A lot of TVs and streaming devices have a “quiet mode” where they add some signal processing (probably just a compressor) to reduce loud sounds when watching TV late at night. It would be great is Sonos had a similar mode (preferably customizable) where I could schedule the quiet mode so that it aligns with my apartment building’s rules for being quiet.A compressor would probably not be enough, I think bass should be EQ’d down as well. Maybe there are other audio tricks in order to not disturb neighbours too… this is why I’d like it to be customizable so I can tweak EQ/compressor settings depending on my setup/house/etc.
Add a multi channel to the system. Let me join 2 amps to make a 7.1 System. Most people I sell your product to don’t understand surroundsound, and they want to hear the rears they want to hear dialogue The option of a multi channel would be awesome. I would be able to sell a lot more amps.
I am not getting Sonos Playlists from my Music Library on my IPhone or iPad. They are present and working on the desktop client. This is on a recent Sonos 2 installation. They are present on the old Sonos App on all controllers. Are thy supported on S2 on iOS, or is this a fault/bug?As always thanks in advance fkr your help,
I Have a Grand Piano that plays with the PianoDisk software. Some of the tracks have an audio feed as an accompaniment - both voice and instrumental. The Piano location is on the balcony of a two story home. Looking for the best solution for sound. My initial thought was a pair of Sonos ERA300’ with the third gen woofer. Would I need the Sound bar? I want good bass (woofer). speakers will be placed on carpeted floor under piano so not a lot of spacing.
So after 10 years I decided to sell off all my Sonos. I had enough with the nonsense. Here are the reasons:STP issues with my Unifi networks resulting in frequency cut outs and broadcast storm (SONOS ARC, SONOS BEAM) Notification connection led on any speaker that cannot understand that blinking at 2AM is pointless (Any speakers) Lack of support for advance DTS (SONOS ARC, SONOS BEAM) Tiny power button (SONOS ROAM) Many steps necessary to turn off device (SONOS ROAM) Charging a battery operated speaker can not be done when speaker is off (SONOS ROAM) Wireless charging using tiny coils that corrode and break (SONOS MOVE) Lack of native support for things like Airplay 2 (Any speakers)But more importantly I think the company and engineers are completely are lost and struggle to design a great ecosystem that just works. Ciao.
Last night all of the sudden my Sonos Beam stopped working with my Samsung TV. I tried everything from resetting both the TV and Sonos device to trying different cables. Turns out I needed to turn off Dolby Digital Plus in the TV audio settings. Unfortunately, the Beam (Gen 1) does not support this audio format. Hope this helps others 😀
Hi.I have a past in car-audio just to give anyone a little info when i make claims or ask (silly)question it’s from there i justify why i ask them.I purcase two Sub Gen3,with two weeks between. First one i notice allmost right out of the box it got like an more electrical smell to it. And when i started play some low’s i could really smell it. From the very first time the sub start play, the smell was there. But it cleared up a bit during the first days,so by the time i got my secound sub the only time i could smell the first Gen3 was play loud music over perhaps a few 3-4min tracks. The other Gen3 did not smell as much as the first one,and it cleared up like after two evenings watch some movies. Then i got some Ikea Symfonisk Book Shelf speakers…..and guess what…..they smell EXACLY the same as the Gen3’s…. But they need to be “pushed” a little before they start making a smell. I got four of the Ikea BS(Book Shelf) and all of them smells.I would belive that this perhaps is the thin seale
I lost power in my condo. After it came back on, I rebooted my router and restarted my ipad and Sonos app. When I try to play music on my Sonos app with Spotify, I keep getting message “unable to add song to queue”. Any one have any suggestions?
I have spent thousands euros in sonos components both for home and office. Both environments play under high speed network.I’m used to listen to deezer favourites tracks (2300 songs) in a group of two/three rooms. There is always a problem: if electric power is down for a while any reasons, Sonos forgets everythings, the room groups, the playing playlist, all. You need to group again the rooms, select the playlist and so on.If this was not enough, most of the time, no, all the time, sonos skips tracks with som error (incorrect encoding or network not responding). When I try to ask support the solution is always, always, please try disconnecting the router, keep disconnect then restart. Not even windows at his best had so useless solutions.
My sonos speaker suddenly emitted the most terrible sound I can ever think of. It was SOO loud and in the middle of my very wonderful evening, I could not barely get it to stop. literally causes me some PTSD. I'm not a wimp either.I realized my sono speaker was hacked. This happened on February 5th 2023 about 1:00 a.m. Why would someone do this and is this being addressed by sonos or whomever tech company's security hole this belongs to. Anyone have answers? This was not a small issue, it was terrible.
My Beam 1 has a hair line cracking forming that goes all the way along the top edge, almost all the way around the whole speaker. It is kept out of direct light, and is minimally handled (only for cleaning) and has never been dropped or hit. Is anyone else experiencing cracking in their products?
Sonos desktop app unable to load pcdcr.dll.It needs microsoft .net to work properly. In windows control panel go to Uninstall or change a program.locate the most recent Microsoft Visual C++ redistribution (by installed on date)Right click and select Change then repairthis should fix the nag
Hi I have a Sonos s16 amp (2018) squirrel blew transformer (yeah would you believe it) hence power surge poping my amp. traced it back to L1 resistor/ diode on main board. can someone help me with what should I replace it with. Kind Regards Noel
This is really a question for Sonos, but I was wondering if the community had any thoughts on this too. If Sonos is in favour of the ‘Right to repair’ directive coming to the EU (I believe), do they plan to make service manuals available to help users repair their devices (I’m struggling to triage an issue with my Sonos S16 Amp which is out of warranty). Would be great to have a fair chance of fixing it rather than consigning it to landfill…
Do a reprograming Sonos’s PCoIP protocol could improve the sonos experience?Better traffic control will induce packetloss but it's less important than higher latency and audio lags.Packet loss within a optimized PCoIP session should target less than 0.1%.Users typically notice performance degradation if the session packet loss is greater than 0.1%, although higher loss may be tolerated. What about to increase the tolerance value of the PCoIP protocol and eliminate the bootleneck which will fix most customer lag complaints? Any thought?
Hi, I have sonos AMP S16 blow-up IC chip locate on power supply board at U3, please see pictureI can’t read the part number. does anyone know the part number for that chip?Thank you
I’ve been using Sonos speakers and enjoy them. I had to accept that they took away “On My Phone” option, but how can one access Sonos on another computer in the hosuehold and use one’s music library as well? When I access the Sonos app on my mac, it reads the one I’m using at the time. My spouse can’t just open the app on her computer and simply add her library as well. Nobody wants to remove the current music library in settings and then update the new computer’s different library each time it’s used in the house? This makes NO sense. Any help is appreciated. If this isn’t fixed or planned in the near future, it’s time to sell the system. Thanking you in advance.
As stated, my Imported Playlists do not include my iMusic library playlists. I do not subscribe to iMusic streaming service. My music library resides in the customary location on my Mac HD. I am running Mac OS 12.0.1. Any suggestions?
I have a Port wired to my Yamaha RX-A6A using RCA connections. The sound out of stereo speakers is loud clicking with no music. I have numerous ones, a sub, two Era 300 speakers and two ports streaming music to my porch and garden in my system that work very well. I have just discarded the 7.2 channel system in my living room as the sound is unbearable. It would be nice to be able to play streaming music on Yamaha receiver.
I registered my sub gen 2 in Feb 2019 and all was well until the sub showed no power. After a call to the sonos support team and an investigation it was a proven fault in the unit all I was offered was a 30% discount voucher on future sonos products. Considering the premium price point of Sonos products, I had hoped for a longer lifespan and greater reliability. 1300 AUD albeit with a 30% discount for a sub that lasts 4 years (in my experience) doesn’t make any sense for me.
Hi everyone,Last week I got a Beam Gen 2 + Sub Gen 3 to replace my Beam Gen 1. So far everything's been running smoothly. Then today when I was listening to music with said setup while working a sudden hammering sound interrupted the music. The noise must have been at full volume despite the volume limit which I set to 40%. I jumped up from the couch and instantly pulled the plug. Music kept playing in the adjacent dining room on a pair of One/One SL for a bit before it stopped.I tried to find the problem online and only found this video. This is exactly what I experienced with my Beam as well. However, this video does not give a good idea of how loud this really was.Since I couldn't find a solution online, I called the support hotline. The lady on the phone told me, that such a problem has not come up yet. She asked me to replug the Beam and let some music play. After just a few minutes the noise interrupted the music again. So at least the support lady had some impression of it and I
I have just build a passive house and it is a sealed home with an air handling unit. Each room is sealed with a membrane. How do I fit a ceiling mount Sonos speaker without compromising the sealed ceiling. This is going to be an ongoing issue (certainly in Europe with passive houses) Note: self sealing ceiling downlight housing are already available. Any thoughts as my home is all flush speakers.
I’m just moving house and I currently have the Arc, Sub Gen3 and 2 x Era 300s set up in a standard rectangle living room with a flat ceiling. Really happy and easy set up….. However my new place has 12ft vaulted ceiling and it’s a big space to fill. Ideally I would like the TV and Arc in position A but I’m also willing to consider B and C as I think it’s not a good placing for Arc. We listen to a lot of music and that’s my main use however I need to have TV and Arc in a decent position. Where should I place each speaker for optium sound? Your thoughts and advice would be really welcome…. Thanks, Chris
At the moment, iTunes is the only app I’ve seen that ignores the first “The” in names of bands and albums. Can’t Sonos do the same?BThe BeatlesFThe Future Sound of LondonUThe UndertonesCorrect. TThe Beatles The Future Sound of London The UndertonesIncorrect. I shouldn’t have to rename everything to something like “Beatles, The” to get it to show correctly. Also, I don’t know if Sonos can be made to read Apple’s sorting tag, or adopt similar, so artists are sorted by the correct letter - Lionel Richie should come under “R”, not “L”.
I am a custom integrator and just love the Sony Music Connect / Works with Sonos automation built into Sony ES receivers. Pair a Sony ES receiver with a Sonos Port in the “Works with Sonos” settings menu and voila, you can turn a big home theater into another Sonos zone where control on the Sonos app works like any other zone (even bypassing the Sony’s volume control) and you never need a separate remote to play music. The feature works by watching the multicast chatter on the network and when it sees a “play” message coming from the MAC address of the associated Sonos Port, it switches on and goes to the input dedicated to Sonos.I’m having a problem with a new installation utilizing a Sonos Port and Sony STR-AZ5000ES. This feature doesn’t work when all 17 installed Sonos devices are running on the network, although it will start working when you unplug many of the Sonos devices from power. Most of the Sonos devices are wired with ethernet. Sony Support says this feature stops working w
