Hi, what if the battery of Sonos Move runs out forever and I keep the Sonos Move steady on its charge base? Will it continue to work because of the eletricity provided by usb plugged base? In other words if i do not buy another battery ...will it continue to work on its base because of eletricity power provided by the base? waiting for your reply… thank you… PS:How much will it cost the replacement battery?
Hi Guys! Just 2 quick questions as mentioned in the title. As I found out if I use 2 Sonos One as Rear with my Playbar and Sub I will be able to use Alexa from the Ones. Only Airplay will be disabled. Is that correct? Can I pair the latest Sonos One with a One SL as my Rear Speakers with a Playbar and Sub? And if yes will it still be able to use Alexa from the single Sonos One? Thanks in advance Regards Michael
Hi! The Sonos replacement program tells me that my Sonos Play:5 gen 1 won't receive update from may 2020. Have any of you any experience with Play:5 gen1 vs Sonos Move? I love that's it portable but I don’t want to step down too much in sound quality. But since the gen1 is quite old it might not be any big difference? Thanks
looking at possibly adding a NAS drive to use with my Sonos , I have about 2 GB of music on the computer, which is backed up to a external desktop HD.I doubt i would use all of it with the sonos, say at the most 1 GB. Would a single disc NAS be ok, NAS drives have always been a bit of a mystery to me, i understand the basics of the raid side with mirror images, but i cant see me wanting this as I keep the music stuff backed regularly. Single NAS ready populated drives are a good bit cheaper as well. Looking at a max budget of £150 to £200, any advice on this , and what to purchase appreciated. Last question, 75% of my music is in MP3 format, the rest is Flac, will Sonos play Flac, if so would I notice any difference in sound, i am happy with MP3, so wonder if its worth bothering with Flac, considering the ammount of space it takes up.
Is it possible for the BEAM to accept an HDMI signal directly from a source (cable box/ dvd. etc) instead of the HDMI arc or optical out to hdmi converter
Hi! I have a LG OLED55B7 with a magic remote and a playbar. I’ve configured the remote to work with the Playbar a few times now, but i stops working after a while. It’s like the playbar resets itself. Sometimes it starts working again after I hit mute or unmute. But that only works once or twice, then the connection between the two are totally of. In the TV-settings I do the following: Set the soundbar to optical/arc output, set the manufacturer to philips, and use the controller 1. then i configure the remote in sonos. This works for a short brief of time, then it loses connection. I have tried other manufacturers for the playbar in the TV settings with no luck, philips seems to be the best option in that case. I will however try the pioneer and see if that may work. But I’m in doubt. I do not use the optical cable that came with the package, I’m using another optical cable I’ve had with my old system. Feels unlikely, but could that be the reason why?
Hey all, I am a newbie on this stuff, so please be kind. I recently purchased a cheap LG tv, which of course, has terrible internal speakers. With my old TV, I used an older soundbar that connected via Dig 3.5 mm cable, which worked well. This new LG, of course, has no such port. I tried connecting via optical cable, 3 diff ones, in fact, with no sound. This led to my next option, a Sonos Beam. Got it today, plugged it into the tv, did setup via app, and…...you guessed it, no sound. App says nothing found after plugging HDMI ARC cable into appropriate port on TV. Unplugged & turned off TV, started over, same result. Tried calling Sonos, nobody home. So, called LG, they gave me a few suggestions, again, no sound. They said they would call Sonos and get back to me Monday. Not to be a pessimist here, but I’ve heard that one before. Is there any other than the steps that are given elsewhere in the forums here, left to try? I am thinking that the LG firmware is the culprit here,
Does Sonos move support HSP? I AM going to use It with skype on an Ipad or skype on an Android phone. Will It work?
I have just ordered a Sonos Move and wish to use it possibly as a party speaker and was wondering how loud it can actually get-would it be able to be loud enough to hear the music over people shouting and conversing at the same time?
I’ve just bought a Sonos Move for myself and two Sonos Ones for my parents. After hearing how great the two Sonos Ones sound paired together I’m seriously considering ditching my Move for two Sonos Ones instead. I’d ideally like to purchase a Sonos One for myself and use it with my Move in my bedroom. From my experimentation with my parent’s Sonos One it seems as though the Move must be its own “room” and be “grouped” with the One for them to play together. My issue is that I would like to simply select a single “room” from any of my Apple devices and have the audio automatically play from both the Move and One. When toggling between apple devices and sources, I often must go back into the Sonos app and regroup the Move and One for them to play together. I’d like to be able to open my Macbook Pro, select the audio icon from the menu bar and choose a single “room” or something from the audio drop dropdown and pump audio through both the Move and One. Is that not possible? When on my M
I have 2 Play-1s and would like to add a Sonos Beam Shadow for 3.1 setup. I have read that this setup would only allow the Play 1s as rear channel speakers Does the newer “Beam Shadow” allow the Play 1s to be used as front L&R speakers ? THX
I have a Sonos Port connected to my stereo and a Play:5 sitting in the same room. How can I force group the Sonos Port to my Play:5 so when I use the play button on the 5, I can play my music on both devices? Thanks.
Hello, I have a paired set of Sonos One SL’s. After 24 hours of not being in use I seem to have to unplug them to reset them in order for the app to see them. The problem is I set them up really high and hard to reach. I thought they would stay on stand by until the next use. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks
Will sonos be updating software? I have a sonos beam and two surround ones. Supposed to be great for films. Very disappointed. The sound is dropped when i go to watch a film on netflix as apparently Dolby dig + isn't supported. Why o why haven't sonos sorted this for what must be the largest film platform. Every time i watch netflix i have to reset netflix audio output away from Dd+ as this is the default on its handshake. The sound isn't as good as ordinary terrestrial t.v. Also sold with Alexa!!! But Alexa use is very limited and will not control any smart plugs or lights. Ask Alexa to turn the lights off and sonos Alexa turns the TV off . Again very disappointed. i was told it was good for Nflix and would operate as my Echo. :-( :-(
Hello. Im thinking of getting the amp so I can connect my LP player. The idea is also that I want to connect a speaker for my terrace where I have no electric outlet, whereof I need an Sonos Move as I understand? There for my question is, can I connect the Sonos move to the amp? Or is there another, better solution for me? Thank you !
I'm considering an aftermarket purchase from ebay, but would really like to know if the product(s) have been previously recycled. I'd also like to know how to tell if a product that is being sold for parts, actually doesnt work, or if it is user error and they are just fed up with the tech part of sonos.
I'm dying to get a Sonos surround sound setup going, but my media room has a projector at the back of the room. From my understanding, I'll need to run an optical cable from the back of the room to the PlayBar up front which I'm really not thrilled about. I love the idea of going wireless, but having to run a 50 foot optical cable along my wall in order to go wireless seems a little like defeating the whole point, yea? Please tell me there's a better way to do this...wouldn't it make so much sense to have other devices capable of accepting the optical connection? It would be way easier in a projector setup to run an optical cable to either the sub or rear speakers which could be placed near the source. With a projector, the only speaker that kind of HAS to be wireless is the soundbar. Has Sonos given any thought to this?
Hi, I presently store all my ripped CD’s in flac format on a local drive NAS. However, device is old, and I therefore consider alternative solutions. I have a very fast fiber internet connection. Is it feasible at all to stream music in flac format from the cloud? Which cloud services offer online storage of flac files, while being compatible with Sonos?
How do I know what generation are my sound bar, sub, play 3s, and play 5s? Can I tell from the serial number or another product identifier?
Every home automation company I have talked to is advising against the idea of using Sonos with a projector at all. I would like to make it work in order to avoid paying for Savant/Control 4, and so I can have it work with all of the other Sonos speakers I plan on having around the house. What is the best way to go about this? My plan is below, will it work? Epson 5050ub is connected to Apple TV 4k via HDMI. Apple TV connected to Sonos 5.1 (playbar, sub, 2 back speakers for surround) via Airplay or optical (using adapter at Apple TV). Based on what I have seen on here, I believe this should work. What do you think? Is there a better way? Is Airplay or optical better for this application? Thanks!
I’m being offered a 30% discount for trading up my Legacy Connect: Amps and Play:5 but not my Bridge. Is there a reason for that?
I have just removed my bridge from my setup and all working fine on a wireless basis. This was originally due to the bridge failing (it was actually the power line (which can be replaced)). Is there any alternative use for the bridge eg to extend wifi? Any polite thoughts appreciated.
I am a Sonos customer for many years and happy with it. In recent years, I had to get a hearing aid and am researching a way to connect it via bluetooth to my Sonos, so that I can control my hearing through it, without upsetting the neighbours…. I read that the CONNECT box has an Analogue output that I could connect a Bluetooth device to be paired with my ear buds… But it seems: The connect box is an old technology The Analaogue output is not via a 3.5mm plug and all Bluetooth I can find require that type of interface So, what are my options?
My beam has stopped working on my Samsung tv. I can play music from iPhone ok. I tried using a new hdmi cable but that didn’t help. The anynet + is switched on on my tv. I haven’t done anything different & it just stopped working. What can I do?
Anyone care to share his/her experience? Sound quality, possible delays, anything worth while mentioning? Replacing my Arcam amplifier with the Connect should preferably not result in material, notable loss of sound quality. Because that will trigger disappointment and frustration.
