Hello,I’ve read all the similar topics I could find but I can’t get my Music Library to load in Sonos S2 on my Mac Mini running Monterey 12.3.1. I’ve both shared the folders and unshared the folder, changed the privacy settings for Sonos, and looked at my router settings to see if there’s anything there I can change. The router doesn’t have anything listed under USB storage devices, despite the fact I have two drives connected via USB C. If I load the native iTune folder the one song I have in there loads. Unfortunately all my music is sitting on external drives. I’d appreciate any advice you could offer, please.Thank you.
Hi, I got a MOVE speaker last summer and I am very happy for it. Now I would like to implement a home theather system with my new LG smart TV OLED and I would like to know if I can connect the MOVE speaker with a sound bar together with a second different model speaker. Could somebody give me a suggestion? Thanks.
I would like to have both a home theater setup and a music listening setup. Looking over the Sonos products and guides, it seems that a pair of Sonos Five speakers are a good option for music, normal stereo stuff, maybe with a sub. Looking at home theater, though, they recommend beam and arc. I’m not clear on what they recommend for channels behind you in surround sound. So, would it be reasonable to put the two Sonos Five speakers in the back of the home theater, and the arc in front? Or can the Sonos Five speakers be in the front in place of an Arc or Beam?Generally I’m trying to avoid redundancy, such that speakers are used for both purposes. I woudk appreciate suggestions, thanks!
Before I separated my wifi mesh to stop band steering, I could use my Play 5 Gen2 L+R stereo and Gen3 sub to watch movies from line-in via the tv and listen to music although, the sub would usually appear as a “?”. When I used trueplay, the music would play for about 5 seconds, then the sub would stop working, followed by the right speaker and the sub would disappear from the network. After 3~4 hours on the phone with Sonos, I arrived at separating the wifi to 2.4 and 5 Ghz and placing the speakers all on 2.4GHz. The speakers now can trueplay, but now the line-in from the tv will only play the music track with no voice track.Does anyone have any insight into resolving this or should I just factory reset all the speakers and start again?
I tried to find and play internet radio with CD quality on Sonos, but I failed except Radio Paradise. (I tried to add Naim Radio FLAC stream on Tunein and got failure in playing it. ) Is there any radio station of CD or Hi-res audio quality, which can be played on Sonos except Radio Paradise? I don't want to find music and play them. I prefer radio.I prefer music without lyrics like classical music. I think Jazz etc. are fine. If there's no free service, is there a paid service?---- Does Roon music player do this job?---- Sonos Radio isn’t available in my country, but I have questions. Are Sonos Radio HD stations just playlists or on-air? If they are playlists, then do they update their stations frequently? Thanks in advance!
2.0, 5.1, 7.1 iterations. Can someone explain to me what this means and what it doesn’t mean? Confused if it’s good or right. I wish Sonos would do some kind of spreadsheet with explanations and whether it’s right or not for setup.
There’s a 100% hang on startup when starting the S2 controller on MacOS Big Sur (11.5.2 20G95) when the computer is connected to a VPN with Global Protect. In my case the VPN is on 10.0.0.0/8 and the local network is 192.168.1.0/8. The Sonos hardware is connected to the 192.168.1.0/8 subnet. If I disconnect from the VPN everything works fine. If I then re-connect to the VPN after the Sonos controller starts it continues to work fine. When on the VPN the controller boots up and populates the three “System/Now Playing/Select a Music Source” columns correctly. The fact that the “Now Playing” column is correct indicates that it successfully discovered the Sonos cluster. However, about 2 seconds later the app freezes and I get the spinning-ball-of-death. What’s weird is if I force-quit the app is actually recovers for a second and starts working but then quits. I think the SIGTERM or AppleEvent is somehow breaking the deadlock/hang mentioned below. Here’s the callstack for the main thread.
I have a 50” Samsung TV, with Sonos Beam linked to it. It’s in a large room, wall-mounted. When watching TV, the Beam is adequate. But sometimes in the evening, I end up using the room for entertaining, and playing music videos via YouTube. When watching/listening to music on the TV, the sound isn’t really up to it. I have a high-end hi-if in the same room, but it’s not situated in a convenient spot to link the TV to it.I’ve been researching some different Sonos add-ons, and the obvious move seemed to be to add a couple of SL’s. Thing is, I’m not really looking for a surround sound effect, moreso just a generally boosted sound quality & volume. I trialled the SL in a local shop, and found the sound quality a bit underwhelming. The Five however, sounded great. So the obvious (to me) move seems to be to add a pair of Fives into the room, to link wirelessly to the Beam, to boost the sound in the room.Anyone using this combo in this way ? Any reason why it won’t do what I’m looking for
I currently have 4 Sonos speakers (Three Play 1’s and One Play 1) connected. I want to buy two more One SL’s and connect them all for TV audio using the Sonos Beam sound bar. Using the S2 app, can I use all the speakers for tv audio using the Beam connected to the TV via HDMI or is the Beam limited to only two surround speakers? I want to use the S2 app to control all the speakers for tv audio just like I do with Tidal for music.
Hiya, I have a Denon turntable with built in pre amp connected to my play 5 and the sound when connected to the TT is awful and crackly. It also varies between different vinyl records. I have fiddled with the weights on the tone arm. I’ve made sure the pre amp is turned on. And the sound is compressed. What else can I do to get rid of the crackling/ buzz? thanks
Hi There, I currently have 1 Play Five and love it. Considering getting a second unit to pair for stereo sound in the lounge. What is the deal with dolby Atmos? Will the two fives be able to give that sound experience as Apple music now has that ability from the source.
I recently purchased the Sonos Arc SL and soon after acquired Sonos One SLs to add the surround for home theater. This setup is great for home theater and the lack of speaker wires all over the house is a huge positive. SO approved. Disapproved of my older 5.1 setup.I want to be able to play music off the Sonos Ones without the Arc when I’m not watching TV. Is this possible? I want to be able to setup the Sonos Ones as a Stereo Pair outside my TV Home Theater setup. Or even play things off my iPad to one of the Sonos Ones that’s sitting on my desk.Setup description: I have an open kitchen into my living room.Arc below my TV.Sonos One on my desk next to the Sofa.Sonos One on my kitchen Island facing my sofa.Ungrouping and Regrouping the speakers seem tedious. And will I have to retune the speakers every time I group and regroup?
The Sonos playlist function is missing from my IOS Iphone AND my MacAir app. Serching, I see that this issue goes back a year (!!!!) Haven’t seen a solution or work-around posted by Sonos. I can “save” a queu to a playlist, and I see my earlier playlists. But it does not appear anywhere on the apps. After a year? Really? Kindly advise,Mel
I am a happy user of Deezer’s HiFi tier with Sonos, and have been for several years (started on Deezer Elite back in the day...). I chose the HiFi tier as it *was* the only tier offering FLAC quality (and back in the Elite days, it was the only service that integrated with Sonos). My annual subscription is up for renewal next month and I see that FLAC streaming is now available on the cheaper Premium tier too.So, are there any downsides if I ‘downgrade’ to Premium to save some cash?Note: I’m based in the UK. I know that only the HiFi tier offers “360 Reality Audio” but I’m not interested in that. Also it’s an individual account, so I don’t care about family features.Advice please, from those who know! Thanks.
HiThought I would create this thread as a few have reported this issue in the lpcm update threads that are marked as solved so perhaps best to keep it separate.Issue:Before the LPCM update last week my sonos arc would receive atmos and Dolby digital 5.1 from the Apple tv 4k box, audio settings were set to the default AUTO-Atmos available. My LG CX is capable of passing LPCM. Now since the LPCM update with the above settings I still get atmos from apps such as netflix, apple tv + on the apple 4k box, but any content in dolby 5.1 is now outputting as multichannel PCM 7.1, 7.1 being the issue, it should be outputting as multichannel PCM 5.1 I have seen similar posts with this issue on the same device and other devices as well. Thank you
Does Sonos Beam now support DTS? Recently tried watching imax movie on Sony Bravia TV and whilst picture quality was excellent the audio output was pcm. The movie was flagged as DTS not DTS X or DTS HD
I’ve been running a split system since S2 was a thing, with only a couple of S2 devices and everything else staying on S1. Following spousal feedback (after some S2-only devices became popular with her) I decided to finally switch everything I could to S2.I didn’t to the general “update my whole system” because I had an existing S2 household plus I wanted absolute control over which devices went where, so I started by printing a spreadsheet of all my gear (names, ip addresses, serial #s etc) generated by one of my apps. I then went around the house to each up-gradable device, factory reset it, added it to my existing S2, then renaming it to the proper thing.I have to say the process is damn smooth. Even crusty old devices support the custom-wifi method now, which is impressive. Near the end I realized that switching my Boost would disconnect my remaining S1 devices, so first I switched those over to WiFi, then switched the Boost over to S2. Hardest part was finding the damn button on t
I am running the arc via an LG tv and using the iphone to control settings(via sonos app) and I just read that tidal atmos tracks were now available on my iphone tidal app so was wondering how to “stream” them to my sonos arc.............1)Firstly I get the atmos symbol showing correctly on my tidal app on the iphone when I look at a atmos track2)I get atmos tracks to play when i use the LG tv's tidal app (I know this because atmos symbol appears on the sonos app on my iphone)3)When I try and play/stream to my sonos setup atmos tracks from my iphone tidal app - I get a few streaming options at the top i) firstly using my internal iphone speaker i get the atmos symbol displaying correctly and atmos is played ok ii)I also have a speaker symbol with my sonos room name - however this seems to play (be capped) at hi-fi quality if I try and stream an atmos track iii)I have an airplay streaming option with my sonos room name and this appears with the atmos symbol but it appears on my sonos ap
So, when Android users are going to get feature parity with iOS users? It's been a long time since Airplay 2 was implemented and so far nothing on Chromecast. Only Spotify (thanks to Spotify Connect) allows Android users to cast directly from the app, no other app can do it.Why the preferential treatment if Sonos charge the same to everyone? Is it because Sonos executives use iOS devices or what? The Sonos app is bad for everything but configuring the devices and it shouldn't be forced down the throat of customers to replace their chosen service app, it's user hostile and breaks usability.
How expensive can it be to put up for sale a usb C microphone with the optimal characteristics to do trueplay from any android or ios device. a super compact microphone that fits perfectly in a small usb type c.Wouldn't that be easier than having to borrow an ios device. This is advice for Sonos. There are many users who cannot take 100% advantage of their Sonos speakers due to an insistence that trueplay can only be used with IOS.If we see how long the trueplay takes for the new ipads, the 4th generation air does not even have the 5th generation ipad mini and 1 year after its release.
As per the title really. I have a server running Airsonic (advanced) in Docker and finally pieced together how to get it to interact directly with the Sonos ecosystem. It’s much snappier than simplying “adding a folder” from my NAS or workstation. This should be extremely similar for subsonic, madsonic etc.Let me know if any questions:https://www.thesmarthomebook.com/2022/04/04/add-an-airsonic-music-server-to-sonos/
Hi guys,These past days I managed to finish building this set up.My settings: Beam 2 is plugged into the eARC HDMI port, PS5 is plugged in into the standard HDMI port.eARC output is enabled with passthrough. AV Sync Adjustment is turned on with Bypass on. DTV Audio Settings is set to Auto. The HDMI input is set to Bitstream. In the PS5 settings, I set the output to Soundbar.Even though in the Sonos app I get PCM Multichannel 5.1, the output is really low on LPCM. And by this I mean that most of the sound comes from the Beam (center and the other channels) while the SLs barely have some sound. On DTS/Dolby it's louder and it feels like surround.I enabled True Playtuning. Thanks!
Every time I initially start playing music through the S2 app to 2 speakers (a Sonos One and a Sonos Roam), the app says it is playing to both speakers, but only the Sonos One is actually playing any music. I have to go into the ‘Now Playing’ section of the S2 app, uncheck the Roam, then re-check it again in order to get the music playing out of both speakers correctly. This happens EVERY time I have stopped and then restart playing music.
Hi, I currently have a beam gen 2 with 2 rear symfomisks, an LG C1 and an RTX 3080 and am looking for the proper settings to use in windows. I’ve been using the Dolby Access app to setup Dolby atmos and have been using that as my sound configuration in windows. my question is regarding the channel phantoming option in windows sound enchantments. Should this option be enabled for this setup? The fact that Dolby access defaults it to enabled makes me believe that it should be on but am unsure as I’ve found some games don’t always work with this option on.
I am an electrician who has a fairly nice sonos setup. I do run into problems in my living room (where most of my devices are located) with some audio lag when watching tv. I also have issues when connecting to multiple speakers on my iphone to play music in multiple rooms, and sometimes a speaker or speakers will just stop playing music while connected to multiple speakers. I was looking to try and fix this issue and was wondering if running Cat6 cables to each device would help solve them and also enhance my sonos experience (faster connection to devices, eleiminate the lost speaker issue while playing music in multiple rooms, and get rid of the lag I get when watching tv). My plan was (if I hear back that it’ll work and help) to run Cat6 to all of my devices throughout the house and plug them all into a network switch which would plug directly into my router. My current setup:Living roomArc (connected to TV with HDMI - I also have an optical cord I could use but didn’t know which wa
