Advanced setups

Here is what I have: LG TV Bose SoundTouch 120 Cable Xbox Roku Sonos Play:3 in living room Sonos Play:1 in bedroom #1 Sonos Play:1 in bedroom #2 Sonos Play:1 in bathroom Right now I have my cable, xbox, and roku all running straight to different inputs on my TV via HDMI, and sound running from the TV to the Bose via optical cable. We use the Sonos system separately of all this. What I'd like to be able to do is run the TV audio through Sonos in addition to my Bose, so for instance, if we're having a football party (or xbox/roku), we can all watch the game and hear it through the Bose soundbar, but if somebody goes to the bathroom or any other room they can still hear the game through the Sonos speakers. If I got a Sonos Connect, and connected the Connect to the Bose via the red/white cables, will this work the way I think it will? Or, can anyone think of another way?

can i use sonos without the internet?

I've used InSSIder to look at wireless signals near me and it only detects a SonosNet signal if the Sonos controller (CR100) is on. When the controller goes to sleep the SonosNet signal disappears off InSSIDer despite music still being played. Why doesn't InSSIDer pick up the SonosNet signal ? Is there another wifi detector that would see it ? Would something like Wi-Spy see it ?

Hi. I cant see what level (bps) of music quality SONOS is using then streaming from Spotify or Tidal. I have Sportify Premium and Tidal Hi-Fi subscribtion. Where to see/set? Can SONOS get access to Premium/Hi-Fi quality form these streaming services through SONOS app? Br. Kim

I'm interested in a Play1 but would prefer to have the speaker with an aux input so that it's more versatile. Is there a aux to Ethernet adapter that would allow me to plug aux input? A quick amazon search shows male aux to female Ethernet, so maybe with a few more adapters it could work.

I want to use the Play1 standalone when I travelling. Quite often in 'modern' hotels you can only access their wifi when not only password but also a username needs to be inserted. In this way I cannot setup the Play1 without additional equipment. I have quite often taken a spare wifi-router and mini-NAS with USB connection and mass storage with me to arrange access to music and get control (without being connected to the internet), but this is extra weight, and basically needs to be pre-configured before travelling, and therefore extra hassle. Is there a simpler way to get access to a USB stick with music and preferrably also Bluetooth? How about Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi, or are there better/easier devices to be used, hopefully with additional functionallity?

My SONOS set up includes 6 rooms (3 with stereo pairs) which also includes a CONNECT that is plugged directly into my router. I then run a line in to my TV to be able to listen to it on my SONOS system. (predominantly in the living room) A certain times the audio suffers the stuttering and drop outs when watching the TV (everything works perfectly when streaming music to any room) I have purchase a BOOST to sort this issue out once and for all, but I was wondering if anyone can let me if i need to plug both the BOOST & CONNECT into my router? Or does the BOOST go into the router and the CONNECT plugs into the BOOST.... thanks

I use my AV Reciever as a switch for all my devices (computer, Satellite, Cable TV, etc) and it is connected to the TV. Since yesterday I had a couple of speakers connected to the AV reciever. I want to get the sound of the different HDMI components to listent through the connect and the others sonos speakers. So far I only could do it using the Phones connection, using a jack/RCA cable, but it generate interferences and stop every now and then. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I bought sonos so I could set it up with my turntables and mixer system, doing away with my wired speakers and offering more flexibility. So far though I haven't had any joy in getting this correct. I did phone in a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't hear back. I have two technics 1210's connected to an Allen and Heath mixer which is then connected to a Cambridge Audio amp, which was then connected to two speakers. I have a Sonos Bridge, Sonos Connect and a play 5. If someone can help with instructions/diagrams on how this should be set up I would be delighted.

Hi, We have a Sonos setup that is split across two buildings. One building houses audio and networking equipment and building 2 is where the sonos speakers are playing. We have issues where the Sonos Connect sometimes isn't found and doesn't show up on the network. We use the Sonos connect for line-in functionality. Based on the research I've done, it looks like I might need to disable the wireless on the Connect and/or replace my switch with one that supports STP. I've attached a diagram for reference, just wanted to get some input before I purchase hardware. Thanks!

The 'simple & easy way' highlighted in Sonos official support site is simply not working for me (and I can't really grasp how it could...) https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1072/kw/change%20wifi%20router While connected to the old router/wifi, I've changed the sonos app wifi to new connection and done same to my laptop (I seem to have to be on the old connection, otherwise the setup on sonos app just won't open setting etc). Then unplugged a device, connected the Ethernet cable to the new router and plugged in device. Quickly that device comes up on my sonos app on my laptop. That's where all job stops... In the support page it simply says unplug each device if they don't appear automatically... leave for 10 sec and plug in. However no job - beyond the one connected via Ethernet cable. Hope someone is able to assist...

Is there an option in the 6.4 controller software to remove a household? There used to be an option to Forget Current Sonos System from Settings -> Advanced Settings.

Hardly advanced but cannot see any means to do this automatically. I want to play from an existing queue, at a set time each day for an hour. The alarm would be the obvious tool but it does not allow playing from the existing queue. It has to be the existing queue as I want to continue playing from a very large playlist that is set on repeat and want to continue where it stopped on the previous day. Any bright ideas?

Did anyone try it? will it work? Sonos suggest to by pass the AV receiver with all components in to TV and Optical out to Play bar..... I am just trying to de-clutter my living room with the a play bar, sub & play 3 to replace my 5.1 speakers. and of course sync with my other sonos products around the house. will it works?

How to receive a notification (or whatever) when the volume is changed by any client on the network. I am ok in opening a socket, which seems to be the way it travels over the network but I don't know what the frame will look like. I can control many functions of my Sonos using the POST apis. That is one thing that I can't figure out. Any help on the matter is much appreciated! thx

i want to use sonos in a presentation setting. Currently i have a microphone connected to a mixer, and the mixer connected to an amplifier wired with speakers. I want to replace the wired speakers with wireless speakers. I don't have internet network. Is it possible with sonos? If so, what sonos equipments do I need to buy to accomplish what I want?

Hello, I would like to raise a discussion about the advanced setting "Audio Compression", which is a global setting. Meaning, that if you change this setting, it is applied to all your line-in components. I have a connect-component that has a Vinyl-player attached to it. I have a play 5 that has a computer attached as line-in. I'm having enormous problems with my vinyl player/Connect component. I've had several calls with sonos and it does not get solved. For now, the only solution is to go "compressed", but I have a problem with that. This implies that if I look at a movie on my pc, and use the line-in on the Play 5, I'm out of sync with sound / picture. So I'll have to re-change the setting to "automatic" and when playing vinyl again to "compressed"... and so on and so on Sonos is way to expensive for this. It's already sad that I have the problem with the connect component, it's not user friendly to keep me switching my settings So, I really need a non-global settin

Good evening friends, I'm back at it... trying to fix my set up. It's never quite worked right, but, as you'll see, there are so many variables that I don't often get the time to sit down, diagram it and try and troubleshoot it. Here's the TLDR: when I use line in (Apple Airport Express for Air Play, or Amazon Dot) the audio breaks up instantly, and then it totally quits within 3 minutes. Other symptoms: the Bathroom Play:1 barely works - streaming audio is choppy, controller frequently can't 'find' it longer version: My network should be up to the challenge. I've got cat6e everywhere and all GigE switches. And yet, devices plugged into switches seem to prefer wireless over wired routes. I've got STP (vs RSTP) enabled on all my managed switches. Hello everyone. I wonder if Sonos Connect does the DAC conversion of analog signal, that comes in to the device, and then do the conversion again while sending it to 'analog out'? I think it does and I look for a possibility to use Connect as a preaplifier but without double conversion? I need to plug in hi-end CD (with better DAC then Sonos) to power aplifier and would like to use Sonos as a preaplifier but without loosing quality. It is possible? Pawel

Hi, is it possible to have the tv sound to come out of all my Sonos Play 1's/Sub when watching TV? And with the same setup,have a turntable connected to the Play1's/Sub when listen to music. I wouldn't be listening to the turntable and tv at the sametime, but might listen to the turntable and just want video from the TV. Is this possible with any combination of speakers? The turntable has a built in amp.

Hello, I work for an IT company that is having some issues with some of your devices. We currently have 4 so so play one's and two of the play 3's. For some reason on wired or wireless they devices are always dropping connection and we need to start the setup process over. Whenever 3 or more of the devices are playing there always seems to be buffering and or lag (the rest of the network seems to be fine). All of the devices are on the same vlan. We were going to buy some of those boost devices but not sure if that will help.

Have multi zone Sonos system and looking for a solution to have doorbell sound out over speakers. Found discussion regarding using a Viking SLP-1 or SLP-4 to accomplish this: http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-custom/thread.cgi?23394 The SLP-4 has multiple doorbell sound options and runs ~$450 but does a lot of things not needed. Rather spend this cash on something else like another Connect:Amp. Any other options on this?

It would be fantastic if SONOS could become DNLA compatible or PLEX media server compatible .... Or if SONOS propose a plugging to make PLEX and SONOS compatible.... PLEX media server work on WINDOWS / MAC / LINUX and propose free package for most of the NAS of the market....
