What are the room size dimensions that are ideal for Sonos Beam? I have only seen it as described as filling a small to medium room size but no actual dimensions. I can surmise what the ideal dimensions are from the standard bedroom size but has anyone seen anything from sonos with actual recommended dimensions?
Quit taking our money.. fix it ... what’s the deal?
Recently we added another couch to our living room and now only one sitting area has rear speakers. I would like to see the ability to add another rear speaker pair.
I have Philips Hue with Smart Bulbs throughout my home. Majority of commands for lights are given through my Sonos One's and Beam. I have a lamp on one of two night stands in bedroom that was not responding to commands. Checked the Alexa app and it showed "Light unresponsive". Quick Fix was to remove/re-install the bulb. Took all of a minute and everything was back to normal. Commands through Sonos One worked. As I said this is a quick fix and doesn't rule out a defective bulb. It wasn't Wi-Fi as the light on the opposite night stand responded to commands (besides I run in Boost mode for Sonos). Just thought I'd share the experience. Cheers!
I recently bought two HomePods with the expectation that I'd be able to stream audio from my Mac (not only iTunes, but from other apps like Chrome while watching Netflix) to a stereo pair of HomePods. I've sinced learned that this isn't supported. If I replaced these HomePods with Play 5s or Sonos Ones, could I do this?
My PC-based contoller loses connection with the Sonos network from time to time and I also get messages that my connection with my wireless network printer is getting lost. I'm wondering whether the wireless link with the printer and link with the Sonos network are conflicting somehow?
I've been going back and forth about beam vs. playbar and was (finally) leaning beam. Yesterday I was casually measuring below the TV to see how the beam might look and my wife saw and responded, "THAT'S how it would look?!" She wasn't a fan. We have a 65 in TV. Has anyone else thought about how the beam would look mounted against larger TVs? Does it/would it have any impact on your decision?
I can start playing music on my controller (iOS 12), on both Apple Music and Spotify. However, the controller does not show what music is playing, and I can't stop playback using the controller with the regular controls. I can only stop it with the buttons on the speaker, and by deselecting my room in the controller. I have submitted diagnostic report no 1127951674. I have 2 Sonos One configured as a stereo pair. I initiate playback using the controller app, search function, from Spotify, Apple Music or the phone's library, with the same result. This is what the controller looks like (while the speakers are playing):
Hello, Bit of a strange problem. Every once in a while grouping two rooms fails but only when I want to play TV. Setup: Sonos Beam + 2x Sonos Play 1s (surround mode) is room 1 2x Sonos Play 5 (1st Gen) is room 2 Sonos Boost for the separate network (to prevent interference) Since the possibility of delaying TV audio, the lip sync problem is gone and when it works, it works great. However, sometimes the audio disappears from room 2. No matter what I do, it will not come back without resetting the entire (!) setup. If I select music as the input, all is fine and the rooms group without problems. Going back to TV input and the grouping is gone. Diagnostic report: 1531067030 (TV input - no sound on room2) Diagnostic report: 1171627492 (Audio input, grouping working just fine) Would be great to get a quick fix for this, as resetting the system is a royal PITA. Thanks! Henk
I bought a sonos one speaker last week and was blown away by the quality. I wanted to expand my collection. I am still a student, so i can't buy all speakers i want at the same time. i am doubting between buying a sub and buying a play:5. the play:5 would replace the play one. the sub would be added to the play one and I might add another one later on. buying a sub (and an one) is far more expensive though. The bass on the play one is just too little for some songs, i heard great things about the base of a play:5 eventhough the sub would be deeper. so my question: is it worth investing in the sub (and later on a one), or will a single play:5 (gen 2) be more than enough? (I will mainly use it to listen to music)
I recently added a Sonos Beam to my existing Sonos setup. I moved two Sonos Play:1 to create the surround sound group and connected the Sonos Beam via the optical adapter to a Samsung UE40H5303AK TV. The audio/video source is a fourth-generation Apple TV also connected to the Samsung TV via a HDMI 2.0 cable. With the configuration: Apple TV > HDMI > Samsung TV > Optical Adapter/HDMI > Sonos Beam the audio input to the Sonos Beam (verified through status page on the iOS app) is always and only "Stereo". If "Dolby 5.1" is forced on the Apple TV instead of "Best available quality", there's no audio output at all. In this situation I assumed it was a problem of the television that does not have the audio passthrough on the HDMI. So I decided to buy an SPDIF/HDMI splitter (that supports HDMI 2.0, 4K and 3D) in order to separate the audio from the video component before entering the TV. With the configuration: > Video HDMI > Samsung
I am planning to take Sonos Beam to India from US . Is there any issues in terms of connection , Alexa and audio quality.. common issue related to Sonos Beam in India
A couple of features I think are absolutely necessary for this system. I have 15+ speakers in a couple different rooms and would love the ability to control the volume more accurately through the app. 1-Mute button. Hit it once and the volume is locked so that it will not go up/down based on group volume changes (when speakers are grouped) Hit the mute button again and it mutes the speakers as it does now. Another way to do this is to create a sub group of speakers in a larger group that are playing the same source but have a different volume, sound, etc. 2- Preset volume limits. I have a couple Play One/1's in sensitive, smaller areas. I would like those to have a set limit volume. (Again, this is when in a group) When the group volume is changed, the volume of these specific speakers would not change.
I have replaced my Samsung TV with a Sony XBR65X900E unit. I have turned off the TV speakers on the Sony and have sound coming out of the Sonos playbar only. The TV remote is not controlling the volume level. The Samsung had no issue with controlling the volume. Is this a Sony design feature/issue or am I missing/misconfigured a setting on the TV.
Hi, I am setting up a new home with a 5.1 setup in the living room. The TV is inside a furniture that has a cabinet underneath, and the cabinet doors are slated for ventilation of electronics. I attached an image of the furniture,I wanted to put the Sub in the cabinet underneath the TV, But the cabinet is only 35 cm hight, so I can't put it standing. I was wondering if I can put the Sonos Sub laying flat inside the a cabinet?
Where can I purchase a replacement power cord for a Sonos Boot? My puppy chewed it and I've not been able to use my Sonos!
I have an account with my Play 1 speaker... and would like to create another account so my roomate can play music that's on his Apple Music Library, etc How do i do that? Thank you
I've finally finished my investment into getting two Play:1's and a SUB. I just want to share my experience with it for anyone that is curious. How does it sound? Was the SUB setup easy? Does adding the SUB make a huge difference to just two Play:1's? How does it compare to a Play:5? 1 Play:1 in mono Firstly, I lets start with my thoughts on a single, mono Play:1. It sounds phenomenal for a speaker that size. I borrowed my brother's iPhone to Trueplay tune it, and as I have it on my desk in the corner in my room it seriously reduced the bass resonance, and tightened up the mids and removed a lot of muffling in the vocals too! The Play:1 kicks hard especially with a 3.5" woofer. This setup originally got me into Sonos as my parents bought one for the kitchen and I had to get one of my own! I was so impressed I could only guess as to how great a stereo pair would sound... Stereo Play:1's So I got a second Play:1, and tried out the stereo. I hit play on a random track in the UK
I'm having 2 sonos one in stereo setup. ok-ish for music from laptop but netflix and other videos are complete desaster. They're setup through my wifi, connected to latest macbook pro and the sound is lagging by about 3s which is completely unacceptable. anything I can do?
Looking to jump into the Sonos world. Best Buy close to my house has play 3’s open box for $189 and play 1’s open box for $125. I’d prefer a pair for stereo sound. Primary use will be in the living room, which is fairly large. Is it worth the extra $64 to step up to the play 3. I’m not that interested in the Sonos one as we have several echo and dots in our home and don’t need Alexa built in.
Greetings. For the last year I have been using BOTH my DirectTV RC73 and my standard LG TV remote (not a Magic remote) to control the volume on my Playbase. It worked perfectly using either one I grabbed. However, my DirecTV remote died yesterday and I had to get a new one. I don't remember what I did originally to make them both work with the Playbase. But they did and it IS possible. Right now, I can only get either one to work, not both. Can anyone with a solution please respond with clear instructions on how I can again use both remotes to control Playbase volume. Please don't respond if you are going to say only one remote can be used at a time, etc. Thank you so very much!!
Has anyone been able to get Netflix in 5.1 audio using the Chromecast and Beam? If so, how? I have HDMI ARC to the Beam. The TV i'm using is Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus compatible. Google Movies streams in 5.1 (for titles with 5.1) - confirmed with About systems report on Sonos app. Tested Netflix with Stranger things (which reportedly has 5.1) and the About System reports that the audio is stereo and no option under Audio and subtitles to change to 5.1. Thanks for anyone's help on this.
I have just purchased an LG OLED TV model C8. I have connected my Playbar using TV optical out (and I also have Play 3 surrounds and a Sub). Everything is working fine except I can’t control the volume using the TV remote - it’s greyed-out. I can only control the volume using the Sonos app on my iPhone or iPad. This is rather frustrating and inconvenient. Is there any way I can set things so that I can control volume with the TV remote. I was able to do this with my previous TV - a Samsung Smart Tv. Thanks
When are sonos going to bring an update for the Beam soundbar? Sinc issue needs sorting as does dolby digital output.
When, oh when will you have outdoor speakers? Love my Sonos system, it it is incomplete without outdoor speakers.
