Hey everyoneIs there anyone else here having issues with Roam? I do, and hasn’t stopped since I bought it. It lasts no more than a couple of days connected to WiFi and then I need to reconfigure it again. Battery doesn’t lasts as much as Sonos claims. Microphone can’t be turned on (I guess is because Roam gets disconnected from network).I have other three Sonos products which have no issues, but this little guy has really disappointed me. And yesterday I decided to call Customer Supports which really wasn’t helpful at all claiming that I have a network issue which it is not. I have my home with a lot of smart devices and none has a single problem with network.I do really want to take it back because it has really a waste of money. Any thoughts?

Initially there was the software issue on BT Halo, re: 5ghz/2.4ghz connection. Now, and worse recently, connecting to it using Airplay 2 (from 3 iPads, an iMac M1 and 2x iPhones) is a nightmare! Even the Sonos S2 app takes ages to find it, tries to ‘fix it’ and stumbles along. Even when it’s next to the router. I originally planned to buy two for stereo (the internet evidently says not yet on this one) & hoped that Sonos would improve it’s functionality with Beam to provide surround option like its other products. All software is up to date. But at the moment I can only successfully use it at our house in Spain as a patio speaker! And a very expensive one. 

I bought my sonos roam 3 weeks ago and have struggled with it left right and centre. As far as I can tell there are 4 main problems The first problem I found was that the audio would spontaneously drop out while listening to video and sometimes any audio that isn't played through the sonos app.  The second problem is that the bluetooth just doesn't work (excluding 2 days of it functioning last week) The third is that the sometimes the buttons just don’t do what they say they should do in the manual. Sometimes the power button doesn't work, the bluetooth never connects, the volume buttons sometimes don’t and I am yet to be able to use the smart assistant.  The final problem I have found is that the device can't pair with other SONOS speakers, of which I own 8. I also think that sonos needed to be clearer that this speaker would force customers to upgrade to the Sonos S2 app as I basically can't use my Play 5’s anymore because th

Been trying to us new Sonos roam for a couple of days now and it is just so frustrating.I have the same issues as may others already listed on here.Sound plays for a short time then stops, when looking at app it says everything still playing.Have tried support who suggest I reboot my router.Not sure how this can help as the issue happens on both Wi-Fi and bluetooth.  Had no issues with rest of my Sonos speakers.I’ve submitted another diagnostic 850834206.  This was during the issue, not sure what difference it will make as support said my last diagnostic was fine.What I can’t understand is that this is obviously a common and known issue since launch by the looks of this forum, yet there is no answer.  I’m not sure how this has not been mentioned in the many reviews I read prior to purchase.Looks like this may have to be a return as there doesn’t seem to be any answers here.

I recently got a Roam, and am running into trouble with AirPlay over WiFI. When moving my Roam around the house, I get audio drop-outs and stutters. This happens when I move the speaker, and isn’t affected by the location of the audio source.I have a an Eero mesh system that consists of two Eero Pros that are connected to one another via gigabit ethernet hardwired backhaul, and a third Eero Pro that is connected wirelessly. They are not running any of the experimental features and it’s been a rock solid system for literally years with multiple devices.I looked at the eero app, and lo and behold the Roam does not (wait for it) roam between access points. It picks the one that’s closest to it at power-on (or possibly, the one it was closest to when originally set up), and does not switch.It seems like it’s a known issue that the Roam does not move between WiFi access points per this comment in another thread: 

Hello all, I think I got a faulty Roam, it was working fine till today, the led light flashes red, if I hook it to the charger, its a solid red. I’ve tried to reset it by long oressing all the buttons to no avail, unfortunately it seems Sonos has no customer service over the weekend in the US, anyone run into this issue? Any thoughts on gow to fix it, or am I stuck with a faulty Roam? Thanks in advance!

Since I updated to 13.4 - (which on my beam +ones works great with DTS btw), I’m finding it simply impossible to get my Roam pair to establish a stable connection.I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve tried to setup again from factory - but I always get the same issue, one of the pair goes offline after about 30 seconds.I have 2 APs in my home and I’ve tried on one of them in case this could be the issue but same result.

Hardware:1 x Sonos Move, 2 x Sonos Play:1, 1 x IKEA SYMFONSIKNetgear Nighthawk Mesh, with 1 x MR60 (router) and 2 x MS60 (satellites) Interaction between a controlling device (iOS device, e.g.) and the Sonos Move:If a controller and Sonos Move are attached to the same MS60 (mesh satellite), the Sonos app on the controller CANNOT see the Sonos Move. If a controller and Sonos Move are NOT attached to the same MS60 (mesh satellite), the Sonos app on the controller CAN see the Sonos Move.The other Sonos devices are always visible to a controller, regardless of mesh device association.  This is consistently reproducible, and persists beyond repeated full resets of the Sonos Move.  HELP!

Having read many forum topics on how to diagnose and fix the ‘no power’ problem for Play 5 Gen 1’s i decided to try and bypass the AC to DC power components and power the speaker directly from batteries and thus create my own version of the Sonos Move!!

Has the stereo drop out, and it’s reliability, on Roam been resolved yet?

I am having trouble connecting to my Sonos Roam. My husband just got it for me and I was able to connect after opening it. But I could only listen to music in Sonos App. When I try to connect via Bluetooth, I hold the power button for over 5 minutes and still the light does not show up. Then after trying that it did not connect to my WiFi anymore. I reset my router but now I cannot connect. I hold down the play and forward button like instructed in the set up, but still nothing connects. Should I just take it back to the store and get a JBL or something?

I’ve noticed that our Roam stereo pair occasionally breaks every wk or 2 and forces us to re-pair them. Any idea why this is? Are they turning themselves off to save power and then forgetting their st. pair? Anyone else experience this?

I have just purchased a Sonos roam and am trying to group with the play/pause button method, it worked fine when we first got the roam but isn’t now. When I hold down the play/pause button I hear two tones, and then it immediately swaps the audio to the one rather than grouping them. If I try to let go before the second tone the music just pauses. Not sure what’s going on here, any advice? 

Hi. Ok, so my Sonos Roam is connected via bluetooth to my laptop. However, I need it to connect to my Sonos One via Wifi. When Roam is paired to laptop via bluetooth, the blue light is on (indicating paired I guess). However, i was expected it to simultaneously be connected to my Sonos One via wifi. That does not seem to be happening. Please don’t tell me this can’t work.Its literally the only reason I went with Sonos (to connect via bluetooth from the Roam while both my Roam and One are synchronous via Wifi)

While trying to stereo pair a set of roams when no internet is available the app says to check for the internet connection.  This seems really strange as it should not be needed. The local system (roam in this case) should only need the wifi signal. As long as the app is connected to the same wifi it should be able to configure the speakers for stereo operation. I should clarify that I have used the system like this for some time now. It is just not reliable, meaning that sometimes I get the message stating that this operation cannot be performed and to check the internet connection. It is really frustrating that a simple operation like this cannot be performed reliably. My old pair of Bose revolve can do this even in bluetooth mode: No wifi, no app or anything else needed.

Imo this is a bug and not a feature.The Roam is from what I understand, by design, waking up when the Sonos client/app is put to the foreground. When awoken the battery starts to drain, resulting in the orange led flashing every other day or so.My issues:Imo auto-wake should be a setting, most people are happy to press the buttons instead Auto-sleep is clearly not working or the wake/sleep/wake sequence needs allot of power optimizations In our household the two roams also wake due to background activity of the Sonos app, so without actually opening the Sonos app. Not sure if this is related to activity of our 5.1 ARC setup? I need to reset the Roam pair as stereo-pair everytime this happens. 

I am having difficulty in setting up thee Sonos Roam.It will not connect to my network

I have a Sonos Roam and all of the sudden it started smoking. I immediately unplugged it from the wall and noticed the USB C cable was starting to melt into it. It no longer powers on. has anyone else experienced this?This speaker is usually kept in our bathroom and perhaps the condensation built up? This is just crazy to me.   

I bought a Sonos Roam. When I start playing via Airplay the speaker is mute after one or 2 seconds. Then it doesn't work. The issue occurs when I stream from iPhone, iPad or Mac mini. My router is Linksys E3200. When I stream from iPhone or iPad to Apple TV everything is fine, but I cannot stream to Sonos speaker. All operating systems and Sonos firmware are up to date. I can play via Bluetooth but I would prefer airplay, which is more convenient to use. Any suggestions or tips?Mike

Thank you in advance!! My mind is doing over time…sonos working as I type,trying to set it to a new room after a move. setting and preferences blank on the app so I’m unable to change.. it won’t find my device on Wi-Fi so will I have no choice to add the earthera cable? 🤯any help is appreciated 

I am trying to get the “grouping” function working. I am listening on a roam, I press the Play/Pause button, wait for the two tones, and it swaps music to the my stereo paired Fives. I have pressed for a shorter period and it just pauses the music. Any idea how to get it to group with the Fives not swap to them?

Has anyone successfully pair a Roam to a 2021 Samsung Frame TV.The Frame TV supports the use of Bluetooth speakers, but when I try and pair the Roam (using the same technique that successfully paired it to my laptop), it fails to show up in the list of pairable speakers.Curious to know if anyone has done this.

Hi alli recently bought a beam 2 and a move and the move is not visible in the app. I checked previous post (rebooting, restarting…) but still a problem.I have not found any solution (except returning the move), anybody can help?cheers 

Hi alli have a Sonos  roam in the bathroom set up to play music when the door closes ( elgato Eve door sensor ) it works very well. I also have it set up that when the door opens the music on the sonos roam stops playing. the problem that I have is that when the music is paused for Sonos all my speakers in the house stop playing ( homepod ) qnyelse experiencing this ? How can I fix this. 

Hi Sonos,I have 2 Fives, a move, and an ARC with Sub.For now I'm just referring to the Fives and the Move.I understand you don't think an EQ is necessary (otherwise you'd include one).But the mids in the Five and Move are harsh, muddy and have an overall "fakeness" to their sound, this makes listening to these speakers uncomfortable. My ears become quickly fatigued.Now you may think you have done some kind of software magic to get the best/perfect sound, but you've ended up with artificial and muddy sound.My cheap Sony amp paired with warfdales has better depth an clarity, and sound far more natural.Actually even my cheap Logitech pc speakers with mini sub are out performing your speakers when it comes to clarity.My hope is that the issue is speaker configuration ( the speakers you choose to use in the units) or DSP and not an issue with digital amps, and that an eq that allows for fine tuning of the mids can save us here…
