Is there some kind of protection that wont allow people in my house to randomly connect to my speakers because my brother is always connecting to my sonos speakers but i hate it i only want that i can connect to it.
I purchased my Sonos Connect in November 2018. It has gradually got more and more disinterested in living. I have read that the Sonos Connect is being phased out in favour of the Connect Amp and that Connect is out of support and basically you’re pish out of luck if you have one. Is this the case or should I expect my Connect to still function in the way it was always intended?I have a Project cd box s2 and T1 Turntable connected to a Stereo Box S Phono amp which is in turn connected to the Sonos Connect which then pushes the music to two Play 5 gen 2’s which are wall mounted. We have an Alexa which plays to the play 5s.The Sonos Connect now flashes white and is very difficult to connect. Why might this be?
I have a beam connected to optical on TV. Remote was paired and everything was working fine. One day remote volume control stopped working. I tried to set up the remote again but the IR sensor did not recognize when buttons were pushed. Tried a different remote and it didn't recognize that either. I can still control volume with the app but IR sensor does not seem to receive any signal. Any suggestions?
Hello guys, My budget is tight but my husband wants a sound system for his birthday. Suggest me a quality one and in a medium price range?
So, I’m moderately savvy enough to be able to figure a lot of this stuff out, but sometimes I simply miss things and wanted to see if I could figure out some help with a handful of things. I have a Samsung TV with regular arc, just had my Sonos Arc delivered and with a little trouble initially, got it set up. Everything now looks and sounds great, but when I went to snag some of the One SL speakers to optimize my living room, I’ve run into some snags. Originally I was getting Stereo only, but with a lot of messing around, got a semblance of surround which I’m not sure is actual surround, but just a mirrored signal from the surround speakers. I’m using an HDMI switcher to try to keep a slew of systems and units set up, which I have bypassed as a troublesome middleman and have, at this point, tried connecting my Xbox Series X directly to the TV, with the arc in HDMI port 3 going to the Sonos bar itself. With music, speakers work just fine, no delay, but the rear speakers certainly pro
Been using sonos products for around ten years. Recently I’m absolutely sick to the back teeth of how unstable the app is for connecting devices. Particularly the move. Had it 2 years, not changed my internet provider or moved my modem. Sick of needing to find the move on the network. No logic to it. Just a bad service.
Hello Sonos family - I am building a home and need help determining how many Sonos in-ceiling speakers I need. They will be used primarily for listening to music (I will get a bar for the TV). Below is a breakdown of the first floor with the outdoor patio. Everywhere you see a blue circle is where I am assuming I need a speaker. The interior space is about 42 feet long from the red stove on the left to the fireplace all the way on the right and about 32 feet wide (16 feet for the den area and 16 feet for the room below the den.The outdoor patio: this one seems pretty straight forward and I will want to do two outdoor speakers in the top corners. Should these be Stereo or Mono? The indoor space: I have heard the in-ceiling speakers are pretty loud. Therefore, do I need 2 in the den and 2 in the kitchen or can I do one and one as mono speakers? The two rooms below the den and kitchen (bar and office) will each have one mono speaker but let me know if this is the best thing to doLooking f
Do you think we will notice a difference?
Hello. I am moving from a house to an apartment. In the house I have a stereo system and a home theatre with a 5.1 AV receiver. In the apartment I will only be able to have one system. I could go with an ARC with Sonos sub and surrounds. But I do like my stereo speakers. If I went with a Sonos AMP and add the Sonos sub and surrounds will I miss too much by not having a centre speaker?
Hi,I have a very simple system that works fairly well: 2 Roam speakers connecting to an Asus mesh system with two nodes (the one wires to fios router and one satellite node). It works fine when the speakers are indoors but the speakers start to drop when I go outdoors. I gather it’s due to a relatively poor wifi signal BUT I noticed that the speakers connect only to the wifi signal coming from the router that’s hardwired to the Fios router, even though the other node is much much closer to the speakers. Q: Is there any way to force the Roam to connect to the nearest node? Thanks in advance,Frank
OK. I just bought a pair of SYMFONISK bookshelf speakers, great price, nice looking, Sonos electronics, what could be better? Basically these are to be used as stereo and surrounds in the lounge in our holiday home in Spain. Smallish lounge etc. Perfect behind the settee facing the Beam under the TV. One thing I didn't check, & why would I as my HomePod Minis do this automatically, was when not used via the TV & Beam they’d perform instantly as ordinary stereo speakers. After all, who’d want a pair of good looking decent speakers sitting there all day doing nothing? Sigh. So after creating a stereo pair I join them as surrounds with the Beam, easy peasy. Then play my music. They're silent, gulp. Then I think, oh no Sonos strikes again! Yep. It’s all or nothing. Just like the ‘not being able to join two different speakers as a pair’ even though the kit inside is identical etc’, and all the other can’t do’s in the Sonos range. And despite ‘updating’ technology. So I eventually nav
The last time someone asked why there are no release notes for S1 updates, the answer was that there was nothing new to report. The last available release notes are for version 11.2.6. My current system version is 11.3 (so clearly, there was either a change larger than those between compatibility 11.2.4 & 11.2.6--or the numbering system is used wrongly), and now there is a new update available (I do not know to which version, and I cannot find a way of checking). This might be seen as petty, but the issue is important: past updates have broken system compatibility without announcing it clearly to the user. Sonos have decided to remove many system management options from the desktop app (I find it very user-unfriendly, as it is easier for me to perform more complex tasks on my desktop than on my phone), and so I am reliant on my phone to manage my Sonos system. My phone’s android version is non-upgradeable 8.0, and there is no reason for me to change it: it works very well, has a remo
I saw that this answer/suggestion has been closed but I think it’s time to realize that customers with thousands of dollars invested into a SONOS system would like to see the functionality of a MOVE system paired with the PLAY 5 Subwoofer once and for all. Yes, the MOVE is designed for playability around the house and in outdoor settings but there are those of us that might have need for the MOVE to be used with a PLAY 5 Subwoofer. SONOS, get to work on this!
Hey folks,I’ve got some Playlists and I’d like to add to them. Nothing earth shattering about that BUT, I’m on the Sonos2 app, on my iPhone, I go to the three dots of a song and it has “Add song to My Sonos” but no option to add to Playlists. Should I just delete the App and download a new one? Or is there something else that I’m missing? I added the Sonos Roam to my system about a month ago if that is relevant. Thanks.
Hello. I have a beam 2nd gen, sub 1, a pair of play 3s. It has been working fine until I noticed stuttering on just one of the play 3s. Regular music seems fine. I tried reboots, unplugging tv cables, arc. The fact that it used to work this morning and doesn't makes me worry it is an issue with the unit itself? I tried different output modes on the tv. Had the issue with auto and direct. Dolby and dolby plus didn't seem to output through my surrounds properly so couldn't hear stutter. Everything is hard wired. Seems like the recommendations are to reboot routers and factory reset? But why just an issue with one speaker and not the others? Also if it is just atmos but music seems fine, maybe software?
I’ve got the Arc, the Sub, and the Amp working with my TV. I’ve got a Five in my kitchen I’d line to add in so I can hear the TV when I’m cooking. Is this possible?
I have 4 out of my five requiring an update along with the app stating the app needs an update. After over 10 attempts to install, reinstalling the app, switching off all devices inc router, nothing is working. Any ideas folks ?
It's easy to add a Bluetooth playback device to Logitechs Media Server. Several independent apps provide playback which can be routed to Bluetooth headsets and or speakers. Adds another facility for using LMS across devices.Sonos insistence on a closed system might have a certain commercial logic but does inhibit innovation.
We really need a way to control a Sonos outside the home wifi. I went into holidays and I forgot to remove the alarm I had every day. My dad came to my house for one week and has to wake up everyday to turn Sonos off! I don’t understand that basic features like removing alarms cannot be done outside wifi.
Hello All, I’m a little surprised this hasn’t appeared to come up.I have a Sonos Port connected to my AudioLab Stereo Amplifier. I use the 12v trigger to turn on but I’m also looking for a way to control volume on my AudioLab using the Sonos app. Ability to select the proper input (Dig2) would be a bonus and nice to have. I envision this making use of some external device that can read the Sonos commands and output via an IR blaster. I tried building an Arduino based interface box that almost worked but my limited programming knowledge and time prevented success. I looked at something like a Harmony, but with that being ended by Logitech it seems like a waste of efforts. Plus I’d really like to use the Sonos app primarily. I don’t necessarily want a smart home interface just for this one function. It seems a waste and semi costly. I’m open to any thoughts or solutions. Thank you.
Is it possible to “tune” a Sonos Radio station? I don’t see a thumbs up/down, but does skipping a song or adding it to your library affect the future selection for that station for me?
Which karaoke machine do you guys recommend to work with sonos
I bought a house with some older Sonos products: Playbar and two Play:1 speakers setup as surround sound for a TV, two other Play:1 speakers each in different room, and two Connect Amps, each driving a separate set out outdoor speakers. I added a Beam and two ONESL speakers as another surround system and another pair of ONESLs stereo paired. Before I drop $450 on a Port, I need to understand how it would work. I would ethernet it into my network in the equipment room where the two connect Amps are.Can I just do that and then be able to Airplay through it to the older Sonos speakers and Connect Amps over the network? If so, how do I do that and be able to control which speakers are used for the Airplay output from the Port? Or does Port need to be physically connected to an output? Sonos support info seems to imply that but other things I read indicate the Port can play to other Sonos speakers. If so, how?
I’ve got a Beam Gen 2 connected to an LG BX via eARC and an Xbox Series S, and I’m struggling to find a configuration that works well for both TV and Xbox content. If I set Digital Sound Out to “Auto”, TV content is great, but the Xbox will claim my setup doesn’t support Uncompressed 5.1 or 7.1. Dolby Digital can be selected but this unfortunately has a bad delay that seems to be either a widely known issue with the Xbox or a widely known issue with LGs depending on who you ask, so I can’t do much about this.If I set Digital Sound Out to “Passthrough”, I can use 5.1/7.1 on the Xbox with no delays, but then I have a problem with TV content where if I pause and resume anything, it takes a second or two for the sound to come back. No delay is introduced, just a break in the audio so I miss a few words and end up having to rewind a bit.Other settings: eARC = On, DTV Audio Setting = Auto, HDMI Input Audio Format = Bitstream.Any ideas where the problem is here and if there’s a combination of
Hi I had this problem with my Music Library on my Synology NAS server. Eventually the Sonos Tech Team came up with an answer that worked for me. The problem was I only had one user account for the NAS server and all my Sonos Speakers and iMac and PC etc used this account. It appears the NAS drive thought this was a security risk and stopped my two One SLs for accessing the drive. The other speakers worked OK. The solution was to create another user account specifically for Sonos. As soon as this was created and the library rebuilt with the new account all the speakers worked correctly and I can play music from the library from any speaker. Hope this helps with some of these access problems.
