I just put Vipre Advanced Security on my Windows 10 computer and the firewall is blocking Sonos. I know that’s true because when I turn off the Firewall the app works. Please don’t refer me to the article 688 on the Sonos site. It does NOT address Vipre and is no help with Vipre. I suspect I need someone who ran into the same problem and solved it to help.
Finally after a long time of contemplation I finally pulled the trigger on a Sonos Amp. Got a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 semi-vintage bookshelves (released 21 years ago and discontinued). Paired the Sub.Now I've owned high-end HT sets a decade ago but I've never owned a close-range stereo setup. I must say I am heavily impressed. I sit 2m from speakers and they are also 2m apart. The sound stage is insane. The imaging is incredible. Instead of localizing sound coming from a bar the sound is infront of you on an imaginary stage. The phantom center works flawlessly. Movie mixes are downmixed perfectly and it's as if there is a center channel. I'm not sure how that would work with wide seating arrangement though. Another nice thing is the added options in the app with the Amp. L-R balance and Sub crossover. Finally I can decide how high the Sub will play. The only minus in this setup for me is no TruePlay. The speakers sound incredible and I don't see any room correction necessity. But
Having owned Sonos speakers and a Playbar for years, I jumped into purchasing a Roam as a portable option. Sadly, I will be returning it - this product is nowhere near the point where “it just works”. My observations which may be of interest:As others have noted, unless it gets turned completely off it just keeps waking up and draining the battery (quickly). As a portable option it isn’t something I want to use every day but I also don’t see why it should need to be completely powered down each time. Charging with a low power typical phone adapter doesn’t work very well. Not necessarily a problem as I have other options, but sometimes it has worked and sometimes it hasn’t so it is clearly unreliable and doesn’t fill me with confidence. Because it needs to be powered off properly, after switching it on it sometimes takes more than 5 minutes to appear as a Room choice in the app - that is useless if I just want to quickly start using it. This is the main reason I am returning it - that w
Roam become veryhot when use under Bluetooth mode, normal?
Not a major issue, but the Rova Service “station” picture displayed against Sonos Favorite stations is missing from the latest Win10 V2 Controller (13.1.2). It displayed OK with previous versions of the Win10 controller and also appears fine on the current IOS V2 controller (13.1.2) for I-Pad or I-Phone.Ross.
Hi,I just ordered the home theater setup. My question is I think I under ordered. Would you recommend two gen 3 subs with the 5’s for the rear? Versus 1 sub and the one sl ‘s in the rear. Also would you recommend the amp for that. What can I do to maximize my Sonos experience. thank you 😊
Hi can anyone tell me how to tune my Sonos system please ? I have hearing problems and need to turn down the base and up the treble ? The sound seems distorted to me ! I can’t find any buttons and am not good with technology! Lol
Ordered my Amp June 5th, they are saying august for it to be shipped. Has anyone experienced the order coming earlier? I am just curious as to what kind of timeline everyone else is getting. Thanks in advance!
I am considering replacing my current home stereo system with a Sonos system. I have turntable connected to the stereo, as well as wired outdoor speakers. Also, I use an Amazon Echo in my kitchen. I currently have small wall mounted speakers and a subwoofer connected to the stereo. Finally, I have a large amount of music on a Mac computer (connected to our home network), that I would like to able to access and stream in addition to the typical radio, Spotify/Pandora, and online content. So, here are my requirements:1.) Play my vinyl collection, via the turntable, through the Sonos system.2.) Access and stream from the music collection on my Mac3.) Play music on outdoor Sonos speakers4.) Have a voice activated Sonos speaker in my kitchen5.) Mount wall mounted speakers in a separate roomBasically, I would like to duplicate my existing setup, be able to play vinyl through the new system, and be able to play music on a set of outdoor speakers. In addition, somehow be able to play mu
Hey guys, I have the Sonos arc, 2 gen 3 subs, and a pair of one sl’s… my question is I have the one sl mounted on the wall with the power cable ran through the wall, I would like to upgrade to the Sonos 5s for more surround sound… are the power cables from the one sl interchangeable with the Sonos 5s??? This way it could be just a simple swap… thanks everyone
I’ve recently bought a Sonos Roam speaker, when I try to link it to my Sonos speakers, I keep being told I need to update the app, and when I try over and over again, I’m told it’s not working. I’ve traced this to the fact I still use a Sonos bridge for my original Sonos 5 speaker which I still use via the Sonos 1 app. My other speakers are used via the Sonos 2 app and this is the app I am trying to link the Sonos Roam to but it still comes back saying update the app and then says it can’t update because of the Bridge ( which I obviously don’t use on the Sonos 2 app). I feel like I’m going round in circles. Can anyone help me please as I have a brand new speaker now which I can’t use!
Hi,I use simple setup for music and TV audio: Apple TV 4k → Samsung TV → Sonos AMP (S2) → HiFi speakers 2.1.I am using HDMI ARC for interconnection as neither my older TV or Sonos AMP support newer HDMI eARC standard. As now Apple Music received support for lossless audio (24-bit/48 kHz on Apple TV for time-being), I started to wonder if I have any quality bottlenecks in my setup because of HDMI ARC. In the Sonos app, Sonos system info I can only find such info:Audio In: Stereo PCM 2.0. PCM means uncompressed audio, but what is its resolution, what is sampling rate? I searched for information on HDMI ARC capabilities in the internet and at best I found articles as this one (https://www.tomsguide.com/us/hdmi-arc-faq,news-26262.html). All those articles have included the same table that shows comparison between TOSLINK, ARC and eARC. In that table it is stated that HDMI ARC audio pass through can have max ~1Mbits/s. If that is true, I am concerned. 1Mbits/s is not so much for uncompresse
I’m considering paying for the Sonos radio subscription. I already pay for ITunes streaming. I like the Sonos stations. My one hesitation is that there doesn’t appear to be a way to listen to Sonos radio outside of my house. Is there an app that would allow me to access my subscription while on the road?
I own a sonos beam and gen 3 sub. I also have a turntable and receiver hooked up to listen to albums with headphones. I want to play albums to speakers, too. I see two options: A sonos port to play on my existing sonos speakers, or add a Play5. If I added a play 5, can I pair my sub with both my beam and a play 5? Is the Play5 stereo? Which is the better option: the port or the Play5. The difference in cost seems négligeable and another speaker seems like clutter when I have a great speaker system already.
If you bought you Arc online from Sonos, when did you order it and when did you finally receive it? I ordered mid July and the anticipated ship date was July 24. Now, the anticipated ship date for new orders is mid August. I am wondering which order dates are currently being delivered. Thanks
Hi,Any advice would be appreciated. I am currently having an extension which will have 3 separate areas but all open plan. A Family/dining room, Kitchen & then seating area. About 40 square meters in total. My plan was to have 1 speaker in the family room, 2 in the kitchen as very high ceiling and 1 in the seating area all hooked up to one amp. Would I be able to create 3 separate zones so I can turn off speakers? For example I was hoping to be able to turn off the family room if the kids are in bed and we’re in the kitchen and seating area. Thanks in advance,Sid
Can I use a beam (connected to a TV), with an Amp powering surrounds and a third party sub off the amp?
I have Media source: Apple TV (3rd Gen) Video Player: Optomo UHD52ALV Projector connected through HDMI from Apple TVAudio: Sonos Playbar (set up as surround sound with sub + 2 Sonos One) and Connected through Optical cable from Apple TV When I play Netflix on Apple TV and choose audio English [Original] (5.1) or Amazon Prime to choose a movie with “Dolby Digital Plus” The Sonos app shows the Audio IN as “Stereo PCM 2.0” in both cases.Checked Sonos App for System Update and shows “Your Sonos system is up to date”.Bought this audio splitter https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07JDGBBXF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and cant get the 5.1.Is this even possible?
As anyone used one of the many automation apps on Android to toggle the TV Autoplay setting?I have a Playbase set up in a 5.1 setting. Since the Playbase only has an optical in I connect my components to my TV and then run the audio to the Playbase. Since my TV controls my input device I leave my Sonos set to “TV Autoplay”. That way if I’ve been listening to music through the Sonos App it automatically shuts off and switched back to the TV input whenever I turn on the TV. Works great! But, sometimes when I’m gaming I prefer to continue to listen to music through the Sonos app and that means I have to tap SYSTEM, then MY ROOM, then scroll down, then turn off TV AUTOPLAY. And I have to repeat this when I’m finished gaming so as to avoid the rath of my wife when she tries to watch TV and doesn’t get any audio.I’d like to use Tasker, or Automate, or IFTTT, or some other tool to set up a one tap item on my phone to complete all of the steps to toggle this setting thereby hopefully makin
Hey everybody,As a music & home theater set-up: I currently have the Sonos Amp + 2x Boston Acoustic VR2 floor-standing speakers.I also have 2x Sonos Fives as the Surrounds, and 2x Sonos Subs connected. It’s an awesome set-up as is! I started with the Arc (instead of the Amp) + 2x Fives + 2x Subs and loved the sound quality, but needed more ‘oomf’ and energy from the front of the room since I’m used to a traditional 5.1 set-up with floor-standing speakers. Now that I’ve transitioned to the Amp, I love the volume; but I’m missing that high fidelity sound, immersive effect, and subtlety in instruments the Arc had (when coupled with the Fives and Subs). My primary use case is music and the Amp shines with music. The Arc did too, though it had to be turned up considerably to feel that energy. But it was great when turned up because you could hear every individual instrument around the room. Feel like I should probably upgrade from these old Boston Acoustic VR2’s, and curious if anyone
Need help have a sonos roam and a first generation sub. The S2 application picks up both speakers but I can't make them part of the same room. Be great to have the roam and sub working together any advice welcomed.
HiI have yet to find an elegant way of getting podcasts onto my sonos system. My latest attempt is to stream from my android device but Sonos seems to require that the podcasts are stored in a specific folder. But no podcast apps on android seem to use that folder to store the actual podcast file. So again I am struggling to find a way of getting this to work.I tried linking my sonos account to my pocketcasts account but that never seems to refresh the subscribed podcast list. Why is it seemingly so difficult to get podcasts on sonos?
Is there anyway I can stop my wife and kids from connecting to my sonos even though they are on the same network?
I ordered an Amp to replace a ZP80 device and received the Upgrade credit when doing so.When I received the Amp, I realised that I should have acquired a Port device so I returned the Amp to Sonos. I would now like to order a Port device. My question is how do I get the Upgrade credit reapplied to the replacementPort device? Thanks for your help.regardsDon
I had removed the service previously but after the 12.2 update I cannot remove it. In the iOS app, no way to remove my account, only an option to reauthorize it. The desktop app allows one to remove services, including Sonos Radio, but as soon as I remove Sonos Radio, I get prompted asking if I am sure I want to remove it, it OK, and its removed for 1 second, and then comes right back. I don’t want Sonos Radio (never wanted it TBH) but it came in an update with no way to remove unless you enabled it first, and now it seems you can no longer remove it either! I already sub to a commercial free music service, I have no need for 2nd. The extra icon is annoying and confusing to users.
