Well as a new user my experience of Sonos is spending time on this forum whenever I want to listen to a new podcast/ music service... And more often than not we end up listening on my mobile device and the Sonos move stays silent. What a waste of money and time... I just don't get the hype with Sonos. To me it's just another plateforme strategy to lock up customer. We bought you're ***** device at a hefty price, just let people free of using whatever app they want.Sonos feels líke such a con company.I will never buy it again or recommand it. I have just purchased the Beam Gen 2. It will be a stand alone with no surrounds. I don’t have Atmos capability as yet, but I would like to know if I am better using Dolby Digital Plus, or Stereo pcm? I ask this because I am not sure if the speaker would lose some of the audio that Dolby Digital plus sends with it being a 5.1 standard, and the speaker only having 3 channels? Left, Centre and right?
HelloI’m thinking of upgrading my playbar to an Arc. I currently have two Play:1 speakers as a surround pair. Will these work with Arc in Dolby Atmos or do I need to upgrade those as well to One SL or Ones?
Looking to get a new 65”TV , What brand works best with Sonos ? Some people have reported eARC problems with Sony X90J and that was the TV I was about to get . Another model I was looking at was the Hisense U8G but several people reported the same problems . I also looked at the Samsung Q80A and there don’t seem to be any eARC problems with this model . Any thoughts or recommendations ?
HiConsidering getting turntables. Can i connect to pro-ject t1 2 sonos five (stereo) or do you need a sonos amp or port?
Hi.I was told by a retailer that if I mix a One Gen 1 and One Gen 2, surround sound from Beam Gen 2 wouldn't work correctly, and they would output the same sound. Is this correct, as I have read it works fine? Thanks
I’m interested in adding a Sonos Roam to my system and am hoping to get some feedback on cold weather performance. I do a lot of hiking and backcountry skiing and temperatures are frequently below freezing. How does the Roam perform in cold weather? Are there any third party cases that help keep the unit warm?I’m currently using an old JBL Clip3, but it’s very temperamental in cold weather. It works great for two hours or so, then completely dies and won’t take a charge until it warms back up. What can I expect from the Roam?
I’m a little disappointed that Apple Music is somewhat neutered when used though the Sonos app (no ability to start a station directly from a song like there is in the Apple Music app for example). However, when searching Apple Music through the Sonos S2 app I noticed typing in an artist’s name and clicking on the “Stations” tab brings up lots of stations based on different songs from that artist. Same thing when searching for a single song title, there are literally dozens of “stations” based on that song in that list. Which is nice. But where are these stations coming from exactly? They don’t appear to be anywhere in Apple Music that I can see. Is the Sonos app generating them?
Hi there, Is it ok to fix the Sonos Beam Gen 2 to the ceiling ?The height of the ceiling is 2,5m (standard).Another question about the sonos beam gen 2: would it work with the IKEA sonos symfonisk ?
Sonos 1 app. Shows screen insisting I use the new Sonos 2 app. However my older speakers can only he used on the Sonos 1 app as they are " incompatible" with the Sonos 2. However it will not allow me enter the Sonos 1 app. Just shows a black screen with text telling meto use the Sonos 2. Is there a way around this screen I was using my speakers yesterday with out issue.
OK I get that stereo pairing drops when the speakers power down. Its a pain in the butt but not a deal breaker. My problem is that not only does the pairing drop on the Roam, it loses its connection to my voice service and on occasion one of my Roams will completely drop off the system and have to be added back in. Also, half the time I re-pair my two Roams, only one of them plays music. The only solution to this is to remove the offending speaker and then reinstall it in the app. And them go through the pairing again with fingers crossed. WTF Sonos? I like your products but clearly Roam is not production ready as it fails at several things that a portable speaker MUST do. Its pointless to have portable speakers when they are in fact the very opposite of portable. I am concerned that they will never work for the purpose they were intended for in their current form. So are you going to fix this or do I need to return my Roams and find another option?
Why does my Arc always start muted on my TV and not remember the last volume setting
Will I be able to adjust the amps tone controls (bass, treble and Loudness) when my source is Spotify using AirPlay 2 on an Apple TV or iPhone?
Hello.Fairly new to Sonos, have a Pay 5 & 1 currently. Moved to a new house, medium sized living/kitchen entertaining area. I’m looking for a decent set up for streaming and line-in via turntable. My original thought is x2 Play 5sx1 Play 1 in the kitchen area. Not sure if this set up would be much enhanced with a subwoofer? Or if x4 Sonos 5s is a better way to go? or both. I’m moving Sonos 5s to stands to reduce any vibrations, especially when playing from turntable. I’m essentially an idiot Musically/Sonically/Generally, but I like loud and like to think I can tell the difference in quality set ups. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you, WA
I found that when the album art embedded in an mp3 or flac file is too large (for example 1080x1080), then the SONOS S2 app crashes when trying to load and display it. I tried reducing the album art (to 200x200) and it solved the problem. This issue affects the S2 app on both Windows 10 and Windows 7.This may explain some of the app crashes reported by S2 users.
Hi, I have a Sonos Arc the for some reason is not playing Atmos. I have a Nvidia shield pro connected to a HD fury Arcana and that is connected to the arc and to the TV. I have a pro account on Netflix but in the sonos app it shows Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 and in Netflix the Atmos logo appear. What I'm doing wrong?
Hello, finally dived into the Sonos ecosystem and just bought the Sonos Arc SL after much deliberation and was pumped to finally set it up but ahhhhh can't seem to get any content to play with Atmos. I've spent the last 2 hours reading various threads here but still can't reach a resolution, so am hoping to get some direct help 🙂 I have an Apple TV 4k and a 2018 Samsung UN75NU8000 TV without eARC. I understand this relegates me to Dolby Digital + Atmos, but I don't ever see Atmos in the Sonos app even with confirmed Atmos content - only shows "Dolby Digital 5.1." Or does DD+ Atmos show as such? Pretty sure I read somewhere that it should still show Atmos. I have Netflix Premium with 4k, HBO Max, and Amazon Prime and have tested them all. I also tried them via the native apps on the Samsung TV. For example, I tried Matrix Resurrections (showing Atmos logo) on both and it only shows Dolby Digital 5.1 in the Sonos App. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I heard about the
Having a new house build with a huge Great Room that is approx 24-36 in size.I’m buying the Sonos ARC and Sub, but then I’m really limited to in-ceiling speakers (10’ high ceilings). If I buy multiple Sonos Amps for in ceiling speakers, can I have one Amp configured for front speakers (in addition to the ARC), then then have a second Amp configured for rear/surround Speakers? concerned that just having the Arc and one set of rear in-ceiling speakers won’t be enough for such a large Great room and I need to get speaker wire installed before insulation and sheet rock gets installed in the next few weeks. ‘I’d really appreciate any and all recommendation as I’m new to Sonos for large room configurations. I’d rather lean towards more than end up with not enough speakers.
Just got a new Sonos Beam 2 Gen and I’m disappointed, first for the known issue with Alexa and other Sonos products grouping, but especially because Dolby Atmos doesn’t work.I did some tests with my Samsung Smart TV model QE65Q70TAT connected via HDMI eARC port, using Netflix Premium account with movies like 6 Underground (Dolby Atmos) with the following expert setting on TV: HDMI-eARC Mode ONDigital Output Audio Format AUTODolby Atmos Compatibiity ONOn this way, I only got Dolby Plus 5.1. looking on S2 app. What I have to do fix this problem? Thanks in advance
The Sonos system in my house includes a Beam connected to a TV that also has component A/V inputs. If I want to have a turntable in that same room, could I have that audio wired to the Sonos system through those TV audio inputs, and switch the source to the beam with the TV remote as if it’s a video device? If so, I assume an older turntable would require some kind of pre-amp, but could a player with built-in amp go direct?I realize it’s not optimal but I’m curious if it can theoretically work.
Hi, Can I use a Sonos Amp to power my Bose 151 outdoor speakers (rated for max 100 watt)? Not sure if the 125 watt output to these speakers would distort the sound or provide poor quality. Please let me know
AfternoonThrowing this out there to see whether any one can assist before ditching my Shield - which I don’t want to do. Config: NVidia Shield 2019 Pro → LG OLED 65B8 → Sonos Arc. This previously was the same setup with a Playbar, using Optical.Playback from the Shield on Plex/Neflix/Prime etc suffers intermittent audio drops of milisecs. No pattern, could be once per 10 mins, or once per 30 mins, or five in one min. I have reached out to all three manufacturers who all point the blame at one of the others. I have changed out HDMI cables etc to no avail. I have also tested with another Shield with the same annoying issues. This does not happen with Fire devices or Roku.I want to use the Shield as I have some content with Atmos TrueHD so ideally want to stick with it. I will need to replace the TV with an eARC capable unit, or purchase an HDfury Arcana to faciliate that, but don’t want to until I can be sure that it is not the Shield that is causing the issue. Regardless, other than the
I can’t link arc with my play 5 as surround sound
Hi, I’m using a Sonos one speaker in my study room. So far I’m happy with it. The room in my apartment is not big. I’m wondering if I want to upgrade to a better sound experience, should I get one more Sonos one speaker to form a pair (for the stereo separation), or switch to a Sonos Five instead ?I usually don’t listen to bass-heavy music, and I quite like the stereo separation of 2 speakers, but given the small size of the room, I can’t place both speakers at an optimal distance.should I opt for a Sonos five speaker instead ? I heard it produces a better midrange sound than Sonos one. Thanks.
i haven’t found a solution anywhere on the support site so i’ll ask here. i replaced a sonos beam gen 2, sonos sub and sonos amp connected to passive rears for a sonos amp and two definitive 8060STs which have the subwoofers built in. they are connected hdmi to a roku tv.when setting the tv to stereo output the voice are not clear coming from the speakers, with them coming out as stereo from the sonos amp. when the tv is set to play dolby, the sonos amp plays dolby and the voice are clear.my question is - is the recommendation to use stereo or dolby as the audio output for the sonos amp from the roku tv? by setting it to dolby, is it now creating a phantom center channel which is making the dialogue better? is setting it to dolby without the rears making me lose out on other sounds during a movie?appreciate the help here. i don’t want to go back to a receiver but need to make the sonos amp and my speakers have clear vocal dialogue.
