Google Assistant and Sonos

I used to manage my chromecast using my voice via Google Assistant, for instance “ok google, put Chromecast on pause” ou “switch Chromcast off”. But now, the answer si “unfortunately living room is not compatible”. In french : “malheureusement salon n’est pas compatible”.Is that a change on sonos products ? I have a Sonos BEAM (not the latest generation).Thanks  

When you ask for something that is streamed right back from assistant api and not from an app like Spotify you don't have control on Sonos va app but only the option to ask Google assistant to stop. Substantially when the playback of something like "hei google tell me the news" you'll notice the status of the player from the app or the exposed API as "nothing in play".Missing the option to stop it via any other external API but pressing the physical buttons or asking for "ok Google stop".For speech impaired and movement impaired people this is frustrating. Could you please add a status like "assistant engaged" and a stop button on API and APP?As the playing status is already there this shouldn't be too hard to implement.Thank you.

Hey guysI’ve recently bought a Nest Doorbell (battery) but for some reason, I don’t get the Doorbell to send me a notification on any of my Sonos devices.  Things I already tried:Re-linking the Google Assistant with Sonos (service) Re-linking Sonos speaker with Google Assistant (those are two different things in the apps) Factory reset my Sonos Beam (2)The Doorbell does give me a notification on my Google Home Mini in the bedroom but that’s not how I want my setup to be. I also had a chat with Google Support and they told me to ask Sonos because on their end, everything is working as it should, since I get notifications on my Google Home Mini. Pretty frustrating. And I did find another article on here but after trying all those solutions, still no result, which is why I’m writing this. 

Why can't I play music on Sonos groups with my voice with the Google Assistant? It is ridiculous to pay so much money on Sonos devices, if I can't even play music on a music group with the Google assistant!Sonos is a multi room system, but one of the key features ist not Support by the Google assistant.  And don't blame Google on this, you could easily sync the groups as separate devices into the Google home app.

So having stopped UK listeners accessing radio stations from abroad, the ongoing legal wrangle for TuneIn now means it’s dropping access to internet radio stations. I don’t know the extent of the takedowns but at least 2 stations I listen too regularly are now not available.While I know there are workarounds my biggest concern is that these don’t work via Google Assistant because TuneIn is the default service. So with the loss of non-UK radio stations, plus the new takedowns of internet streams and the on-going absence of BBC radio services, TuneIn is becoming unfit for purpose in the UK on Sonos with Google as the voice assistant.Is there a solution in the pipeline that would allow UK listeners to access other radio stream providers with Google, or to allow people to set a default other than TuneIn? The current situation means that there’s an increasing number of services that are just unavailable via voice control.  

Anyone knows why Google Assistant stops talking in the middle of responses, before finishing them, on Sonos devices?And how I can solve it? 

Hello, my Sonos system worked well with Google Assistant for years. I use roam and beam for voice control. All my Sonos products are shown in Google Home, while lately when I ask Google Assistant to play music on any named Sonos player, it just replies "the mode is not available". I have tried restart wifi router, reset Sonos system, re-connect Google assistant, nothing works. Any help is very much welcomed. 

Hi,Now that BBC sounds is on Sonos, does anyone know how to change the Google Assistant default from TuneIn to BBC Sounds? My Google Home Mini uses BBC Sounds. There’s still some BBC stations that aren’t are on TuneIn like Radio 1 Relax and Radio 1 Dance 

Hi, was hoping someone could help me out. I’ve just purchased a Sonos Roam and have a few issues. My existing setup is only very basic with a google home and several google tv devices, all running on the same network. The Sonos Roam is my first Sonos purchase. Firstly I can’t install google voice control on the Roam. I follow the steps on the Sonos app to add a voice assistant, and when it opens the google assistant app to look for devices, it can’t see the Roam. After looking for devices it fails and says to ensure WiFi is on and that your iPhone and assistant devices are on the same network. WiFi is definitely on and everything is on the same network. Also, I can’t get the Google home to see the Roam and stream to it. When I open the Google home app the Roam is listed under devices along with my other google products, and says it is linked, but when I select media on the app the Roam isn’t listed. Any help would be much appreciated. 

I have a stereo pair of nest audios in the living room and i’m thinking of upgrading to either a pair of google home max or sonos 5. I was leaning towards sonos since its not a discontinued product and in future i’ll be able to add more speakers for home cinema etc. i was thinking i’d be keep a nest audio to voice control the sonos, glad i found this forum to check! as i understand it i won’t be able to voice control a stereo pair for playing music, changing volume etc and it all has to be done by phone or physically? and simple things like setting an alarm doesn’t work at all even if it wasn’t a stereo pair? 

If I set an alarm with Google Assistant on the Sonos One, will the alarm show in the Sonos app? Also, if I set an alarm with the Sonos app, is Google Assistant aware of it? I’m trying to troubleshoot alarm problems and right now, the Google Assistant and the app don’t seem to be aware of the other’s actions. Thanks.

Hi… I‘ve had a Roam for awhile now and it has worked great. I had it set up with Alexa. I keep it sitting on the Sonos charging pad. When I’m using it, it’s usually off the pad. When finished, l leave it off the pad. It goes to sleep in about 30 minutes. And it stays in sleep mode until I’m ready to use it again.A few days ago I set it up to use Google Assistant. Everything seemed fine. But now I’m noticing when I leave it off the charger and it goes to sleep, it will wake itself up (status lights go on). I didn’t do anything. It will go back to sleep after 10 for so minutes, but it seems to come on again by itself at some point. Over the course of a day, I think this is happening over and over, and this behavior is causing the battery to drain. To test, I kept the Roam next to me (not on charger) while I worked. It went to sleep. But about 30-45 minutes later, I heard a Sonos One (with Google Assistant) I also have in the room beep on it’s own (not because it heard th

On my Sonos One Gen2, when I set an alarm, google says it is setting the alarm for the time I specified. Then I ask her what time it is set for, and the answer is 3 hours later than I said, and snoozed to the correct time that I requested for the alarm. Google answers the time and time zone queries correctly. I can find no setting to correct this. Thanks for the help.

Using a Sonos Roam speaker with Google set up, I cannot play music from music services.  If I set my default music provider to either YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Music, and then say 'okay google, play the Police' I get the following:"Okay playing the artist The Police on YouTube Music" "Sorry it looks like you haven't set up your account on that media service provider yet"But all my settings in Google Assistant look correct? Note: that I can ask for the time, I can also play music from TuneIn, something about the other services is busted?

I have various voice activated Sonos speakers, and control a lot of my music via a “Hey Google” command.I also have an Amazon Unlimited subscription, having recently closed my paid Spotify account.However I have not found a way to access Amazon via the “Hey Google” voice command.  If, for example, I say “Hey Google, play The Beatles”, she’ll head off and play a series of songs on a free Spotify (with advertisements) service.  I don’t seem to be able to set a default to get that service to go to my Amazon account instead.Any clues??

I've had Sonos for a few years now, always a Sonos Beam in my living room and a Sonos One in my bedroom, with Google assistant added. And I've always had the ability to say "Ok Google, play Duo mix on Spotify" and the Sonos that heard me, would play without any issue. But recently, both my living room and bedroom sonos' are insisting I declare which Sonos I want the music to play in. If I don't say "in my bedroom" it won't play and I have to start the voice command over. It's a small detail that is a bit annoying. If I'm 3 feet away from the bedroom sonos', you're obviously the one I want music to play on, the living room sonos didn't hear me or activate to listening mode.Why did this change, and is there a way to change it back?

Would really like to expand my Sonos system but thus far no support in Colombia? 

I have google nest mini and Sonos one. I cant use “ok google” let Sonos play music.But I can play music thought Spotify app , Sonos app , Mac app. Steps to reproduce(speak to google nest mini):1, Ok google,play music on Sonos.2,Ok,play Spotify music on Sonos, sorry, This device does not support this feature. Steps to reproduce(speak to Sonos one):1,Ok google, play music on Sonosdoesn't respond.but if I ask weather or time, it worked. I changed my google assistant default audio device to Sonos, it also doesn't work.

Looking for an update on this issue.  My endless search of the internet resulted in the question above not being addressed.  is there a resolution to this?  If not, do you have an expected ETA? 

When I give my Beam Google Assistant a command to play music, it plays on my Play:5 instead.  The Play:5 sits below the Beam and is inputed from a turntable to play my old LPs.  That works fine.  The Beam is connected via ARC to my Samsung TV and works fine for TV audio also.  Both speakers are in the same room, with the Beam on the top shelf of the media center and the Play:5 below it.My question is: Why does a music voice command on the Beam play music on the Play:5 instead?  Also, why I cannot control the volume of the Play:5 from the Beam voice command.  I have to touch the Play:5 buttons to increase or decrease the volume.Thanks,

Spotify volume becomes quiet and unchangeable after I use the Google Assistant on my Arc. I use Spotify direct cast and it will work normally (I can change the volume in Spotify app, Sonos app, or speaker volume buttons) until I use Google Assistant. Then the volume becomes quiet and I can’t change it using any method until I unplug the Arc. I can still change the volume of TV and Google Assistant voice responses, just not Spotify. Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas how to fix?

I am need of some support.  To clarify I have had number of Sonos speakers and google home devices for over 5 years I think so am familiar with both technologies and their capabilities however I have recently purchased an Arc which is the first sonos speaker I have owned with built in assistant capabilities.I have set it up and the “hey google” wake word works 99% of the time regardless of how loud the speaker is this is fine.  However I have found the actual voice recognition is very hit and miss.  I have been doing some experimenting and to remove variables I only use a single voice command during testing “activate the movie scene”.  I have found that this probably works less than 50% of the time.  When it doesn’t work it is not miss understood, the speaker simply ignores the command completely.  Sometimes it only detects part of the command but sometimes it is the start of the command or the end of the command but never the bit in between or misinterprets the words.  Furth

I have Sonos devices in two homes. Both homes are included in my Google Home app. However, i am only able to install Google Assistant in one of those homes. Each time I install it in one home it unlinks from the devices on the other home and I need to do all the installing again.

Hey y’all. I have a Sonos Play:5 (Gen 2) set up in my living room and I recently purchased a Google Nest Mini (Gen 2) to control it. I’ve set everything up to the point where I can tell the Nest to do things like pause and start music on the Sonos, but when I try to command the Nest to play a specific artist / genre / playlist etc. (e.g. “Hey Google, play jazz on Sonos in the living room”), it replies with the following error message: “Sorry, it looks like Apple Music isn’t currently supported on the living room”. I have set up Apple Music as the default music service on the Nest, and have logged into the same Apple Music account on both devices. I’m a bit puzzled by the error message, since I’m pretty sure I was able to control Apple Music on the Sonos via the Nest at an earlier stage of setting the two devices up. But maybe I’m just misremembering. I’ve read suggestions elsewhere online that controlling Apple Music on a Sonos Play:5 via the Nest just isn’t supported. In any case,
