Voice control and smart home

According to Amazon that's the case. So i did a chat with Amazon support since the Sonos One is not finding my Phillips Hue lights (which work fine with the Dot)... Can someone from Sonos weigh in on this? If i can't entirely replace my Dot with the Sonos One then it's going to get sent back. Quite simply my Sonos One doesn't find my hue lights, but if i plug the Dot back in it disovers them fine, and they can be controlled via the One. If i unplug the Dot the lights become unreachable. All other smart home devices are ok. I don't want to make this post too wordy, but i've done all the troubleshooting i can think of, inculding removing and re-adding voice services which i saw in another post. I have removed the Dot from my Alexa account, leaving just the One, still no joy. My lights are using the v1 Hue Bridge in case that matters Thanks

Does anyone know if the newly announced Amazon Echo Sub will be able to pair with Sonos speakers via Airplay 2? More specifically, I have a Playbase, One and a Play: 5 (gen 2) that I use to play music (via Airplay 2 rather than the Sonos app). Seeing as the Amazon Echo Sub will connect via WiFi, can this be added into the group via Airplay 2? Admittedly, the Echo Sub will be no way great in comparison to the Sonos Sub, however, at the price tag it's surely going to win the hearts of anyone who doesn't want to fork out £700 on the Sonos Sub.

Hi,I live in Germany and was about to order 2 x Sonus One until I read that "Voice control for Sonos is not supported in your country, yet" Looking at the threads I am left confused. So my questions are (1) can I use my Amazon Germany account and still speak English to Alexa? (2) what functionality is missing from typical Amazon dot product (3) when will google assistant be supported and will that allow me full music control plus other google services? All was working fine, until this week when Alexa announced that it was starting a free trial to Amazon Music. I don't want one, but it didn't give me an option to argue it, so I moved on. After that, Alexa will play anything on the dot, but won't transfer Spotify to the Sonos One. It'll pause, control volume on the Sonos, but not start it - I have to start it via my phone. Nothing to say that the Amazon Music trial kicking in and Spotify stopping working is related - but it's a rather large coincidence. Default music service is set to Spotify. I've done every bit of deauthorising, resetting, skill disabling, etc etc etc. It's really boring.

Alexa does not recognise my location, any ideas on how to get to to work? If I ask what the weather is Alexa says set up location in settings. In the settings on the Alexa ap and on the alexa desktop it see's each device twice i.e. P's Sonos 1 and Bedroom, P's Sonos Beam and Lounge. The location is saved in the Sonos device but will not save in the room. What do I need to do to get Alexa to recognise my location?

We’ve been using Apple home kit for the past year which has been ok but Siri isn’t amazing and in responsive at times. So the release of the beam with AirPlay and Alexa gave us the opportunity to try something else. However, it seems that Alexa is extremely lacking. It seems to require very specific instructions “Alexa, turn on all the living room lights” returns an error saying it can’t find a device with that name, where’s “Alexa, turn on living room lights” works. I would say around 70% of commands are met with an error. Frustratingly Alexa keeps telling me there are no audio devices and it cannot take audio commands? Is that the same experience for others a) with Alexa on any platform b) with Alexa on Sonos Beam

Spoitfy linked correctly. All was working fine till today. Alexa will not play what i ask from my spotify. If i ask it to play a certain playlist it say "i cannot find playlist in your music library. Spotify has been set as default. I may as well of bought trhe play bar and used the sonos app as alexa clearly does not work as intended on your devices.

Need help with connecting Alexa Echo to Sonos (Play 1 and PlayBar)

I have a Sonos One with Alexa. Recently (August 1st) several local radio stations left TuneIn Radio and went to Radio.Com. I added Radio.Com to Sonos. For several days I was able to ask Alexa to play a particular station on Radio.Com, and it would play. Recently when I would ask her to play a station on Radio.Com she would first say something to the effect of "I see that you have Radio.com, would you like to open it? After saying "Yes" she would ask for the station and after I gave the Call Letters, it would start playing. Now, however within the past couple of days, she will say "Playing KRLD on Radio.com", then there is silence. Nothing plays. I have tried different Radio.com stations with the same result. She always says "Playing XXXX on Radio.com, but then nothing plays. Yet, I can go to my Sonos app and it shows that it is connected to Radio.com but nothing is playing on any of my Sonos speakers, including the Sonos One with Alexa. External apps/services (e.g. IFTTT) can be given access to my Sonos system: "This gives XXXX permission to: See what your Sonos is playing Change playback and volume on your Sonos Change your Sonos rooms and groups Play your Sonos favorites and playlists" But how do I revoke the access to my Sonos system when I no longer want IFTTT to access it? I have read different places online, claiming that the Sonos One will get Google Assistant, meaning you can say stuff like "Ok Google" directly to the Sonos One speaker, without the need of a Google Home speaker. I originally though, Sonos only was going to support Google Assistant so that you can say "Ok Google play xxx on Sonos" to your Google Home speaker, and the Sonos speaker will be able to do so. Which scenario is the correct one?

My SONOS Beam is connected to my VIZIO TV. Whenever I tell Beam to turn on my TV it’s on a different source than what it was when the TV went off. How do I fix this or does Beam change sources via Alexa?

on a few occasions I have been caught out by my Play 5s coming on stupidly loud when I get Alexa to play something. It would be nice to have a default startup volume that doesn't blow your head off!

Please can someone tell me how to link my Sonos Beam to my Amazon Fire TV Stick? I have tried following these instructions (https://support.sonos.com/s/article/2656?language=en_US) but at point 4 after choosing the Fire TV Stick, I find that there is no "Alexa-enabled Sonos speaker" (or anything else) in the list of Alexa devices. I note from this link (https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202174250) that "To link your Alexa and Fire TV devices, they must be registered to the same Amazon account." Originally the Fire TV Stick was registered to me and the Beam was registered to my wife. At first the "Sonos Beam", the "Lounge", and "This Device", each showed up twice in the Alexa App on my phone. One instance of the Beam had my wife's name against it, and I have managed to remove it using the blue Deregister link. I trust that this means that both devices are now registered to my account but I am not sure! In addition I am puzzled by the duplicate entrie

I assume that this is as a result of the 8.2.2 update as I had set my device location within the Alexa App but now it is missing and I'm not able to set it up again. Things I've tried: - Forget the device within the PC Alexa app, followed by Discover; - Delete the device within the Android app, followed by Discover. - Power down the Sonos One and retry steps 1 & 2 The end result is the same - When I enter the Alexa App>Settings>My Sonos One>Device Location>Edit followed by Save and then select the Suggested Address, Ok - the details are not saved. Interestingly, if I ask the Sonos One 'Alexa, what's todays weather' it knows it's location.

Short version: a podcast skill called AnyPod which I use all the time on my Echo Dot isn't working on my new Sonos One, and as a new Sonos user I'm not sure if there's a problem or it's just not actually supposed to work. So today I got my Sonos One, I set it up, all seems to be working, I can ask it to play music and that's fine, I can ask for radio stations and it works, it controls my heating and the TV just like my Echo Dot, awesome. Then I try to get it to play a podcast I've been listening to. I'm about halfway through the back catalogue so the built in Alexa podcast feature via TuneIn is a pain (only plays the most recent episode). I use a skill called AnyPod which lets you subscribe to podcasts, specify an episode number to play, and it remembers where you got to. So I say "Alexa, tell AnyPod to play Reply All". I have a Sonos one and a Echo I want to play the same music on both speakers. Its all setup (Sonos skills) but Alexa can't see my Sonos in multi room. Do i need a echo dot and connect it with a lead to my Sonos ?

I was really excited to get a sonos one for Christmas to create surround sound with a play:1 and play:bar, only to find out that they’re not compatible for surround sound (you must use two play:1 units or two sonos one units, but not one of each). I’ve heard the reason is aesthetics (the one and 1 look slightly different), but speakers are meant to be heard, not seen. I go to great lengths to hide all my speakers. I’m really disappointed in Sonos. Planning to return my $199 worthless sonos one and buy an additional play:1 and an echo for less money. Pathetic move on Sonos’ part.

Great sounding product and managing your library and music is easy. Now why not make a complete interface for Crestron and other home control systems so that you can actually expand your market? The interaction between your product and Crestron is really crippled and lame. Don't be like MS and Apple and try to protect your IP by inconveniencing your customers and making them look for other choices.

Hi, I have bought a couple of Sonos One's. The big question is if i can avoid Echo dots etc completely. And only use Sonos One's for controlling Ex. Harmony Hub, Philips Hue etc.?

I have a Sonos one in the bedroom and when asked Alexa plays an album. I then go into the kitchen and ask alexa on an echo dot to play a different album on my two play ones , the music starts but it turns off the music in the bedroom ? Any ideas please

I have had my Sonos Beam for a couple of months now and it has all been working fine, and songs requested have played okay. Yesterday my partner requested a radio station to be played, Alexa used the TuneIn service. Ever since we have been unable to hear songs from Amazon Music Unlimited. I ask Alexa to play them and she says they will start playing but there is no music. Ever since I have been trawling this forum trying to find a solution, but nothing has worked I have tried all 3 reset options on this forum post with no improvement https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/alexa-says-she-is-playing-on-kitchen-but-no-sound-comes-out-6800126 I can confirm we have no duplicate names for devices and the Amazon Music services are added correctly We do have a Sonos One in the bedroom, but that was unplugged before the issue started and we have not plugged it in since. Purchased a Sonos One to use with Amazon Alexa and have discovered that although I can listen to my favourite radio station, when I ask the Alexa to sleep after any number of minutes, and it acknowledges, the Sonos does not turn off. This feature works perfectly with the Amazon Echo and Dot (which I also own). I have spoken with support who say that this feature is not currently supported however, as a result, I cannot keep the Sonos in my bedroom (where I bought it for), as I wake up every night now with the radio on in the background (which I don't want). Does anyone have a fix or does anyone know IF Sonos are working on resolving this as they don't have any way of checking via the technical helpdesk nor can they automatically inform me when it does become available.

Hi im new to Sonos, just purchased a beam, two ones and a sub. Is it possible to add the Phillips Hue to thew system without the hue bridge? Thanks Daniel
