Controllers and Music services

My Music Library is shared both from my wife’s Win 10 laptop and my Linux laptop (running Linux Mint 21.3), which shares my Music folder via samba.  After the SONOS update to 16.0, my system doesn’t recognize the Music folder on my Linux laptop, and I can’t re-add it to the library.  Nothing was changed on my laptop, only the SONOS software update.  I can see the Music folder on my laptop using File Manager on my wife’s laptop, so I know it’s sharing properly on our home network. I’ve added these lines to smb.conf as I’ve read in various SONOS support threads, but no joy:[global]server min protocol = NT1unix extensions = nontlm auth = yesHas anyone else experienced this issue after updating?  And has anyone found a solution?

I had an issue with Planet Rock App premium keep cutting out. Went through support, they decided it was a Planet Rock app issue. So I canceled my premium subscription and started to listen through the TuneIn app, which never cut out.That is until I have just updated to the new TuneIn app and guess what - its now started to cut out every 4 mins or so, so just the same behaviour as the Planet Rock app had.Doesn’t cut out on iPhone or iPad. I don’t have a premium subscription on TuneIn, so it is not a authorising issue. Planet Rock is fine from Sonos Radio as well. 

I am constantly having to change the volume when playing back songs in playlists created through Apple Music. Is there a way in Sonos to equalise / normalise the playback volume?

Can I play Sonos Radio on my iphone air buds? I do have Sonos speakers at home, but when I go for a run I want to continue the same station.

Hi everyone,First of all sorry for my english I’m french…. :) I have a problem to use my sonos arc with AirPlay. When I want to listen music with airplay from m IPhone, it askes for un password that I don’t have…I have read a lot of topics about it….I reset my sonos I don’t have my sonos set in my app homeI don’t know what I can do more…If someone have a solution ? :) 

After the recent Sonos update, Sirius channels will not play through the speaker.Please advise of the fix for the Sirius channels not playing through the Sonos speaker after one proceeds with the most recent Sonos update.  Thanks.Moderator edit: combined posts

Hi. I had in issue with One that is still present on Beam 2. I can’t add Tidal to the Sonos App (connection error). Neverthless, Tidal sees the Beam and I can play music (it was very shacky on Sonus One, seems to be better on Sonus Beam) and also I can see it (the Tidal Song I’m playing) in the SOnus App. But every time I stop, everything starts again:the Sonos app ask again to add Tidal (with username, password and so  on) the registration is fine but connection error when I switch to the Sonos App-Tidal sees the Beam- I see the song in the Sonos App. Somehow it works, but I would like to add Tidal to the Sonos App.  

Hi,I just purchased a CR200 controller to use with my Play:3 speakers. I downgraded one speaker to S1 and got it installed on the S1 app. Works fine. Now I wanted to connect the CR200 after I did a factory reset and place it in the cradle. So I went through the setup and pressed the play/pause and + buttons on the speaker to connect, but nothing happens..Saw some old posts about it, but there were no fixes. I did read somewhere that an old software version below 4.2 may not work on more recent Sonos systems. But thats a bit vague... What is 'more recent'? And where do I check this on the CR200? I can only enter setup mode, nothing else.Please help, because I paid quite some cash for it. Thank you!

Hi, I’m a newbie here and new to Sonos. I’ve been using Logitech Media Server (LMS) for music at home until recently.I have a big library of MP3 files that I want to copy to a NAS drive that I have just installed on my home network. That’s all working fine and I can index some initial test content OK in the Sonos Music Library.I can see that Music Library has fewer options to configure than LMS had around how the music is presented - particulary over compilation albums and multi-disc albums. I obviously want to minimise the amount of re-tagging that I have to do and would welcome advice.I found a thread on here about compilation albums and it seems I can’t rely on the COMPILATION=1 tag that I had used in LMS, and instead need to use ALBUMARTIST set to “Various Artists” along with other settings about how albums are grouped to achieve the same effect. I’ve got that working OK and it will need a fair bit of re-tagging of my content but that’s OK.The one I’m not seeing an easy way round i

Going out of my mind here folks !!Sonos speaker starts playing a Spotify playlist (much later) after I have left the house & WiFiCurrent hardware/software which is obviously always changing with updates:> Iphone 15 Pro> Spotify App and also desktop versions on Macbook Pro and Air. > Sonos (plenty of them around the house) w/ 1 continual offending culprit - Sonos Play 1Problem statement:Go in to home gym, utilize Iphone 15 Pro to play music from Spotify App to a specific Sonos Play 1. When done, sometimes I press pause on Spotify app, sometimes pause, close app, etc… regardless, music stops / pauses play. Sound is done etc.. gone.Leave the house in 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Sometimes play music with USB to Iphone and through Apple Car Play in Jeep. Make a few stops. Generally a few hours later, when getting back in car, wife claims Sonos speaker in gym is playing music again. Does anyone know why or how to alphabetize the individual songs contained in each playlist created?  Playlists can be alphabetized but when you’re playing a list you have to manually move them around which takes forever.

Does anyone read the comments on Google Play about how bad this app is? If these were cheap, as in price, I would have made a Youtube video showing how an un-satisfied customer takes a 10lb sledgehammer to unlistenable Sonos speakers.You guys don’t even reply to any of the comments, why? 

Really struggling to stream Apple Music using the Sonos app. I keep seeing “Unable to browse music - there was a problem connecting to Apple Music”. Though after several attempts I can get some of my albums to display. Then when I select an album to play the message reappears, or a couple of random tracks from the album might play.Problem occurs on Mac, iPad and iPhone. Only change to my system is new fibre modem installed last week. Router and WiFi network however are unchanged. All my other 20 networked items are behaving just fine.I’m at a loss as to what the issue might be. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have seen similar questions but still no satisfactory answer;  My setup is quite simple -Macbook Air M1 2020 running OS 14.1.1Sonos Play:3 and Play:1All Music on a single iTunes library //MacBook-Air-???/MusicOften when I go to play I receive a message “//MacBook…  is no longer available.  The device At first I thought this happened if the machine went into sleep mode when Sonos was playing but it just seems to happened regularly and randomly.  Often if I want to update the library.The problem started only after upgrading to the MacBook Air.  Never used to happen on my old machines.The only solution each time is to delete the library path and re-add the library.Can someone please help.  Driving me mad

I have had drop problems with KPIG (subscription radio station) for several years. I finally figured out a solution. I sign in on my KPIG browser app and then go to Sound output on my Mac Mini. There I choose a Sonos AirPlay speaker. Next, I go to my Sonos app and Play Everywhere. I can listen to KPIG 24/7 without a drop. 

I have a YouTube premium account but can't connect the service to my new sonos one SL.I’m using Samsung S20 android and all apps are up to date.When I select my existing Google account after I use the verification code it says "Success device connected" in Google but when I go back to the sonos app it says:"Connection error. There was a problem adding the YouTube music account. A connection to YouTube music could not be made"

Hello, this has probably been addressed several times, but I have a question about Android. I replaced my iPad for a Galaxy Tab and it can't airplay. Is there an app that can stream music from the radio to Sonos for example? Thank you

Hello,I have 3x Sonos speakers; 1x Sonos Move and 2x Sonos One purchased around 2021. I have the speakers configured both in the Sonos app, as well as integrated into Apple Home. Primary use case for adding the speakers into Home was to be able to leverage Siri to play music in room that speaker resides. Everything worked great until about 6 months ago when the following errors began appearing on any and all apple devices.Apple TViPhoneIt is worth mentioning that there was no attempt to airplay content to the Sonos speakers when the message appeared. It is also worth mentioning that I am able to airplay content if want to. It is almost as if the connection is severed while the speakers are in standby mode causing a persistent pop up. The larger issue is that this pop up pauses the content on the iOS device and continues to pop up every 60 seconds or so until the speakers are finally unplugged. This has made the speakers virtually unusable so I am wondering if this has been encountered

I have a music library I’ve been nursing along for 20 years. In those 20 years it has lived on a Windows machine, but 11 years ago I migrated to Mac, where it has been since. When the library is reindexed, there are some artists that show up with garbage names. Björk, in particular, but also artists like Ali Farka Touré, whose last name shows up as both “Touré” and “TouĀ(C)” (copyright symbol)Using mp3tag, I’ve examined files from Björk and “BjĀ(p)k” (paragraph symbol) side by side, and they all look fine there. The characters are also rendered correctly in VLC. ffprobe doesn’t show anything either. But the Sonos desktop app has split the album “Gling Gló” into two albums, one rendered correctly and the other looking like a squashed bug. So this is some kind of unicode / UTF-8 issue, either in the tags or in Sonos. Any ideas? Note - the files are not on a NAS but on a local APFS disk. Also, to be clear, the filenames themselves are ASCII-compatible, it’s only the ID3 tag metadata that

I just downloaded the Sonos Windows App an I find it so much better to useIf I use the desktop app will it play Dolby Atmos through my Arc like it does with the IOS app?Ta

Hi there - I’m currently trying to troubleshoot the following situation: I’m setting up an in-office Sonos system.  We have one shared network, and we’ve set up four Sonos Fives around the office.  I am the admin for this system, and it works fine.  Separately, I set up a single Era 300 for one specific office.  It’s assigned to a different system with a different account admin, but on the same network.If I log into my Sonos account, I only see the system that I own - the Sonos Fives - which is exactly what I want.  However, if I log into my Spotify, I can access the Era 300 and play through it.  I want to make sure that the Era 300 is not usable by anyone but the person who occupies the office/owns the system.  How do we accomplish this?

I use my Sonos Connect as a streamer connect to my Hifi, and I am currently using Amazon music as a music provider. The problem is that I cannot use the Amazon music app to select the music to stream through my Sonos Connect, I am forced to use the Sonos app; this is a serious limitation since in this way I cannot use most of the functionalities provided by the Amazon music app, which are useful in discovering new music. Do you know which HD music provider (e.g. tidal, deezer, etc.) would give me direct access thorugh their native app to my Sonos Connect streaming functionalities?Thanks a lot!

I use Sonos to listen to SiriusXM shows/episodes, and noticed a big change this week. I had to re-search for my show to find it again as I couldn’t just ‘browse’ for it like before (my favorite went away), and now when I play on-demand content I no longer get to see what song/artist is playing :( This is a big reason why I listen to SiriusXM via Sonos vs. the Alexa app (as Alexa can’t provide that information). Will this functionality be coming back? If not, I guess I’ll have to go back to using the SiriusXM app itself, but I certainly prefer using Sonos for many reasons. Also - SiriusXM finally restored skip forward/back for on-demand content in their apps - curious if this will be carried forward to the Sonos app as well?Really bummed of these changes - I’m sure it’s related to SiriusXM’s horrible app changes these past few months on all platforms. The QA testing was abysmal to say the least.

I keep my music library on a NAS device. I have many albums on there that were ripped from vinyl LPs. As a result the track names don’t include numbers that are needed to ensure that when I play an album it plays in the order the artist intended. Recently I have started to edit the track names to include numbers at the beginning - just as they are when ripped from a CD.  My problem is that the changes I have made are not appearing in the music library. If I look at the Folders view in the library all is well and my changes are there. If I navigate via Artist > Album > Tracks nothing has changed and when I play the album it still plays in alphabetical order.  What do I need to do to reflect the new track names in the library? I have tried deleting the share and re-adding it which had no effect. I have tinkered with the setting for track ordering, also to no effect. What else can I try?
