Here's a solution I recently tested and discovered to be effective! I've mentioned it as a *idea* since I believe SONOS might provide a similar solution, unless (of course) licencing constraints prevent them from doing so without Apple's approval. (I'm not sure... just speculating here.)On your Mac, this software solution instals a "airplay" driver that points to one of your Sonos units. Once installed, you may utilise it in three simple steps.Step 1) Launch a terminal (command prompt) and enter airsonos. This activates the driver.Do not end the session. It is acceptable to minimise the window.Step 2) Select the Sonos as the sound output in the Mac's "System Preferences...", "Sound" menu. Now, play some music on your Mac and increase the volume such that the sound emanates from your Sonos" rather than your Mac. There are no wires. There is no fuss.Step 3) Smile from ear to ear as any and all Mac sound wirelessly streams to your Sonos!
Sonos S2 IoS Version 14.14Arc + Sub + Play3 + Play3 + Move + RoamI have added a google wifi mesh to my home network, to improve wifi coverage. It is a different wifi network to the primary router network.I want to move my Sonos system to the new google wifi mesh, instead of the primary router wifi network, so I can use Sonos from IoS while I am connected to the google wifi mesh.On iphone, I connect to the new google wifi, open Sonos app, and follow instructions to set up a new network. All looks good, it recognizes my iphone is on a different wifi, asks if I want to continue setup, connects to the Arc...and then proceeds with a process of “re”connecting the Arc to the primary router’s network (again), not the one my iphone is connected to. We then go through all the other devices, connecting them to the primary router’s network, not the new google wifi (that my iphone is still connected to).Been through this process 5 times now, restarting app, google wifi, etc., also tried a temporary
Hi, I’ve got a question regarding the Sonos port and how to connect it to my surround sound speaker system and receiver components. But before that I should explain what I am trying to achieve inside and outside of my home. In my living/dinning rooms I intend to install a single One Sl speaker in each room which is an open area. In my family room I intend to install an ARC sound bar and two One Sl speakers as surround speakers to my 4K LG TV with an existing blue ray player. On lower level in my playroom I have an existing 5.1 surround sound speakers along with two Yamaha speakers on zone 2 connected to an out going 15 year old receiver. I also have a 4K Vizio TV , a Fluance phono and a 4K blue ray player I plan to purchase. I am planning to upgrade to the Onkyo sr 6100 receiver and add Atmos speakers. I know I need to get a pre amp for the phono and a Sonos port for this system to work. This is where the question arises. I hope to play phono music inside and outside of my home at th
I have 2 amps on the same network and different rooms. When I turn on one TV , the other TV turn on too. The room are far so it’s not signal from remote control turning on 2 tv’s and if I turn of amps this issue don’t happen
I know this has been discussed earlier in general, but couldn’t find this specific detail mentioned, so: why not allow pairing Sub with Move with the limitation, that Move needs to be in it’s charging base. Idea here is obviously that the charging base would be in static location, and if you lift the Move from it’s charging base, it would automatically disconnect the Sub. And when placing back, it would automatically reconnect to Sub.This is the kind of smart audio I’d expect from Sonos.
does in ceiling speaker have to be cabled ?
I have a holiday rental property with Sonos speakers, and I use a several iPhone SEs in guided access mode as controllers, sat permanently on charging docks.it seems if the iPhone battery is allowed to run down, or it is force restarted, then guided access is now turned off.Is there a way to ensure guided access stays active and guests cannot ‘fiddle’ ?
I have a Sonos arc and sub and was wondering what the best placement for the rear Sonos one speakers should be. Position A, B, or C? Or maybe even another location? Do you want them directly behind you or more towards the sides? Should they be angled towards the seating position or pointed straight towards the screen? Also what is the best height to mount them? The couch is 15 feet long along the back so pretty large.
In a room on the smaller size, I have a Beam paired with two Fives as surrounds. Mostly use for music (probably 70-30 music to TV). Will the Sub Mini add any enhancement to this setup? Or do I have to go for the original Sub?Thanks.
Hi! I have the Beam gen 2, sub gen 3 and two Ones as surrounds. I much prefer the way music sounds when played in a 2.1 setup (ones + sub) rather than the whole 5.1 system. Is there a simple way to switch from 5.1 to 2.1 in the app within the room? I’ve seen topics on this matter from several years ago where the sonos forum staff replied that it would be forwarded to developers. I can’t be the only one that wants this functionality?
Hi,A few months ago I bought a subwoofer from the Sonos website which turned out to be defective. The return got approved, and I sent the defective unit to Sonos’ service center, as requested. According to the tracking information provided by UPS, the unit arrived at the service center on the 4th of May. Since then it's been 8 weeks of almost complete radio silence from Sonos and I do not know what is going on with my return and refund.I've been in contact with the customer service multiple times during the last 5 weeks, and they have been unable to do anything about it. I finally got a reply from someone from Sonos Customer Experience - Level 2, 1 ½ weeks ago but other than a pretty generic “I’m sorry for your experience” email I haven't heard anything from them.Does anyone know if there is someone that I can contact to get this resolved as soon as possible? I’ve tried their chat, calling them, emailing them as well as emailing the ceo, which is when the person from Sonos Customer Exp
I currently have a Sonos Connect that is wired to my stereo amp & speakers. (There are other Sonos items in other rooms but the Connect is the only Sonos component in the sitting room.)If I buy a Sub Mini, will I be able to pair it with the Connect?
Hi Sonos Community, I have a friend that is a die-hard Browns fan and wanted to set up some automation for fun for him as a little surprise. Just like the title says, I was wondering if scoring notifications for a specific game and team could be used as a catalyst to play a song through Sonos. Basically, when ESPN or some other app has the notification that there is a score for the Browns, it would then tell Sonos to play the song. I got the idea this past weekend as he was doing it manually early on in the game, but as the game progressed and got more intense, so did his celebration..lol. So he was forgetting to put it on right away.I looked at IFTTT, but that is a bit over my head. Curious if anyone else has put something together like this before and would have the steps and what is necessary. Thanks in advance!rleip
Hi, could someone from the beta program contact me. I have had a beta account for several years, however after testing and participating in the program for a considerable period of time, I have received no invites or participation requests in over a year! Have tried to find out why, however if you are not part of a project, it’s appears impossible to contact anyone from the beta group!
Hi All.BackgroundMy original intention was to go for the ARC + Sub + 2 One SLs but wondering whether I should go for the 5s. I know full well, that the Sonos 5s are overkill if they are primarily used as rears. However while it would serve that purpose, its more about having better music playback more than anything else (when listening to music in FULL mode). I don’t want to have speakers either side of the TV just for music (given aesthetic reasons) and it would also not leverage off the sub I would have already paid for. My room is fairly large - 20 feet long (6m) and its open plan on width 15 feet wide (4.5m) in the Living area but extends to a total of 30 feet (9m) including the dining area. The bulky 5s would be placed within a wall long book case shelf so they will be easy on the eye (located over 1m or 3ft behind the couch that faces the TV). I have no real intention to use the line in port (which gets disabled when using the 5s as rears). Questions: Does anyone have this
I bought an Arc and I want to know directly from Sonos what happens to the speaker arrangement inside the Arc when I connect the 2 One’s? I have heard that if the surround channels are taken over by the One’s, it frees up two of the Arcs surround speakers to drive more bass response? Is that an accurate understanding of how the software sorts itself out? thanks! If not please explain what happens with the two One’s. Thanks again!
Anyone have a up-to-date Sonos Speakers: Product Comparison Chart?
Hi In my lounge I have a Playbase and two play:1’s for surround sound. I love the set up for movies/TV etc. It all works great. When playing music I have set Sonos use all three (i.e. not as surround sound) as you should.I think it sounds pretty good for music as I assume (?) that the Playbase takes up most of the bass load (and more?)But what would be a next step up for music playback, or is there one that is even worth it. I could swap the play 1:s for Sonos Fives but that would be expensive (and can I use Play fives as surround speakers or would I have to keep the play1:s?) and would they work with the Playbase in music setting? I could add a Sub to the system but again how much would that be a step up with the Playbase already in the room? And please note I am happy with the PlayBase for movies etc, I have no desire to chase more Bass, it’s loud enough, I am more interested here in improving Music playback.Any help appreciated, I do like the play 1:s + Playbase for music but it’s
Dear Sonos, (I’m cc’ing your forums with this support ticket text) I’ve been patient about you totally ruining my living room setup due to the Arc changes you made. It’s been long enough. I’m sick of waiting. (Not to mention you EoL’d the ipod I used to tune the system with this dreadful update, but I can’t use the new iPad Pro I own - despite it having a complex microphone array.)I’m a google guide (among other platforms) with literal millions of product and business review views, and I’m going to start giving you the feedback that you’ve earned. What is your problem? Why can’t you revert the changes? Are you really so terrible at product management, customer experience and engineering that you can’t fix what you clearly have admitted to screwing up?Seriously, we’ve spend many thousands of dollars for a product that sounds like an entry level Bose soundbar now. Please give me my money back, so I don’t have to start telling the internet who doesn’t already know know how bad you’ve scre
I would like to be able to listen to Radiooooo.com Is there any way to suggest radio streams to Sonos?thx merci
Hi, I have a pretty simple issue which became complex enough to ask the forum. I have few SONOS speakers from IKEA (shelf and lamps) and want to connect them to my TCL TV (not Roku). The aim is to use a speaker from TV and SONOS (not SONOS only). I tried to find speakers via same WiFi - that didn`t worked. I tried to connect SONOS speakers via Apple TV (airplay) - that didn`t work, and as far as I read in that case you can only connect SONOS speakers, but TV speaker won`t work together. I can buy BEAM or RAY SONOS speaker - but as far as I`ve read I won`t be able to use my TV speaker together with other SONOS speakers. So, what is the simplest (and cheapest) solution to use in the same time fabulous TV speaker with Dolby Atmost, with IKEA SONOS speakers as rear speakers (without delay between TV and SONOS speakers) ?
Anyone else running Android 13 and tried adding a new music streaming service?Every time I click +Add A Service option, the app immediately closes.Same issue on Sonos app v 14.14 and 14.15Android 13 on Pixel 6
Two simple questions:1.- Is it possible to combine a Paybase with a Submini?2.- Can a roam speakers be integrated also in the lan of speakers that I now have? Can I use a roam speaker from the sonos app and joining it with other speakers e.g. one that i have in the kitchen?ThanksICF
I have a Sonos Arc and recently bought two One SLs to add as surrounds. I can get the One SLs added to my Sonos app but when I go to add them as surrounds, it errors out telling me that “There is a problem adding your surrounds. Check the network connection and make sure your products are powered on. Try again.” If I quit the start up, it ends up saying “Living Room (+?+?)” on my rooms. Any help?
With Sonos alluding to it on Twitter the past two days I assume it will be launched this week. My big question I hope they answer-2 Minis or One Sub for an Arc surround setup?
