I have not added to my Sonos system for some time but last week i purchased a new Play 1 to create a stereo pair in one of the rooms.
No issues with pairing or playing anything etc and the software has been updated. But what i have noticed is that the LED status light is considerably brighter on the new speaker than it is on the older one.

The only difference i can see is the Hardware Versions but this shouldn't make a difference?

Existing Play 1 Hardware Version: 1.8.3.7-2
New Play:1 Hardware Version: 1.20.1.6-2

Is the difference in LED brightness normal?

Thx

Hi, silkit. Welcome to the community. LED lights dim with time. As opposed to other bulbs that extinguish altogether at the conclusion of their life-cycle, LED lights will gradually change in terms of brightness. I can only attribute it to that.
