HiI have an Apple Superdrive connected to my iMac and frequently play CDs which I listen to through the iMac inbuilt speakers. I recently purchased SONOS Roam speakers and I can play music stored on the hard drive through the Apple Music app and have it play through the Roams (and it sounds great!), but I can't get anything when I play a CD and expect to hear the music through the Roams.Any ideas?
My Roam stopped working and is under warranty. 5 weeks ago I called support and was told a replacement was in process. Long story short, I've chatted 3 times and called 3 or 4 times now. No replacement. No answers. Have any of you done something to get a better response? I love my equipment; 6 products so far. But this is my first experience with support and it has been abysmal. HELP!
In the UK, is there an additional charging cable for the Move better than any other?
I have read everything about trying to connect to xfinity WiFi. I understand not one word of it. Seems the answer is to return the Sonos and buy Something else Too bad I love all my Sonos products that work fine at my other house. But this house will have to find something new
I have a Roam, two Ones and a Beam (the latter 3 are grouped). When I’m listening to Spotify (on any device) it randomly stops and starts playing on the Roam. This happens when I’m listening on another device on my network but also when I’m not even home and just listening on my phone or in the car. Always to the Roam, not any of the others.I thought it might be a Spotify issue so I logged out of all devices and then reauthenticated. Just after I did that it randomly started playing a podcast (I use Pocketcast). Shortly after I turned it off it played another spotify track. The tracks it picks are very random too - not songs I would listen to.I’ve checked my network and nobody has sneaked on without my knowledge. At any rate, it is playing my media, just not what I’m asking.Any idea what is going on??
I have a 12 zone Sonos system, wireless config, that usually runs trouble free. WiFi is provided by BT Whole Home Wifi extenders throughout the house. One of the zones is a Sonos Move that has performed flawlessly since I’ve had it.In the last couple of weeks it has started becoming very unreliable. Typical behaviour is: - Add Move to Group (via either Windows Desktop or Android app) - Move shows as playing music in the group but no sound comes out - Attempt to remove Move from group: App unable to connect to device, try again later - Manually turn Move off and then on again - Move sometimes returns to becoming responsive, sometimes not. At all times the WiFi signal where the Move is situated it showing as full strength on my phone. I have tried a full factory reset and re-adding to my system with no improvement. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Got any helpful hints before I take this to Sonos Support? Many thanks.
I have recently got an Audio Technica blue tooth turntable that comes with a pre amp. I connect it to a Roam with a view to playing through my other Sonos products. this works to all rooms except the main one I want it to work on.The “living room” set up is an Arc, a sub, a one and a one sl. playback starts ok but will frequently be jumpy and then stop all together. the rear speakers will also disconnect and on occasion the “living room” disappears from the Sonos app completely. any thoughts on how I could fix this or is the arc surround set up just not capable of playing the output from the turntable?
Hi I brought recently a new Roam and had it set up in our house. it worked perfectly. Then I took it to our summerhouse to install it on the existing network there. This network already have a Sonos Play 5 installed.I followed the Sonos advise and had the Roam reset back to factory setting. Sonos Roam flashing green now and ready to install.Procedure:Sonos app is somehow able to identify the Roam and the Sonos app(Sonos2) suggest the steps which are followed; In the app it says “Add Sonos Roam”. I click Activate Lets add the Roam to your system. I click Continue App says: Making Sonos Roam ready. App work in progress... Error appear: We could not find any Sonos products on your mobile network, so we cannot configure Sonos Roam. Try again.I tried many times with same result. My Play 5 plays perfectly on the existing network. I have tried to restart my router as well.CheersDennis
Hello All, I have done some research on this issue, without a definitive solution that I can find. I have two Sonos One (Gen 1) and one Sonos 5 (Gen 1) and I have been relatively happy with these for years (minus the 5 that drops from my list of devices often and I have to “discover” it again, but different issue). This week I was given a Sonos Roam and immediately my frustration went through the roof. I am a fairly technical individual so I figured I would get the New Sonos app and use the original app to control the speakers that can’t upgrade (that still works, no problem) and use the new app to control only the Roam. However, the new app insists on finding the Gen 1 devices every time, and then locks the program with the screen that states these products are not compatible with the New App and open the Gen 1 app. This happens every single time. Why can the new app not just ignore the old equipment and run the new ROAM all on it’s own, without discovering the old equipment. No matte
My Sonos Roam freezes up EVERYTIME it is left alone for a while. This is unchanged whether it's charging on its base, or in standby mode, or left on. After a few hours of inactivity, it becomes completely unresponsive. The lights are on and pressing the button creates feedback noises, but it doesn't actually do anything, and it shows it to be disconnected in the Sonos app. The only solution is to power it down completely and start it again. It connects and works fine then, but sure enough a few hours later, problem reoccurs without fail. This is extremely frustrating. A quick search revealed that this seems to be a widespread problem. There's a reddit thread on this with people praying there will be fix soon. It seems like it started happening about 2 updates ago. The latest update did not fix this behaviour. Please advise. I've had this unit for less than 6 months.
I want my child to be able to browse my library. Can this still happen if they have their own account? Or do we need to register it to me to avoid problems accessing the same system/library? (I’m assuming playlists, stations, and recently played are all tied to accounts and wouldn’t be shared.)
Any idea why I can’t group these? Roam seems to be on Bluetooth while Arc is on WiFi
Everyday I get the “unable to play selection” error and need to reboot the sonos move in order to play music. The app connects to the move but cannot play anything. Any advice on how to solve this annoying problem? (currently on verizon fios internet)
Hi,I’ve had my Roam up and running about a year. However, I let the battery run down and now the unit refuses to switch on.I charged the Roam back up by plugging in the cable. The light was solid orange the whole time while charging and now the light is off (which I assume means the battery is full?). I used the official Sonos plug (10w) to charge the unit. However, when I hold the units back on/off button down nothing happens and the speaker appears to be off still. It also no longer appears in the Sonos app so I’m very sure the unit is off.Is there anything else I can do? Is the unit broken?Any info would be great. Thanks
I’ve been through the factory reset and hard reset protocols and I can’t get it to turn on. I have both the charging base and a USB-C charger and have tried multiple configurations of charging and button push-and-hold, all to no avail. This happened once before and eventually I found a fix online but as of now I cant get anything to work. I’m going to try Sonos support as well but as we’re going into the weekend I figured turning to the Forum might be my best bet. Really want to have it working again before Memorial Day (Monday) here in the US. Has anyone had a similar experience and found a fix?
I am a new Sonos owner. (Arc,Sub, Ones (2), and Move.I am slowly learning the system and how it operates with it’s mostly Wi-Fi technology. I have a “Netgear Nighthawk” mesh system with router and two satellites. The actual router is situated near the Arc. I have a relatively small one story home, (1700 sq feet), with a decent sized back yard. What I have learned, by trial and error is that I had to re-arrange my satellites and place one on the lanai to cover the Move which we use out in the back yard. I have it set up temporarily, Just plugged in on a covered shelf. I want get some inputs on how to set the satellite up more permanently. Iam curious about how the bandwith puts out of the device, and height to place it on the lanai. All suggestions gladly entertained. Thank you!
Hi all,So I purchased a Roam for the summer months outside and just realised it is not compatible with my S1 set up, all but 1 of my 6 speakers are S2 compatible I believe so assume if I replace my Bridge with a Boost 5 will work on new S2 set up? Appreciate any feedback, if the Boost is not the right approach then the Roam goes back to Sonos as my S1 system has worked great for 10 plus years with no problem so am nervous about tampering. Thanks in anticipation.Martin
I just got the Sonos Roam, and I really just wanted a bluetooth speaker. Link my phone via bluetooth, play music. Is there any way to just keep it simple? I don’t want to have to open an extra app every time I want to listen to music.
I have a webpage on my screen with 10 links to bandcamp songs. I click a link to play it. It plays instantly through my headphones. I select Sonos Move portable through my Airplay selections for sound output, and it switches to that. It works.I now wait a few seconds and click the link to the second song. Nothing happens. I switch to headphones. It works fine. I switch back to Sonos Move. It starts playing again on my move. Why is Sonos and Airplay like this? I don’t understand. The Sonos App itself plays music fine when I select Move. But for whatever reason, it loses track of being selected from MacOS.Is this a known issue with an easy fix? It has ticked me off for at least six months now.
Hello. I bought two sets of Sonos speakers: A 4-speaker One SL for my country house, and a 3-speaker Sonos Roam for my apartment. Can both systems (my home and country house) work with the same Sonos Account? What precautions should I take?
Hi, I have an almost new roam and used like 3 times. I did not use it for some weeks and when I tried to use again, it was not recognised from the app. I hard reset the device and apparently it came back to normal but the next day it had the same issue. This time I tried to hard reset again but now it doesnt turn off. I press the power buttom for several secons, the upper light goes off for 2-3 seconds then you see an orange light at the base of the roam and then I got some white blinking lights from the top for some more secods to finally have a solid red light on the top. I have tried the hard reset by power off and play combination but this keeps cycling the lights all over again. What else can I do, this is almost new device and havent had any issues before.
I will come home from work, and my tv or streaming music will have turned itself on. I am the only person that uses the account or any of the streaming services (I live alone- nobody has ever connected to the system). The tv has turned itself on two middle of the night and coming home from work with music playing or tv turned on is a regular occurrence. (Typically the last thing that I had on…no didn’t forget to turn it off- thinking watching tv 18 hours prior)
My new Sonos Roam has just randomly started making a continuous banging noise, all attempts to either reset the unit or turn it off have failed, there is no one available at Sonos to assist, has anyone else experienced this? Currently I have had to put it in a box wrapped in blankets to dull the noise, it sounds like a jack hammer, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I have a system with 2 Moves, 2 Roams and 1 One.As long as the Moves are in the base, all is well but as soon as I take them out, they disappear from the available devices. Sometimes I have to do a reset and sometimes I can power off and on for them to re-appear. This wasn’t the case until maybe 1-2 months ago. All firmware is up to date.I mainly use Spotify and the speakers disappear both on the Sonos app as well as on Spotify if trying to connect from there.Really annoying. Any hints for a sustainable solution?
My set-up for the past 18 months has been 5.1.2 in the living room (arc sl, sub, 2x one SLs) and a move in the kitchen. This set up has been flawless and issue free the whole time I’ve had it. Last week I added a 2nd move to the mix and now I’m experiencing issues. The 2nd move seems to drop out quite frequently, and now on occasion the arc is dropping off the network.Any thoughts on why this is happening? Is it possible that the 2nd move is just overloading my wi-fi? My wife was a bit skeptical about a new Sonos already, now really not happy that the system isn’t working!Any suggestions to fix this?
