Advanced setups

Hey folks —i am struggling to get my arc to play game audio from the new Xbox. I have a unique and perhaps uniquely annoying set-up, so perhaps its impossible but I figured I’d ask here.  My set-up is Apple TV to ceiling mounted projector + arc. I am sending the Xbox signal to the projector with a wireless hdmi transmitter, but since the projector has no speakers, there is no audio. I tried to send Xbox audio to the arc by installing an hdmi audio extractor between the Xbox and the transmitter with an hdmi cord patched directly into the arc from the extractor’s audio only out Jack. But it didn’t work.  any ideas for a working solution here? I’m totally stuck. 

I upgraded to the sonos 2 app and my bridge was incompatible, then I changed Internet provider and now I'm left with 4 of my 5 speakers connected, I've just bought the sonos boost and connected it to my new broadband, it has installed straight away but nothing will connect to it, my 4 speakers are now onto my new network and all of a sudden my boost has disappeared and nothing seems to work to get it recognised, and I still don't have my bathroom speaker connected. This should be simple but is stressing me out. 

Hi everybody!I'm trying to integrate Play:1 as upnp renderer in a multiroom setup based on Logitech Media Server.Everything works fine except that Play:1 hangs on all AAC Internet radios and returns "Unable to play 'xxxx' - the song is not encoded correctly" on screen and Sys error log.One solution could use the transcoding function of the upnp plug-in in the server, but….I understood that Sonos supports MP3, AAC and WMA audio formats for radio, so I wonder where the problem could be.Please help.

Hi, I’m new to the Sonos ecosystem 1 x playbar2 x sonos one’s (with akexa)So far I’m loving the compatibility but I’m unsure how AirPlay works when my speakers are connected to the dedicated 2.4ghz network and my phone is connected to the 5ghz network? Both networks are completely independent [xxx(2.4) & xxx(5)] so they are distinguishable. Whilst this is the case I’m still able to AirPlay without an issue. So I’m wondering how my phone is picking up the speakers to AirPlay when they are on two completely different networks? it goes against my understanding of wifi networks and internet security?Hence my question. 

Up to yesterday I was able to connect to a pair of Sonos One via Airplay/Wifi (same network) from my AppleTV 4K and used the Ones as Speakers for movie sound - worked fine.Since of today, the Sonos speakers are not visible any more in AppleTV's "audio and sound" setting. As I have in total 4 Wifi Access Points in the house, I played with them too. The Sonos connects to one, the AppleTV to another. However, all devices are in the same subnet.I can stream to the Sonos speakers from other Apple devices in the Network via AirPlay without problems.Any idea? How can I check what could be wrong?

I have recently purchased a MK63 netgear system with an additional satellite.SONOS works with the Netgear system using the wifi, however I am unable to use my wired computer for SONOS.The mesh uses IP settings starting with 10.0 etc, whereas the wired Virginmedia router uses 192. etc.It does seem obvious that as my working SONOS on the wifi is using IP addresses starting with the 10, and my router with the 192, wired systems will not be able to see the mesh IP addresses as the VM router is the DHCP for the wired configuration whereas the mesh router is the DHCP for wireless devices.I thought that I would bring this to your attention as there has been a few questions relating to mesh systems. SONOS is not having the problem, it seesm as though it is the network configuration with the IP addressing.Is there a way around it?

Dear Forum, I have a home gym studio which is 7m x 10m square with 2.6m heigh ceiling and im wondering if i can fill this space with a Sonos system?Do the Sonos speakers technical gudiance on the space they can provide music to? Im thinking of 4 to 6 Sonos 1s, 1 in each corner and one half way down the 10m side, expert thoughts?if a good quality wifi router was in the corner of that 7x10 room, is that coverage going to be ok to reach the furthest speaker?The stuido is currently being built. so would you cat 6 the speakers, which needs a power socket and cable socket at each?im assuming to put the OneSLs around 2m high on the wall, thoughts?Its obvious that a sub joined to this system would be a benefit, but costs are always an issue. Can i join a Sub wifi at later point while up to 6x OneSLs are wired?Any other thoughts? Im keen to get thoughts from those with more knoledge than i

I have been having some problems connecting my Sonos to my home Wi-Fi and I just wanted to confirm if Sonos wlll support CCMP (AES) encryption.I am only able to get it to connect to the Wi-Fi if I use TKIPIt will not connect using CCMP (AES) is it supported?

Would be so nice if we could play music to multiple, bluetooth-connected Moves.I’ve had my pair of Moves for six months now and love almost everything about them but this one pitfall. My Megabooms could do this, but are nowhere near the sound quality. Is there not a way Sonos could implement this? From what I understand, the Megaboom app does this by creating a temp WiFi network between the speakers. I would think this is possible with Moves since they’re already WiFi capable.I know there are alternatives (Spotify Group Sessions, AmpMe, hotspot kluge). I’m not interested in those. They either suck, require multiple devices for individual connection or cost a bunch of moola (and are still a pain in the ass).I should be able to go into the Sonos app (or a separate Sonos Move app) and play synchronized music to every Move that is bluetooth-connected to my device.

I was a bit surprised that connecting Amp to Arc required they both be connected to wired ethernet. It wasn’t a big problem - just required some wiring.Now that I’m preparing to purchase sub, am I going to have the same requirement - or can sub complete my home theater via wifi?

Hi,I use my Sonos devices mostly for listening to the same 5 ~ 7 radio stations. I use the cheap IKEA remote control to skip to the next station every now and then.I have 2 minor issues:the slight, but annoying starting-lag when switching stations due to loading (whereas starting music from my local server comes with no perceivable delay at all) two of the radio stations play very annoying commercials at the start of the stream whenever I load themI’m looking for a solution for these 2 issues.I’m running a Raspberry PI on my local network, so I think a proxy solution could help that would permanently buffer the 7 stations. My Sonos system would then connect to the proxy instead of the original stations. But I have not found a working solution yet. Any tips are much appreciated! M.

Hi, I have several Sonos devices (Original Playbar, BEAM, Sonos1, Sonos5 etc)Since I work from home (particularly now we are in COVID lockdown) I average 5-6hrs a day video conferencing with customers. Headphone/earphones make my ears hot and itchy, so I prefer to play my audio out loud.At the moment, I’m using an >15yo old amp and speakers for my computer audio as I can’t seem to get Sonos to play audio without a lot of delay. I’ve tried through audio jack, via optical/HDMI adapter (original playbar), and directly through HDMI (Beam). Nothing I’ve tried seems to alleviate the problem.Since I think the delay is to be able to sync streaming music all over the house, and that’s a feature I never use, do you think it would it be possible for Sonos to include an option to turn off the delay? I’m pretty sure the CPU could do realtime audio since a teeny Raspberry Pi can run the whole videoconferencing.Anyone got any other idead how I can get delay free audio without hacking the hardware

Cm1000 modem Orbi RBK50 router with two satellites at 210mbs. Living room (arc) has main Orbi router. Basement (gen3 sub and two gen3 fives) has Orbi satellite. Question: What is the optimal wired settup for both rooms? 

I am building a new home and in addition to planning on a Sonos Arc, Sub and Move I have want hard wired Sonos Architectural speakers in a few sperate areas. Can they be independently controlled thru Amp or is it all or nothing with these speakers.

I have a 1st gen play 5 and a spare 2nd gen play 5, my question is, is there a way to connect the first gen play 5 through the zone player and connect it to S2? Like a powered monitor?

Having read through a number of different setups for getting Sonos working on a separate VLAN, I thought I’d post my setup.  I find that a lot of these setups are very specific to the hardware involved, so the more examples, the better.I have two Sonos networks in two different locations, connected at all times via site-to-site VPN.  My problem was that when I moved from location A to location B, my Sonos controllers (phone and laptop) would tend to stick to the last working location, and not roam to the “home” location.The only simple workaround I found was to temporarily disable the VPN connection, and restart the controller so it would find the local Sonos network and “forget” the remote Sonos network.Frankly, Sonos should give you control over which network you’re looking at - as Ring and Nest do (which I also have in both locations).  Absent that, though...In basic terms, my setup includes Ubiquii Unifi switches and APs in both locations (highly recommended, but not necessary to t

For the last week, my Play:1 speakers have been falling out of sync. I only have two set up as a stereo pair and have tried multiple times to unpair and then re-pair them. When I go through this process, things work the way they are supposed to. After some time, though, they fall out of sync again. I submitted a diagnostic (1752032275). Any thoughts on what could be going on? I have had this pair for over 3 years and have had this issue occur a handful of times ... only to be fixed by unpairing and pairing again. In the past, it has only taken one time to go through this process and then everything works. Now it is continuously breaking down. Thank you! 

I brought my Sonos play one from the US to Thailand I reset it connected it to a new network and everything looked good. But it won’t play anything including radio, SoundCloud, audible, Amazon music. Nothing. Says unable to add track or the music is encoded incorrectly.  does that mean I cannot use it here or os there a trick to make it work?

Hi, checking if it still isn’t possible to bind speakers that aren’t L/R pairs. Saw several discussions from years ago but thought that surely by now the system can manage it?  My lounge has a beam, sub, and 2 Sonos ones that function as one. I want to add a play 1 in a different part of the same area to this ‘room’.  I know I can group them and set the tv not to ungroup automatically, but would prefer them to always be grouped and to share volume control, which is the most important thing.  Sonos, if we can’t do this now, please develop it… thanks! 

I have recently moved house and tried to set up my play 1 speaker. It says I need to connect to the “Sonos” temp network but when I select this it doesn’t connect to wifi, it goes to 4g. Then because it’s not connected to WiFi I can’t set it up. It says an option is to connect using an ethernet cable so I plugged it in to this. It works fine when plugged in with the cable but then doesn’t work when I remove it from the cable. I want the speaker in a different room which is not close to the router so can’t keep it plugged in and it wasn’t plugged into a router in my old house and worked. How can I set it back up? 

Just bought new SL one speaker to pair with identical existing one. Simply can’t do it . Help?

Whilst playing about with m3u playlists, I’ve found an oddity with access to the music files.Background - for 9 years I’ve been using the same LG NAS for sonos, running 24x7 - i.e. no spin down. Having locked down the system and cut off from the internet, it works extremely reliably.I set up a directory outside the Sonos one, to take some of the strain from the main directory, which is indexed by Sonos. m3u8 playlists in Sonos pointing to the additional directory seem to work fine.However, if I leave the playlist on pause for a period - e.g. overnight - then when I press play again all the files in the queue fail to play with an access denied error. If I clear the queue and set up the playlist again, it works perfectly.The NAS is fairly basic, and I’ve been through every setting on it looking for a reason why access should time out, but can’t find one. I can understand why it would always fail, or always succeed, but this seems odd - it’s almost as if Sonos is forgetting/losing access
