ARC + One SL Surrounds Disconnect

  • Wireless 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz a/n/ac/ax (WiFi 6)

Issue

The Sonos Arc with Sonos One SL as surrounds disconnected after firmware update to 12.2. Unable to add Sonos One SL as surrounds to Sonos Arc after firmware update.

Observations

  • Sonos One SL flash white after firmware update, and Sonos Arc show question marks (?) for surrounds
  • Sonos One SL can be added to the S2 app after factory reset.
  • Sonos One SL fail to be added as surrounds after being setup in the S2 app as regular speakers.
  • Sonos One SL fail to setup as surrounds after factory reset.
  • Removing Surrounds from Sonos Arc requires Sonos SL to be factory reset to discover

Steps taken to troubleshoot

  • Rebooted Sonos System
  • Rebooted wireless access points
  • Remove surrounds from Sonos Arc
  • Add surrounds to Sonos Arc failed
  • Reset Sonos One SL to factory reset
  • Add Sonos One SL as individual speaker first, then add as surrounds failed
  • Change room for entire setup
  • Disabled Protected Management Frames on wireless
  • Disabled BSS Transition on wireless

hi @cgrey001 I had a similar problem after the update to 12.2. IMO there is a sort of bug in Sonos App now that some devices can work with Wi-Fi 5GHz… I share with you what happened to me and how I fixed it.

I had an Zyxel Access Point with 2 antennas (2.4Hz and 5GHz), the wi-fi name was the same for both (let’s say “WIFI-HOME”). Before the update everything was working smoothly (1ARC+2Sonos1 and 2 Sonos 3). But after the update things started to crush.

After testing and testing I found out that ARC was connecting to the Wi-Fi with 5GHZ and the rest of devices with 2.4GHZ. So I ended up creating 2 wi-fi networks (“WIFI-HOME-5G” and “WIFI-HOME-2.4”) and forcing SONOS to connect to the 2.4GHz. That did the trick, everything was back to normal.
