Hey everyone. I had auto updates off and was on 14.10 but a few days ago the system updated on it's own. I've given it time and have done truplay and it sounds terrible. The pronunciation of s's are so harsh no matter what I do. Trueplay on/off, lower treble. Nothing works. At higher volumes it's unbearable, makes me feel nauseated. Is there anything you can suggest. Ran trueplay with ipad gen 8. Arc 2 subs gen 3 and 2 ones and a beam. Thanks.
Sonos system works fine with streamed music, and is almost fine with playing music from my WD My Cloud Home NAS directly through the speakers, but the Connect amp often finds it hard to make a connection to the NAS or begins a song and then drops out (in which case I get an error message warning me the wifi is unstable. This has been happening for a long while (years)! We’ve been through the unplug / reset steps, and have now moved the system to a new (and supposedly faster) modem/router. Our internet service is patchy, the price of living in regional Australia with a government that crippled the national broad band network from the beginning, but while this may cause the connect amp a problem or two, it doesn’t explain why the system appears to work better when I bypass the amp.Any suggestions / insights are welcome.Albert
I have setup a projector that projects a picture onto my garage door (16 x 9). I then put an Arc in the center of the garage (hanging below the garage door opener). I added two Fives in the back corners and a Gen 3 Sub on the left wall near the rear corner. It already sounds awesome, but I am adding a Gen 3 sub to be on the right wall near the front corner (kitty corner).I was a little worried that the Arc being close to the ceiling would sound bad, but it really sounds awesome (it is about 30” below the ceiling).Probably don’t need it, but curious if adding two SL’s centered on the walls would enhance it or not (if you can add that many to the system).
My house is full of Sonos..in ever room. Never had issues in 3 years. WiFi is fine. 14 total Sonos devices including Boost. Since the LAST SONOS PHONE APP UPDATE, I get this occasionally. I see several others mention the same in different groups. All my speakers are working. If you click on the “fix it “issue < it comes back and says no Sonos products found on my WiFi…really? All are playing. Close the app out..guess what??!! Shows no issues. And at times ..app still crashes…
Moderator edit:Google Translate - Good morning, I have a problem with the disconnection of the sub, I have stored the sonos AMP in the basement that gives sound to the terrace, I add the subwoofer on the terrace and it is impossible for me to connect it to the sonos AMP. My question is, if the subwoofer connects to the sonos AMP by wifi or by bluetooh?
Hi. I’m interested in learning more details on how Sonos’ low-latency streaming works. Right now, if one would want to get audio out from their, let’s say laptop, options are:AirPlay 2 - strict 2 second delay TuneIn Radio local stream (UPnP?) - 1-3 second delay Use Sonos Roam or Move connected via bluetooth Use Sonos Playbar, Playbase, Ray, Beam, Arc, Amp digital audio inputThe last two is what I would like to do, but instead of requiring special hardware, I would like to have the software component. Perhaps register my laptop as a virtual Sonos device, and stream audio from my laptop with the same protocol, which should be less that 75ms. I assume Sonos company would prefer to sell a device instead of giving away software for free, and also does not want to support running the streaming software on unknown hardware and dealing with random issues that could occur there. That’s why I would love to have at least some pointers how to do it technically myself. Is this completely proprietar
What brand of 3.5 jack recommended for sonos 5I put one of my cables in and it sticks out, I don’t want to force it in any furtherWould you recommend these.https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00NO73IN2?th=1&ref_=as_li_ss_tl&language=en_US&linkCode=gg2&linkId=38b5ee65db279c4324291d257c238485&tag=ehcables-20I search this topic but no answer to what is recommended or does the sight have any cables.I tried the bottom cable pretty generic only that much goes in the jackno difference between the two cables except the bottom one are male on both ends
Upto now I've been toggling CEC (viera link) on and off to switch between Beam and TV speakers as a work around. Would adding an HDMI switch into the connection with an empty port work ? ie switch to the empty port when not wanting to use Beam, or would the TV just send the signal to the empty port anyway ?
I seem to be having network issues and it now seems to point to Sonos. I have many zones in my house. Several Sonos devices have the same MAC address (example below is 34-7e-5c-9f-8f-dc). How is this possible? This can’t be good for my network and in fact I do get connectivity issues indicative of dups. Hi,I’m the operations director of an office space, and we have multiple Sonos One speakers around the office. We often play music on a group of speakers, but we’d like to the people that sit in each individual office section the ability to change the volume on the speaker near them without affecting the other speakers. I know this could be done via the app, but I am looking for a hardware solution. We have purchased and tested Ikea’s sonos remote, and while you do connect it to a single speaker, it still controls the volume of the whole group if that speaker is playing as part of a group. If a hardware solution is not possible, we’d also be open to doing it via a custom solution if there is an API. Open to other suggestions as well. Thanks!
HiI’ve recently got a Google TV stick and connected it to my Sony TV. I’m using a Beam for sound. With the new stick we often experience problems controlling the sound. The Google TV is controlling the volume through the TV, and the on screen volume display is moving at is should, but at volume level 0 there is still sound coming from the beam. If I look in the Sonos app the Google TV is controlling the volume just at is should, the app is also showing the volume at 0 when this happens. This only happens when the devices start up efter being turned off, e.g. in the morning or when we come home from work. Any suggestions? Mvh.Torkil
I recently upgraded from Sonos S1 to S2. My old NAS storage doesn’t work with S2 (it’s SMB1 only.;)Does anyone have suggestions for an inexpensive NAS storage device that works with Sonos S2? Best would be something that can use a flash drive for storage.thanks,Len
Hi I have a beam gen 2 and thinking about adding two rears (Sonos or ikea). I use the ststem also for music and I’m not sure what happens on a system like this when playing music.Does the rears sound together with the beam when playing stereo music? The rears are playing left and right channels, doubling the beam? That would be a strange stereo image.what happens instead when playing Atmos music from Apple TV? I expect them to play differently then stereo music because in this case they have separate channels to play, but I rarely listen to Atoms Music because usually I play music from Sonos app, not from Apple TV another doubt is to use ikea symfonisk vs Sonos one SL. I understand from review that Sonos are slightly better for music. It’s worth the investment as rears? Ikea will do just as good?
I have intentionally not updated my Arc and the rest of the system forver after the drop sub update debacle. I now have tried to add some new music services to my app and its a no go until I updated the system. So away I go to 14.20.1. For the love of God, why can you people not stop messing with the sound profile and volume ratio???? I bought this system one way. What makes you think I want a change forced on me? Everyone flipped out about this before, and you rolled back the volume and profile changes after many updates. Now after being forced to update, I find you have done it again? The system has lost so much of its punch. If you want to do this, make it a setting that we can select for the day 1 spund profile and volume ratio. KNOCK IT THE HELL OFF ALREADY
Hi All,Until last week I was able to access my music library from an unpowered external HDD through my TP_Link Archer VR2800 router. I replaced the unpowered HDD with a Seagate external powered HDD, removing the reference to the existing library and tried to create the new reference. No go. Classic symptoms of the SMB v1 issue that is being discussed.I am running a Windows 10 laptop that has no trouble talking to the router or the Seagate HDD. I can access/play movies/music from there. SMB v1 is disabed on my laptop so the router must be using SMB v2.My Sonos system (3 x Ones, Play:5 and a Beam) are all upgraded to S2. S2 has no SMB v1 capability. This upgrade occurred a while ago (many months to a year if I recall). So everything is running SMB v2. Moreover, the library was working fine last week with the unpowered HDD. Now I can’t add the library on the Seagate HDD and I can’t add the library reference to the old HDD.Saying it’s a simple SMB issue doesn’t feel right...what am
Will I get 24 bit ausio on a play 1 if it is connected with the Arc? I would love a technical explanation of the sonos ecosystem to understand better. Does each speaker have a DAC? Can I override this with an external DAC if needed?
I’ve got an issue with my pair of Sonos Fives with a significant bass boost at around 50Hz from where I’m sitting (measured using the iOS app HouseCurve). In doing some research I believe it is a modal peak or similar which should be able to be resolved to some extent in DSP. I’ve tried moving the speakers around as much as I can but although I can reduce it a little the problem is still there (I run Trueplay each time I change the positioning).I would have thought Trueplay would improve this but I’ve run it repeatedly and I just can’t seem to deal with it. I’ve tried reducing the bass to -10 in the equalizer but this doesn’t seem to have any effect either.Does anyone have any tips on sorting this out? iPhone 14 Pro on latest version of the app. I’ve tried moving the speakers as far into the room as I can. Thanks for any suggestions
Why can't radio urls be added to a Playlist?
I’m using 2x Sonos One and Beam 2. All of them are using Wi-Fi 5GHz via the Unify AP. The apartment is small (<50 sqm) and the network is usually stable. All the devices are updated to their latest firmware versions. However, couple times a day when I say “Ok Google” or “Hey Google” the Sonos speakers immediately answer with “Sorry, there was a glitch”. Then if I repeat myself, assistant is able to process the query. What can I do to help you diagnose the problem? I’ve already submitted the diagnostic information via the app. Is there anything else I can do?
Hi everyone,I just setup a Sonos Arc on a Samsung The Frame 65” 2022 (LS03B). Both firmwares are up to date. The soundbar is connected to the eArc HDMI port using the Sonos cable. When I play sound from a phone or computer through AirPlay, the sound is OK. This makes me believe the soundbar itself is OK.When I play sound from the TV (broadcast or Youtube app), the sound is just crappy. It’s missing most of the bass, and generally speaking sounds very tinny, and only coming from the central channel. When the TV is running, the Sonos app show “PCM multicanal Dolby 2.0”. When I’m using the Youtube app, it shows “PCM multicanal Dolby 5.1”. I tried the optical → HDMI adapter provided with the Sonos - I have no sound at all. Please help, I’m at a loss here and about to return the Arc.
Cannot share USB audio files with SONOS v2 systemModel: TP-Link Archer C8 Hardware Version: V3Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20220510 rel.32759(5553)The USB drive plugged into the Archer C8 shows it is active in the Archer C8 advanced USB settings. All files are shared with no login required. The network address is: \\192.168.1.1\sda1\USB_MusicWindows explorer can find the music files OK and can play them, but the SONOS v2 system cannot access the music library.Sonos initially connects to the USB drive at the network address entered, but gives the error message below after about 10 seconds.I have worked extensively with SONOS customer support, but they were unable to resolve this problem. SONOS suspects a problem with the TP-Link Archer C8's implementation of SMB1 and/or SMB2 protocols.I have tried sharing the USB drive with and without user login and password, but neither works.I just updated this router to the latest version firmware, but that did not resolve this problem.Any sugg
I had problems getting my Playbar and Sonos One onto my wifi network. I had just installed a mesh network but hadn’t switched off the wireless from my router. I then had two networks running with the same SSID. After four very frustrating hours of failing to get these speakers onto the network, I called my ISP who ran some remote diagnostics to inform me that there was nothing wrong with my router or my network.I then called SONOS support. We spent an hour and a half trying to get it to work. All these scenarios are with the S2 App and Android 13Factory reset SONOS, Wireless off, Ethernet connected and router in Modem / Bridge mode - no luck Factory reset SONOS, router in Modem mode (no duplication of networks) and Google Wifi Mesh network enabled - no luck Factory reset SONOS, router in Modem mode (no duplication of networks), Google Wifi Mesh network enabled and DHCP disabled - no luckAt this point, I’m thinking about selling off all my SONOS kit on eBay. And then as a last throw of
Not sure how to describe, but my Arc seems to crash and reboot itself every so often (about an hour). This only happens when the input is TV. The arc is wired with wired sub, Symfonisk frames wireless for surrounds. The arc just stops responding, and shows red in the app. The lite blinks white for a bit, and then comes back. It appears to be rebooting.
Hello all,I have been looking to trying to find some discussions about this but cant seem to get anything clear:I am in the process of building my new home. The great room has a vaulted 2-story ceiling. Picture below)Current plan is to do Arc in front, Sub, unknown on surround.Need guidance on surround:What gives best sound (for movies) on this application? (2) One SL’s mounted on wall at sitting/ ear height, Or AMP with in-wall at sitting/ear height? If I went with the in-walls- what is the quality of the in-wall speakers? Am I better off buying the Amp and getting different in-walls or are the Sonos in-walls good quality? Thanks for the help, and apologies if this has already been discussed
Face it Sonos, your Roam product is faulty. And to make matters worse, it’s sold at a Sonos price. My kids have less than $50 products that last longer, have the ability to stereo pair in Bluetooth, and are more dependable.I love my Play:5 (Gen2), three (3) One’s (Gen1), One (Gen2), and Amp. And after getting over the fact that my two (2) Moves won’t stereo pair in Bluetooth mode, I’ve learned to appreciate the acoustical depth they generate. One of my Roams has already been replaced. But now, both are unresponsive. To anything! I purchased the wireless charger for each, so it’s not the charger. They are your chargers. Within the S2 System App one is listed in “Sleep mode” and the other is “Not connected.” They both are unresponsive to resets, factory resets, charging for several days, no lights, no nothing. And I’m seriously considering replacing my Samsung soundbar and subwoofer with your Arc. But can’t bring myself to do it with this Roam issue still pissing me off.Admit it. Your Roam
