Voice control and smart home

I bought sonos beamI feel cheated for the price point i have givenBecause Alexa not supported in indiaSpotify noU can't use skills from Amazon Alexa appThen it's not a smart soundbarIt's just a barIndians should not buy itUnless untill sonos consider india as a potential customer    

I have a VPN set up in my home so I can remote in and. . . well, it's not really important what I'm using it for. Has anyone had any success connecting to their home VPN with a Sonos speaker? I would love to be able to buy one for my office and have it connect to my music library at home. Searching old posts did not see any queries about the matter before. Thanks.

Standard configuration. One with Alexa and SL coupled. Any time I try to play music with alexa the answare is the same, device is offline. I can play any music with sonos app.Anyone can help me ?Thanks

I’ve tried multiple times to connect my Sonos system to Apple Home on both my ipad and iphone and it always fails. Home is able to detect my Sonos system (Arc, Sub and surrounds) but when I select it, the Home app continually gives the error "Unable to  add accessory. Home couldn't connect to this accessory" I've tried resetting all my Sonos products and after that's complete, the error persists. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm able to Airplay to my Sonos system from an Apple device but I can't add to home to enable Siri. Google Assistant is hopeless in NZ and I've found Alexa is error prone. Siri just works so I'd like to connect to Apple Home. 

It has been yet another year with no support for this feature.  Any hints on if this is in development for Sonos or if it will be supported in the future?

I suspect this may have been discussed, but I will bring it up again as its something CI Dealers discuss on the regular, and a category which has been criminally neglected.Sonos really needs a 1U height, 17” wide 4 zone port with rack ears. It can easily retail for $1800, and Installers would use them every day of the week rather than stacking Ports with multiple ethernet cables, wall warts, etc.Stacking multiple Ports in a rack is a mess, even when you have a rack face. They look great in a Living room, or on a traditional hifi rack, but its ultimately a consumer level product, and an Installer friendly option is severely lacking.NAD has a great one for BluOS, and it just looks like a blank rack face. Same with Heos.Best part is, no retail cost savings are required. This would sell for $1800 all day long.

I am aware that currently Sonos’ Alexa Skill is not supported in Brazil. My question is: even though I know that Sonos skill wont work here, if I buy a Sonos Roam and use it in Brazil, will I be able to use it as a voice assistant device over here in portuguese? Use it, for instance, to turn on and off my air conditioner...

I recently noticed that the Sonos app for android is activating my microphone on my Samsung S21 when I launch it. FYI, I also have permission DENIED for Microphone in Sonos app setting.  NOTE: I have an app that senses when apps activate microphone or camera.  Please stop this behavior at ONCE!  I’m sure your users would not take kindly to SONOS listening in to their conversations whenever the Sonos app is running.

Yet another question about the availability of Google Assistant in Finland - but please bear with me. My mother tongue is Swedish (and every Finn learns Swedish, as it is our second official language). According to this support page, Google Assistant is available in Swedish through Sonos. So why wouldn’t this feature be available for all native Swedish speakers in Finland? It feels like an arbitrary restriction that just as well could be lifted for all Finns - most of us speak English as well, so even if you wouldn’t support the largest language here, it would still be beneficial to all Sonos users.Even if this was impossible, the frequent pop-up in the app to activate a voice assistant should be removed in all locations where this is not possible - currently if feels like you are showing your customers the middle finger.

When I initially set up my Sonos ONE Gen 2 speaker it worked absolutely fine. I then got a separate Sonos ONE but without the mic function in order to set up stereo sound.I'm not sure if it was since then or after but whenever I ask Google to play music from Spotify on my Sonos I have to initially ask it twice - Google will respond saying "ok, playing .... On Spotify" but then this is followed by silence until o repeat the command.Similarly, when I try to cast from Spotify, I will often choose a song which will start playing, then cast it to my speaker but then have to pause and play the song again before it starts playing.I don't know where the problem is, but I have noticed others have mentioned similar issues on these forums a year ago. I was hoping it would be a temporary bug but it has now been like this for almost a year.Any ideas? My Google mini works flawlessly (and has full Google assistant functionality) but I do think the Sonos speakers are better quality so would like to ge

Sometime ago now, Alexa stopped playing anything that was asked, but said it was going to play. Choose any radio station or specify, e.g. “Play Heart FM”, “Playing Herts/Beds/Bucks from Global Player”, then nothing.It seems this is a common occurence but nothing has resolved the issue so far. There is no issue weith my network, WiFi, cables, router, Firewall and so forth. I have tried off and on too. I have laso disable the Sonos skill and re-enabled, probably many other things too.  All with the same results. Someone somewhere knows what the fix is I am sure. For now I will gladly receive any suggestions.

So I set up Google Assistant on the Sonos Beam (check images) but it doesn’t matter what command I give to it, it says that it cannot find my devices.For example, if I ask, turn the Living Room Light On, it says it can’t find it.Even with Apple Music, if I ask to play something on apple music, it says that it can’t do that. It’s as if it’s a separate device not connected to my home but it can respond to general web requests (what’s the weather, what’s my name, etc).Is this expected behavior or is it supposed to behave as any other Google Assistant device in my home? I can’t use this assistant in its current state. 

Hi, I am hoping someone has already experienced this problem and can offer some help. I am moving my IOT onto a vlan slowly. I have moved Alexa on to 192.168.2.x which is isolated from my main network 192.168.1.x.The integration between Alexa and SONOS has stopped working, ok this is probably because it cannot see the SONOS devices, attempts to delete and re-install Alexa and SONOS integrations have worked but Alexa cannot discover the SONOS and in the Beam enabling Alexa works up to the point of logging into the Alexa account with the error “There was a problem adding Alexa, try again”. Useful information ! I thought it might be I need to open some ports in the firewall to allow local Alexa to talk to SONOS but then Alexa can see my Hive and Home Assistant networks and they are still  on 192.168.1.x. Anyone got any suggestions, other than moving SONOS to the 192.1.68.2.x network as I cannot shift SONOS yet because the music library is also still on 192.168.1.x.  Thanks 

Hii currently have two Sonos Sl ones as a stereo pair at the end of a long room. I wanted to add a voice control speaker at the other end. Initially I just wanted it completely separate to the two other speakers (ie just as a stand alone speaker for radio while in the kitchen). however now I’m wondering if I could link all three together to play the same thing. would a Sonos Sl one smart speaker do this for me? Ie would I be able to ask that speaker to play a radio station and hear it across all three speakers in the same room. (I don’t mind unpairing the stereo element of the other two if that’s what needs to happen?) anyadvice welcome on how best to do this. thanks

Greetings, Does Sonos Amp show up as a Google Home speaker?    I have wired ceiling speaker pairs installed in my kitchen and am thinking of getting a  Sonos Amp to power them for streaming music.  The kitchen has a Google Home and I would like to set the Sonos Amp as the ‘Default music speaker’. This when I ask the Google Home to play music, it’ll play on the Kitchen ceiling speakers via the Sonos Amp. I have a Sonos Arc and it does show up as a Google Home speaker that I can bind to a Google Home as the default speaker for music. Does Sonos Amp do the same?

Running a stereo pair of ones, set up for Alexa. Can both mics be left on, or can only one be used? Thanks!OB

Just tried the new Alexa “move my music” features outlined here — https://gadgets.ndtv.com/apps/news/amazon-alexa-move-audio-music-echo-devices-update-2600004/amp of course as soon as I try it, Alexa replies:“NOT SUPPORTED ON SONOS” is this feature going to be added?   I’m getting awfully close to selling my 8 Sonos Ones and just getting echo devices!!

I really cannot believe, how much we as sonos speaker owner’s spend to get mediocre service, at best. The inflexibility of this company will be its demise. There are a number of companies that make comparable products for half the price and with far more functionality then these speakers, so why would we continue to pay so much for a gloried stupid speaker?  I cannot even connect these stupid lead weights to my TV… is not that what any good home theater system should offer as a minimum? Does anyone else feel the same way? Any Suggestions without having to invest another dime into these speakers?

I've owned two Sonos ones for 3 years now and I can not get the two to play music via alexa. It simply doesn't work. Countless attempts, no real answer from Sonos on it. I've grouped them together as a group in alexa app (the preferred speaker option for both speakers isn't there anymore, can only select one of the speakers or built in speaker) and it still won't work.It's like it's not compatible despite saying it is. I love the Sonos products for their audio quality but voice integration is very poor and poorly advertised as alexa compatible. I know you can't link alexa products with Sonos in a group but can't understand why the Sonos groups won't work. If anymore has ever got this working I would love to know how, as it just seems like I'm banging my head against a wall. Thanks

I'm trying (and failing) to get my Alexa-enabled Sonos One to play music through my other Sonos speakers (six in all). I've set up a group on the Alexa app (whole house), added devices (all Sonos speakers), added my Alexa device (Sonos One), selected “always” so I don't have to specify each room … and when I ask Alexa to play music it only plays on my Sonos One, the rest of the speakers are silent.I've seen lots of references to setting a preferred speaker but can only find this option on the Sonos One settings and my choices are either “built-in speaker" or, under wifi speakers, my Sonos speaker in the Living Room. The option “Let Alexa choose: Alexa will select speakers in the Whole house ...” is greyed out. Clicking on “Learn more" tells me to go to Devices, select the group I want to change, go to the Preferred Speaker section - and that's where I get stuck, I can't find the Preferred Speaker section.Can anyone help, please. Is there a reason why Alexa does not support in SG? And while people can play Apple Music using Google Assistant in other devices, Sonos does not have it!

HiI have a number of Gen 2 and Gen 1 devices. As a number of my gen 1 devices are fine, I refuse to just scrap them to move to the full app.Up until recently, everything was working fine. I have been using the gen 1 app and have both gen 1 and 2 items working fine.  3 of the gen 2 items had alexa integrated in them.Then over the weekend for some reason my sonos app lost all my devices bar 1.  A quick power reset didn't work so I had to manually reset and connect them again (pain). Now I have all the items back, but I can't get Alexa working on the 3 devices.When I go to add the voice control in the gen 1 app I keep getting a “there was a problem adding alexa” issue. The voice contol button on the sonos devices won't turn on and I can't enable the voice control.I've tried deregistering all the devices on Amazon, deleting the skills in Alexa, but still have the same issue.  The fact that the Alexa app can connect to them tells me that its an issue on the Sonos side.Has anyone any ideas o
