I have replaced my Samsung TV with a Sony XBR65X900E unit. I have turned off the TV speakers on the Sony and have sound coming out of the Sonos playbar only. The TV remote is not controlling the volume level. The Samsung had no issue with controlling the volume. Is this a Sony design feature/issue or am I missing/misconfigured a setting on the TV.

Have you changed the orientation of the playbar recently?
The PlayBar was configured to operate with the Samsung remote, it's not going to work with the Sony remote unless you teach it! You have to go through the Sonos app and reconfigure the playbar remote settings. Go to the Sonos app, then select the room the playbar is in and look TV Setup tab and then at the bottom Remote Control Setup, click on photo below
I have had this problem occur after it had previously OK. Cause was tracked down to the fact that the IR receiver is in the far right of the soundbar and was behind a pillar on my tv stand. Moving it 2 cm to the left fixed the problem
Laugh. Which "it" did you move? The soundbar, the pillar, or the TV stand? 🙂
