Hi, I have some power amps here that don't have any volume control as such they were originally designed to be used with a dedicated pre-amp/DAC for volume control. Now I believe the Connect has volume control? I know the pre-out (RCA) voltage I require to achieve full volume from my amplifier. But I can't find what the expected output voltage is from the Connect at full volume when it is for example streaming from Spotify? I need to know that it is going to be capable of achieving a decent volume otherwise I will need to purchase an additional pre-out booster which introduces its own problems. Cheers, Luke
Hi all, I am new to this forum and just received and set up my SONOS Connect to replace 10-year-old Squeezebox SB3 . Pretty easy setup with my existing audio system and ethernet /wifi system within 15 minutes. I have issue with low volume from Connect despite set the volume to maximum from SONOS apps/desktop, playing from both music library, Spotify and iphone music. Volume dial was set at 40 of Krell KAV 400Xi integrated amplifier. With same volume setting, my previous SB3 can play a louder music. Please note I am using Coaxial output (digital) to Cambridge Audio DacMagic then to Krell. Nevertheless, the sound produced from Connect and my current audio setup is much warmer, crystal clear than previous SB3, just the volume at Integrated Amp need to set higher. Not a big issue, just curious why... Please advise.
I had a perfectly fine system with my iMac library holding all my music, Sonos controller, Sonos Sub-Woofer, Sonos Connect, Sonos Boost running some nice outdoor speakers, Sonos Playbar for the TV.. you get the idea. Well, the rug was just yanked out from underneath. Controller on the Mac wouldn't work unless I downloaded and installed the software update. I did it. It didn't work. After a lot of checking come to find out the OS on my Mac is not supported and per Sonos it's because Apple won't support it anymore. That's really weak. I have hundreds of software on my Mac and I know if I upgrade the OS then I'll loose a lot of those. I live by the axiom 'If it isn't broke, don't fix it.' Apparently in Apple and Sonos' infinite wisdom it does need fixing even though it all worked fine. I'm sure they could have a stripped down version of what it used to be but really, why couldn't they at least allow me options? I've just purchase a ZP120 and don't know which voltage setting to select. I live in the US (Washington). The label under the power connector reads 100-120V-/220-240V but the voltage select switch has 115 or 230 selections. Having seen several posts where the wrong choice was made and their unit was fried I want to make the correct choice for where I live. Thanks.
I have two pairs of speakers installed in the ceiling in my kitchen. I would like to know whether these can be powered by a single Connect:Amp. The speakers are rated as 6 ohms. I would be grateful for any advice or guidance as I am looking to increase my Sonos set up as soon as possible!
Hi, I have recently moved to a college where there is one wifi network for everyone to use. A couple of people have added their Sonos to this network already, which means that I can't add my Spotify account to the network. It is quite annoying that the others are able to control my Sonos, and I am able to control theirs, since I sometimes accidentally select the wrong one, and they do the same. How do I get my Sonos on its own network/channel so that only I can control my Sonos, and my Spotify account can be added to the network? Thank you!
I have a Sonos Connect-Amp but seem to need more power and am planning to switch to a Connect with a separate amp. I also use a speaker selector box with built-in volume control. I currently have six zones and am going to expand to eight. I'd like to get a good amp that won't break the bank but will give me 100 watts/channel or more. Seems that I need to double the power of the Connect-Amp or it's not worth the trouble. One other requirement is that the amp must be auto-sensing -- it has to turn on/off with the Sonos. I've done some searching and found some old threads but am curious as to what others are using now.
Hi My son is about to start university and will have access to the college internet through an ethernet port. I have read previous threads on access in such situations but wonder if this specifically should work : BTHomeHub5 - disabled WIFI both frequencies; ethernet wired to access point. Play 1 and laptop ethernet wired to BTHH5. Will laptop be able to control Play1? Alternatively, if Play1 ethernet wired to access point, can laptop or android phone connected to WiFi control the unit? John

Dear Sonos: First of all, I need to admit that your quality sound is amazing, but the interface....well... it's horrible, a mistake....and I suppose everyone knows that. So, what exactly are you trying to solve about this? I can imagine with: 1. Spotify App? 2. Amazon Alexa? I have named these because you're developing in these apps. 1. Spotify When i use Spotify on my Smartphone, I'm able to use the equalizer, music quality, etc. When I use Spotify to control my Sonos, i can't use the equalizer on Spotify, so? Must I use the Sonos App? and....I don't understand, are you developing a new way to control your Sonos, but with limitations? And worst? I just bought my Playbar and Sub, I just wanted an excellent Sonos App like the Sonos Audio. 2. Amazon Alexa I don't understand when you say on August 2016: Beginning in 2017, anyone with an Alexa-enabled device — right now that's the Echo, Echo Tap, or Echo Dot — will be able to control Sonos speakers with voice commands.
We just built a home and have three areas of existing speakers in the ceiling. Two speakers in the dining room, two in the kitchen and two outside on the deck. They are all wired to one location in our pantry. There will not be a tv or anything in there. What can I get to hook up to them so I can play music? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!
I am potentially moving to the USA in the next few months and want to take my play3's with me (I have three) I just have the units and no connecting AMPS. Will I be able to use the Play 3's over there by using an adaptor or will I need to buy new main's leads or will the change in wattage mean new units! Keen to avoid the last one if possible. Just not sure if they are made universally and then just different country adapters supplied? All advice gratefully received.
Anyone in the UK purchased an Amazon Echo and have it controlling your Sonos system or is this functionality not yet available? Also, does anyone know how the Amazon Echo will actually integrate with Sonos? Will it have to be hard wired to speakers or work just by the Alexa voice control? Many thanks for your time.
I was wondering , I've got a Sonos play 1 speaker ready for downstairs kids play room. I can't justify a play bar for kids room. I was thinking of getting a Sonos connect and running my tv audio through play 1 speaker that way? Would it work or would it not be s recommended thing to do? Look forward to anyone's help! Hi everyone, I am trying to set up a new system with the Play1 that I purchased. I have downloaded the Sonos app on an iPhone 4 with operating system 7.1.2 but when I open it only one option shows - "Connect to an existing system." I have tried deleting the app and installing it again, but get the same result. Thinking it might be the phone, I tried downloading the app on my daughter's iPad but again there is only one option showing - to connect to an existing system. Before doing this I had connected the speaker to the power source and it showed the white light then the flashing green light as described by the Sonos support pages. I have searched through the help pages but I've not found any comments on this problem. Your help, please?
My set up is a connect amp, play3 speaker, and a marantz sr5009. I want to keep my current set up (7:1 wired setup) and us the play3 as a wireless patio speaker(So that i can listen to football games). This is where i hit a snag, the volume is very low even on the high setting in the sonos app. I have the connect amp plugged into the audio out of the marantz. Is there anyone out there who has had this same problem, and have a fix for this. i feel like i have tried everything except for going out and buying a preamp. thanks ~1morewave
