Bonjour Est-il possible de couper l’alimentation de la Beam ou faut-il la débrancher ?
I want to have pre-named groups like “Upstairs”, “Downstairs”, “Whole house” etc. Coming from Google Chromecast, I really miss this feature.
I have 3 Wifi access points in my Home. The broadband router is on 2.4GHz channel 1, and a pair of powerline APs are on channels 6 and 11, so there’s minimal overlap between the three. My Roam Alexa and Roam SL are set up as a stereo pair and stand on the same desk as the router, about 1 metre from it. Despite this the Roams regularly connect to one or other of the powerline APs despite the signal strength being considerably lower. Why? I’d expect the Roams to go for the best signal. The only difference I can see is that the router only supports a 20MHz channel width while the two powerline APs support 20/40MHz.I’d really like the Roams to connect to the router and start there so they can get straight out onto the internet. If they connect to a powerline AP then any data to them has to come in through the router, out through the local Ethernet powerline adapter, across the ring main, into the remote powerline AP, and out from there over Wi-Fi to the Roams, which is so unnecessary. Newbie here!We are renovating our kitchen/living room and I never had any pre-wiring experience and do not own any Sonos products. So far most of house is automated by Alexa and I would like to keep it that way. Red area marks the couch/viewing space.Potential areas for rack set-upBlue X - Under the stairs closet Green X - Garage I definitely want to pre-wire for a home theater but also want to start the journey of automating the whole house speaker system. Need recommendations on what kind of system I should look at, what the main considerations for a pre-wiring any suggestions on articles, videos? Thanks in advance!
Not sure if Sonos is large enough to be affected by the EU’s Digital Services Act, but I think it will be sometime next year. I am guessing this is why the change in Privacy Policy was recently done.I would like to ask that Sonos publish all of their cloud API, not just the old version currently on their developer site. The app uses many APIs from the 1.3 API set but the docs are stuck at 1.1, missing a lot of the good stuff. More specifically this makes it much harder for third parties to integrate fully with their system, which is one of the goals of the DSA.
Scenario: Semi-Formal Living room with a Samsung Frame TV. I have a small recessed audio/video box mounted inside the wall behind the Frame TV to contain the One Connect Box. We aren’t terribly concerned about the sound quality of the TV…..won’t be watching many movies here….mostly a football game or something like that. Because of the semi-formal state of this room and the look we are going for, we want to avoid a sound bar…..or at least a visible one. I would, however, like the ability to wirelessly transmit the TV’s audio to other various sonos wireless products inside my house…..i.e. if watching a football game, can blast the auto into other rooms. We have a different (non Frame) samsung tv in our office that has a Beam. We use the audio share feature occasionally and love it. Must: We need the wireless broadcast audio signal that is played throughout the house to be in sync with the Frame TV…..in other words, if I use the office tv to transmit the wireless signal throughout
I have a beauty spa and atm use google home which continuously drops out. I have just installed satellite and it is still happening. I want to set up Sonos instead and have 5 rooms that need music. Can anyone give me advice as to what I need please as I don’t want to continue having problems.
I already own a Playbar and recently purchased a Play 1. One thing I find invaluable is being able to control the Playbar using the TV remote, even if playing music. It is very intuitive and easy to use. What I've noticed however is that now when grouped with the play 1 the TV remote volume control only manages the Playbar vs. the whole group volume. Is there a way to add an option to have the TV remote control either only the Playbar or the whole group volume once grouped? Would help to extend the handy and intuitive control the bring the volume up and down across the rooms.
So quick question and maybe redundant but when listening to Apple Music do you get better quality of sound if you pull a song from the Sonos app or the Apple Music app and Airplay? I can’t tell much difference but thought I would ask.
A little background - my wife and I are retired and full-time RVers. I am also a former part-time musician with a decent ear. Since I can’t have my transmission line speakers, big amps, and Squeezebox system in the RV, I’m adopting newer technology. I have just swapped out our Polk Audio soundbar and sub with a Sonos Beam (Sub Mini to arrive in two days… but don’t tell my wife). I have uploaded a bunch of music to YouTube Music and have set up the music library on my laptop to play on the Sonos (both methods sound SO much better than blue tooth to the old sound bar!). The problems are these: 1) we are stationary right now with 200+ MBps broadband for internet. When we are on the road, we rely on a 4G MiFi hotspot for connectivity and speeds depend on whatever tower is available. Thus, when traveling, streaming from the laptop will be the most reliable approach - but I don’t want to leave the laptop running 24/7 to do that. My beef with YT Music is that the interface is 19th century and
We are remolding a house we will move into and we just finished our outdoor pool and looking at getting the Sonance 8.1 outdoor system and then also have Sonos bluetooth speakers in various rooms inside. I would like to have all this on the same Sonos App where I can control it all together, or use different music in different areas. And then I’ll combine the app to Google home to control it with voice. I have searched for hours for this answer. Hoping someone can help me out so I buy the right products! Thank you in advance!
I have this issue on one phone. it struggles to find the rooms, when it does find the rooms it then won't connect. All other devices my partners iPhone, iPads, computers work fine. But this is the thing….this problem only applies to my iPhones going back over 3 maybe 4 handsets so is it something to do with the software passing onto each new handset when I do the changeover?Help. Very annoying. Current handset is iPhone 13.Thank you
I purchased two Moves with the intent of creating a stereo pair of portable speakers. Fine on WiFi. Bluetooth is a whole different story. I should have paid closer attention to the specifications - specifically the FAQ. The whole point of getting two Moves was to take my music outside and on the road where there is no WiFi. I am very disappointed in Sonos at the moment. There is an old guideline in product design/development: if you can’t do something fully and completely to what the average customer will expect, don’t do it until you can. To the Sonos engineers and product management folks: engineering a pair of speakers to work as a stereo pair over bluetooth is very possible and has been accomplished many times. I have a pair of very high quality JBL Flip4s which work nicely in stereo mode while connected to my phone in Bluetooth mode. They do this by pairing the streaming device to one of the speakers and then connecting the two speakers to each other so that the one drives the oth
Hello Sonos Community! This is my first post to this forum and I hope you can help. I’m trying to figure out my best next upgrade. I mostly use my Sonos and audio set up for listening to vinyl records. It’s a somewhat entry-level set up and sounds good. But now that I’ve built up my vinyl collection, I feel like I”m at a point where I’d like to upgrade but I’m not sure where I should invest. Here are my specs:Turntable: Audio-Technica AT-LP60X Receiver: Marantz SR-48mk Sonos equipment: Connect - connected to receiver and turntable (Two) Play:5 (Gen 1) - set up in stereo in the living room Play:3 - set up on the other side of the living room One - set up in kitchen Other speakers: Bose 201 Series III - set up on dinning room, which is in between living room and kitchen,. Connected to Receiver. What’s my best next upgrade? Will upgrading the Sonos Amp make a significant difference? Or should I invest elsewhere? Thanks!
I currently have a 2014 Samsung TV that’s on its way out. It has an HDMI Arc port plus 3 regular HDMI ports. My Beam is connected to the HDMI Arc, and SkyQ & Firestick to regular HDMI ports. My current set up works perfectly well with no issues, lypsync or sound quality etc but I’m looking for a tv with eArc to enable Atmos but want to be sure on compatibility and avoid potential issues.Recommendations on tv’s to suit my set up would be greatly appreciated (without spending a small fortune). I was thinking Samsung or Sony. Thanks in advance.
Hey Sonos Community,I'm on a mission to upgrade my two-story house with an epic Sonos speaker setup. Picture seamless multi-room audio flowing through both levels. Any suggestions for the best speaker configuration? Eyeing Sonos One, Play:5, Beam, but open to ideas. Consistent audio quality matters, and immersive sound in some rooms is a thought. Budget's a factor too. If you've tackled a similar challenge or know the drill, your insights are pure gold. Excited to create a harmonious home audio haven.
Anybody got experience of using TP Link as the sole Ethernet connection to their Sonos system? Is it stable, reliable and an improvement on a wifi only Sonos set up?Many thanks
I have 8 Sonos products all first generation (Play1,Play 3,Play 5, Connect etc) as well as one Sonos 1 speaker. I use a Sonos 1 Controller and am satisfied. My Sonos 1 was reconfigured so I can use my Sonos 1 Controller. My wifi was recently changed and my question is: If I factory reset all my speakers except for the Sonos 1, when I get connected to the new wifi can I then add the Sonos 1 without having to factory reset it. I ask this because I think if I factory reset the Sonos 1 it will revert back to it’s original configuration (which will not work with my Sonos 1 Controller. Please advise.
I need help deciding what upgrade is worth more. I currently have a setup with a beam (gen 1) and 2 ones (Gen 1) for my home theatre. We just bought another tv and thought it would be great to give that a sound upgrade as well. It’s our secondary tv so nothing fancy but a sound upgrade is needed anyway. Now, I was thinking of upgrading the system while I’m at it but not sure what would give the best performance enhancement. Should I upgrade the 2 One to Era or focus on upgrading the beam to an arc + sub (mini or regular…?). There are so many options here… My budget allows for the regular Sub + an arc at maximum.
I really need some help figuring out which 4k disc player to get. Having trouble finding one. Here is my setup:TV: LG B2 77” OLED Sound: Arc + Sub Gen 3 + Ones Streaming device: Apple TV does all the work here Media usage: mostly streaming with occasional disc media (mostly BluRay kids movies + plan to get some 4k disc adult movies)I’ve heard that some 4k players have issues with Sonos. For example one reviewer for the Sony X700M said Sonos systems uniquely have issues decoding DTX and thus resorts to inferior audio settings. This makes me nervous about Sonos and 4k players.Necessary to have:I just want it to work and the surround to sound good. I don’t want to constantly have to worry about whether or not I need to go in and change settings on the TV or Sonos system based on whether I’m streaming or using the disc player or playing certain movies. It doesn’t necessarily need to be the best possible sound the disc/player can provide so if some default settings get good surround sound fo
My SmartThings Hub can’t find my 3 Amp. I have try connected Amp by ethernet and wifi. My other speaker (Play1, Play5, Symfonisk) work great with SmartThings. But my Amp isn’t find.I have try with the Search near by and by the Sonos make.My SmartThings Hub is connected by ethernet on the same network. How can I have my Amp in the ST Hub ?
I have no problem getting Dolby Atmos from My fire stick Max connected directly to a EDID switch (4 in 2 out). I have set the Blu Ray player to output Dolby Atmos and the Blu ray Player display/audio menu confirms true HD/ Dolby Atmos tracks are playing but I can get no better than A Dolby Digital 5.1 audio on SONOS Arc. The Blu Ray player is plugged in directly beside the fire stick Max on my EDID switch and is connected with a 48GB HDMI cable. Does any one know where my bottleneck may be?
Hey all,We have just finished our retirement home build and I am looking to install a Sonos system. The builder pre-wired 2 Ceiling speakers and 2 exterior speakers on our lanai all the speaker wires run to a utility closet in our front hallway.I am determining everything I need to buy and wanted to get some advice on that. For the exterior, there will be a TV there eventually, but I initial thought is that I just want to play music through those speakers - so I am thinking I just need an amp and the 2 Sonance exterior speakers. Is that right and does that limit me in any way if I want to add the exterior TV to the sound in the future? For the interior, I assume a need an additional amp, a sound bar, two passive ceiling speakers and a subwoofer to get surround sound. Am I missing anything there? For reference, the utility closet is within 50 feet of both the interior and exterior TVs and speakers and all TV locations have ethernet cables pulled to the closet. Thanks in advance for any an
HelloI have beam gen2 plus sub gen3 and would really like to add my turntable to the set up. I’m going round in circles (pun intended) trying to decide between an amp, a port or a 5 with a line in. I’ve tried cabling it up to my tv with the RCA but it won’t play through the HDMI arc, it will play via its own input but I don’t want the tv on whilst playing.A second hand 5 is probably most cost effective but would that work with what I already have? Also tried combining the HDMI into 1 input into the beam but it didn’t like it. Many thanks in advance. steve
