What to get

In my sitting room I have a pair of PLAY:3s and a SUB, which together stand one of my rooms called MAIN. So: MAIN = SUB + PLAY:3 + PLAY:3 (stereo, wireless) I also have other rooms in my apartment with other speakers, mostly PLAY:1s. Now, I am planning to buy and install in my sitting room a TV and a PLAYBAR. And here come the questions: 1. If I simply connect the PLAYBAR to TV, is it possible that this setup is displayed as an independent room in Sonos App, for example called "TV"? In other words, is it possible to have the PLAYBAR be controlled by the TV when I watch TV and by Sonos App when I want to stream some audio? 2. Is it possible to somehow conveniently group PLAYBAR and MAIN, to be either controlled by TV set or by Sonos App? To better explain my questions, I would ideally like to have the following possibilities: a) To listen to my existing MAIN controlled by Sonos App (no PLAYBAR involved) b) To listen to my existing MAIN + PLAYBAR, controlled by Sonos App (

Hello, i'm going to buy a pair of Play:5 to set an Stereo system, my doubt is, if i want to buy a turntable, it needs preamp? Or can i connect an Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC directly to one of the Play:5? I want to buy a One/Play1 but I DON'T want Alexa built in, call me old fashioned but I am uncomfortable with the concept of a microphone constantly listening to every word said in a room. Which one do I need or are they only now available with Alexa built in/?

Hi, Am about to buy a sonos system with 3 components throughout the house. I’d like for the system to improve the tv sound, and be able to connect by cable to our existing stereo. I’m hoping that doesn’t require buying both a Playbase and a Connect? My question is- can a playbase be used interchangeably to play sound off the TV and a stereo, when the cable is moved between the devices? I know moving the cable back and forth would be a bit inconvenient, but the stereo use would be infrequent (to be able to play CDs without having to go though uploading them as don’t currently have computer). Both the tv and stereo have the same input jack (on stereo it says ‘Digital Optical’ and on the TV ‘Digital Audio’ but I understand they are the same as TV manual says the TV does Digital Optical, and they look the same). So I’m hoping the system could be- 1 Playbase and 2 Play1s Or does it sound like I’d need- 1 Playbase, 1 Connect and 1 Play1? Many thanks, Nerys

I ordered a multiroom Sonos setup including a connect to get the whole home music experience. I spent a lot of money, and I spent it on Sonos because by all accounts it’s supposed to be the best wireless multiroom solution. All I see on this forum is page after page of dropping speakers, connection issues, play lists that won’t play, rooms that disappear randomly, and music services that won’t music. My system arrived today and I will pick it up tomorrow. Dear lord I sure hope I didn’t make a huge expensive mistake. I want this to be an easy seemless experience, but I’m more than a bit worried now. My technology disabled wife is going to be using this system. She has trouble with a microwave.

Hi there! I am going to be putting in a new sonos system to replace an existing bose setup in our resturaunt (not satisfied with the bose's sound). The space it about 35 feet wide, by 20 feet long. What speakers would you recommend installing for this space? I was thinking of 2 play 5's, and 2-3 play 1's? Thanks for your input!

Hi There - I recently bought a new home, and there are about 8 brand new speakers pre-wired throughout the ceilings in each room. These all lead to a plate in my closet which houses all of the unconnected speaker wires (pic below). I'd like to avoid purchasing new speakers, because these are brand new and why wouldn't I just use them. Is there a SONOS (or comparable) product where I can connect the speaker wires and be able to easily control audio throughout my home? Thanks in advance!

Hi Sonos community, I have been bequeathed some records, but I don't have a record player. I would like to create a solution (involving Sonos) that allows me to play the records with minimal hardware/equipment. Based on my research and reading on this forum, I believe the simplest solution is that I need to buy: (1) a record player (turntable) that has a built-in pre-amplifier, and (2) a Sonos device that has an analog audio input (i.e., Sonos Line-in). For (2), it is my understanding that my options are PLAY:5, CONNECT, or CONNECT:AMP. The only twist is that I already have a PLAY:1, so I would also like to keep using that as well. Have I understood everything correctly? Is any option preferable? I would greatly appreciate any feedback or guidance. Thank you in advance.

Hi All, New to the forum, so nice to meet you all! We just finished some construction works to our house and I would like to get some Sonos stuff in the new kitchen, living area and outdoors. I asked my electrician to foresee audio cable in all zones as we were going to use in-ceiling speakers. He did this, but now that all works are finished, I noticed, he only gave me 1 'end point' per zone, meaning he has foreseen wires from speaker 1 to speaker 2 to speaker 3 to speaker 4 in zone 1. Did the same in zone 2 for the 2 speakers over there and did the same in zone 3 for the 2 outdoor speakers. This makes think a bit on how my ideal setup could work. Initially I was thinking to buy 3 connect amp devices to create the 3 zones, but it appears I don't have a 'left' and 'right' per zone as foreseen on the connect amp, so am I wondering if I would really need 3 connect amp's or if that setup even won't work at all? I have Sonos at home and in a holiday (vacation) home, but I am not up to date with the technology. I want to buy a Sonos One or Play 1 as a Christmas gift for someone. However, their router is not in a convenient position for a Sonos device, so I'd like to know if the ONE and the Play 1 need a direct Ethernet connection? Is a Sonos Bridge needed? If so that is making it quite expensive. And a general question. All other things being equal, would a Play 1 or ONE be a better choice? As far as I can tell their sound quality is the same but the latter comes with in-built Alexa, for about 50 GB pounds more. Thanks

Hi all, I’m new to Sonos (just got a Play:1), having used Airplay through amps and separate speakers for years. I’m impressed with the sound for such a small speaker. Long story short, for various reasons I can’t get separate speakers set up easily in my current living space, and the most convenient set-up in my long open-plan downstairs living space (~12m x 4m) would definitely be a Playbase at one end under the TV and the Play:1 at the other end in the kitchen. The dining room is in the middle, and with Trueplay the Play:1 is already projecting quite well into it. I don't currently have any soundbar/base for TV. I listen to far more music than I watch TV, and I listen to practically every genre of music there is. I am not an “Audiophile” / AV “enthusiast” per se, but I'm not a total philistine and I do like to listen to and hear my music, rather than just have it as background noise. My question is, how good is the Playbase for music and do you think the Playbase so

My wife and I just got two Sonos Ones and set them up as a stereo pair. I would like to connect my turntable (and preamp) to the Sonos system, but don't want to spend $350 on a connect. A neighbor is selling his used Play 5 (first gen) at a pretty reasonable price. If I buy it, will I have any trouble connecting the turntable to it, and will I be able to connect it to the Ones wirelessly?

Hi all. Been using multiple Sonos items for couple of years. I build apartments and put Sonos into them. We currently put Ceiling Speakers in and then use a connect:amp for the customer to power up and use Sonos. Can I do this but instead of a connect:AMP use the cheaper version connect? thanks

Please help, please!....I am shortly to be purchasing a Sonos Play 1 for a Christmas present, and am totally lost with everything I have read thus far. Really, desperately basic please - can I buy this as a standalone speaker with no other Sonos equipment? Is this worth it? Main point...is the ethernet connection required solely to connect the speakers initially and not required beyond that initial set up? Hi, I'm close to taking plunge into the world of Sonos but have been doing some reading this afternoon and found myself unsure if my TV is compatible with the Playbar that I was looking to buy. My plan was to start by purchasing a Playbar and a Sonos:One and then add more speakers over time. I'm mainly after multiroom streaming capability. I have an existing LG Soundbar and Sub-Woofer (http://www.lg.com/au/sound-bars/lg-NB4540) connected to my TV (a Sony KDL-55W800B - http://www.sony.com.au/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs/kdl-55w800b/specifications) and would look to replace with the Playbar. Hi all - Recently moved into a new apartment and have a large room that's both living room and dining room, and looking to setup a full Sonos system. It's about 350 sq ft total (~25 ft x 14 ft). Would really appreciate recommendations. Here's what I'm looking for overall: - great sound for the TV (have a 60" TV currently on a stand - it's plasma so fairly heavy. Not looking to mount currently unless I must). Currently use an Xbox One as main set top device for streaming media (I don't use cable). - sound for both living area dining area for music - I'd stream Spotify to this from devices and also have a U-turn Basic turntable w/ preamp built in In terms of networking equipment, I currently have the Netgear CM1000 modem and Orbi RBK50 router (keeping primary in this area, satellite is in other part of the apartment).
