. The only difference I see when “works with Sonos” is enabled is that it messes around with my ability to control the volume on my Onkyo for ALL inputs. I don’t understand the point and would love to be enlightened!!
Ok apologies if this has been asked before - I did look. i have 6 amps in an upstairs closet all feeding in- ceiling speakers. It’s neater keeping them together but they are not close to the router so none can be wired via Ethernet. over time I’m getting more and more dropouts. I dropped the Boost as the property is small and should be more than covered by WiFi, and it wasn’t helping. All IP addresses are bound on the router and I have tried all available wifi channels. I am theorising that there is a lot of wifi noise in the closet. Would daisy-chaining them with Ethernet, and turning off the wifi on all bar one reduce the noise and improve reliability? In my head this should work but I’m wondering if anyone has tried this? thanksandrew
Hi Everyone,When I add a product and it finds my system (new model amp (low profile black amp)), when I add it to the WiFi it comes back with an error message saying “There was a problem connecting your Sonos Amp to (my network name)”. I have tried connecting the amp to 1) my router, 2) my wifi extender. The sonos item wouldn’t connect to either but just gave me this error message. Any advice on what to do? This issue started when I got a new router. I haven’t been able to connect it. For what it’s worth my router is an Asus.
Hi, I recently moved house and had my Playbar in its box for a couple of months. When I unpacked it and plugged it in, it now emits a high pitch squeal. I have tried a factory reset to no avail. Any advice?
Hello, I’m trying to troubleshoot an issue trying to get new Sub to work with my existing Amp and speakers. It seems that my Amp, which is in my ‘home run’ room is too far from the Sub. If I move the Sub closer, it works. It I move it to where I want it, it doesn’t work. What are the limitations on how close they need to be to each other and how can I do something’s to make this work? I can’t move the Amp any closer at this point.
NAD stereos (vintage as well as new but retro NAD C 3050) among others have Pre-Out and Main-In ports to allow users to get between the pre-amp and amplification functions of a given integrated amp. I believe this would allow Sonos Port to stand in the middle … receiving analog signal from the integrated amplifier via pre-out port (into Sonos Port In) and separately distributing analog signal (from any other Sonos device) via output port to the Main-In on the integrated amplifier. I recognize that this requires the music to go through a A->D encoding and then back D->A with the attendant delays (computational and networking). But, it should also allow any natural function of the pre-amplifier to be passed through without any fiddling of buttons to switch inputs/outputs and it should ensure than music being amplified by that integrated amplifier is time-wise synchronized with all other Sonos devices. Am I right ? The diagram (box and arrow) on the following post to this commu
How do I recognize that the Connect AMP is generation 1, thus compatible only with older App S1, or generation 3, thus compatible with new App, S2?I thought that with the front panel I would be able to distinguish since the front button on Gen 1 is a Mute while on Gen2 is a pause/play button, Is that right? Is there any other difference? Is the model type different?thanks
So we have a number of Sonos boxes; a couple of S2 Connect:Amps and Connects, play:1s and now a Beam & Mini Sub.Everything was pretty stable until the summer, when the amps started glitching. Some days fine, sometimes all over the place. I am not sure what suddenly made these unstable - a random software update on Sonos or the wifi router, or the amps getting too hot in the cupboard they are in. (Could this make this happen?). They sit next to each other on a shelf feeding remote ceiling speakers. The other boxes work fine.I have tried all sorts of things; moving wireless router away, restarting everything, resetting, wriing differently. We have a TP-Link X20 mesh router of 3 boxes (one of which is (was) near the amps. The amps are wired to a Netgear unmanaged switch. The amps are wired to the switch. (I read that mesh networks could impact performance - but it all worked fine for about 2 years.)They do the same thing, whether using Sonosnet, or the wifi network, whether st
(Newbie questions here)I have two televisions and each will have a Premium Arc. I will also have 2 sets of Era 100s in either the same rooms or different rooms. I want to add a set of outdoor speaks for my yard. (None of this is yet set-up)My questions are this:(1) Do I need the amp for the outdoor speakers? (2) If I do need the amp, I presume it has got to be connected via wire to each outdoor speaker, right?(3) Do I need the amp for the Era 100s that are in the home?(4) Using the app, will I be able to control what is playing on each speaker (e.g., have them all in sync, or just have the Era 100s and outdoor speakers in sync, but Premium Arc separate)? Thanks in advance!
I have a Sony STR-AV880 A/V Receiver vintage 1990s or so. It doesn’t have a dedicated pre-amp out for audio but does have RCA out for a 3 channel (Red/White/Yellow) A/V cable. When I connect the Red/White (L/R) line out to line in on PORT, there is no sound. Was on the line with support and after a considerable amount of time working through troubleshooting with me we narrowed it down to issue between SONY OUT and PORT IN. (yes, we tried alternate cables). They suggested contacting Sony, and I’m thinking anyone in Sony’s support department wasn’t even born when this receiver was made let alone still support it. Was ready to give up when I reconnected the PORT to my BOSE Wave Radio. Thought I would try using connectivity in both directions instead of just using the WAVE as a speaker for the PORT. Once hooked up, no sound from WAVE. It worked yesterday just fine. Only difference was that both input and output were now connected between BOSE and PORT. Just for kicks, I unplugged the cable
So recently I’ve noticed my connect amp appears to be dropping out regularly and consistently. Can support tell if the connect amp is faulty or it’s some other issue via diagnostics?
I am still on S1. I am wanting the sonance mag 6.1 garden speaker setup for outdoors. This system comes with the newer sonos amp and can power all 6 speakers and sub. I have an extra older S1 Connect amp and wondering if it can also power all 6 of the garden speakers and amp as well? That way, I could use my extra connect amp and just purchase the garden speakers and sub separately without the newer amp.
I have a Sonos system that I have locked down at version 8.4 because I have several CR100 controllers that were built into the fabric of my home when Sonos was in its infancy and I wanted whole house music from my own music library (a state that continues to this day) and everything still works as intended.I have a few old units that unfortunately were off line when the system was fixed at 8.4 and are hence at slightly different software versions (prior to 8.4) and although they were all working fine with other controller software (which does not care what version the devices are at) one unit has been factory reset and can no longer be added into the existing system.I am thinking of setting up a new S1 system for those items (and only those items - a ZP120 and 2x ZP80) but am reluctant to try just in case it messes up the current working system (in particular, bricking my CR100s). Is it possible to run a new S1 system alongside the existing system without the old system getting update
Having suffered worsening and considerable amount of audio drop-outs from everything on my system: TV, radio, Roam, music library and vinyl over the past several months; I once again contacted customer support. After running diagnostic checks the temporary solution was to disconnect the Sonos Port. This has resulted in all audio playing correctly with only one or two drop-outs in the day or so since the ‘fix’ was applied. The advice was to connect the Port only when we want to play vinyl, but the vinyl drops-out as well.Is there anyway I can re-attach the Port to my system, or have Sonos mis-represented the nature of their product and the Port is incompatible with other Sonos products? My system is:Room 1 Home cinema system consisting of Playbar, two x Play 3 and Sub-mini; Room2: Play1; Room 3: Play 1; Room 4; Port and record deck; Roam
This is an installation and functionality question. I am a builder + tech/audio enthusiast but not a professional in the AV installation field. I have an older house with wood clad walls. I am installing a TV on my wall with a recess so it sits flush to the wall. My plan was to install the sonos amp vertically behind the TV - to which i had verified the depth. However I have a question relating to vertical and hidden installations. If I am ‘hiding’ my Sonos Amp within a wall, on a wall bracket, will there be any detrimental performance issues? Obviously I am considering heat dispersion and have allowed for passive ventilation. However the void depth in which I am installing is 90mm-100mm (64mm sonos amp, installed on a wall bracket, allows for around 30-40mm), the height and width is essentially the entire cavity of the wall. So lots of space to dissipate any heat is what I think? I will be cabling direct to the sonos amp (cat6 cable, HDMI to TV, speaker cabling + power of course). S
