Hi,I am new to the Sonos ecosystem. I am using a Five with streaming and Line-in. On the Sonos app I find that at around 25% on the volume slider the sound is almost imperceptible.I’ve added the screenshot below. This makes it a bit annoying to adjust the volume because the I need to be on the upper end of the slider most of the time and it’s overly sensitive. Effectively I only use the right side of the slider.Is this the normal behavior? Can it be swapped to something more linear? Is there something wrong with my Sonos Five?Additional information:The issue is there for online sources too. Not just line in which I have tried adjusting with the source level settings.I have not set a volume limit.I tried the Loudness setting in EQ on and off. I am guessing this just gives a V profile EQ.Right now I can get around this for the Line-in by setting the Sonos volume to Max and using the hardware control of the device providing the input whi

Does anybody know how to or have experience in deciding how many speakers you need for a specific amount of room space. Speakers/square meter.I am deciding for our restaurant and would appreciate the help if someone has this experience of decision making.Thank you.

Hey everyone.  I am brand spanking new to using any Sonia components at all.  My father has his entire home, including a hifi Klipsch based HT set up with a connect and THREE outdoor zones (maybe 9 zones total. He’s AALLLLL in!) connected so I am not new to using Sonos.  Well, I’ve finally relented on my passion for only using wired hi-fi set ups exclusively.   I would now like to use a Connect gen 2 that i will be buying from an eBay seller to save a bit since I’m also buying 2-3 Sonos Ones.  MY QUESTION IS:  Does a Connect gen 2 work with Sonos’s most current app/ecosystem??Will it work with the S2 app??

I have a theater room now with a denon receiver / cd / phono. i would like to put 2 sonos speakers in kitchen. Be able to play simutanusly cd / phono and stream into denon.

Hi all , when I get my Sonos beam gen 2 and one SL speakers I'm going to use the trueplay , but my living room has the stairs in it , behind where I sit ! Will I need to go up the stairs a bit with the mic whilst tuning the Sonos ?? Thanks  

I have the Arc soundbar speaker and am waiting for my Sub (Gen 3) to arrive.  A friend of mine has the Beam soundbar speaker and uses two Sonos 5’s for his rear surround speakers but doesn’t have a sub.  I would like to know if surround speakers are required or recommended with my projected setup; Arc SL and Sub.  I think the Arc soundbar already sounds great but gets distorted during high bass or is “missing” some bass. I think the Sub will provide what I believe is missing in my future setup and the rear surrounds wouldn’t be necessary at all.  I’m looking for anyone’s thoughts on this.  Thanks for you let time and feedback, I appreciate it!

Hi all - so I have two of the newer Sonos 5 speakers tied together with a Gen 2 Sub and a soundbar.  From what I understand the 5s and the Soundbar will support the Qobuz 24bit streaming, but the Gen 2 Sub will not.  So my question - since they are all grouped together, will the two 5s still play 24 bit or will the sub bring it all down?

We have a new home and a few of the samsung tv’s are connnected to Sonos sound bars, which is nice because using the built in tv speaker doesn’t down great due to the cabinets/book cases the tv’s are in.It appears that the soundbar is connected to the tv via the single serial wire to a one connect box. The sound bar doesn’t have HDMI.  I am using a roku voice remote for the tv but i can only adjust sound via the Sonos app linked to the sound bar. Is there a way to bypass the Sonos app and system to just allow me to control the tv’s sound via the roku remote and only have sound come out of the soundbar (not the tv)?thanks for any suggestions!SM.

I just beginning to investigate taking the dive into the Sono world. I don't know if what I'd like to do will work and I'm looking for some advice. I'm thinking of using using a Samsung Frame that has it's "one connect box" connected to a Sonos AMP using eARC. The AMP and the one connect box are hidden in a cabinet across the room from the Frame TV with the extra long "one connect cable". The one connect box will have other HDMI devices plugged into it. The AMP would also be powering existing in-wall rear surround speakers.  Under the Samsung Frame would be a Beam (or Arc) sound bar. The sound bar I hope would just using wifi so there are no addition cables between the TV and the sound bar. Does it work like this? Can the AMP handle the eARC input from the TV and share it with the Beam/Arc soundbar wirelessly? I don't know a lot about how the Sonos ecosystem works, any insight would be greatly appreciated! Does Sonos have any plan to allow its Users (Customers) to PASSWORD-PROTECT control of the App?This question has come up repeatedly from Sonos Customers, going back now over 8 years(!), yet it is always ignored by SONOS, or some diversion answer is given like “change your router” ...”hide your internet router password” ...”stop your guests using your internet” ...etc ...none of which truly solves the problem; a problem that I’m sure with all the tech expertise that SONOS has, just to simply password protect the app.Here’s a quick real example of how allowing access to my SONOS system by anyone with a SONOS app can be ...we had some friends staying.  We didn’t give them access to our Sonos but they downloaded the SONOS app. Logged into our wi-fi (which of course I would give them as they need internet access for emails, etc) and they started using out SONOS at their whim. I’m considering a 5.1 system driven by an Arc, with Amp providing in-ceiling surrounds and, possibly, subwoofer. I’d like to clarify some details that are unclear in the support articles.Here’s what I think is true:If the ceiling speakers are configured as surrounds, they cannot be used to play audio independently; but there is an option to play full volume through the Arc and the surrounds together (described here). I assume this works for all types of inputs (TV, AirPlay, internet audio). Per this article, it’s not possible for Amp to drive a subwoofer when its other speakers are used as surrounds. Hello,My Sonos ARC’s center speaker has a lot of bass distortion (crackling during bass heavy scenes,when playing back any material that is lossless (Dolby TrueHD and Atmos (TrueHD) from a Blu ray player, LPCM from a blu ray player, etc.).  Playing back lossy material in Atmos, Dolby digital, Dolby Digital+ (such as an Apple TV 4k), does not present the same issue (clean audio).  This is something that I either haven’t noticed before (I bought the ARC back in August of this year), or most recently became an issue (maybe due to a firmware update?).All components are connected to my LG 55 CX model (set to PASSTHROUGH), eARC HDMI out to the ARC.  I have power cycled all components, used different HDMI cords, checked that all components and TV have the latest firmware, etc.  Any help would be much appreciated.  since most of my watching is with lossless audio.  Thank you.  

Hi,I have 3 Sonos speakers: a Play:5 a Play:1 and a playbase. Last week I noticed there was an update available for my system, which I installed. After the update I have problems with the IOS controller. The play:5 and playbase are disappearing from the controller all the time and only the Play:1 is visible. This only happens on my iphone with the ios app. On android all speakers are visible all the time. Sometimes it helps to have the app scan for new devices, sometimes the speakers just reappear again after some time. It's pretty annoying as my iphone is my standard device.I've reset the app, deleted it and installed it again, restarted all speakers by unplugging them, shut down my router, reste the wifi etc but the problem still exists unfortunately. As it only happens on IOS it seems more like a problem with the ios controller than anything else…..

My eldest is getting to the age where they are able to use tablets, PCs etc.  and is getting increasingly independent. They also have a Sonos speaker in their room which they use for podcasts and music.What I’d really like is an experience tailored to kids and parents:Limit the rooms that they can control (no having fun messing around with speakers in the office or other bedrooms). Limit the sources / filter adult content Curated Playlists / streaming services (e.g. Stories Podcast on Stitcher / Spotify)Another issue is that their Windows Tablet is in Windows S mode to prevent random installs, so we are unable to install the Sonos controller software as it is not available via the Windows Store.  Is there any reason that the existing Sonos Controller cannot be made available in the store via Project Centennial / Desktop Bridge / MSIX Packaging Tool, or whatever the current iteration is?

HelloMy Beam (Gen2) arrived today (10/4/21).  Here are my thoughts…Test Parameters Testing was done to compare the Arc and Beam-Gen2 as stand-alone speakers without surrounds and sub(s). My opinions are based upon my ears. There are no graphs or charts to show frequency response with peaks and valleys. In short this is not a Peter Pee review (for those of you familiar with his YouTube Chanel) . I’ve configured my AMP in a home theater setup with B&W mains, the virtual center (of course), a Gallo Sub hardwired to the AMP, and dual Play 1 surrounds. Now I’m wondering what’s the best way to calibrate this mashup? Any ideas?

It seems as though Apple music playlists are no longer appearing in Sonos when indexing the library.After many hours of chat with Apple / Sonos it appears the reason is that Apple no longer generate the XML file required by Sonos to index the Library. It is unclear as to whether this is a result of my recent Monterey upgrade or not.The “iTunes Music Library.XML” ( you must have the spaces !! ) file can however be exported by Music  / saved to your Sonos library index location and all should be fine, (although you’ll need to do this every time you change a playlist ) but importantly for us all is that Sonos clearly know this restriction to their offering but are not making to clear to all.  Unless a fix is provided by Sonos, or you have the capability to generate XML files (many people will not), the Sonos APP is now in my view seriously compromised.  It was bad enough when we lost the ability to play direct form our phones, but this is now even worse.   I fear 3rd part

Hi all , I have sky+ HD and I've been looking at the beam gen 2 with 2 Sonos 1sl speakers , am I better using the optical from my TV to the bar ( outputs Dolby digital ) or hdmi arc to the bar even though I only have sky+ hd ?? Thanks 

Anyone have this set-up and can feedback Dolby Atmos experience with the Beam 2. I currently have the original Beam and looking to upgrade.
