After 6 calls into Sonos I was told to get a managed switch to resolve the sudden loss of both Tidal and Spotify- the solution is/was unplugging the router wait 10 sec and all is good of a few hours days. Long story short I was told by the Sonos guys my Boost was veering way too much data and therefore I needed a managed switch to resolve Sonos would not provide a make or model just as long as it had the “snooping feature”. The setting provided where if no help Now I’m told I need to get ahold of a senior engineer Anyone one here have a NETGEAR managed switch? What settings are you using? So I am trying to connect my sonos beam to my projector. However the projector only has the red,white, yellow, etc outlets and the beam has the digital optical cable. I bought the adapter but I have tried every possible way to get it to work however the sonos alway says it doesn’t detect any sound coming from the “tv” (projector). The projector work as we hve our PlayStation hooked up to it and it is playing that sound but not through the speaker. What else do I try..?

I'm looking for advice on my beamer-audio setup, combined with a wireless speaker function for spotify. I made a scheme to make the 3 options clear in which I would like the set-up to work in an ideal case. But I know probably not realistic.. Would just be nice to sit in the couch and control everything through my Ipad.. I have all the material in the scheme (not chromecast and sonos yet), but looking to buy a Sonos. Could you please advice which of these 3 options works (red, blue and green)? Or in the case one doesn't work on the alternative? Many thanks!

I have a customer who wants an outdoor TV with outdoor speakers. I'm thinking of using a Sonos Amp for his TV audio and extending HDMI over Cat6 to his mechanical closet where the Amp is in the dry. My question is will ARC work over an extender? The run is about 60 FT.

I have a Onkyo TX NR787 AVR that supports the "Works with Sonos" feature. Part of the setup process involves attaching the AVR to your network and letting it search for your Sonos components. However, my AVR can't find any of them. I verified they're on the same subnet. I tried hardwiring them- first to the same switch, and then by connecting to the AVR to the hub on the back of the Sonos Connect. I also tried using wifi. I did a round of troubleshooting with Onkyo, and they think my receiver is working and can't explain why it can't see the Sonos components. Any ideas? Did something change in the network discovery protocols in the recent v10 update?

Hi, just wanted to ask a question on here from all you people in the know? I have recently brought 2 Sonos Play One's (to use in stereo) and want to take them to the caravan that I have. But the real question is that I have an iPhone that I can use data from and also a router in the van too, but the router has no internet. Is there anyway I can use something like tunein or spotify to play on the speakers from my iphones data via the router? I have looked at Apples's Airplay express but not so sure that this will allow it as I cannot use the iPhone data and connect to a network at the same time. Im guessing that airplay needs a wifi network to play? many thanks for any help and guidance Simon

I think I have all the stops to prevent Sonos from phoning home. Here's what I have configured on my wireless router: - Block all internet access from Play:*, Connect & Amp - Block all traffic from my music server PC to 104.97.121.120 (sonos.com) What am I missing? (oops: looks like Pandora may go through sonos.com - is that correct?)

I've read conflicting conversations about this, so... Can I get a 5.1 setup with the Sonos Playbar + Sonos Connect Amp + 3rd-party In-ceiling Passive Speakers + 3rd-party Active Subwoofer? Is it as simple as connecting the 3rd-party passive in-ceiling speakers to the speaker posts of the Connect Amp and the 3rd-party active subwoofer to the Sub Out on the same Connect Amp? If so, will Trueplay Tuning work in this configuration?

Hi there I had my Sonos One speakers installed and working until I had to integrate some HW to my network (home and office combined): After installing a Zyxel 2S Firewall (with VPN site-to-site functionalities) which also serves as my DHCP, I can not get my two Sonos One Speaker System to work again.The issue starts when trying to connect my Sonos App on iOS or Android to my account. When connected to the WiFi behind the Firewall, I get an Error message like "Network problem... check Internet connection and date/time settings". What I have tried already: When I temporary connect to a WiFi outside the Firewall (e.g. my mobile 4G network), I can login on the Sonos App and get to next step. When I then change back to the WiFi AP behind the Firewall to find my speakers, I can also set up both speakers. That all goes until registering the speakers to my Sonos account, for which I need to connect back to the WiFi outside the Firewall to get that step going. Unfortunately this was not

Setup question. I have a living room TV with a Beam, Sub, and two play 1’s as surround. I’m having two outside patio speakers installed Wednesday so we can listen to Music outside. I ordered the new Amp so I can use the outdoor speakers either for music or for the TV if a game is one inside. Does that mean I should run the beam off the optical and the new amp off the HDMI Arc input? I assume I’ll still be able to control the beam with my remote but sounds like I’ll only be able to control the Amp with my phone? Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi I have a Sonos Amp Connect and Sonos5, both are connected by cable to a router. I recently added a Mesh network (TP LINK Deco 5) that is connected to the router and defined a separate Wifi network (with a different name then the one I have on the router). Since I added the Mesh network, my iPhone’s Sonos app can’t find Sonos on the network. My phone is on the new Mesh WiFi network. I used the app to put Sonos on that same new network and then I do see it on the app but after a few ministers the Sonos components switch back to the old WiFi network (maybe it is because it is connected by cable to the original router?). Anyway, I would like Sonos to be connected by cable but still use the new Mesh network. I’m lost.... Hope I was able to define the problem clear enough... Thoughts?

I've just received the new Sonos AMP. Is there a way of bridging the two speaker outputs into 1 channel, for 1 speaker? With wiring (+) terminal from Right channel and (-) terminal from Left channel. So it is working in mono/bridge mode.

My kitchen is a wifi blackspot and so I have used a TP-LINK AV200 power-line adaptor to extend the range of my wifi to that room. So I in effect have two wifi access points (for present purposes, lets call them HomeNet and HomeNet-TPL). My kitchen is the room we use the most and the Sonos Play 5 we have there connects to HomeNet-TPL. At least, I assume it does since they are next to each other and HomeNet doesn’t normally reach the kitchen. The Sonos Bridge connects by Ethernet cable to the Homenet Router. The problem is that my iPhone App doesn’t always find my Sonos Network when it connects to HomeNet-TPL (as it normally does when I am in the kitchen) and so I cannot control Sonos. I normally fix this by walking towards the HomeNet Router and then when my iPhone connects to that part of my network it then finds Sonos. However, this is an intermitted problem. Sometimes, my iPhone app does succeed in finding Sonos when it connects to HomeNet-TPL. Any ideas to avoid this anno

I recently added a TP-Link TL-SG1008 unmanged switch to my network. Though I can still connect to my Sonos speaker from a wireless device connected to the same wifi network, I have lost connection to my desktop computer. The switch is between my desktop and the router. My desktop still has internet access, so there is a working connection between the computer and the router through the switch. Is there some network setting I'm missing? Thanks!

I have a turntable attached to a preamp, which is attached to a Sonos Connect. It works fine and I can listen to records through Sonos play1s.. but at night when the family is asleep I'd like to listen via Bose QC35ii bluetooth headphones. So I got a Taotronics BA-90 bluetooth transmitter and plugged it into the digital audio out on the Connect.. it pairs with the headphones but still I get no sound through the headphones and still audio through the play1s. What am i doing wrong?

I've seen a few posts with people asking about a PoE version of the Play:1, so I decided to make one. The Sonos Play:1 only has an AC input, and internally the main supply is 24 volts DC. Standard 802.3af/at PoE is roughly 48 volts and requires the device to include negotiation logic, so adapting it would require some extra hardware. However, I realized something that makes this project way easier: many "enterprise" WiFi systems use a nonstandard scheme called "Passive PoE" where 24 volts is applied directly to the Ethernet cable with no negotiation steps. Even better, the Sonos Play:1 is a 100 Mbit Ethernet device, not gigabit. 100M Ethernet uses only two of the four pairs in a cat5 cable (gigabit uses all four), and the other two are spare. 802.3af/at standard PoE requires that the device be able to accept power on any set of pairs, but "passive PoE" usually only uses the spare pairs. Hi, I have seen a couple other posts about this but I wanted to also request that Sonos creates an option for us to save multiple customized EQ settings . Every time I switch between listening to music and watching TV I have to totally change my EQ, bass, treble, and even sometimes sub woofer. I can do it but my wife really needs the presets so she can just switch from music to tv within the EQ. This would greatly improve the user experience in my opinion, and make things easier for those in the household who aren’t savvy in this sort of thing. I believe if enough customers join and request this the programming department could implement it into the app rather easily.

Have a Sonos Connect AMP, and I love the quality of sound it generates with my own speakers, and now thinking of expanding system. I recently purchased it, and now Sonos AMP is out, so I feel a bit unhappy about that, and I would likely have waited a little to purchase new unit. I have recently upgraded from consumer grade router to pfsense+unifi switch and AP config. I have designed my network so that I have 3 separate segregated networks, on different VLANs. MAIN LAN, IOT LAN, GUEST LAN. Like many other folks before me, according to the hours I have spent reading forums, I am having an issue getting APP on MAIN to work with SONOS on IOT. I have a Sony TV which will be located in one room and I would like to use a new Sonos Amp which will reside in a closet in another room. I would like to use an optical cable instead of ARC. Can I use the HDMI to optical adapter and control the amp volume with the cable remote?

I'm having an issue with my new Sonos AMPs and AirPlay working across VLANs. This setup is in a corporate environment. The Sonos lives on it's own subnet (VLAN 10), and guests connect to another (VLAN 20). I have a Bonjour gateway configured so that devices on VLAN 20 can see the Sonos advertising AirPlay on VLAN 10. Also, for the purposes of troubleshooting, I've allowed all traffic between both VLANs. This is working as expected, clients can connect and begin streaming. The issue I'm having is that I'm experiencing random 1-2 second dropouts, and after ~15 minutes the connection will completely drop. A packet capture shows everything humming along just fine until the Sonos sends a TCP reset and the client disconnects. The issue does not occur when both devices are on the same VLAN. This issue happens with multiple clients and all of my Sonos AMPs. This happens to both wired and wireless clients. The AMPs are wired. The basics of the network are: Meraki WAPs and Swi

Can the sonos amp power my Dynaudio passive speakers and let me use a sonos wireless sub ?

I am a bit confused, i have a boost and all my sonos devices are wireless connected to it via sonosnet. In some mesh systems like velop you can wire some extra components and the cable is used as a “backup” I always thought that with sonosnet you can only have 1 (boost) wired to the router, but now i hear you can also have some speakerswired to it. Was there a change in the sonos mesh system that i now can use a “wired backbone” ? Thanks Rob

I have two Ubiquiti APs and want to add a third, problem is that sonosnet is using one of the 2.4 channels and i want to use it for the third AP. Tried moving my SONOS speakers to the APs from their original boost mode. That went ok but curiously it seems that the speakers gravitate to the same AP rather than than the closest. I wonder if the speakers are checking the BSSID in addition to the SSID? - perhaps to avoid multiple hops if repeaters are used?
