Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

I am looking to wire up a house and use built in speakers to create 6 zones (inside & outside), inclusive of a TV surround set up that I would like to have available as a separate SONOS zone when not watching TV. I am assuming CONNECT:AMPs for zones to connect to built in speakers, CONNECT for my existing traditional set-up with amp/preamp/speakers, and I don't know how to create a full surround TV zone that uses only built in speakers? Any ideas? We're starting the wiring two days from now... Thank you!
It seems my ZP90 has died (no light and no heat) and I have been told that the Connect is the the very same spec. Anyone know if the gubbins inside are the same or have some of the components been updated? Thanks.
Hi there, Could someone please explain whats the main difference between Sonos Boost vs Sonos Brigde ? Yes, i use 5.1 Sonos system and all components connected to my home WIFI router without wires. So far so good, just few times noticed "unable to play Spotify song and skipping " when WIFI was in heavy usage at home (it was 4 users at home all were using same WIFI network). So my question, whats the best to improve performance for Sonos 5.1 - Boost or Brigde ? Thanks in advance
I've got a my cd player running through a ZP90 and into an amp which works fine, I can control the volume with that from the controller on my phone. When I group this to my Connect Amp I'm able to play the cds through the speakers connected to this amp and am likewise able to play tunes off my phone across both of these systems, The problem comes when I try and add my Play 1 to this group, the zp90 drops out and I can no longer play cds or music to the zp90. Can any one make any suggestions? While you're at it I've got two CR100s from the States but haven't been able to add them to my system. Have tried all the standard suggestions but got nowhere. Thanks in advance
System was working OK up until a few days ago when some speakers dropped off, re-added them and no issues doing that. My BOOST is connect via ethernet to a iMAC running Sierra (no wifi turned on) and I use the SONOS speakers to provide the network coverage. Now since the issues, if I fire up the desktop controller on the iMAC it tells me my system is not found even though I am connected to the BOOST, but if I turned the wireless on, then it can see it? If I reset the controller and try and set up a new system, pressing the orange light on the BOOST does not take me any further, it just gives an error message saying its to far from the router. It also won't discover the system when the controller resets as well. I have swapped ethernet ports on the back of the BOOST(no luck), changed router ports (no luck), changed ethernet cable (no luck), turned the BOOST off/ on (no luck), turned router & iMAC on/ off (no luck) nothing else has changed, the system still plays perfectly, just the BO
I have a bridge connecting to router in living room. I have a Play 5 connected in kitchen and a Connect Amp connected 20 feet away in back of house. I want to add another Connect Amp in garage. It will be approximately 40 feet away from Connect Amp in back of house. Will the mesh connect them all? Thanks
Hi all I hope this is the right place to post this. I have an existing Sonos setup in my house that works great. I am doing some renovations which will include bringing video outside (already have Zone2 audio outside) and wanted to get the board’s ideas on the best way to accomplish what my new goals are. My current setup: I have a Play:3, a Connect, and a NAS Drive (WD MyCloud). The Connect is hardwired to both my AVR (Toslink) and my WiFi Router (Cat5). Setup currently works great – I can play over my wired 7.1 system through the Connect and AVR or play to the front room via wireless to the Play:3. Or even better…both at same time Obviously the NAS drive is accessible through both the AVR/Connect and the Play:3. I also have current patio speakers through Zone2 and can listen to Sonos outside with no problems through Connect and AVR/Zone2. What I want to do: I will be brining video outside to the patio for the first time. Which throws a potential wrench in to how I
When trying to stream normal audio from a Connect RCA line in to a remote Connect the audio drops in and out consistently. Numerous accounts of the same issue are in the Community but no solutions, not even adding the Boost works. Is the product just not able to handle streaming a line in without the drops?
The sound on my ZP90 comes and goes-its not the connection or cables or amp because when i hook up my sonos connect everything works- how to get it repaired?
I live on a school campus with a secured wireless system where I have to register every device I have onto the network with their mac addresses. When connecting, it tells me I need a 12 character line for the address but my sonos products give me 13. Which character do I drop for the wireless connection and for the wired connection for my sonos?
Hi, I have an old electric piano which I would normally connect to a mixer, and then to an amp/speaker combination. I also have 2 Sonos 5's (in our living room). I am thinking of moving the piano to the living room. If I got a Connect, would I be able to use my piano with my Sonos 5's? What does the Connect 'expect', in terms of a signal? Many thanks.
Can the Boost be connected to a WiFi extender with a cable or is it recommended to connect it to the router even if the router has poor coverage in several rooms where I have various Sonos equipment?
Hi I REALLY miss the ability to mute a single zone! Why did you change this! So many times I want to mute just one for a moment without stopping the other grouped zones. This is really a downgrade for me. Any chance you can make this configurable, or somehow still allow the mute button to function as an actual mute button?
Right, I've tried hooking this sub to the Amp using a proper, expensive subwoofer cable as well as a plain licorice RCA-cable to no avail. (Subwoofer is active) Any ideas :?
Do you know how I can play music 24/7 on my sonos play 5s using Spotify or the Sonos playlist?
I've been listening to WOSU-FM, 89.7, in Columbus, Ohio for years through my Sonos system. Now all the sudden it won't play and I get an error message saying the station can't be found. Do you have a way of check this out? Thank you.
Question & Inquiry about the setup that the Technician made in my Dad's house.
Hello if I may ask for some advice before any purchase, I live in a converted barn and the main living area is large with 5m vaulted ceiling and I wanted to ask how Sonos would perform in this space as our present and old 5.1 system when playing a movie seems to lose clarity on speech with all the background noise whereas watching say sky news with just the newscaster speaking is clear and I think it's the room and want to change to an updated better quality system and thought the experience of folks in this community maybe able to add some wisdom as to what sonos set up would work best, thank you
When will I be able to tell Siri or google or Alexa to play on sonos ?
Followed all the instructions and no sound coming from speakers.
Just a suggestion for wireless headphones. It would be cool if someone could walk around their house or where ever they are connected to wifi and steam any source of music that is listed on the controller to their headphones. The headphones would charge from a headphone hanger/dock and when ever you take them off you would resort to the prompting the user to select a source of music. They could also be used for a personal home theater like when one is watching a movie and they keep it playing to make some food or get something. They would be connected to the connect amp in order to get the home theater. Just a suggestion in case someone at Sonos would sees this. Feel free to message or comment on this post about the idea or to critique it. I will do some research into the whole idea to see if it is all possible.
Hi. There are 2 types of Sonos Connect Amp boxes, see the attachment. What are the differences? In what years the each boxes were sold?
I've got a couple of beautiful Clements Audio Speakers with Ribbon Tweeters that can handle an immense amount of power. I've had them hooked up to a ZP120 and they sounded great, but I recently picked up a 2nd ZP120 and tried using the left channel of one and the right channel of the other to drive the pair of speakers and they literally "came alive". Controlling the volume on them is no problem as long as take the two amps and group them together but when I add them to a larger group, (I've got components and Zones all over the house) it becomes problematic. I need to control left and right independantly. Is there a way to set up 2 Amps as a stereo pair as can be done with a pair of Play 1, 3, or 5s?
wifi error
We tried to set up a Play 3 and Play 1 at our office, but when they created their own network during setup, it used the same IP address as one of our other offices and our ISP saw it as a potential security threat and kicked us offline. Is there anyway that we can set up the speakers without the temporary network or can we change the IP address?
