What to get

I am a newbie with limited understanding of connecting a sound system looking for advice. Recently moved into a house with four wired ceiling speakers that now have wires hanging out of my wall above my mounted tv not connected to anything. The previous owner took the rest of his sound system (amp, etc). I’m looking to add a Sonos surround system connected to my tv while utilizing the existing ceiling speakers. 1. Can the new Sonos Amp connect via HDMI to my tv and to the 4 ceiling speakers? The sound coming from the tv alone is weak for the room it’s in but probably will be enough once I connect the ceiling speakers. Is this a waste and would I get the same sound using a less expensive amp?  2. How would a Sonos Beam fit into the connections and would it be necessary? I would like the option of upgrading in the future which is why I’m drawn to Sonos. I use Alexa and Pandora and like the idea of having the option of adding wireless speakers to other rooms or even in the backyard one da

Does anybody know just HOW “improved” the DAC is in Port vs Connect? I’m considering adding a port to another system, but not if I’m going to end up feeling the need to run it through a better stand alone DAC like I do with the Connect.  

Hi all, I am currently in the market for some Sonos gear and am trying to work out what I need to get the most out of the current home theatre audio that I already have.My overall goal is to be able to output different audio to all zones in my house at the same time or any combination of groups.Current Set up:My home theatre currently has a Denon X1500 which is set to 5.1 and outputs to some polk audio fronts, bookshelfs and sub. The remaining two channels are set to “Zone2” and output audio to 2 outdoor Boston speakers.The input to the amp is currently Desktop Computer, Xbox, Playstation.Future Set up:I would like to add 2 Sonos Ones. 1 to the other living area/kitchen and the other to the study.I would also like to add a Sonos connect/port to the home theatre in order to pass music from the Sonos amp to the home theatre speakers. Hi, I have an open plan kitchen and living room. We want to put the ceiling speakers in for music mainly but also for television. We would also like the music to play into the garden so suggesting 2 external speakers on the outside wall. Hi, Here comes a sound noob question. I have a Sonos Amp connected to two Dali bookshelf speakers. I have now purchased a Dali sub. Do I connect the AMP to the subwoofer LFE bypassing the Bulut in crossover and using the Amps crossover or do I have to connect the subwoofer with a Y-Cable to the L/R input on the subwoofer. I have now connected the amp to the subwoofers LFE and it seems to work very well. Would there be an advantage in sound if I got a Y-cable to connect to the L/R-input on the subwoofer instead?

Hi!! We've purchased and old home and are doing some work on it. I'd love to set up multiroom audio basically just for background music, and occasional entertaining. There are two main living rooms connected by a oversized doorway (with no door -- it's open plan). When we eventually move in, the TV will be in the smaller room, above a fireplace (yes; I know!! I don't want to discuss the problems with this!!) because we don't want it right next to the children's rooms. The larger room will have a circular dining table at one end and a sitting/coffee table area at the other (not physically divided) as shown. For the TV I think we're going to go with some sort of soundbar with rear speakers. Given the issues with the Playbar's 5.1 optical input (most TV's don't seem to support it) I'm inclined to go with Samsung HW-Q90R as it both has better audio reviews and more reliable 5.1 input. I'm going to hate losing my genuine 5.1 setup, but I don't think it fits around the fireplace. In

Hi all, Hoping someone can help me out with a bit of mess up I've made recently. Basically we renovated a house which required a full rewire. For all media I've ran multipe CAT6 lines which will terminate to a patch in a server cupboard. In our TV Room, we've created a false wall which has a recess built to the size of the current TV we have. I didn't give any thought to audio at the time, I knew I needed some sort of speaker system in the TV room, so on the back wall I ran CAT6 to each corner with a power socket with the loose intention of putting a Sonos one in each corner. The mess up I've just realised is that in order for the Sonos One's to connect and play TV Audio, I need a sounbar also. Due to current design there's no way for me to do this. So my questions is can I put a Sonos Amp in my server cupboard and connect this to the tv via CAT6 in order for the two Sonos One's to work with the TV? Would of been so much easier if I could fit in a soundbar! Thanks everyone in ad

Hi All, I've been using a pair of Sonos One and love them. I wanted to add a sub to it but don't know if I can just add one or do I need to get an echo to make them work together. Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings - Newbie here, OK So I am not really looking for surround sound for TV (Which I think most posts tend to be about). I am fine with TC sound... But my old Denon Receiver does not have Bluetooth and has an old ipod dock that is not working.. and well its time to upgrade. I do have 2 Klipsch Ikon series speakers... but anyway looking for better sound then a $12 portable speaker. So need to outfit my bedroom (currently have Alexa - 1 tiny speaker) and my kitchen/great room. So my home has 1 large area for kitchen/dining room/ living room. 17 foot wood ceilings (And a loft upstairs). The living room /kitchen / great room is about 28 feet long by 22 feet wide (616 Square feet( and my master bedroom is about 15 by 16 (Plus a hallway leading to bathroom) so 240 sq feet+. So what do you recommend to play music off my iPhone or Alexa? Radio etc... Right now I have Amazon music and pandora - but that could change. So looking to enjoy music in great room and then in my bedroom

Hi all, I’ve been looking through the Sonos website and some forum posts and I’m still feeling very confused. I have a turntable and I already have a Sonos Beam and a Sonos One. I’m looking to find a way to play the turntable through those speakers. I believe the turntable has a phono preamp (from a listing for it: “It features a built-in switchable preamp, so it can used with a standard phono preamp or receiver with a phono stage, OR it can plugged straight into any aux or line input.”) Previously I have just been running it into a stereo system with the rca cables. I also don’t see anything “switchable” on it which confuses me as to whether or not I do not to buy a preamp (or if the “switchability” is internal?). Any help with what products/accessories I would need would be much appreciated! Thanks, Nick

I was really getting ready to IKEA to get some Bookshelf speakers until I came across some Sonos Play 1's for only $30 more. I know the 1's are older (and only slightly) more expensive but from what I've read they sound better than the bookshelves. I'm beginning to sway towards the 1's. What would you get?

Hi, after some views and opinions! I have a new kitchen extension being built in the coming months and I really want to have a nice audio solution. The space is open and reasonable large, looking for quality of sound for music as primary concern, this won’t be used for TV audio. I’ve got 1 Sonos amp already purchased and was looking at getting 2 pairs of the Sonos by Sonance in ceiling speakers. I went into richer sounds and the guy there threw a bit of a spanner in the works... his opinion was i could get a better setup for less by purchasing another Sonos amp and 2 sets of monitor audio in ceiling speakers. With the deal he could do I’d be saving about 200 pounds. the main points the guy raised was control of volume or switching speakers on/off in different parts of the kitchen. He also believed the sound quality would be better from MA speakers due to directional tweeters etc. He didn’t seem to think the Sonance speakers warranted the price tag... I haven’t heard either sets

If the objective is the most powerful SonosNet setup, can a wired Sonos One (Gen2) really be as good as a Boost (3 antennas 360 broadcast etc)? Does the Play One also have 3 antennas in ?

I want to add my partner to my Sonos account but be able to access his own music on his phone rather than just having access to my music.

I have 4 Play 1’s and a sound bar all working off my Bridge (which is hardwired to modem). System works fine, no drop outs etc. Do I have to upgrade to Boost? And you people all seem very smart & technical LOL. so I would appreciate answers in terms I can understand. I use the app on my iphone, iPad, or MacBook Air to run system. Thank you!

Just like to say you can easily play music from your iPhone on air play simple if you have .. was pissed when realised on phone ability to play music had gone 😁

Do the sonos1 have Poe or is it best just to use WiFi ?

Amp at main TV is going out at the main greatroom. I have Directv DVR, an Apple TV, Xbox connected to three speaker desk top type speakers, I have similar setup in tv area in lower level, TVs in master, and three guest rooms and in screened in room off master BR. I have a six zone Elan S6 controller /amplifier audio system with key pads, volume controls, and wired speakers in each zone and sub zones; main zone covers great room, kitchen, dining, entry, laundry room, one guest room and outside deck today I only run a 2nd Apple tv connected directly to Elan to stream my music. I need to replace my pioneer elite AVR but was thinking of integrating Sonos components so I could stream music service, music from my iTunes, and push main tv/ Apple TV sound to wired wall/ceiling speakers outside deck to deck. I was thinking of replacing rec/amp I have in lower level tv area at same time. Can i replace my AVR with Sonos amps at both locations and add a Sonos Port connected to the Elan system

Hello, I am currently building a home and would like to use Sonos as the brains of my audio for the home. I need some guidance as to what products I should be purchasing and how I should be laying things out. I will list the rooms, what type of speakers and what I hope to do with them. Originally I was thinking of wiring everything to one point in mech room and having an amp in the family room for tv. Not sure how many of each and what would be best for my use. All help and input is appreciated!! 2nd Floor Master Bathroom : In ceiling speaker (music only) Master Bedroom : 2 in ceiling speakers to play music and possibly tv audio Laundry Room : In ceiling speaker (music only) 1st Floor Family room: Play bar plus in wall speakers for surround if possible If I were to get an amp for this room would that amp have a delay when playing music from other sonos devices? I recently purchased a model home that included a Origin Acoustics Valet AV850 Distributed Audio Amplifier (OA). My previous house was stocked with SONOS Play Bars, Play Ones (gen1), Subs, and a connect so while I enjoy the OA capabilities I simply want to play the same music throughout the house rather than supporting two eco-systems and therefore two music streams. The OA currently works with Gen 2 Echo Dots. They talked about adjusting the ceiling mount for the gen 3 Echo Dot but never delivered. As for how it works, Ethernet cables run from each of the OAs four zones to ceiling mounted Echo Dots. The Ethernet cable goes into a OA dongle that contains one Ethernet out jack and one 3.5mm jack. Short connections from the dongle are made to the Echo dot. The Echo Dot gets powered via POE from the OA amplifier and sound from the Dot travels through the 3.5mm output back through the OA dongle and Ethernet cable into to the OA amplifier. I know this may seem like a strange comparison but I'm wondering if the IKEA bookshelf speaker is right for me. Currently I have a 5.1 system consisting of a Beam Sonos Ones and Sub. Eventually I plan to outfit all .y rooms with Sonos. I currently have the Google home in my bedroom and considering adding the IKEA bookshelf speaker or maybe a pair. My delima is the reviews on the bookshelf speaker. Many say the bass response is weak and rarely go into detail. How weak? Is worse than a Google Home Speaker which actually has a little thump to it but I'm willing to bet the IKEA is better. I'm not expecting room shaking bass or anything like that, just something better if even by a little than the Google Home. Anyone have an idea or experience with both of these speakers. Or Am I better off just getting another Sonos One. Your input (or anyone's) would be greatly appreciated.

This is probably mostly of interest to those in the UK, because that's where the prices are relevant. Consider this a pubic service announcement :) I had a spare Connect:Amp after buying one of the new Amps. It was sitting forlornly in its box, so I was looking for a pair of relatively compact and inexpensive speakers to partner it with, to return it to usefulness. I settled on a pair of Q Acoustics Concept 20s, and I ordered a pair without listening to them beforehand. (Yes, I know.) They arrived today, and I'm really, properly impressed with the sound quality of the resulting system. If I pre-odered Sonos Move on Sep 7 when can I expect to receive it? I check my order status and it just says back-ordered. When you order it says it will be delivered by Sep 24th. Am I to assume status will update soon and this will ship sometime before 9/24 and my CC will be charged sometime before 9/24 on the same day it ships? Thanks!!
