Hi, Today Sonos announced the S2 software for their latest speakers. Will the Play:1 and Play:3 speakers be compatible with the S2 release?

I currently have a Play 5 (Gen 1) and just use it to stream music from my Sonos app.  But I would like to connect BOTH a CD player and turntable.  Not sure how to do this. Thanks!

Hi all, I’m new to Sonos Community and just bought the Arc as my first product since it had Atmos support and good reviews. I’m a general noob when it comes to these things.    However I’m not sure how to get Atmos to actually run. My Sonos app shows the audio as just Dolby Digital 5.1 no matter what I do.  It never shows Atmos playing.  I’m running an LG CX and the Sonos ARC over eArc. I have audio set to go through hdmi out(which is the Sonos ARC) and all 4 of the  HDMI’s audio outputs are set to bitstream. My setup is Sonos Arc by itself no Sub or surround speakers.    Was trying to Watch Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime Video via FireTV stick 4k.    The TV show supports ATMOS and so does the fire tv and the prime video app and my LG CX TV even has native Dolby Atmos decoding and supports passthrough. It even shows audio outputting as Atmos on the Prime TV show.     I know that Atmos format itself is a container and streaming services use Dolby digital plus as the track. So my questio

I just installed my new Sonos Arc on my older Samsung TV via the optical cable (only option as there is NO HDMI-ARC on this older TV).    I have other Sonos Ones in the house with Aiexa already and they work fine.  During the Sonos install of the Beam, is stated that it linked with Alexa.    The Alexa function does not work at all on the Arc.  The iight for the microphone is not on.  The Arc does not respond at all to Alexa commands.  How do I debug / fix this?   I expected I would have normal Alexa functions (ask weather, or news) and be able to control the Arc Volume with Alexa as I do on the Sonos Ones.  Please advise - Thanks!

I’m a bit lost on this.  I have a new Sonos Arc. I Have it hooked up to my Samsung tv which has eARC. I have an Apple TV. I am getting Atmos from the Apple TV Netflix and also Dinsey +. However oddly, the my iTunes movies which say they are Atmos are not coming through in Atmos and default to Dolby 5.1. Why would it play the other services from Apple TV with Atmos but not iTunes movies I have bought ?

Hello! So unfortunately, I’ve got a pretty old TV with an ARC port that tops out at stereo output rather than 5.1 (it’s a Panasonic VT65 plasma). I’m currently using the onboard speakers and I’m interested in getting the Arc and Sub as an upgrade. First off, I’m aware I won’t be getting Atmos with this setup (it’s a good excuse to upgrade my TV in the near future though...) But the onboard speakers just aren’t cutting it at all (especially for movies). My question is whether the Arc will process the frequencies from stereo sources effectively, e.g. will it direct the lower frequencies to the sub and separate the left and right channels in a way that gives me a good audio experience? I suspect it will, as a lot of content out there is stereo only, so I imagine it’s built with that in mind.  My concern though is that it’s going to take the signal, only utilise two drivers in the soundbar, and disregard the sub entirely.  Is the Arc capable of ‘up-converting’ in this way? Our Sonos set up: We have nine Sonos units around the house. All are "S1" and all are currently working on ver 10.3 They are controlled by eight android tablets, all running the Sonos App V10.3.  Most tablets are have a "final update available" of Android 6 (none more recent), an odd one or two are still Android 5. ie we cannot update the android versions without replacing the tablets (which is a total waste). Issue Every time Sonos is opened on one the tablets the user gets a "red button" with the suggestion to "update". If someone presses "update" on an android 6 tablet controller will it a) Update to the most recent version COMPATIBLE with android 6 b) Update to Sonos version 11 on the Sonos units, try AND FAIL to update the android tablets, leaving the tablets with less than full control If a) Great If b) Can I disable the "update" option, because the tablet controllers are used by all the household (and a red button can be very tempting to a teenager or his friend) Finally, if we 

I just set up a pair of new Sonos Five (2020) and updated the app to S2. Everything went smoothly. Then I went to add Alexa via the app, got into the Alexa app on an Ipad, it discovered the Sonos and added them fine but when I try to use it, nothing happens. I still can control the Sonos via separate Amazon echo device but not directly via built in Alexa. I tried to delete and rediscover method but it did not help. Is it the S2 app problem, Sonos skill for Amazon outdated or do I need to try something else? Thanks.

Looking to purchase an Arc but have a good 3rd party subwoofer with my existing system. Rather than buying a Sonos Sub, wondering if I can purchase a Sonos Connect:Amp and connect the subwoofer to that and create a grouped system?

Hi I'm thinking of getting a Sonos Arc for my lounge. There are no side walls either side of the TV although we have a 2 meter odd ceiling. Does the arc rely on side walls or does it only bounce sound off of ceilings and the wall behind the sofa? Any guidance appreciated

I have a pair of Gen 1 Play:5s. Can I hook these up to a Port and use them with S2?  

I’m a new Spotify member.  Can I use crossfade when playing to my Sonos speakers?  If not, it’s a pretty useless service for me.

I have a CD, turnable, and tape deck connected to a Marantz NR1506.  I was thinking about getting a Port to accomplish two things, Keep an existing set of speakers connected to the receiver. Essentially using the receiver as a giant switch to be able to stream CDs, vinyl, and tapes to the rest of the house.  I believe running the Marantz PRE OUT to the Port IN should give me a line level. Using the Port to stream audio from elsewhere to the Marantz.  I believe running the Port OUT to a Marantz input should give me that.   This is a pretty weird (?) setup and was wondering if there were potential issues.     Thanks!

I pre-ordered a Sub gen 3 and it arrived last week (10th June) with the wrong power cable.   Contacted Sonos and new cable shipped which arrived today (15th June)   The new cable doesn’t fit snug in the power outlet and so I cannot power on the sub.   I have emailed support (it’s after 6pm) and have reply saying they will contact me in 7 days.   I am obviously gutted and will contact them again in the morning - anyone else have problems with power cable fitting on the new Sub gen3 or is it just me?

This morning, my ESET Antivirus reported a “suspicious file” found - sonos.controller.desktop.resources.dll and deleted it. So I tried a re-install, the same thing happens during install.

Sonos interoperability with Instagram

Hi All Have just taken delivery of my Sonos Arc and have a new TV coming as well. I was planning on hanging the Arc under the TV on my wall bracket but I have read that there needs to be a gap between the TV and the Arc which would leave the brackets visible. Is it a definite no to hanging it directly under the TV with no gap?  

There seem to be a lot of threads and conflicting pieces of information out there and looking to share what I know and get input from others.  For convention. Arc refers to the Sonos device and ARC to the protocol (they couldn’t have picked a more confusion name).  My TV is a Samsung Series 6. Nothing too fancy but a great device and has ARC but not eARC. I know there are many out there with similar setups.  I have an ATV 4K going —> HDMI 1 on the TV. I have the TV ARC going —> Sonos Arc.  With just the one input on the Arc I don’t see any other way to configure this.  I have the full UHD subscription in Netflix. I’ve tried a few films that I’m told have Atmos but I don’t see that showing in the Sonos app.  I’ve been told by some experts that ATV 4K can’t send this info (regardless if it’s Netflix or any other source) over ARC to the next device. As such, basically I can not expect any Atmos with my setup.  I’ve also read many posts explaining that people are getting Atmos

I already own two S1 speakers. Is it possible to pair them with a Play 5 Gen 2? And is this a good option for a good back yard/ patio party sound with some decent kick for our wedding? Or is there a better option? Thanks in advance.

I have reached out to OREI regarding two of their products that indicate they both support HDMI-ARC (Audio Return Channel) - either the UHD-402 or UHDS-402A. My TV has an HDMI-ARC output but delivers a audio lag to the Sonos Beam.  Up until now, I have been using a Cable DVR with two outputs for my source.  The Optical output from my Cable DVR to the Beam (with the Optical/HDMI adapter) and the HDMI output from the Cable DVR goes to the TV.  I also want to be able to connect additional sources such as BluRay or a streaming like Roku or Chromecast. Three questions: Will this idea of extracting the HDMI-ARC work with the Beam? Anyone have experience with either of these two products? I can’t really understand how thinking has gone when possibilities for controlling both TV and Sonos product is going in the wrong direction when a new product, Arc, is launched. Since I only have access to ip-TV and need to use HDMI for connection from box to TV I cannot use HDMI ARC. The old Playbar was still possible to control via Samsung remote and digital output but there is no response whatsoever with Arc. Disappointing development when I went out of my way to exchange my newly bought Playbars for new Arc?

Cannot work out how to set up up a stereo pair of 2 x new Sonos Five's as front speakers in a 5.1 setup, using playbar, sub and 2 x play 1 as rears. Can't find anyway to set the 2 x Fives's as front L&R and use playbar for speech, which is how a 5.1 system should be set-up? I can only add 2 x Fives's as fronts on their own, setting them up separately, when I pair them to the surround it sounds terrible. Says on Sonos Website that Fives's are suitable for use as surround speakers? Help! Looks like they will be going back to Sonos!

My other SONOS speakers are white, and I want to add a Move to my bathroom. I do NOT want a black speaker. Please make the Move in white. This would have been a day 1 buy for me if it was available.

I’m not intending to upgrade my Sonos kit anytime soon, as presently it does exactly what I want (and what I paid for). Clearly that means that my particular train has headed down the S1 track, rather than S2 (the only ‘new’ kit I have is a Boost, used to replace a Bridge). Question - has Sonos announced a minimum support period for S1 and associated kit? I’m thinking of something along the lines of “S1 software will be updated to run with new iterations of Windows, iOS and Android for at least 5 years” or similar. Have only asked re OS, obviously other stuff - TuneIn and other services is I guess a trickier question. I do have Play5 with line-in to PC, and a Connect (connected to a gramophone), so even if they pulled all the services from S1 eventually, I would at least be able to pipe music around my Sonos speakers via those two inputs. (Couldn’t find anything on this site by searching “S1 support period” - which I would imagine is the one question on many S1 user minds).
