I have been a SONOS customer for the past 6 years almos. I was very happy...A month ago, I moved from Windows to Linux on my desktop PC, I tried Wine under Linux and removed it.I am using currently NOSON as a replacement desktop controller under Linux, but - I have a lot of music stored locally and can’t find a way to play that, as I used to during my Windows time…Any suggestions?ThanksAlex
I bought one of these yesterday but it doesn’t seem to do what I expected it to do. When I pair it with a speaker, and then group that speaker with other speakers, the remote then controls the overall volume of the group, not the volume of that individual speaker within the group. So it doesn’t behave like the volume control buttons on a speaker, as suggested by airgetlam in this (locked) thread: https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/sonos-speakers-are-getting-a-cheap-ikea-wireless-controller-6826398 How can I configure this device to control only an individual speaker, even when it is part of a group of speakers? Or is that simply not possible? If so then I am quite disappointed. I usually have the same music playing all over the house as I wander around, and my plan was to have one of these in each room. But if each one will simply change the overall volume for the entire group, it wouldn't really work.
Hey all, My bedroom has cathedral ceiling, approximately 15’ tall at the peak. Currently, I have a playbar located at one wall, placed dead center under the peak, so that the wall descends equally down on either side of the bar. Does anyone have any input if this setup will work with Atmos? If I replace the bar for an Arc. My concern is the obvious, I’ve read that you need a short level ceiling for Dolby Atmos to create a surround effect. will true play work with Atmos to perfect the surround effect in the room? Should I just stick with the playbar? will atmos work with cathedral ceilings 15’ high? i also have a sub in the room. thanks
Hi everyone, The kids (with the wife’s help) got me Bluetooth enabled Turntable for father’s day. I am wondering what would be the best way for me to use this with my Sonos system? I own a couple beams and the move (we also have the HomePod and Alexa). Do I need to get a Five or One SL to connect the turntable to then stream to the rest of the speakers?
Hi all- This may have been answered in a thread already, but I’m gonna go ahead and throw it out…I just purchased a Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB turntable – build amp & BT. I also purchased the Sonos One wired speaker – I thought this would have a re-chargeable battery – apparently it doesn’t but I’ll address that separately.I cannot get the turntable to connect with the speaker so I guess I’m missing something. The turntable will connect, thru BT, with my TV sound bar, but I want it to connect with the Sonos speaker so I can move the speaker wherever in my home I’d like while I re-live listening to vinyl records. Can someone tell me what I’m missing… please??in advance for the help…
I want to buy a Sonos Move and a bluetooth turntable. I was considering a Cambridge Audio Alva TT or a Yamaha Musicast Vinyl 500 Can anyone confirm that either of these are compatible with a Sonos Move or suggest a better turntable alternative.
Will we be able to see Dolby Atmos on Sonos Beam in the near future?
I just setup 2x Dali Motif LCR speakers with a Sonos Amp. The Dali speakers are nice and precise, but they have almost no low-frequency capability. I dug up an old Jamo passive subwoofer that has stereo input with normal speaker connectors (eg it has 4 connector). It is designed to pass the sound to two satellite speakers ( i guess it has some frequency filter internally), so it also has 4 output speaker terminals.Obviously I cannot connect it as a normal active sub, but I can connect it as a normal stereo speaker set.So basically I have 4 speaker cables, and I am wondering if its best to connect all 4 to the speaker terminals on the Amp, or if I should connect only the subwoofer, and then connect the Dali speakers to the subwoofer.
Audiophilia three month Arc follow up (install & Sound)
I am happy with my s1 controller. My system works fine and integrates well with Alexa. Having read the multiple negative reviews of S2, I merely want to hold off at least in upgrading to it. But the problem is that when I open my Sonos s1 app, I cannot access any of its features because there is an upgrade screen that I cannot get past. Why on earth would Sonos not at least allow people to keep the s-1 application functional? How can I get past the upgrade screen? Under the "other options' menu there is only "reset" and I'm afraid to try that lest It screw up my existing s1 application.
Dear All,I am thinking of buying a Devolo Magic 2 WIFI NEXT but I would like first to check the Compatibility with my SONOS system. (AMP,, P1, P5, Boost) ThanksAndrea
I can’t get the volume buttons to work on the sky q remote to increase or decrease sound. It did work fine in both rooms with a beam but now not working in either.Tried setting up in sky settings but won’t recognise Sonos and Sonos app says remote connected any suggestions, thx
I have been running my system on S1 seeing as I had a bridge and Play5 not comparable. I have a number of devices so took the advantage of upgrading those products (still waiting for the Play5) but have removed the old Play5 from the network. I installed the new Boost and then updated the system to use S2.All working except, my playbar/sub/s1-surrounds group. I have them connected for use with the TV (Home Theater) as well as being able to use them for music from the Sonos app. They worked fine with S1, but all I can get to work with S2 is the Playbar. When I select the room, I can see the 4 units in the group and can see controls for EQ-Sub and Surrounds but changing any of the setting for Sub or surrounds does nothing. I have removed the Sub and the Surrounds from the group and then set then up again but still the same issue, they don't work. If I remove the Playbar I can then get the Sub and the Surrounds to work. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get these working together agai
Hey all – love my Sonos system and I’ve been slowly adding to it over time. Thinking about adding the Sub eventually to my living room TV. Obviously, watching a movie or listening to music with the volume around 40 to 50% I’d expect to hear a huge improvement with the bass. But, how’s the Sub at lower volumes? Say 20%? Does it still feel like it’s adding a new dimension? My current setup is a Beam for the soundbar and two Play 1’s as the rear speakers.
I saw this questions asked a few times so here’s an updated one as the tech / adapters get better. I’ll keep y’all informed if there’s any updated news or workarounds that work for me. In the meantime, if y’all have any suggestions, please help :) Original thread and replies along w/ pictures: https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/iie1d8/tech_request_sonos_beam_w_3rd_party_subwoofer/----Hi everyone,I'm looking for some tech help on how to connect a [[[Sonos Beam x 3rd party subwoofer]]].I've tried with two brands so far: 1. Need to know if there is a replacement grill for them sonus move
Setup the Beam/Sub to a Samsung Plasma TV via optical, not ARC; disabled TV speaker and set to external; followed Sonos procedure to set DirecTV Genie RF remote and all work fine except that the remote is sending a volume control signal to the Beam and the TV and I get a “Not Available” message. The Sonos Controller app sent me to a support page with lots of different remotes and how to fix the problem. I navigated to my Genie remote to follow the instructions, and I get to Step 6 “setup program audio device”, but I do not get that option. I can Pair/Program Remote and I can see Program TV; I can IR/RF Setup that tells me to press the mute and “enter” buttons to start pairing; or I can reset the remote. What am I missing? What do I need to do to get my Genie Remote to reset itself to not send a volume control signal to the TV?
I’ve been a Sonos owner for since 2015. I have 15 Sonos devices in my Sonos system consisting of Play:1, Play:3, Connect, Sub, Playbar. The system worked beautifully. I always bragged about my awesome Sonos system. Then I "upgraded" to Sonos S2. What a mistake. My awesome Sonos system has been rendered almost unusable. I don’t really want to spend hours troubleshooting a system that worked perfectly before I upgraded. How can I downgrade back to Sonos S1 if I have upgraded all my devices? Thanks for the help.
Hi, I have a Sonos Move and I find it almost impossible to connect a new mobile device to the speaker. In other words, if a friend wants to connect his phone to play music it is such a struggle that we usually just give up. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.
Once paired, is there anyway to identify the left and right speaker? I suppose I could unpair them, repair them and then put a mark or sticker on one, but there should be an easier way.
I am trying to hook my Sonos Arc to my Xbox one S. I have an HDMI running to a projector. Since the projector is on the back wall and the Xbox (hidden behind screen), and the Sonos speaker are on the front wall, I am trying to run audio straight fromthe Xbox to the Arc. I used the provided HDMI to S/PDIF to connect the speaker to the Xbox but I can’t figure out in the Xbox settings to send video through the HDMI to the projector, and audio through the S/PDIF to the Arc. Help!
I just bought a Sonos One. Every night, I use it to AirPlay from my Mac throughout the house for about an hour. I’ve got an Apple TV and other AirPlay speakers as well as the Sonos One. Every night, everything streams great to all speakers, but during the hour, once or twice, the Sonos One will all of a sudden fall out of sync with the other speakers in the house and experience a slight delay. When this occurs, I have to run to the computer, deselect the Sonos One, reselect it, and then everything is back is sync for a other 20 or 30 minutes, until it happens again. This happens every time I stream to all speakers. What is causing this and how can I fix it?
Hi all, I installed my Arc in an open living room. I've a wall at the right side of the TV, it’s open on the left.I so have quite good stereo effects on the right, not much on the left.I’m thinking of using a wood board or something which I could install easily when watching a movie, and remove afterI don’t know exactly how sound reflexions work, so where to place it, and what should be the ideal size in order to have the best effects, without too much clutter. It just for stereo, I already have a Sub and 2 rear Play 3. Thanks for your help
Hi!I noticed that when Sonos speaker plays music via Spotify Connect and Sleep Timer is set up, when it’s time to sleep, speaker just decrease volume to zero but does not pause music. So music from Spotify continue playing with zero volume. I think this is kind of bug and if Spotify will play hours without any interruptions it will influence to my Spotify recommendations.
My company has implemented a management profile to require AirPlay Codes when connecting via AirPlay. I’ve seen other post which recommend turning that requirement off but it’s not possible for my situation (I’m guessing others have the same requirement). My question is: why can’t the SONOS MOVE (or other SONOS devices) speak the code so we can enter it and not have this issue? Is this a development request? If not, how can we recommend it? Thank you
