Just curious. I'd like to stream my CD player music to my Play5 + Beam speakers. Normally the CD player is wired to my amplifier which is wired to my DynAudio speakers. No wireless function. Yet Is there a way by using AMP to stream the CD directly to my Sonos speakers? Frankly I doubt there is and if I'm right what are then the benefits of AMP? Thx.
Question : I'm thinking of using the amp alongside a home recording setup. Does anyone know if there's noticeable lag when using photo for audio in - particularly as it would feed into a Sonos-net?
If you connect the new AMP (via HDMI ARC or optical) to a TV as the front L,R speakers does the Sonos create a synthesized center channel or does it only provide a stereo pair for the TV? If only a stereo pair, can the existing TV built-in speaker (limited as it is) provide a true center channel or are the internal speakers always disabled completely when optical out or HDMI ARC out is in use? Secondly, the setup guide says "Use Amp with third-party speakers to add surround sound if you already have a Sonos home theater speaker (Beam, Playbase, Playbar, or another Amp) connected to your TV" so: Can I use one Amp as the primary L,R speakers connected to the TV with HDMI ARC or optical and then use a SECOND Amp connected over the wireless network to be the Surround L and Surround R speakers? This is implied, but the setup guide is very terse and doesn't explicitly provide any more information on this. Basically, if I want a full 5.1 surround sound system but using my own s
I have a Sony XBR-55X930E TV, wired with ARC HDMI to Sonos Amp.....and I get nothing..... The TV sees the ARC as HDMI 3 input only. I can disable speakers, but nothing comes out of Sonos connected speakers. EVERYTHING is hard wired.
I see Sonos now has ceiling speakers. I have other sonos products, including the sonos connect amp, play 1's, soundbar, etc. My question is if these ceiling speakers can connect to the existing sonos connect amp I already use or do I need another amp for the ceiling speakers? thank you
I made the mistake and invested in multi room Sonos system comprises of play 5s and 1s. The two Play 5 speakers are configured in stereo mode in the living room installed over dedicated stands. One of the Play 5 stopped connecting to the network. Sonos “generous” response (after exauhsting me with tons of checks, reports, etc etc) was to offer me a replacement for 400 Euros !!! They claimed they will send me the gen2 speaker. As I have a stereo pair and already invested in stands I just wanted to repair the faulty speaker. They responded that they cannot repair and were suggesting to replace both speakers for 1158 Euros. I am soooooo upset. Seriously looking into returning the new Play1s and sell the other Play 5. All I can say - Don’t buy Sonos !!

Hi guys, I've got a pioneer amp with really nice Proac Stereo speakers and a Dali Vokal Centre speaker. I also have pioneer surrounds and a Yamaha Sub. I've just moved into a new apartment and don't want to run cables from the front where the tv/amp/LCR is to the back where the Yamaha sub & Pioneer surrounds are. I already have a Sonos Play 1 and would like to buy a Sonos One and Sub to use as surrounds and sub - how would I be able to use that with my traditional LCR/Amp? It looks like the connect only has a stereo analog in which apparently has a 75ms lag - I use this system to listen to music in Stereo with a sub and watch tv (from Apple TV - hdmi from tv>optical from ATV to amp) in surround sound. Is this possible at all? Maybe with connect and the new Sonos amp I could power the back stereo and sub - again the lag would be a problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I have not added to my Sonos system for some time but last week i purchased a new Play 1 to create a stereo pair in one of the rooms. No issues with pairing or playing anything etc and the software has been updated. But what i have noticed is that the LED status light is considerably brighter on the new speaker than it is on the older one. The only difference i can see is the Hardware Versions but this shouldn't make a difference? Existing Play 1 Hardware Version: 1.8.3.7-2 New Play:1 Hardware Version: 1.20.1.6-2 Is the difference in LED brightness normal? Thx
I am wanting to buy a sonos system. I mainly want to use it for a surround sound home theater system. I love watching movies and want my own theater experience. I was told using 2 play:1's as the rear speakers would be perfect, allng with the playbar and sub. But I keep reading that the play:5's have the best sound and the deepest base. Is 't that what you would want for a good theater, surround sound system? Or would play:1's be enough?
Like many others, I'm struggling with my Sonos speakers while watching movies or TV. I have to turn it way up to hear dialogue and then turn it down when there is an action sequence or music. Looks as if this has been a problem for years now and I'm wondering if Sonos has addressed this with any updates. And before you ask if I've tried night mode or adjusting my EQ, the answer is yes, but it's not fixing the problem. The big question is why would you need to do that in the first place? If this is a big issue for so many, why not just make this work out of the box? Either that, or just STOP telling people this works as a surround sound...because you know what, it just doesn't. Any NEW ideas or expected fixes for this? If not, I'm ready to move away from Sonos.
When playing my sonos play 1( I have to them together) using true play at low volumes on certain songs it sounds distorted and occasionally you get a pop which I think is a safety cut out. If you turn trueplay off sounds much better and you can increase the volume Any ?
After expending about $3000.00 US on my system I am told that I need a phone to set it up.. who does this to their customers ??? No phone no setting up my system.Really SONOS ???
Hey, I’ll get straight to it - Sonos is not playing (ie in sleep mode) Play / Pause button is pressed Q: what will it start to play? (I remember reading somewhere it will start playing the last playlist/music it was before it was turned to sleep’ I can’t remember where I saw this - geez maybe I’m imagining it, just thought I’d would ask you all). If anyone has the reference for the answer to this can you please post? Cheers! 😉
I was wondering if it was possible to make the speakers have a lower volume. For very low background music. The lowest setting still seems too loud. Otherwise, I am really enjoying the SONOS experience. 😃
The lowest volume is too high. I'd like to make use of the sleep-function of the play 3. Works flawlessly, but the lowest volume is still too high. Please set the lowest volume to be less loud, so i can fall asleep peacefully with some music.
I would like to be able to use the Sonos Android app to select music to play. I have my music on a DLNA server (MediaMonkey) and I am able to browse the library in my Sonos app. However, I'm only able to add songs to the queue one-by-one. I would like to be able to select an album and have it play the whole album (or everything from an artist or a playlist). Is there any way to do this with the Android app? I found this topic that has a similar question and has the following reply: Hi Tobbe, Using the Android Controller for Sonos you can go into the Music menu and select Windows Media servers, such as your UPnP server. You can add whole albums or individual tracks from the using that browser. To add multiple albums or tracks, you will have to add one two the queue, then the next. There isn't an option to select multiple tracks or albums to add from any source on the mobile controllers. ThanksI know this reply is very old, so the Android app has probably changed a lot... But I
Hi, I have a pair of PLAY:1s and control them via the Sonos app on my iPhone. My music is all held on a server with a UPnP app (Asset) doing the serving up music bit. The UPnP server has various playlists exported from iTunes and JRiver Media Center which I can access from my other media devices (eg Denon CEOL and Naim ND5 XS) either through an app or a remote control handset. Either option gives me the feature to play all songs on the playlist in either sequential or random order. However I can't seem to find an equivalent 'play all' option on the Sonos app. I can add the playlist to 'My Sonos' but that still doesn't give me a 'play all' option, it seems to want me to add each song individually to the play queue. I know that can't be right so what am I missing? Any help most welcome as it's starting to drive me nuts 😞
There's a key issue with the Playbase, which is marketed for both Music and TV: the EQ settings required for music are very different to the EQ settings required for TV; however the Playbase offers only one setting and requires updating by me each time. A device as smart as Sonos should be able to allow two EQ settings which auto-switch depending on what's being played. Here's more detail: For Music, my house seeks a warm response with a good amount of bass. To achieve this we set: - bass at unity - treble reduced by around 4 notches - loudness off, true tuning off For TV we want voice to come through clearly without being drowned by the bass, and without being too harsh. Here’s what we do: - bass reduced by 4 notches - treble reduced by 1 notch - loudness off, true tuning off, speech enhancement off What is necessary is that the above two EQ settings can be set up: - One for when the Playbase is receiving audio from the optic fibre (i.e. from the TV) - One for wher
Hi there, I have been searching around for an answer on this, and I am not sure. Help much appreciated. - I already have a good Denon AV Receiver with 5.1 set up. However, I want to have wireless rear speakers - If I buy a Sonos Connect and two Sonos Play:1's can I hook the Sonos Connect to my AV Receiver - And then have the two Play:1s talking to the Sonos Connect so I get true 5.1 sound delivered to the rears wirelessly? - I would also like to have my turntable hooked up to the same Sonos Connect, but I am not sure if I'd be able to do this as well? Hopefully this makes sense! Any help appreciated.
I’m suspicious that a new play 3 is coming. Sonos has been out of stock for weeks!
I have a Play 5 that, I think, has blown the bass. In the low range of songs played loudly (not full volume), I get bad vibrations. Is there troubleshooting I can do? Anyone else experience?
I have 7 Sonos dotted around my house. I enjoy the music filling the house so generally have "Play Everywhere" set, have all speakers in the same group and simple adjust the volumne as required (including muting rooms where I don't want music). I want the Sonos in the toilet to turn on when I enter the bathroom and turn off when I leave afterwards. If other speakers are playing then I would like the toilet speaker to simply "unmute" and then "mute" again, joining the music in the rest of the house. If other speakers are not playing the I would like JUST the toilet speaker to "play" and then "pause" (I don't want other speakers to emmit sounds). - The logic is simple however I need to know whether the other speakers are playing or not. - And I need to have the ability, based on this info, to either "Play/Pause" the toilet speaker or "Unpause/Pause" JUST the Toilet speaker Does Sonos API share this information And what tool would allow me to control it? (Triggers w
Is this a new era of Sonos post IPO where we are going to be faced with planned obsolescence to try and make share holders happy? This 10+ year customer and shareholder (who used to have more $$ in his portfolio before buying SONO) is excited to invest in Sonos, but was truly scared about how the IPO would destroy the things people loved most about Sonos. So the question is, did Apple make Airplay 2 so f'ing complicated that we need Quantum computing to transfer audio from an iOS device or is Sonos looking to start the feature game to try and force me to upgrade the Connect: Amp in my bedroom to a new Amp? It's cool.... I'll have my wife play her Podcast to the hallway outside my sleeping kids bedrooms, Group the zones, then go back in and mute the hallway. Any chance there can be an "Airplay2 Receiver" that can show up as a Source? FYI - Having music playing on my Android device to ANY zone in the house still sounds FANTASTIC as things always do on my Sonos gear.
Hello, I'll start off with admitting I'm now tech dumb following a body/brain injury leaving me disabled. I currently own a surround set up in my main house consisting of two wall mounted play 3's (as rears), playbar under my Samsung, and a sub... and LOVE the experience ! I am now in the middle of setting up a mancave I built for the purpose of a billiards room in a separate room (50+ ft from house) that is 21 ft long x 13.5 ft wide x 10 ft high, drywalled and insulated with Roxul, w/ insulated subfloor and a tight berber carpet with thick under-padding, all housed at one end of my 30 x 50 shop. I have an IT specialist working things out with Sonos to create an acceptable/compatible/workable separate network in 'The Cave' with my annoying wireless broadband: Xplornet My question to the community: (I already know it's overkill, but it's how I play, and my goal with this room is to play pool while fully immersed in rich FULL sound at any volume anywhere one is position
