I have just ordered a Sonos Move and wish to use it possibly as a party speaker and was wondering how loud it can actually get-would it be able to be loud enough to hear the music over people shouting and conversing at the same time?

Perhaps see this independent review/comparison of the Sonos Move versus the Sonos One. It mentions volume etc…

A single small speaker such as MOVE will probably not be effective at a noisy party, but this is an individual judgement.

I will point out that WiFi is absorbed by water. Humans are mostly bags of water. MOVE is a WiFi speaker. Therefore, as the room fills with bags of water, MOVE may not function well. If you mount MOVE above the water bag area and in direct view of the wireless access point, probability of success increases dramatically. Unfortunately, it is difficult to test this in advance. As a side note: while testing the results of an acoustic redesign, rather than bringing in a bunch of human bodies and paying them to sit for endless hours while the hall was tuned, the engineers brought in bags of potatoes to simulate an audience.
