Advanced setups

Hi all, I am designing the LAN for a company. The whole network is separated in VLANs, for security reasons. The SONOS system is deployed on the same LAN than the WiFi connection of the office, which means every mobile connected to the WiFi is able to control the SONOS. Now, I have a computer which is in another VLAN that would need to control the SONOS. From a network point of view, everything is setup. I can ping every speaker from that computer, the routes have been setup. So, basically, I should be able to be connected to this SONOS System, but it looks like the automatic detection doesn't see the speakers. It would be nice if I could specify on which network I can reach the SONOS. How could I make this work? Thanks you so much in advance for your help, Louis

So I recently invested in the LG OLED55C7P, which is gorgeous. I can now run my individual HDMI sources (Cable, Apple TV 4K, Xbox One 😵 to the TV, and audio out through optical to the playbar and beyond. All was good for video and sound - 5.1 for each source, and I didn't need a splitter (I used the Octava before, with my old TV). In reading about Dolby Vision, etc., I saw that Apple recommended the Belkin Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. I saw conflicting opinions, but I wanted to use the best that I could, so I bought the cable and stuck it between the Apple TV and the TV. Boom - I started getting the 'Unsupported Audio' error in Sonos. I recycled power for everything, tweaked the TV audio output settings, tweaked the Apple TV audio output settings, and no luck. So, I swapped the good old HDMI cable back in, and life is fine. So my question is - does anyone have perspective on why this cable, which I'd assume would be backward compatible, would have issues? I have just purchased a Reloop RP2000 turnable (with Pre Amp) and a Sonos Connect. I already have numerous Sonos speakers. I was told I can connect the turntable to my system through Connect as an input. But it seems to be treating my Connect device like another speaker and I can’t see the input from the turntable. Would love some advice

Hello, I have my 3-unit Sonos system setup in boost mode. I have confirmed this by following the instructions here: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3453/~/how-to-check-if-sonos-is-in-a-standard-or-boost-setup With my system in Boost mode I expected to be able to see my Sonos network in the list of WiFi networks identified by WiFi scanning tools. However, I'm unable to see it. I don't necessarily expect it to have an obvious SSID but I've been able to ascribe other SSIDs (at least those with with strong signals in my home) to other sources. Can others see their Sonos network using WiFi scanning tools? If I should not be expecting to see it, could someone please explain why? (I thought SonosNet was just a dedicated WiFi network) I'm not having any problems with my system. I'm just asking this out of curiosity. Hello, we currently use Sonos Play 1 in our company. One of our colleagues has premium Spotify and it plays well. However when that colleague is not at work and is privately listening to their spotify we cannot play music at the same time. I have now downloaded spotify on my phone but I cannot add my spotify to the Sonos app. I do not have Spotify premium however I do have music on my Iphone which won't allow me to view in the Sonos app all though I have allowed it in the settings.

How can one run different Sonos devices on separate networks in the same house? I have Sonos speakers in most rooms. But, I want to add a Playbase to a TV in another room, but not have it connected to the rest of my network. If I connect it to my Wifi, will it try to join up automatically? Do I need a separate Sonos account? It needs to see the internet to do updates or I would cut it off completely.

I got tired of waiting for Sonos to get around to release some kind of cast support (they have good reasons not to too). Before I began this was my wish list: Cast from android/iphone using chromecast, it should start automatically when I cast, have acceptable sound quality (I tried bluetooth with a similar setup but it sounded awful) and be relatively cheap. So, to the hardware: chromecast audio (I would recommend getting a normal chromecast and extract the audio - the one I got has some limitations), raspberry pi as transcoder (record output from chromecast and transform it into a mp3-stream that the sonos can handle) (and a USB sound card because the raspberry has no line-in (got a behringer UCA202 which is supported) Here is an image of the mess! :) After installing the standard raspbian (and running the raspi-config + apt update/upgrade) I proceeded to install pulseaudio (~for capturing and monitoring), vlc (for transcoding) and sox (for sound manipulation): **

I have a pair of in-ceiling speakers and use a connect: Amp to play music from Sonos/Spotify. I also would like to purchase a Playbar for my television. Can I use the same sub to provide extra bass for both connections, the Playbar and the Connect:Amp? I would not want to use both connections at the same time but would like to have both connect to the sub for convenience.

I have a sonos speaker and a sonos device that is a white box that I got to hook up my bluetooth record player to. (I don't know the specific names/models because they don't say on the devices themselves! Seriously guys? Why would you not put that on the thing itself? I'm a MORON!!! ASSUME YOU ARE SELLING TO MORONS!!!) Anyway, the bluetooth thing has never worked very well, and has recently stopped working at all, and I want to just have wires making it happen. I have 10 Sonos through out the house. My family has 3 different iTunes accounts. Each has their own playists 😉 Is it possible to have Multiple iTune accounts running on one system so kids can play their music in their rooms, BUT - I can still group the whole house and light it up :-)))))

I am setting up a FLASH USB drive to hold my music as a NAS attached to my router because I dont have a computer on all the time. My current windows Music file is 360GB but has lots of redundant files. The master folder, Music, contains six folders, Album, All Tracks, Artist, Folder, Genre and Playlists many of which copy the MP4s - so each track is copied around 5-6 times. I'm curious whether I need to retain all the folders which would require a larger thumb drive. What would I lose if I did not copy over the Album folder for example. I presume the folders serve to make it easier to list tracks by album and artist and genre but am curious since some of the information is also in the file metadata. Would love some advice

I have my sonos currently setup on my wireless internet network and it's working fine but the signal drops when too many devices connect to the internet. I am thinking of connecting the sonos systems to a router that doesn't have any internet connection running but will be able to create a network for sonos exclusively. I am wondering if this will be possible if that router does not have any internet connection? Please note: I am aware of Sonos Boost and what it can do to solve my problem but what I am trying to achieve is a dedicated sonos wireless network running with the help of a router without internet connection.

I would like to buy a turntable (preamp included) to play through house speakers. We have a server room for Control4. Sonos Connect is part of server rack. Music plays through house speakers. I have these other items available to use: Sonos 1 speaker, Apple TV, Alexa. In reading through the Turntable forum, it seems I could connect the turntable directly to a Sonos 5 and just directly play the music. However, I'm wondering if I can play the turntable (not directly wired) somehow to Sonos Connect and/or Control4? I don't think Sonos 1 speaker directly works with turntable. (I'm new at Control4, Sonos so I'm probably just looking for confirmation on the turntable playing music at its most basic use.) Thanks!

How can one switch sonos user accounts within the app?? This is in a corporate environment. Many users have home accounts, but want to associate and control the sonos at work. I would rather they just log into that account and use it (music services are already created and set up) instead of trying to associate the work system with their account. For Example: - User1 has their personal account (user1@somemail.com) with their system (using either android or apple phone). - Work1 is a work account for the work system (using work1@workmail.com). Everything is ready to go. How to log out of one account and log into another account on the app in the phone? I couldn't find such a way on my android phone and other users with apple report the same. Thanks!!

weird setup, calling on sonos power uses for a work around. Here it is: I would like to play live drums along with my sonos system. The problem is, I can't get them loud enough to hear over the drums. I have tried 2 play 1's and and a play 5, but neither is sufficient. I was hoping there was a way, I could wear headphones connected to my iPhone on the sonos app and still have the system send sound to all the speakers AND my headphones. Any thoughts?

I was told that as Sonos Play 1 is a effectively a network speaker and amp that I could hook it up to my PC wirelessly through the network so that all my PC sounds from whatever piece of software I am using comes from the Sonos Play One. This seems to be not possible. Does anyone know how I can do this.

We have 5 Sonos Connect:AMPs located throughout our warehouse and one Sonos Connect in the front of our building where the offices are. There are two separate network IDs, one for the warehouse and one for the offices. Our 5 Sonos Connect:AMPs are connected to the warehouse SSID. The Connect in the offices can only be connected to the office SSID. When my phone is connected to the Office SSID, I can see and control my Sonos Connect:AMPs (on different ID) with no problem. However, once I connect our 6th Sonos (Connect) to the office SSID, the Sonos Android App starts "freaking out," reloading multiple times before I can even choose a single option. Finally, after maybe 3-5 minutes, I could play music from my Office Sonos Connect, but my 5 Sonos Connect:Amps are no longer found in the app. Switching my phone to the Warehouse SSID now shows that there are zero Sonos connected, and our music is no longer playing. Is there a way to have all 6 Sonos devices either: A: All show in the App

So many of us want to use our Sonos system alongside all our media, not just streaming music. I have understood with research that there is a lag/delay with the sound when pictures too. This could be fixed with a plug-in for a browser or OS, which has calibrated the audio lag, so that we can watch Netflix or any other non streaming audio media. I am tempted to return the 2 Play:3's I bought because of this, and I'm sure I am not alone in this frustration. Having spoken to a Sonos Expert on the chat menu, she told me that this "might" be addressed in the future, and that the best thing to do is to leave a message on here. If this were to be solved, I as well as others would likely buy additional Sonos products. I honestly love the Play 3 as a product, makes great sound and great/simple interface, having had an Airport Extreme which had at least a headphone jack for streaming over 10 years ago, I'm surprised that it hasn't been part of the Sonos design.

I have a Sony ps-lx300usb. It has an internal preamp and is switched to "line". I have the turntable connected to the sonos connect amp with a y cable to play through my Sonos play 5. Yesterday, everything worked. I had some very old speakers that I also had hard wired to the connect-amp but disconnected them because they didn't sound very nice and only wanted to hear the music through the play-5 speaker. When I went to play the album today, I can't get any sound to come out of the play5 speaker. I've double checked all the connections, they are all secure and power is on. Please help. I don't understand how disconnecting the old hard wired speakers could have impacted the ability of the play5 speaker.

Hi, I would like to add a NAS to my switch so that I can transfer my music library to the NAS and access it from multiple devices. The library is currently in iTunes and I want to make sure that the NAS/Mac/Sonos combination all works.

I have 4 Yamaha NS-IW360C ceiling speakers with an impedance of 6 ohms each. How can I connect them to the SONOS Connect AMP to have two stereo zones? (Example: kitchen and dining room) No need to activate or deactivate any of the zones, they can always sound at the same time. Should I use a speaker selector? Do you recommend any? I also have a Yamaha YST-FSW150BL Advanced YST II Down-Firing Active Subwoofer, can I use this subwoofer with the SONOS Connect AMP? Thank you very much for your help.

I have a Sonos PLAY:1 in my office and it seems redundant to have PC speakers in there as well. Is there some way to connect the PC audio out to a PLAY:1?? Thanks so much!
